August 2005

My name is Greg McNeish, and I own a wrestling promotion called Steel City Wrestling (SCW), based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. My wife, Jessica, is a neuro-surgeon at McMaster University Hospital. She likes to joke that if she didn't have such a lucrative career, I'd have to get a REAL job. I always retort that if I had a real job, she'd have nothing worthwhile to come home to.

Don't judge us.

Things couldn't be going better, SCW is taking off, selling out our 300-seat venue every month. Pretty soon, we'll be looking to move somewhere bigger.

Life is great.

You know you're running a successful company when someone tries to buy you out. Some local guy just won the lottery, and offered me $150,000 for SCW. I told him that I'm not interested in the money, and do this because it's what I love. He seemed disappointed, but said that he understood.

I could see that he was coming from the same place.

I like what you're doing with this so far, I can't wait till you actually break into the wrestling aspect of this thing. You have a good use of voice and I look forward to reading more of this.

Thanks, FuelFan. It's nice to get feedback before I'm even done setting up the story. I've already played a bit of the game, so I've got a little catch-up to do. I'm hoping to have the first card up either tonight (this morning?), or tomorrow.

Once again, thanks for the comment. I guess having a mom who writes for a newspaper has taught me a few things about writing.

You know what I hate?

Karma.

Just when everything's going great, life kicks you in the pants, and I'm not talking about the back.

I suppose I shouldn't be too upset. You see, Jessica was just offered a position as the head neuro-surgeon at a hospital in London, England. It's the opportunity of a lifetime, and she'd be stupid to pass it up. We talked it over, and without any hesitation, I encouraged her to accept, before they change their mind.

This leaves me with a decision that really presents no options at all. I can either live across an ocean from my wife, or I could leave SCW. There is no way I'm going to be seperated from the love of my life, and that is final.

I wonder if that lotto winner is still interested....

November 2005

It always amazes me that when a man can survive on less than $600/month, but can blow through a few million in the same amount of time. As it turned out, the lottery winner who had made the offer a couple months ago had burned through all but $200,000 by the time I called him back. He informed me that, due to the new circumstances, he could only offer half of his previous offer: $75,000.

If I weren't so desperate, I'd have hung up on him, without even negotiating. As it was, I needed a buyer, and there wasn't time to find another suitor. So, I did the best I could, and wrestled the final amount up to an even $100,000. It was still a steal, but at least it would be enough to get me going in England.

After spending a couple weeks settling into our new flat, I informed Jessica that I'd be opening up a new wrestling company as of December 1st. She simply rolled her eyes, but that's just her way of saying "okay".

At least that's what I tell myself.

RWF British Invasion
Held at The Paddington Club, in South UK. Paid attendance of 14.

Dark Segment #1
Greg McNeish comes to the ring, and welcomes the crowd to the first ever RWF show. He quickly states that he intends to bring Traditional wrestling back to Britain, and show the world that there is still life in this land.

C-
Maybe I'm just biased, but I think that went rather well. Sure, there are only a dozen people in attendance, but they at least seem ready for the show. Mainly, I just wanted to see how the British crowd would respond to me, seeing as this is the first time I've appeared on this side of the Atlantic. Again, I may be biased, but I think I passed the audition.

Dark Segment #2
Psycho Ward come to the ring next, spouting off about how they have never received the respect that they deserve. Now, in RWF, they aren't going to wait around for opportunity to come calling; they're going to create their own. They then challenge anyone in the back to come out, and face them.

C-
Not a bad promo by these two young prospects. Glen Ward looked especially good out there. I've got high hopes for these guys down the road, and it's nice to see that they can contribute already.

Dark Segment #3
Pure Gold appear to answer the challenge. Jonni Dyslexic starts by saying that Psycho Ward have received all the respect they DESERVE, and that they have to earn it, if they ever want to get it. Arthur T. Turtle is up next, calling Psycho Ward a couple of blowhards, and stating that it's time to see if they can back up their talk in the ring.

D
A bit of a letdown, but the crowd must be getting restless to see a match. Still, not a bad start.

Dark Segment #4 - Psycho Ward vs. Pure Gold
Arthur T. Turtle forced Glen Ward to submit in 8:31, giving Pure Gold the victory.

