I didn't even notice the running part about me...

Also, I left a hint related to java where the keyword was "super". I think Glot got it.

Day 7

Last night's death had placed one man squarely in the mob's crosshairs.

"I'm a tree stump!" the man exclaimed.

We've never seen a tree stump in Mafia-Ville before, some commented. I heard they were hard to remove, others noted. Still, others were like: what's a tree stump? After a short debate, a voice of reason stepped to the front of the crowd.

"A generic foot soldier tree stump? Doubtful." The woman walked forward and punched canyoudothecancan square in the nose. He dropped to the ground, gigling. With a sudden move that can only be described as pyschopathic, he jumped to his feet and drew a gun from his underpants and pointed it at the woman's face.

The crowd gasped (for dramatic effect, of course).

"Ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?, he asked the woman. She ignored his drivel and stared at the gun, wondering if she could snatch it from his hands before he fired.

His hand tensed and he pulled the trigger. She reached up to grab the barrel... but was too late.

*BAM*

No bullets flew from the end of this gun, however. Only a flag with the word "bam" written across the side.

"Guess I put the wrong gun in my pants today. Hehehe...HohohohoHOHO! You should have seen the look on your face!"

That look, it turns out, was one of anger. Another swift punch dropped canyoudothecancan to the floor again. As the woman stepped forward, the maniac realized that he was actually in trouble. He started to scoot backwards, trying to get away from the woman and the crowd behind her.

"Um... why so serious?"

No amount of catchphrases would save this man today. Quickly, the crowd disposed of this evil creature. And then, for good measure, they buried him under a tree stump.

High fives were all around. Except for the poor person being hauled off to jail.

canyoudothecancan is dead. He was The Joker, Arkham Asylum Aligned Deranged Jester

masterded has been arrested, is in jail, and currently cannot speak in the thread.

derek_b showed his scum-hunting nose and had identified canyoudothecancan a little earlier in the game. For the record, derek_b did this all based on canyoudothecancan's play - he didn't have any sort of role-based evidence. Good lesson here for new players.

Anyhow, derek_b's suspicion pretty much sealed canyoudothecancan's fate. The phase was still interesting though, as this saw the tree stump role.

Good claim, had people second guessing themselves and spurred some interesting discussion.

canyoudothecancan
You are The Joker, Arkham Asylum Aligned Deranged Jester

Despite having no actual superpowers, you have always been considered one of the most dangerous men in the DC universe. This is probably because you're an evil genius with no moral fiber. Soon, the OVER 9000-verse will see exactly what everyone has been laughing about.

You have aligned yourself with a cadre of like-minded villains. You may speak with your allies outside of the thread. Your allies are:

Harley Quinn - Tha Black Phenom
Poison Ivy - Prophet
Bane - lprock

As an evil genius, you are quite hard to track down and always have a back-up plan. Each day, you can select another player to be your stand in during the night phase. Players that attempt to target you will, instead, target your stand-in. Neither your stand in nor any of the people that target your stand-in will be informed of your trickery. In fact, your stand in will act as normal, performing any actions that they intended to complete. In order to adopt a stand-in, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the day phase and state your target.

Therefore, if you opt to make player X your stand in and player X is investigated by player A, player A will be told that you are the alignment of player X.

Your ability, while quite powerful, is not foolproof. Some quick examples: You do not have a stand in for the day phase, thus making you vulnerable to lynches and day abilities. Your stand in can target you. If everyone else in your group dies, you will become the hitman, thus giving up your stand in abilities. In addition to these quick examples, there may be other situations (like not sending in a PM during the day) that increase your vulnerability and/or decrease the effectiveness of your power.

You are aware of another group of villains working in the area. Unlike your heroic counterparts, you are perfectly willing to share the glory with them. Unfortunately, you do not know who they are.

You win the game when the number of villains in the game is equal to the number of non-Villain Aligned players in the game.

Originally, I had the Joker as a standard don, but it felt kind of lackluster. So, instead, I stole some idea's from Anti's game and gave the Joker a modified version of the stand-in ability. Not a lot came of it, as very few people targeted cancan (off the top of my head, I only remember masterded doing it).

Night 7

With a solomn look on his face, the man climbed to the tallest building in all of the Mafia-Ville. He looked down. This place weakened him. Yet, now, he felt, was the time to act. He concentrated on gathering his energy. His focus was strong.

How much? All of it. All of it was his to command. He whispered two words.

And then it began to rain.

*Drip...drip...drip...clink...clink...clink...crun ch...crunch...crunch...THUD...THUD...THUD*

And then the rain turned to hail. The hail to ice shards. And then a proverbial blizard of deadly ice chunks covered Mafia-Ville, cutting off the city's power and keeping all from traveling outside.

Shivering and more than a little scared, everyone said "uh-uh, we're not going outside or doing anything at all tonight".

And so it was until dawn.

masterded has been released and may now participate in the thread.

bak42 (Toushirou Hitsugaya) using his one-shot night skip. People would question this, given the don's death during the day. I think the one-shot night skip is a tough role, as you want to use it at a good time (e.g., if you think the game is about to be over in favor of the scum [a la TBP in Host]), but you don't want to die and miss the chance to use it.

Day 8

One man had been on the crowd's collective mind for a couple of days now. They just weren't buying what he was selling. Quickly, they surrounded MichiganHero and pulled him to the center of town. Quickly, a rope was drapped over his neck and he was pulled up on the makeshift gallows.

*Thump.*

Strangely, the man's heck and neck seemed to slip out of the room and the man dropped the ground. Determined to see him gone, the crowd retied the knot and hoisted the man up again. In an awkward and somewhat uncomfortable scene, the man struggled and struggled, while dangling by his neck. And then...

*Crack!*

The wooden crossbeam supporting the makeshift gallows cracked and MichiganHero fell to the ground, gasping, but still alive. Realizing his opportunity, he tossed the rope to the side and made a break for it. The crowd chased him to a nearby ledge looking over the ocean. In a sure sign that this moderator is running out of material, MichiganHero turned to the crowd, starting backing up, and laughed at this pursues. "You will all remember this as the day that you almost captured Epic... Fail..."

And then he slipped over the edge, falling backwards. "GUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUY!"

The crowd rushed forward and looked over the edge. Improbably, MichiganHero landed on a small ship that appeared to be transporting a massive pile of hay. And thus, he lived and had, again, failed to die.

Up top, the man holding the gun made his move. And another person was off to jail.

MichiganHero is gone. He was Epic Fail Guy, Justice Aligned Guy that Tends to Fail

crayon has been arrested, is in jail, and currently cannot speak in the thread.

Lynch-bait. And not just lynch-bait, but lynch-bait that was intended to be misleading (see the role PM). Of course, a person familiar with EFG would realize this and would have either questioned me about it or claimed something else, but I figured there was a decent chance that the player might not and that sounded fun, so I said... what the hey.

As I type this, I'm starting to realize that I'm kind of a bastard-mod. Lots of lynch-bait this game. Partially because I think it helps balance themed games, partially because I'm a jerk.