E
For a bunch of unknown kids, I'm pretty happy with this result. Everyone seemed to improve, with Washington especially coming out a better man. Psycho Ward looked really good together, and have the makings of a long-term team.

Segment #1
The main show begins with Joey Beauchamp coming to the ring. He plays for the 2 ladies in attendance, getting a good heel reaction from the guys. He then grabs a microphone, saying that he has been around wrestling long enough to have seen how disgusting most wrestlers are, and that it is time someone brought some gentlemanly class to the ring.

C+
A fantastic opening segment from a man that I'm hoping can be a major player in RWF for years to come.

Segment #2
While Joey Beauchamp continues, Rolling Johnny Stones arrives on the scene, storming the ring, and grabbing the microphone. He takes exception to Beauchamp's comments, getting right up in his face.

C-
A bit of a let-down, but still good enough for opening day.

Segment #3
They are close to blows when Greg McNeish stands up from the announce table, getting both men's attention. He says that, if these guys are going to fight anyway, we should make it a match. Without hesitation, he rings the bell.

D
The audience is still wondering who the hell I am.

Joey Beauchamp vs. Rolling Johnny Stones
A stellar match, that brought the small crowd to its feet. They fought back and forth for over 20 minutes, before Joey Beauchamp scored with a handful of tights. He quickly rolls out of the ring, with a huge smirk, while Rolling Johnny Stones stares back in disbelief. As the show ends, Stones promises Beauchamp that this is far from over.

C+
What a Main Event! The way these guys went at it, you'd think they were performing for 14 THOUSAND fans. Expect more classic battles between these two down the road.

Overall Rating: C+
This show definitely put us on the map in Britain. We didn't even start out this good in SCW back home.

FuelFan0102

Sounds like ya put on a good show, I'm glad to here it.

Yay for Johnny Stones!!!

Saturday, Week 2, January 2006

RWF Dawn of Time
Held at The Paddington Club, in South UK. Paid attendance of 15.

Dark Segment #1
Miss Information is in the ring with a microphone. She introduces Nina, a ballerina from America. Miss Information begins conducting an interview, asking what a professional dancer is doing in a wrestling ring. Nina takes exception to this, accusing Miss Information of saying that dancers don't belong. She demands for a ref to come down, as she's got business to take care of.

C-
Not a bad showing by our entire women's division. I'm still undecided as to whether I'll have these ladies managing or wrestling full-time.

Dark Segment #2 - Miss Information vs. Nina
Nina looked to have this match won, but she decided to showboat with a pirouette instead of going for the cover. Miss Information capitalized, getting the roll-up, and the victory.

E
Considering the size of the crowd, and how unknown these ladies are, this wasn't a bad match. Perhaps I will give them more opportunities in the ring.

Dark Segment #3
Following the match, an angry Nina grabbed a microphone. She told the crowd that, although Miss Information had gotten lucky tonight, she would still prove to everyone that ballerinas can compete in a wrestling ring. To that end, Nina announced that, in two months time, she'll be presenting her very own dance recital, right here in RWF.

D
The crowd didn't get too pumped about an announcement that far into the future. Also, the dancer thing isn't quite biting yet. This could take some time.

Segment #1
Greg McNeish steps into the ring to open the show, talking once again about tradition. After a minute or two, he switches gears, announcing that, starting next month, there will be a tournament to crown the first King of Wrestling.

C-
I'm really happy that the crowd seems to recognize me as the boss at this early stage. The tournament announcement definitely got a reaction.

Segment #2
The lights dim, as a figure wearing a large white robe emerges from the back. He makes his way to the ring, every move slow and calculated. He raises his hands, and the lights are brought back up. He grabs a microphone, keeping the large hood on his head, hiding most of his face. He tells the audience that they are in the presence of a diety, and that all who worship him shall be blessed.

C
The crowd seemed to respond well to this clearly over-the-top character, giving him a good amount of heel heat.

Segment #3
With the hooded figure still in the ring, a rastifarian comes out to the ring with a microphone. He introduces himself as Black Daniel, and tells the figure to "chill out, mon." The hooded figure turns to the intruder, and angrily retorts that, "if you will not worship me, then you will face the wrath of God." With that, he pulls the hood down, revealing himself as Rod 'The God' Todd, of 21CW fame. He tells Black Daniel to prepare for the end of his days.

C
Two back-to-back C segments. This is going great. I've got very high hopes for Rod 'The God' Todd.

Segment #4 - Rod 'The God' Todd vs. Black Daniel
A good match, with 'The God' going to the air, while Black Daniel slowed the pace with mat work. In the end, Rod 'The God' Todd was too much, gaining the victory in 13:38.

C-
These guys really gave it their all, showing a fair amount of chemistry. Not a bad debut for these guys

Segment #5
Rod 'The God' Todd decides that winning the match isn't enough, beating on Black Daniel before grabbing a microphone. He puts everyone on notice that this is what happens to unbelievers.

C-
More good mic work from Todd.

Segment #6
Out of nowhere, two man appear, wearing black from the top of their heads to their toes. They jump Rod 'The God' Todd, leaving him down on the mat. They disappear to the back as quickly as they came.

D
I don't think they see many ninjas in England.

Overall Rating: C-
Perhaps my expectations were a little high after the C+ last month. This was still a great show, and should take us a long way towards the quarter-hundred mark in attendance. Now there's a lofty goal if ever there was one.

Saturday, Week 2, February 2006

RWF Contenders & Pretenders
Held at The Paddington Club, in South UK. Paid attendance of 15.

Dark Segment #1
Glen Ward comes to the ring without his partner, Clinton Washington. He opens by saying that, although he is committed to Psycho Ward, tonight is about taking care of business personally. He throws his hat in the ring (figuratively) for the King of Wrestling tournament. He makes it clear that, no matter who he faces, he will overcome them, and become RWF's first champion.

D
Not bad work from one of our youngest future-stars. He's still green, but he certainly has all the tools to make a name for himself.

Dark Segment #2
Arthur T. Turtle interrupts Glen Ward, calling him a "young punk", who "needs to be taught a lesson." He says that, Pure Gold took him to school two months ago, and if Ward doesn't shut his mouth, he's going to get a repeat.
Greg McNeish stands up from the announce table, telling both men that, since Ward wants to be first, he can face Arthur T. Turtle in the first match of the tournament, later tonight. Turtle & Ward exchange a few last words.

C-
We're off to a pretty hot start tonight.

Dark Segment #3
A new face is out next. The crowd quickly recognize him as Travis Cool, of 21CW fame. He addresses the crowd, telling them that he's been called a "blue chipper" for entire career. Everyone refers to him as having a bright future. He makes it clear that tonight, that future begins.

C
Whether he becomes champ or not, if he keeps putting up ratings like this, then he's right: The future IS now.

Segment #1
The show begins in earnest with Greg McNeish entering the ring with the King of Wrestling championship belt. He spends a moment talking about how the wrestling landscape of late has lacked tradition and prestige. He says that this title represents the return of those qualities, and that the road to crowning of first King begins tonight.

C-
Note to self: Travis Cool is a tough act to follow.

Segment #2 - Arthur T. Turtle vs. Glen Ward (Round 1)
Glen Ward put up a good fight, but in the end, he just wasn't a match for Arthur T. Turtle, who picked up the victory, and a birth in the semi-finals. Glen Ward looked shocked by the outcome, staring bullets into Turtle.

E
Once again, their match couldn't live up to the build-up. Worse than that, it was a very awkward bout, where both men's timings were off. In a company this small, we can't afford many awkward match-ups.

Segment #3
Rolling Johnny Stones hits the ring next to a good reaction. He puts Travis Cool on notice that, if he even wants to SEE the future, he needs to survive the present, and his present is Rolling Johnny Stones.

C-
It's odd when a 32-year-old is your bitter old man. Oh well, it suits him well.

Segment #4 - Rolling Johnny Stones vs. Travis Cool (Round 1)
These two men met up in a great technical showdown. They traded momentum back and forth, until Rolling Johnny Stones ended up scoring with a roll-up for the three count.

C-
I get the feeling that this will be my standard rating for a Main Event. I just hope that Glen Ward & Arthur T. Turtle were watching from the back, because this is how you're supposed to pace a match.