EFG was, for the record, a backwards investigator.
You are Epic Fail Guy, Justice Aligned Guy that Tends to Fail

You are an OVER 9000-verse native and, unfortunately for you, best known for failing at everything you try. Your dead counterpart gets all the credit for everything!

Well, you'll show them! You'll use the current crisis to prove your worth!

Each night, you may investigate another player. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) and state your target.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Night 8

His eyes were closed. Slowly, a devious smile spread across his face. "It's time."

And then he opened his eyes.

OVER 9000 seconds later...

The woman grabbed the package, which was heavier than expected and walked inside. She wasn't expecting any deliveries tonight and was quite curious as to what it was. Her curiosity would have to be delayed however, as the building began to shake. Slowly, vines and limbs tore through the walls and moving towards her.

Deftly, and still holding the package, she dodged one vine and then another. A smaller vine crawled up from behind and attached itself to her ankle. This caused the woman to trip and fall to the ground as she tried to make a run for it. The shaking grew louder and, at this point, would better be described as rumbling. Slowly, a massive tree root emerged through the floor and positioned itself above the woman's head.

Things did not look good.

*CRASH*

At a speed that can only be described as inhuman, the figure darted through a window and snapped the massive root of the ground and tossed it to the side. With a surprisingly gentle motion, the figure reached down and offered the woman his hand. Quickly, he pulled her into his arms and darted out of the building, dodging all of the insidious plant-life along the way.

Four blocks were covered in four seconds. He set the woman, still holding her package, down, and turned to head back to the scene. He wouldn't make it, however...

*BZZPT!*

... as another figure, from an impressive distance, would blast him in the face with a burst of energy. The unlikely hero dropped to the ground, his face and upper torso scorched. Miraculously, he was still alive, though in this condition, he might not be for long.

And so the woman would return the favor immediately, as she grabbed him by the arm and pulled him to safety.

He opened the door to his makeshift workshop and walked in. It was a successful night, but he still had some more work to do. After tossing his trench coat on a nearby couch, he sat at his workbench and grabbed a soldering iron. Just as he activated the device, he felt something wrench inside of him. He dropped the tool and stumbled away from the desk, feeling out of breath. He grabbed at his chest. What... was...

With a wrenched look on his face, Waghlon fell to the floor.

-------------------------------------------

Waghlon is dead. He was Donatello, Justice Aligned Ninja Turtle.

petrija is injured, hospitalized and may not participate in the thread.

crayon has been released and may participate in the thread.

1. crayon (Light Yagami) opening his eyes, making the kill. I hadn't intended to keep Light's identity so secretive, but given that this was his first kill, I couldn't give any environmental descriptors (if I did, the prison setting would have IDed crayon pretty quickly).

2. GruntMark (Integra Hellsing) walking in with a Molecular Intensfier (functionally same thing as Mario's Mega Mushroom), before being attacked by Prophet (Poison Ivy). petrija (Alucard Hellsing) darted in and made the save...before being blasted in the face by masterded (Iron Patriot). The part about GM pulling petrija to safety was mostly just flavor about vampires and daylight, as petrija was pretty close to bulletproof (even closer than Jaded).

3. Waghlon (Donatello) working on his next invention, then dying of a heart attack via the Death Note.

Waghlon
You are Donatello, Justice Aligned Ninja Turtle

While you're definitely the smartest of the Ninja Turtles, even you can't quite figure out how you got here. Ever since popping into this weird dimension, you've had the uncontrollable urge to make things. Hopefully, some of your devices will prove helpful against the forces of evil.

You have scrambled about and have found the parts necessary to construct the following one-shot devices.

Turtle Blimp: This blimp has enough fuel to float above the city for a single night phase, allowing the user both track and watch a target of their choice. Landing, however, may be an issue.

Turtle Comm: This device will allow you and another player to send each other messages via a supposedly private channel.

Time Stopper: This fantastic device allows a player to stop time. Who knows what shenningans this might cause?

Dream-O-Vision: This device allows the user to construct a 3D hologram based on their likeness Hypothetically, this hologram should be so real that anyone targeting this person would go for the hologram instead.

Molecular Intensifier: This device will cause its user to grow to 30 feet tall. Of course, this didn't work for Professor Willard and that concerns you a bit. Hopefully, you've worked out the kinks in his design.

Of course, you've seen how some of your previous inventions work (or don't, as the case may be) and thus, you will not be using any of these devices.

Each night you can choose to either construct or deliver an invention (obviously, you cannot deliver an invention if you have not made any). To make an invention, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) and state which device you would like to construct. To deliver an invention, PM the mods and state which invention you would like to deliver to which player.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

The inventor, working under the make or deliver rules. All of the devices were silly and somewhat faulty, as this was more or less how I recalled Donatello's inventions working in the cartoon.

Turtle Blimp: Gave a 1-shot watch+target result, but would silence the user (as they floated far away from the city).

Turtle Comm: Allowed the user to communicate with Waghlon, but had the fault that a randomly selected player would also get the communication each night.

Time Stopper: Froze the user and target, made a special forum.

Dream O'Vision: Made the user bulletproof for a single night, but would make the person a miller for the night.

Molecular Intensfier: Made the user very large, everyone with an active ability had a 50% chance of targeting the user. If two kills were directed toward the user, the user would die.

Day 9

The people of Mafia-Ville gathered in the center of town and discussed their situation, while this moderator spread the gospil of Cook's D (read: sorry, I teach on Monday & Wednesday nights, thus the delay in vote counts and this write-up). The discussion was heated today and, some might say, uncomfortable.

Finally, the crowd settled on a target and quickly they gathered around him.

How did things come to this? No matter.

In his reality, this would not have happened. And yet, this was the OVER 9000-verse and his fate was assured. Still, he would give them no satisfaction as he marched to his death.

Moments later, masterded was dead. Some might call this a great victory. Only time would tell.

Once again, the man with a gun made his move. And once again, another person was delivered to jail.

masterded is dead. He was Norman Osborn, Dark Avengers Aligned Leader and Iron Patriot.

Prophet has been arrested, is in jail, and currently cannot speak in the thread.

The end of the Dark Avengers and the beginning of Anti's quite excellent run at the end of this game. Felt bad for masterded, as Prophet knew that he was scum and, I think, was trying to work a joint ploy, but in the end, this ended up bringing them both down.

Here's how that worked: When Prophet targeted masterded for the redirection, he learned that masterded was a like-minded villain. Any non-lethal targeting by one scum group on another would give them this information. The Dark Avengers and Arkham Asylum groups could win together, unlike the heroes, as I felt this would help balance the fact that they had the Marvel, DC, and Justice groups after them.

Still, the groups probably should have had 5 each.

masterded
You are Norman Osborn, Dark Avengers Aligned Leader and Iron Patriot

With great skill and deceit, you manipulated your way on top of the Marvel Universe. You watched with great pleasure as the public revolted against Iron Man and the Avengers of old. You laughed, maniacally, as the masses applauded the government's decision to place you in charge of the Dark Avengers. The fools thought that you had actually turned a new leaf!