Segment #5
Rolling Johnny Stones grabs a microphone, adding insult to injury to a pissed off looking Travis Cool.

C-
I'm sure that won't sit well with the "blue chipper".

Overall Rating: D
That's disappointing. I'm going to have to keep Pure Gold & Pycho Ward in the pre-show for the time being. At this point, I'm more interested in building an audience than building stars. Still, the tournament is coming along nicely. It'll be interesting to see who tonight's winners will face in the semi-finals.

Friday, Week 2, March 2006

RWF Defenders of the Faith
Held at The Paddington Club, in South UK. Paid attendance of 16.

Dark Segment #1
Jonni Dyslexic comes to the ring with a microphone in hand. He says that, inspired by Arthur T. Turtle's victory last month, he is also entering the tournament. He continued by stating that, unlike his partner, his victory would come against a worthy opponent; he would be facing Joey Beauchamp.

D
Glen Ward won't like that "worthy opponent" comment.

Dark Segment #2
Nina comes out from the back, entering the ring, to the surprise of Jonni Dyslexic. She flashes him a smile, then takes the microphone from his hand. She wishes him good luck, then shoos him from the ring. Nina then turns her attention to the crowd, telling them that they are about to see a true spectacle. It's time for her dance recital!

D
Jonni Dyslexic seemed to take that well. Women....

Dark Segment #3
Classical music starts to play, as Nina dances around the ring. The crowd, while appreciating her outfit, don't seem to be responding well to the dancing.

C+
I wonder if anyone's ever performed ballet in a wrestling ring before. I've got to say, this got a much better rating than I expected. I suppose I should never underestimate just how horny wrestling fans are.

Dark Segment #4
Greg McNeish stands up from the announce table, looking very annoyed. "Cut the music!" The club falls silent, as Nina turns to face McNeish, a look of shock on her face. Greg tells Nina that this is a wrestling show, not an opera house. Nina retorts back that McNeish makes all kinds of noise about tradition, but he's just as uncultured as MOSC fans. She exits the ring, heading towards McNeish. He tells her that if she lays a hand on him, she's fired. Nina stops, and slowly backs out. They exchange parting shots.

D
That was probably our most intense segment to date. Nobody loses it like Nina. She's amazing. This probably would have gotten a better rating if the guys in the audience hadn't been so pissed off that I put a stop to the peep-show.

Segment #1
Everyone is seated, and ready for the main show to begin, as Joey Beauchamp arrives, getting a great reaction from the crowd. Around his waist is the UCR European Championship. After playing for the ladies in attendance (both of them), he begins to speak. He says that he's conquered Europe, and Britain is next. He's been a champion, but never a King. He continues to say that, although Jonni Dyslexic seems like a nice kid, there's no way he can compete with a "real man".

C+
The crowd was a little restless as this began, but Joey really stepped it up. This guy is going to be a monster!

Segment #2 - Jonni Dyslexic vs. Joey Beauchamp
Jonni Dyslexic put up a great fight, but he just couldn't keep up with Joey Beauchamp, who cruised to a victory, advancing to the semi-finals, where he'll face Arthur T. Turtle.

C-
I think it's safe to say that Beauchamp carried this one. He's so popular (compared to everyone else on the roster) that he could probably pull a D out of a match against a sack of potatoes. Hmmm... I'll have to keep that in mind.

Segment #3
Next out is the man in the white robes, that everyone now knows to be Rod 'The God' Todd. He blesses everyone in attendance, receiving great heel heat in return. After chastising the audience, he says that 2 months ago, he cleansed Black Daniel of his sins. However, he is now scheduled to face him in the King of Wrestling tournament. He vows to help this poor soul see the error of his ways, and accept his God.

C
More great mic work from our resident diety.

Segment #4 - Rod 'The God' Todd vs. Black Daniel
A wide open match that ended when the ref went down, allowing Rod 'The God' Todd to down Black Daniel with a chair. The ref recovered in time for the 3-count, giving 'The God' the victory.

C-
Another great match-up between these two, and a fine Main Event. Will Black Daniel stay down this time?

Segment #5
Once again, Rod 'The God' Todd is ambushed by two men in all black. Greg McNeish (the announcer) refers to them as The Ninjas.