And then, unfortunately, you ended up in the OVER 9000-verse. It's a shame, really, as you were undoubtedly atop the Marvel universe. Things are moving quickly here though and you have quickly gathered a team of villains, as you move to quickly make a bid to take over this universe as well.

You may speak with your allies outside of the thread. Your allies are:

Bullseye - trypio
Moonstone - i effin rule
Venom - SuperOwens

Somehow, your popularity from the Marvel universe has carried over into the OVER 9000-verse. As a result, you will be described as a non-threat when investigated.

Also, thanks to your incredible resources and ability to deceive others, you have the ability to manipulate votes. Each night, you may attempt to purchase another player's vote. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) with your target. Once a vote is acquired, you may either opt to use it during the day phase or store it for later use. Note, however, that you have a 50% chance of losing each stored vote per night. For example, if you buy another player's vote on night 1, you have a 50% chance of retaining that vote through night 2 and a 50% chance of losing that vote through night 2. With a little luck, it is possible for you to acquire several votes at once, which may allow you to dramatically shift a day phase.

During day phases, you may opt to use any of the votes that you have acquired. To do so, vote to lynch another player (like normal) and PM the mods, stating which votes you would like to employ. The votes you use in this manner will be added to your vote and will apply to any players that you vote on during the phase. Once a vote is used, it is gone (regardless of whether or not a lynch results from its use).

You are aware of another group of villains working in the area. Unlike your heroic counterparts, you are perfectly willing to share the glory with them. Unfortunately, you do not know who they are.

You win the game when the number of villains in the game is equal to the number of non-Villain Aligned players in the game.

More of me stealing from Anti's game, though masterded lost his ability to gain votes once he became the sole member of his group.

Night 9

One very, very large man, in the center of town, was causing quite the commotion. He was marching about, breaking just about everything in sight. As if this town hasn't faced enough hardship!

Obviously, some people were quite distracted and stopped to watch the mayhem.

Was there no way to get in this infernal building?

Frustrated, the figure darted around the corner and bolted through the front door. When in doubt, go head first.

All of this was for naught, however, as the figure soon came to stare at the barrel of a large handgun. "Visiting hours are over."

Irritated, the figured gave up on their task for the night.

------------------------------------------

Prophet has been released from jail and is now free to speak in the thread.

1. MJD (Super Mario) using his Mega Mushroom. Had no actual effect, actually, as there weren't many active actions that night. Astil was out with his double flavor investigation (thanks to eaygrat), but he had voluntarily targeted MJD already. Other than that, only petrija was out, and the RNG had her stick to her desired target.

2. Petrija (Alucard) trying to heal herself by feeding on Prophet. iMac (Dredd) would have none of this, as he protected whoever he arrested for the night.

Day 10

It was not a good 24 hours.

Spent the night in jail. Got out. Now face to face with an angry lynch mob.

She was defeated. On another day, in another situation, she might have used her charm to talk herself out of this situation. Now, it would seem, she had none left to give. With no struggle, the crowd led Prophet to the gallows. She smiled, as the rope draped over her neck. Today, she would die and return to the earth and give one final gift to those that she held most dear.

Her end came quickly.

Just as quickly, the man with the gun sprang into action. And again, another person found themselves in jail.

Prophet is dead. She was Poison Ivy, Arkham Asylum Aligned Plant-Based Seductress.

supermareo has been arrested, is in jail, and currently cannot speak in the thread.

And then poor Prophet was hung. I wasn't privy to the DC group's discussion behind the scenes, but on the surface, Anti did a great job of leading them and the town (along with GruntMark) to this lynch and thus, to the end of the traditional scum presence in the game.

Prophet, for his part, had a pretty good claim with Jean Grey. Bought himself a ton of time after his OVER 9000 power level result early in the game.

Which reminds me, the four characters with power levels this high were:

Bak42 (Toushirou)
Eayragt (Yuki Nagato)
Glotnot (Phoenix Wright)
Prophet (Poison Ivy)

The power level was something like the role's ability to directly and obviously impact the game. Bak42 and Glotnot could both effectively skip phases. Yuki could give 1-shot characters an extra shot and double everyone else for the night (e.g., scum would get two kills if the hitman were targeted by eayragt).

Prophet could redirect any male character. This doesn't seem like a huge deal on the surface, but Ivy had the ability to use force supermareo into unwilling bomber (which would have been a two for one kill), could force the SK active, draw protection away from Integra, and had no essential limit on how often she could do this (unlike someone like Scarlet Witch, who had a limited number of busdrivings available)

Prophet
You are Poison Ivy, Arkham Asylum Aligned Plant-Based Seductress

Seductive, radical, and toxic? While these might sound like words used to describe a bad Britney song, they can also be used to describe you. The so-called heroes of DC Earth labeled you a villain for standing up for the defenseless (read: plants). Even here in the OVER 9000-verse you are prosecuted and stigmatized for your beliefs. As such, you've aligned yourself with a group of villains. At least they're honest about their ideals, even if they don't quite match up with your own! You may speak with your allies outside of the thread. Your allies are:

The Joker - canyoudothecancan
Bane - lprock
Harley Quinn - Tha Black Phenom

You produce a powerful pheromone that no man can resist. Each night, you can brush up against another player and attempt to have them do your bidding. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) with your target. and what player you would like to redirect them towards (so include both your target and your target's new target). If you target a male character with an active ability, they will be forced to bend to your will (even if they had not intended to use an ability that night). Male characters without active abilities cannot be redirected. Any male character that you target, however, will lose their ability to vote on you during the following day phase.

Female characters are completely unaffected by your ability.

In order to prevent your targets from developing a resistance to your pheromones, you may not target a player more than once per three night phases (e.g., if you target player X on night 1, you could not target them again until night 4).

You win the game when the number of villains in the game is equal to the number of non-Villain Aligned players in the game.

The embrace was quick and, just as quickly, the creature flung the young man to the side, quite literally bouncing him off of the wall.

The young man lifted a hand, as if to protest, but was far too weak to do more.

I, like many otehrs, had taken the GAH avatar (after i figured out it wasn't the FLash doh) to be M-ded's character hint, but i still had question about N4 and I couldn't get Mded pinned down to answer them. Banger brought up the avatar thing and he and I tried to work Masterded into a Marvel claim, or a Marvel mason claim, because we knew both Mded, prophet and BHK couldn't all be Marvel characters. So once Mded did claim that, it was easy enough to know he was lying, given the numbers and my added ability.

I still had problems with Prophet's story but couldn't quite figure it out until I double checked the notes MLT made from her convo withD erek. At around the same time Grunt pointed out that Gonvick died as Daredevil, and that sealed it. There were 4 heroes each to be recruited and BHK was already confirmed as the fourth Marvel.

I truly did think Prophet was a Marvel villain though. His ploy with masterded made the most sense that way. Had I listened more to Banger's idea that there were only 4 DA's and 4 AA's. SM might not have been lynched. But then again, thats one of those things that easier to see in hindsight.

If we weren't so concerned with keeping Cancan's read consistant by using you as a body double, Anti, think we might've tried to off ya earlier. In the end, I think I stumbled just enough to hang myself with the rope presented anyway, but you really were the key ingredient in getting me.

What's worse ... I think I started the whole mirror idea to begin with. lol

Oh man, I wondered why Poison Ivy would have such a powerful role.

Even if someone had have come right out and said Prophet is Poison Ivy in the early stages of the game I wouldn't have bought it, simply because I would never have considered her "over 9000". Course by the end game there just wasn't any wiggle room.

Thinking about it now, I probably should have tried to off Astil when mjd went on his rampage. I held off on it due to the 50% chance of being redirected... but thinking about it, it's possible that mjd would have died in a completely different way to a heart attack, given the circumstances.

Actually, even better I should have pushed for mjd not to use the ability under the pretense that it could have been wasted by using it this night and not the next. Course it's not likely that would have swung anything, I think my opinion was pretty much disregarded by this stage of the game, if not before

And funnily enough, looking at MichiganHero's role PM makes me facepalm even more. He so easily could have swung it back from him if he realized that the PM was referring to Epic GET Guy's death (one of my first questions was if there's any reason why he might think his claim was bogus). But instead nothing.

Not to mention he could have helped add some validity to my towness

Day 11

The mob gathered in the center of the town-square. They were relieved at the lack of deaths, yet still cautious and more than a little on edge.

One man had been walking around town with a t-shirt that said "BOMB" on it in capital letters. Naturally, everyone thought this was weird.

So they decided to kill him. Quickly, they dragged the man to the gallows. He pleaded with the crowd. "You'll regret this!"

Finally, one man stepped forward and kicked the chair out from under supermareo's feet. With a graphic and not-so-pg-friendly noise, his neck snapped...

And ...

Then ...

He ...

'SPLODED!!!

This incinerated the man nearest to him.

Quickly, another person was snatched up and hauled to jail.

supermareo is dead. He was 'Splosion Man, Justice Aligned Guy that Tends to Explode.

Jaded is dead.

Astil has been arrested. He is currently unable to speak in the thread.

And then supermareo was lynched, as the town was in a bit of a confused-panic mode. Was smart to let Jaded be the hammer. I had double and triple check his PM to decide whether he'd die permanently or not. In the end, it was decided that he would come back from the dead from any single kill (at the end of the next corresponding phase - e.g., if he was lynched, he'd come back at the end of the next day phase, if he was night killed, he'd come back at the end of the next night phase).

supermareo
You are 'Splosion Man, Justice Aligned Guy that Tends to Explode

In your side-scrolling universe, you used 'splosions to move about the world. Guess you made too big of a 'splosion last time, as you suddenly found yourself smack dab in the middle of the OVER 9000-verse. Unfortunately, 'splosions are a bit more dangerous here. Frankly, it's only a matter of time before you 'splode, you just hope you take one of the bad guys with ya.

If you happen to be killed at night, you will 'splode, killing yourself and the killer. If you happen to be lynched, you will 'splode and kill yourself and the person to hammer your lynch.

As an alternative, you can also force yourself to 'Splode next to another player, killing yourself and the other player. To do this, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) and state your target. If you happen to kill another town player during this explosion, you will be unable to win the game (even if the town should win later on). If, however, you kill scum, you would be eligible for a potential win.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

I put a twist on the bomb role here, as I really was hoping that Poison Ivy might try to randomly redirect 'Splosion Man. Didn't feel right about 'Splosion man going off though, if he couldn't do it as part of his role.

I figured, though, that tying the forced bomb to the role's win condition would minimize its use.

Night 11

He grabbed the unholy instrument from its hiding place and tossed it on his workspace. Tonight, it seems, was a night for experimentation.

What did he hope to learn? What was the value in this? Was this the right time for this sort of behavior? If he made an error, which admittedly, was extremely unlikely, it would be the end of him. Yet still, he pressed on.

Maybe this was a mistake. Maybe now was the time to make his move. No, he took a deep breath and convinced himself to stick with the plan.

He sat down and performed the experiment.

Exactly as he had expected.

Astil has been released and may participate in the thread.

1. Light. Trying, sort of, to kill himself. Well, not exactly, trying to see if he would pop in a write-up or not. Here's the PM from crayon:

An excerpt from Light's diary:

Yes you fools, me being attacked at my desk does appear more scholarly than evil, you're right! I'm not out of the woods yet, but I may still be able to slip from the noose that's been around my neck since halfway through this game.

With that, tonight I plan to take no action.. but something I must test first...

crayon is Asadasdasdffsdgfd - DIE

For the record, nearly all of crayon's PMs were in character. Great stuff. Think I'm going to do that from now on.

2. Wonder Woman (Wallbanger) using the lasso on mjdgoldeneye (Mario). Would prove to be important during day phase 12, as the town needed to but MJD behind them to focus on crayon.

Day 12

The perverted old man had figured it out.

His face burned with panic and rage. How had it come to this? How had they figured it out? L was dead, none of these idiots should have been able to discover his identity!

Quickly, the crowd surrounded him. He ran into a nearby warehouse, while trying to activate the hidden compartment in his watch. Unfortunately, his prowess was not comparable to his pursuers. The beautiful, but deadly, Black Canary dropped from the ceiling and landed in-front of him., ready to strike. He stumbled backwards and tripped backwards onto a staircase.

He scrambled about and started crawling up the stairs.

And then he saw feet. He looked up. He saw feet.

Nightwing.

All was lost.

Or was it?

A burst of red energy burst through a nearby window and struck the stair case. Oddly, Nightwing tripped and fell, bouncing over the man and slamming into the Canary, temporarily incapacitating both heroes.

Outside, the Scarlet Witch cursed, wishing that her abilities were not so random.

Seizing the opportunity, the man crawled up the stairs and into the darkest chambers of the warehouse. With a complete absence of light, he fumbled about, trying to get the paper from his watch.

A voice broke the silence. "You shouldn't have come here, human."

The man whipped around, trying to strike at his newest accuser.

"You humans. Very difficult to understand. Nearly incomprehensible."

*Click*

The mechanism in the watch was set off, and the man grabbed the slip of paper. Drawing a pen from his pocket, he moved to scribble on the document. Instantly, the figure was upon him, snapping his arm at the wrist and forcing him to drop the paper.

"It didn't have to be this way. Some of us would have welcomed your assistance. Your book would have been the pièce de résistance in our war against evil. Yet you, you needed an audience for deeds. Did it make you feel special? Did it make you feel... more than human? Pity that you were not, yes?"

The man cried out in pain and dropped to his knees, as the creature twisted his broken arm. Slowly, his eyes were adjusting to the dark. He saw the creature reach down and grab the slip of paper.

"Integra will have great use for this. And now, I bid you farewell, human. "

Quickly, the figure disappeared into the shadows. The young man sat there, sobbing. He couldn't believe that it had come to this. He heard the heroes marching up the stairs. He plead with a being that was invisible to all but him. "Ryuk! Help me! Kill my enemies! Please! I can still entertain you!"

It was not to be.

The heroes burst into the room, ready to finish this ordeal. They found crayon on the floor, dead from an apparent heart attack.

This, however, would be a story for another time.

crayon is dead. He was Light Yagami, Perfect World Aligned God Named Kira.