D
You know, I'm really starting to doubt that people want to see a couple guys in pajamas & ski masks kicking the fake-diety's ass after every match. Go figure!

Overall Ratings: C-
Another good show. I like the look of our storylines at the moment. With a roster this small, it can be tough to find good matches for everyone. One case of bad chemistry can derail a company this size. Hmmm.... Perhaps I shouldn't jinx myself.... Nah.

Saturday, Week 2, April 2006

RWF Crown of Thorns
Held at The Paddington Club, in South, UK. Paid Attendance of 15.

Dark Segment #1
Clinton Washington comes to the ring. He professes his anger over being left out of the King of Wrestling Tournament, and makes an open challenge.

C-
He's got some good energy on the mic. With a little polishing, he'll be tearing the roof off the place someday.

Dark Segment #2
Out to the ring comes Travis Cool. He takes a microphone, and says that he'll gladly accept the challenge, eager to prove that his loss in the first round of the Tournament was a fluke.

C
These two played off each other well. Let's just hope that the match can live up to the hype.

Dark Segment #3 - Clinton Washington vs. Travis Cool
Travis Cool easily defeats Clinton Washington in 8 minutes. Following the match, he showboats for the fans, drawing a chorus of boos.

E
Neither of these guys know how to pace a match well at this point in their careers. I even scripted it out for them, but their delivery just wasn't up to snuff. Also, can 15 people really produce of "chorus of boos"?

Segment #1
The show officially opens with Miss Information coming to the ring. She invites Greg McNeish to join her for an interview, which he accepts. McNeish talks about Britain's wrestling history, and building up the King of Wrestling Tournament.

D
I'll win these fans over if it's the last thing I ever do.

Segment #2
Miss Information then calls for footage to be shown of Nina's dance recital last month.

C+
Ah, eye candy. Are there any two sweeter words to a booker's ear?

Segment #3
McNeish then tells Miss Information that if Nina ever tries anything like that again on "my" show, she'll have hell to pay.

C-
The crowd certainly responded better to the rant about Nina than anything about the Tournament. I mainly just wanted to get some face time for myself, and some experience for Miss Information. She looked good out there, and really sold the Journalist gimmick well.

Segment #4
Rod 'The God' Todd then makes his usual grand entrance. He hypes his semi-final match against Rolling Johnny Stones later tonight.

C
I'm starting to think that this guy really IS God... on the stick.

Segment #5
He then turns his attention to The Ninjas, warning them that their attacks must stop or they will "face the wrath of God."

D
I promise you, this Ninja gig will get better.

Segment #6 - Rod 'The God' Todd vs. Rolling Johnny Stones (Semi-Final #1)
Rolling Johnny Stones gets the win after The Ninjas interfere. While Stones celebrates, The Ninjas make a hasty exit.

C-
The Ninjas have gone one step further this time, costing 'The God' a match, rather than attacking afterwards. This is heating up.

Segment #7
Rolling Johnny Stones grabs a microphone before leaving the ring, stating that he is only one step away from becoming the first King of Wrestling.

C
More great work from Stones. Next month, Joey Beauchamp will face Arthur T. Turtle in the other Semi-Final. The winner will face Stones at RWF Ascention, in June.

Segment #8
Before the show can close, Rod 'The God' Todd returns to the ring area. To put a stop to these unwarranted attacks, he issues a challenge to The Ninjas to step in the ring with him.

C-
I haven't checked my records, but I think that's the best response this storyline has gotten. The crowd seemed interested in seeing The Ninjas actually compete. Does Rod 'The God' Todd plan on facing The Ninjas alone, or does he have a plan in the works? If you'll be in the area, be sure to pick up a ticket for the next RWF show: RCW Checkmate

Greg,

this just caught my eye as I was about to leave the forums and I started reading..haven't caught up yet but so far it has been awesome...will be reading right to the newest post tomorrow.

Keep up the great work as I too would love to see a good diary about a small company starting at the very bottom ... you got a new reader right here!

Thanks for the comments, Damaged1, Muppetus Galacticus & tallen1985.

I've got a busy life, so updates aren't as frequent as other diaries, but I'll do my best to keep you entertained. I wasn't sure how people would react to the Ninja vs. God story, so it's nice to hear feedback. To be honest, I still don't even know where I'm going with this, but I'm sure it won't be anywhere conventional.