Jaded has re-joined the game.

And then the lynching of crayon (Light Yagami). Interesting day phase, cool end (I wish I had prepared a mechanic for Light to kill off a bunch of people with a day kill...).

Honestly, I started designing this game one day, thinking "man, people claim way too fast and way too easy for my tastes". And then I thought "I'm not a big fan of banning claiming, as it and fake claiming are viable strategies that can help the game progress", so what to do?

I decided to come up with an anti-roleclaiming SK. And so, the entire game was built around this character. Originally, the plan was that Light could kill anyone at any time if he knew their character claim, simply by writing something like this:

d_w_w is Ironman

But, then I was worried that someone that didn't pay attention would get the role. And I thought, well crud, Light will never kill anyone. So I added a day investigation. Then I got myself concerned that if someone like derek, Anti, or Arrows got the role, they'd run through the town in a matter of days. And so, I backed off of my original intent and only allowed Light one kill per night.

crayon
You are Light Yagami, Perfect World Aligned God Named Kira

You are the bearer of the Death Note. With it, you will bring your brand of justice to this corrupt world! Unfortunately, the Death Note works slightly differently here than in your previous universe.

Each night, you may write a character name in the Death Note. If done correctly, your target will die of a heart attack at the end of the night phase. If done correctly, nothing can prevent this death (not even your untimely death).

In order to make a kill using the death note, you must write down the character's exact (not the player's) name. If the name is not correctly spelled or specified as in their role PM, your target will not die. In temrs of game mechanics, you do this by PMing the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) with your target (both the player's name and what you believe their character name to be).

How will you know another character's name? Two primary methods. Some foolish players may state or hint at their character's name in the thread. This is the easiest way for you to acquire targets, though it has some drawbacks. In addition to that, you may investigate a player during each day (to do so, PM the mods during the day phase). Given your connections, knowledge, and skills, you are able to find out a considerable amount of information about another player (including the ever helpful information on whether or not it is necessary to kill this person [see your win condition]. You may be able to use this information to deduce their name.

If investigated, you will be revealed to be a non-threat (after all, who suspects the brilliant college student?). In addition to this, because you are simply writing names in a notebook at night, you cannot be discovered via tracking or watching. You should note, however, that there are a couple of methods by which other players may become aware of your identity. You should try to avoid this at all costs.

You win the game when everyone that would challenge your Perfect World is dead. This list obviously includes all of the evil characters in the world, but, unfortunately, includes a great number of non-evil characters as well (read: anyone that would object to your methods must be eliminated).

Some notes:

1. Kills by the Death Note could not be stopped by protectors, jailing, hiding, or by any defensive item (e.g. the Star, Turtle Blimp, Leaf, etc.).

2. Roleblocks would stop these kills (so, Harley Quinn, Marv, and the injured Alucard could prevent Light from writing in the Death Note).

3. Death Note kills could be redirected. Poison Ivy targeting Light would have resulted in him killing someone manually. Scarlet Witch and Wonder Woman would have resulted in a mystic change to the Death Note, redirected the energies at the new target (even though Light might not have known their name).

4. These kills would always happen last, after everything else in the phase.

5. Light was able to write several names down per target. This was because it was not always clear whether a person would be listed as "Tony Stark" or "Iron Man". The limitation to this, though, was that he could only do it for a single player per night phase.

crayon played a great game, given that the role's original owner did not send investigations each phase and never sent in a kill attempt (or a note saying that he wasn't going to make a kill attempt). I never asked, but I felt like crayon was worried that using the book might draw attention to himself. This is understandable, but given that Light couldn't be discovered via tracking, watching, or investigation, I was expecting the owner of the role to be much more liberal with the Death Note's use.

The game would have been dramatically different if there were 4 or 5 more kills by the time Waghlon was killed at night 8 (which was the first game kill with the Death Note [technically, Iron Man was the first victim]).

Still, it was a pleasure to have him join the game. Hope to see him around in more games in the future.

Let's start with the DC group.

moon_lit_tears
You are Black Canary, DC Aligned Beautiful Bird of Prey

The battle between Marvel and DC rages on! This, of course, couldn't have happened at a worse time, given that the forces of evil are on the move. Sadly, this leaves you and your allies with double duty. Defeat the villains and squash the forces of Marvel.

Your ally is Catwoman (Zeel1). You may speak to her outside of the thread. You are sure that there are other DC characters around. It's important to find them, as you need to make sure that DC has a numeric advantage over Marvel.

You have the 1-shot ability to attempt to kill another player. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) with your target.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead and if the number of DC aligned players outnumbers the number of Marvel Aligned players.

Good use of her 1-shot kill. Stayed silent and didn't claim throughout the game, which probably contributed to her survival. Thumbs up on the performance, IMO.

Antithesis
You are Nightwing, Justice Aligned Guardian of Blüdhaven

It has been a long time since you've been known as Robin, though that is likely the name that you are most often associated with. You learned a lot from the Bat and have developed quite nicely into a hero in your own right. Prior to being sucked into the OVER 9000-verse, you spent most of your time tracking down villains in Blüdhaven. While Blüdhaven is no where to be found, your skill set should prove equally useful here.

Each night, you may track another player and learn who, if anyone, they targeted that night. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) with your target.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Started Justice, turned royalblue and DC Aligned when targeted by Zeel1 early in the game.

Not a lot to say here, Anti was the spokesman for the group and, I think, was instrumental in putting together the final push against crayon and masterded.

When scummy season comes up, I'll have Anti and this group in mind.

Wallbanger
You are Wonder Woman, Justice Aligned Amazonian Princess

It would be no exaggeration to state that you have been one of, if not the, most influential female superheroes of all time. This is likely due to your unique combination of powers, smarts, and beauty. Unfortunately, like some others, your powers have diminished since being sucked into the OVER 9000-verse. You are not, however, without resources.

You still possess the Lasso of Truth and the Bracelet of Victory. Here in the OVER 9000-verse, these mystic items takes a considerable amount of time to recharge. As such, you can only use the Lasso of Truth and the Bracelet of Victory once each in this game.

The Lasso of Truth allows you to determine if this character is being truthful in response to a single question. To use the Lasso, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the night phase and state your target. If successful, your target will be lassoed (though they will NOT be informed of this). During the following day phase, you can then PM the mods (d_w_w and imarevenant) and find out if this person is being truthful in response to a single question (this may be a question asked by anyone in the game). Please note that the Lasso only works in response to questions. Also note that only certain types of responses can be evaluated (for example, if you ask player X if they killed Y and they respond with a smiley face, the Lasso cannot help you, as it a smiley face does not

The Bracelets of Victory are well known for their ability to redirect attacks. If you choose to activate the Bracelets of Victory, you will act as a nexus for the night (meaning, all actions directed at you will be randomly redirected to another player). The Bracelets of Victory are not a passive ability and must be donned in order to be used (to don the Bracelets of Victory, PM the mods and state that you would like to wear the Bracelets of Victory tonight). If, however, no one happens to target you when you use the Bracelets, you will be able to use the Bracelets on a following night.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

The final recruit to the DC group. 'Banger also did a solid job. I remember being particularly impressed during the lynching of the Joker, hence my nod to Wonder Woman in the write-up. And, as Anti mentioned in a post not too long ago, 'Banger was instrumental in figuring out that masterded wasn't Cap'n America.

So, in review:

The Marvel and DC groups could each have 4 players. They started with two:

Marvel: Elektra (1-shot vig), The Black Cat (odd night thief)

DC: Black Canary (1-shot vig), Catwoman (even night thief)

They each had two potential recruits:

Marvel: Daredevil (Watcher), Scarlet Witch (Busdriver)

DC: Nightwing (Tracker), Wonder Woman (1-shot nexus, 1-shot lie detector).

For the most part, the groups were intended to be mirrors. Obviously, tracker != watcher, but the function and potential of the roles are close, so I went with it.

Scarlet Witch vs. Wonder Woman was the biggest departure from being a mirror. Wonder Woman's abilities were perhaps a bit more dependable (nexus would keep her alive if attacked, Lie Detector could be used as a 1-shot investigation). Scarlet Witch's abilities had more of a range to impact the game (I'll point this out when I post BHK's role in a bit).

I intentionally left out several of the big name heroes (Spidey, Bats, Hulk, etc.), as leaving these sorts of characters out leaves room for some unlikely, but potentially hard to refute fake claims.

Honestly, I started designing this game one day, thinking "man, people claim way too fast and way too easy for my tastes". And then I thought "I'm not a big fan of banning claiming, as it and fake claiming are viable strategies that can help the game progress", so what to do?

It was a very cool mechanic, and even with my limited experience I do like the idea of trying to limit roleclaiming in a way that fits with the theme. Naturally I would have had a field day if you went with option 1, but thems the breaks eh :) I actually did feel a lot like Light while playing this game, so kudos to you

I never asked, but I felt like crayon was worried that using the book might draw attention to himself.

Yeah, that was the one. First day was probably getting aquainted with the game, and also trying to figure out what kind of threat Nedew could be to me as L (him sitting awkwardly in a chair gave it away (I originally though Professor Xavier actually)), and then after he died I knew that I was 90% likely to claim Keitaro Urashima and to not go out at night, just because he was the closest thing to my character (no idea what would show up in the writeups or if someone might watch me as being a "student" as such).

Of course the problem with my fake claim is that if it did become apparent that Light was in the game, then anyone who didn't go out at night would come under scrutiny (which became even more likely as MLT started pointing fingers half-correct/half-incorrectly at me :P).. so my goal was to get rid of anyone who definitely could figure out the Deathnote being in the game - Waghlon and Astil - and then after the "it's time" writeup happened, point everyone towards the idea that a previously good guy has turned evil

I did have another convoluted play in my head where I might claim Mello, having received investigative powers after L died.. and then realize that a deathnote was being used and to go after it.. but unfortunately I never actually found any scum with it (besides SuperOwens) to be able to entertain that fanciful idea

And now the Hellsings:

GruntMark
You are Integra Hellsing, Justice Aligned Director of the Hellsing Organization

In your universe, your family's organization is the last line of defense against the forces of evil. You aren't sure how you arrived in the OVER 9000-verse, but your mission remains the same: the eradication of evil.

You know that is Alucard Hellsing. You may not speak to him outside of the game thread, as you tend to work during the day and he's a bit fonder of the night. You know, however, that Alucard will be around to protect you each night.

You moved quickly to acquire resources and power in the OVER 9000-verse. As a result, you can adjust the weight of your vote. Your vote can be worth -2, 1, or 2 votes, thus allowing you to either speed up or slow down potential lynches) By default, your vote will be worth a single vote. To increase or decrease the power of your vote, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the day phase (prior to a lynch being achieved) and state what you would like your vote to be worth.

[b]You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

I liked crychon's take on the double voter role in Hollywood Horror (I think it was The Bride from Kill Bill), and I so I went with that here. GM only used the ability a couple of times, which, I think, is a testament to the overall town activity level.

Given that there were potentially two groups of 4 masons in the game, I opted to not let these two talk to each other, nor did they know the details of the others roles.

Great play by GM, btw. Solid scum-hunting, good discussions with Anti. Also someone to keep in mind for scummy season, IMO.

Bluestar / petrija
You are Alucard Hellsing, Justice Aligned Vampire Operative

It has been many centuries since you were known as Dracula. Your defeat at the hands of Van Hellsing changed your path permanently and since then, you have been a loyal servant of the Hellsing Organization. Of course, the Hellsings come and go, while you remain a constant. The current Hellsing in-charge, Integra, happens to be worthy of loyalty and respect.

Interestingly, you have felt quite different since being pulled into the OVER 9000-verse. Humans are starting to irritate you, even more than normal, and the hunger, which at your advanced age is largely a symbolic gesture, seems to have returned with a vengeance. Perhaps this is just a phase, or perhaps it is a sign of things to come.

You know that [GruntMark] is Integra Hellsing. You may not speak to her outside of the game thread, however, as you are inactive during the day and she, being a human, prefers to sleep at night. Each night, you protect Integra Hellsing. Should she die, you aren't sure what would happen to you.

As a vampire, you are somewhat easier to kill during the day than at night. As a result, you can be lynched by a vote total of (one-third of the players in the game plus 1, rounded up). For example, if there are 30 players in the game, you would be lynched at 11 votes (1/3rd of 30 is 10, plus 1). Conversely, however, it would be quite hard for you to be killed at night, though not necessarily impossible.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

First off, I want to thank Bluestar. Unlike some other folks who simply went inactive or promised to get active, he actually told me that he needed a replacement. Bluestar is a stand-up, quality guy, as far as I'm concerned, and is always welcome in any game I ever happen to run.

petrija let me know, from the moment she PM'ed me that she'd take the spot, that she had no idea about this OVER 9000 verse stuff. Then, when she joined the game, she told everyone that as well :D crayon never really trusted her, which is kind of why I went with Alucard stopping Light in the final write-up.

Good game for petrija, she was there when the town needed her and I think she made good choices on who to roleblock when injured (roleblocking Light seemed to give the town more incentive to see him lynched).

If GruntMark had died, petrija would have changed to:

Dracula, Vampire Aligned Lord and Master of the Night (in green).

Each night, petrija would have had to target someone. If the character was male, they would have been killed. If the character was female, he would have started the recruitment process. Two consecutive nights of targeting would have changed that player into the Vampire Aligned Servant of Dracula. At this point, Dracula would have stopped going out at night. His servant then would have repeated the process (with the caveat that they needed to double target a male to get the recruit, females would have been killed outright). This is where the chain stopped though, under the premise that vampires that were two generations removed from Dracula were too diluted in blood strength to make new vamps (so, the third person would have been the hitman for the group).

It was always fairly unlikely that GM would die though, given that petrija protected him each night. Light could have killed GM, but had no reason to do so (the Hellsings were not required to die for him to win). Some sort of redirection could have moved petrija from her protection spot, thus allowing GM to die. And when petrija was injured, GM was unprotected.