Cheers, mates!

Edit: Holy crap! I just hit page 2. WOOOO!!!

RWF Checkmate
Held at The Paddington Club, in South, UK. Paid Attendance of 10.

Dark Segment #1
Glen Ward comes to the ring, claiming that Arthur T. Turtle got lucky in the first round, and that it is Ward who deserves to be fighting in the Semi-Finals tonight.

D
More disrespect from the kid. Back in my day....

Dark Segment #2
Jonni Dyslexic interrupts, calling Ward a "punk kid", and challenging him to a match. Ward says that he'll be happy to do just as Joey Beauchamp did last time: Pin Dyslexic cleanly in the middle of the ring.

D
I really expected better from these two, but for the lesser known halves of both tag teams, this will do.

Dark Segment #3 - Jonni Dyslexic vs. Glen Ward
Jonni Dyslexic picks up the clean victory. As he walks out, Glen Ward turns back to the ring, telling Dyslexic that "this isn't over."

E
Again, considering their lack of popularity, this isn't a bad rating. They both need work on their pacing in the ring, but they showed good chemistry. There just might be a future to this feud.

Segment #1
Out to officially start the show is Joey Beauchamp, who draws a great reaction from the "crowd", as he struts around the ring smirking. He proceeds to welcome all the "lowly peasants" to RWF Checkmate. He turns his attention to Arthur T. Turtle, calling him a "classless brute", and promising him a "lesson in civility."

C+
The crowd was a little restless after the rather dry pre-show, but you can always count on Beauchamp to get them involved.

Segment #2
This brings Arthur T. Turtle to the ring, to a mild cheer. He steps up to Beauchamp, saying that, whereas Beauchamp struts around like he owns the place, he prefers to do his talking in the ring. Beauchamp replies that, if he were as poor a speaker as Turtle, he'd keep his mouth shut too.

C
The audience seems to be getting into the show, although Turtle looks out-matched and out-classed against Beauchamp. It's clear who the favourite is.

Segment #3 - Arthur T. Turtle vs. Joey Beauchamp (Semi-Final #2)
A grueling match, these two went at it for well over 20 minutes, before Glen Ward interfered, giving Joey Beauchamp the victory.

C-
What a match. Arthur's starting to develop a reputation as a tremendous competitor. He's certainly got the skills, but he needs to work on finishing his opponents.

Segment #4
Following the match, Jonni Dyslexic comes to the ring, stopping any further attacks on his partner. Glen Ward rolls out of the ring, grabbing a microphone before leaving the arena. He warns Pure Gold that he and his partner, Clinton Washington, will continue to be a thorn in their side until they are shown the respect that they deserve.
Pure Gold respond by saying that, if these "babies" are so intent on picking a fight, they've got one. They tell Ward that he's bitten off more than he can chew.
The show ends with Ward staring at the ring, wearing a sh*t-eating grin, before disappearing to the back.

C-
I didn't know if it was a good idea to close my show with the least over members of my roster, but I'm thrilled with the results. I like the look of this feud.

Saturday, Week 2, June 2006

RWF Ascension
Held at The Paddington Club, in South, UK. Paid Attendance of 24.

Dark Segment #1
Travis Cool comes to the ring, clearly upset. He says that he still can't believe that Rolling Johnny Stones got the lucky win against him in the First Round of the Tournament. To top that, he made it into the Finals because his Semi-Final opponent, Rod 'The God' Todd, was attacked by not one, but two men during the match. Cool says that, to prove who the better man is, he is issuing an open challenge for a match right now.

C-
Talk about jealousy. Travis has got to learn to keep his... Cool. I'm sorry; I couldn't help myself.

Dark Segment #2
Travis Cool continues to wait in the ring, when Black Daniel appears from the back, strolling to the ring with a smile on his face. He tells Travis that he apparantly needs a lesson in "chillin' out, mon." Cool nearly laughs in his face, and tells the ref to ring the bell, as he wants to teach this "hippie" some respect.

D
I still don't know what to do with Black Daniel. A rastafarian is hard to book seriously in Britain.