I must admit that i have added you to my must kill list as well.

I don't really have a lot to say about this. I did at the time, but I kind of just want to put it behind me.

So... yeah.

There was no way I would ever put a character based on Arrows in a mafia game and have them not be based on Arrows the mafia player.

Never happen. Sorry if that's misleading, but the theme will always take second place (or third, actually) to making interesting characters/roles.

Still, I'd change this one if I could do this over. Specifically, I'd change it to 2/3rds to lynch. Overall, I was happy with the role. Arrows makes perfect sense as a hard-to-lynch, lightning rod miller.

Rev randomized the roles for me, which I decided on to prevent any funny business on my part. Honestly, if I had done the roles, I would been very, very, very tempted to click randomize again when I saw WC get the role.

I have some general thoughts on whether it always makes sense to completely randomize roles or not, but I'll save that for the discussion thread. In this game though, all roles were randomly assigned.

This really made me upset. The first time that I actually got a very interesting role I was kicked out of the game. LITERALLY! :(

And now the non-Hellsing Justice folks:

Astil
You are Master Roshi, Justice Aligned Turtle Hermit

You aren't sure how you ended up in the OVER 9000-verse, though at your age, you're senile enough that you might just be imagining all of this.

Ah, you remember fondly the days when you were considered the strongest warrior on earth. That time was short-lived, however, as a virtual army of upstart Z warriors have shown up on the horizon, most of whom completely dwarf you in power. Still, you have much to offer the world: wisdom, perversion, heavy turtle shells, etc. The point is, you won't be doing any fighting these days, but you still might prove helpful to the forces of Justice.

Each night, you may target another player. You'll learn something about your target's power level, gender, and whether or not they did anything that night. To do this, PM the mods (d_w_w; Imarevenant) and state your target.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Astil was pretty fixed on MLT as scum for most of the game, which, interestingly enough, probably helped her survive and brought the town closer to the win. And then, when the chips were down, Astil figured out the Death Note issue, which probably put the final nail in Light's coffin.

bak42
You are Toushirou Hitsugaya, Justice Aligned Soul Reaper

In your universe, you were the Captain of the 10th Division of Soul Reapers, responsible for managing the flow of souls between the human world and the afterlife. During a recent mission involving the King's Seal, you were unexpectedly transported to the OVER 9000-verse. Strangely, most of your powers are unresponsive here. At this point, you only have the power to unleash a single Hyoten Hyakkaso.

To use this one-shot ability, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the night phase and state your intention. The Hyoten Hyakkaso is a devastating power that causes thousands of shards of ice to fall from the sky. No one would dare go out at night during such a storm.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Discussed this earlier, but I'm guessing it was tough for bak to decide when to use the night skip. He caught some flak for doing it after the death of the Joker, but the longer the game goes, the bigger the chances get of him dying without using it.

BHK1978
You are The Scarlet Witch, Justice Aligned Mutant Mage

In the Marvel Universe, you are best known for being the daughter of Magneto and for having some of the most unpredictable (and potentially disaster-inducing) powers in the universe. Like some other heroes, your powers have been diminished since entering the OVER 9000-verse. You still, however, had the potential to greatly influence the world.

You have the ability to create Hex Portals. You may do this twice during the game, though you will have far more control over this power the first time that you use it.

On the first time that you use Hex Portals, you can switch the locations of two players (let us, for the sake of example, call them players X and Y). As a result, everyone intending to target player X will, instead, target player Y (and those wishing to target player Y will end up targeting player X). Due to the reality altering nature of your magic and mutant ability, players x and y will also switch their intended targets (that is, if player X wanted to target player A and if player Y wanted to target player B, player X would instead target B and Y would target A).

In order to use this ability, pm the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the night phase and state which two players you would like to switch for the night.

On the second time that you use Hex Portals, you can switch the locations of three players (players X, Y, and Z, where X takes Y's place, Y takes Z's place, and Z takes X's place for the night). This will work in much the same fashion as the Hex Portal ability described above, with the following important caveat: you can only select players X and Y. The third player affected by this ability will be selected at random.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

BHK was worried that his ability might screw up the game for the town, and so was hesitant to use it. Or, at least, that's what he claim :D He proceeded to busdrive multiple times :P

He did, however, avoid the unpredictable 3-way busdriving, which made me sad, as a little bit of randomness can go a long ways toward the production of fun. Also, BHK benefited from not being recruited by the Marvel faction, as this allowed him to win with the town.

Eayragt
You are Yuki Nagato, Justice Aligned Bibliophile

What are you doing here? Not clear. What are you allowed to do here? Not clear.

You are an advanced artificial human with unnatural powers. In your reality, the Integrated Data Entity organization monitors your behavior and prohibits you from directly attacking sentient life. There are, however, no direct restrictions against assisting others. While you are soft spoken, you have a strong sense of justice. As such, you will do your best to assist the forces of Justice.

Once every other night, you may boost another player's powers. To do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) and state your target. Your target will slowly fill with energy, providing them with a boost on the following night or day phase. The boost that you provide will likely exhaust your target. The specifics of the boost will vary based on your targets abilities.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

I'm pretty sure I stole this from a role Astil designed for Lakeside. Can't remember the role specifically. Another good townie game though, as eaygrat made (in my opinion), sensible choices for his night action and avoided an unnecessary and potentially incriminating claim.

Also, everyone that he targeted became vanilla for the next night (thus, the exhaustion thing).

Jaded
You are The Undertaker, Justice Aligned Deadman

You were one of a handful of professional wrestlers pulled into the OVER 9000-verse. In your reality, you were one of the most popular characters in North America, thanks largely to your menacing look and intriguing gimmick. One of your favorite techniques was to "sit up" after being heavily assaulted. This gave the illusion that you were virtually indestructible.

Interestingly, you ARE virtually indestructible in the OVER 9000-verse. As such, if you are killed (via lynching or night action), you will be able to sit up, as though you were returning from the dead. This spot only worked once per match in your reality and, as such, it only works once in the game here.

In terms of game mechanics, if you are lynched, you will sit up on during the following day phase. If you are killed at night, you will sit up during the following night phase. In both cases, you will not be allowed to participate in the game while dead (and, should the forces of Justice lose the game while you are dead, you will also lose the game).

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Didn't think it made sense to run a game without wrestlers in it on a board where most of us are here because of a wrestling simulator, based on a theme that uses that game as the framework.

Jaded started with the hints early, which was a good move. Also, a good call on being the hammer for supermareo.

iMac
You are Judge Dread, Justice Aligned Law Enforcement Officer

In your universe, you are the the judge, jury and executioner. While you were quick to find law enforcement employment in the OVER 9000-verse, you were saddened to discover that due process is alive and well in the OVER 9000-verse.

Each day, you may target another player, arrest them, and then hold them for questioning. In order to do so, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) and state who you would like to arrest. The actual arrest will happen at the end of the day phase (during the lynch announcement, so you should make sure to get your PM in before a lynch is achieved). This player will be unable to perform any actions during the following night phase, nor will anyone be able to target this player at night, as they will be safely held in a secure jail cell.

Unfortunately, OVER 9000-verse due process requires that you release your suspect at the end of the night. Furthermore, you are not allowed to harass the population of the OVER-9000 verse. As such, you may not target a player more than once per three phases (e.g., if you arrest player X on day 1, you will not be able to arrest X again until day 4).

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

Notice the typo in the role PM. Oops.

Good game by iMac. He followed the thread, picked sensible targets, and stopped a kill by Bane. Honestly, he was just about the perfect jailer, as he made good choices and stayed quiet enough to not make himself a known threat to the scum groups.

mjdgoldeneye
You are Super Mario, Justice Aligned Mushroom Popping Plumber

It'sa you, Mario! This isn't your standard adventure, yet you'll still do your best to save the day. Fortunately, you brought several items that might help out.

You have a Leaf, a Star, and a Mega Mushroom. Each item can be used once. To use an item, PM the mods (d_w_w and Imarevenant) during the night phase and state which item you would like to use.

The Leaf: The Leaf allows you to fly. By doing so, you will be untargetable during that night phase.

The Star: The Star makes you pulse with energy. Everyone that targets you during that night phase will be knocked unconscious, effectively silencing them for the next day.

The Mega Mushroom: The Mega Mushroom makes you 30 feet tall. People pay attention to giant plumbers. As a result, every player in the game has a 50% chance of being redirected to you on that particular night. Your increased size increases your resilience and, as such, you will be able to withstand a single kill that night. Note, however, that you will die if 2 or more kills are pointed at your giant sized frame.

You win the game when all threats to Justice are dead.

MJD claimed to have an off game in the thread at some point, but did a good job of surviving. His one-shots were mostly non factors, which was okay by me (in my head, Mario was the closest thing to a PGO in the game, and I'm happy to see weakened PGOs in play). It made me LOL IRL when someone said "it'sa you" in the thread, given that that's how I started the role PM :)

Why did WC get booted?

Mostly due to this rule:

This game stirs up some passionate arguments and we understand that this will happen, but if anything turns into a personal attack then it ruins the fun for everyone. Be considerate. :)

Not entirely his fault, but not entirely not his fault his either.

And, I couldn't, very well, modkill all of the players that were aggravated by his presence.

I apologize for the mod-kill, but will always do what I can to make sure that the game does not violate board policy.

I'm still sad it didn't work. As a one off town would have still won the game - and it certainly woud have been specatular!

Of course, if scum hadn't done a good job of killing themselves off in the beginning of the game it would have looked might overpowered, especially linked with crayons additional abilites.

And I hope Wrestling Centruy gets the win for this game. At the end of the day, he was town, and town won. A lot of the problems were caused by his actions in previous game, not this one. Hopefully in future (as town) he'll pay more attention to this phrase:

"Lynch all liars"

Great game. Only the second time I've started with a standard town win condition - the other being Character Creation. Of which I lasted to Night 1, before watching scum steamroller to victory. So an improvement for me, at least.

Great game, d_w_w! (and rev, of course.)

I have to admit, I misread my role PM at one point and when I went back to it realised that it didn't actually say I'd survive a bombing - but at that point I figured it would look hugely scummy to say "Hey, guys... actually, I don't wanna hammer" so I crossed my fingers and hoped. Glad it worked.

Certainly did a lot better for the town than last game I sacrificed myself to hammer a bomb, which led to some serial killer guy picking up the victory, IIRC...

Gotta admit I don't really feel experienced enough to cast an opinion on how others played. All I know is that Anti was pretty consistent as head of the masons and petrija sucks for keeping me from killing astil :P

Like the scummie awards. You don't have to vote for each category. Besides these are based souly on THIS game and not there experience. :)

What I meant by experience, is that I haven't got enough, myself.. to be able to tell if someone actually played a good game or just got lucky or played crap but looked like they knew what they were doing, etc. Hell, for all I know, WC may have made some awesome play which was so amazing it went right over my head :P

Well you just have to look at it from this game. I mean if I were to vote (which I am not) I would say MVP's should go out to Anti, Grunt, Astil and you for great game play. However, that is just my opinion.

I honestly think you both should vote. Even if it's just one or two categories.

I mean You could always put my name for all of them. :p :D

Ah okay, I guess you've convinced me. Before I vote though, what's the award for losing effort for?

Interesting awards, with some confusion about what the categories meant (see, for example, the BIP - Mason/Indy). My fault, obviously, but the fact that I decided to not read ballots until just now meant that I couldn't address this. Didn't really matter in the end, as the confusion was only around a couple of categories and the winners of these categories were pretty clear cut (with or without the odd votes).

End of the Game Awards: Mod's Choice

1. Most Strategic Claim: Prophet (his claim allowed him to slip by early game pressure and avoid dealing with the pesky OVER 9000 power level result)

2. Best Fake Claim: crayon (this claim, IMO, had several people fooled)

3. BIP - Town: GruntMark (very effective town leader)

4. BIP - Scum: Prophet (he made kills, had a good fake roleclaim, and pushed for his side to win)

5. BIP - Mason/Indy: Antithesis (while I don't know what happened behind the scenes, Anti was an effective spokesperson, townleader, and scumhunter throughout the game)

6. BIP - Losing Effort: Crayon (he fought till the end, even giving folks a scare with his fake list of day kills)

7. Best Discussion: GruntMark (he stirred up discussion, theorized with people, and helped the game move forward)

8. Best Scum Catcher: Antithesis (his streak at the end of this game is well-documented)

9. Most Improved: iMac (as I mentioned earlier in the thread, he played the role really well and kept the town body count low)

10. Best Rookie Player: crayon (not sure I need to explain this one)

I thought about voting for that as well, but I didn't because I didn't know if it would count, technically.

There was definately several solid reasons to keep your role hidden, as it helped protect us both. Had Crayon's final day claim been real, all those kills he wasted trying to guess your character could of had a huge impact on the game as well, for example. Not that we had any inkling about all that... but still I think one could make the case that not claiming (in certain circumstances) is a viable strategy just as much as anything else.

In the same sense, Imac, who obviously read along in the game because every day phase he locked up that day's most suspicious person, remained quiet the rest of the time, to the degree that despite having a very powerful role, he didn't have to claim until most of the scum was dead. In Retrospect he played that role perfectly.

Also want to say the town was lucky to have several comic and anime fans on its side. And had things been different and scum had consisted mainly of anime characters, probably Astil or Waghlon would have been winning some awards as well.

I was lucky, having been a DC fan and somewhat a fan of Marvel years ago to have drawn a DC character and become a DC mason. I think most of us have played these games enough to know that sometimes luck is a skill too. :D

Imac was also lucky for having a reputation of staying quiet in games, so no one really questioned his silence all that much, too.

Also thanks for everyone who voted for me. I'll hopefully get time to play some more games during the year to see if it was just a fluke :)

Just for those of those who never venture into the tew mod forums, I'm going to be releasing a beta for the TEW2010 version of the 9000-verse some stage soon. If anyone's interested in it just send me a PM :D

Awesome, I haven't been playing that much TEW recently due to a lack of time, but I might have to give that mod a go.