Dark Segment #3 - Black Daniel vs. Travis Cool
Travis Cool defeats Black Daniel cleanly in 13 minutes.

C-
Travis Cool had great intensity out there. It was clear that he wanted to send a message to Rolling Johnny Stones.

Segment #1
For the second month in a row, the show opens with Joey Beauchamp coming out to the ring. He immediately turns his attention to Rolling Johnny Stones, saying that a degenerate like him could never be an adequate King. It takes grace, and a commanding presence to rule the wrestling world, and in this ring tonight, Beauchamp promises to make it clear to all who that man is.

B-
What a segment! The crowd was hot, and Joey was on the mark. This is the new benchmark for ratings. I can't wait for the Finals coming up.

Segment #2
Up next is Greg McNeish. He enters the ring with a crown. He spends a moment speaking of the prestige of the crown, and the title King of Wrestling.
He then speaks of the appalling amount of interference that has been seen in Tournament matches, and how sickening it all is. He turns to the locker room, and says that anyone who interferes in tonight's Final match will be immediately fired from the RWF.

D
What can I say? I'm no Joey Beauchamp.

Segment #3
Rolling Johnny Stones is out next to a rousing applause. He begins by saying that a "stuck up, slimy, pretty-boy" like Joey Beauchamp can never truly be a King. He continues by saying that tonight, he will show Beauchamp what a real man fights like, and what a true King is.

C-

Segment #4
Suddenly, Travis Cool emerges from the back, and enters the ring. Johnny Stones reminds him of McNeish's warning regarding interference, and tells him, that whatever his beef is, he'd better save it for another night, saying that after he wins the title, he'd be happy to put it on the line against Cool.
Travis Cool steps up to Stones, and says that he "forgot one thing: It's only interference if the match has already started." With that, Travis Cool smashes the microphone over Rolling Johnny Stones' head, dropping him to the mat. After a few stomps, he calls the ref to the ring, because "this chump is ready for the match."

C-
I get the feeling that this isn't over by a long shot.

Segment #5 - Rolling Johnny Stones vs. Joey Beauchamp (King of Wrestling Title)
A bloodied Johnny Stones fights off Beauchamp for 20 minutes before finally succumbing to his wounds. Joey Beauchamp becomes the inaugural King of Wrestling.

C+
What a match. The crowd was fully behind Rolling Johnny Stones, cheering him on as he drew energy from them. This was a historic battle.

Segment #6
Greg McNeish enters the ring, and to a chorus of boos, places the crown on Joey Beauchamp's head. He presents the first King of Wrestling to the crowd.

C
I felt that this required a full ceremony. I'm not sure that the crowd agreed, but they respond well to Joey Beauchamp no matter what he's doing.

Overall Rating: C+

Following the show, it was announced that Rolling Johnny Stones will have a rematch at a later date, preferably away from Travis Cool. Next month, expect to see The Ninjas in action for the first time, as we find out who Rod 'The God' Todd's partner will be (if he has one at all).

RWF Wild Knights
Held at The Paddington Club, in South, UK. Paid Attendance of 34.

Dark Segment #1
Miss Information enters the ring, and introduces Pure Gold. She proceeds to interview them about their feud with Psycho Ward. Arthur T. Turtle was especially livid about Glen Ward's interference in his Semi-Final match against Joey Beauchamp. He said that, tonight, he would ensure that Pure Gold stayed down for good.

C-
Miss Information really is developing into a great interviewer. She did a great job, coaxing a terrific performance out of Turtle.

Dark Segment #2 - Pure Gold vs. Psycho Ward
Pure Gold had the match in hand when Clinton Washington distracted the referee long enough for Glen Ward to low-blow Arthur T. Turtle, rolling him up for the victory.

E
Some day, I swear, the matches these guys put on will live up to the hype.

Dark Segment #3
Psycho Ward remain in the ring following their victory. Glen Ward asks Arthur T. Turtle how it feels to continue his losing streak. Clinton Washington then tells Pure Gold that this is just a taste of what's in store for them in the future.

C-
Jonni Dyslexic had to restrain Turtle from re-entering the ring for Ward's blood. How will Psycho Ward's first victory go to their already big heads?

Segment #1
The show opens proper with Nina appearing for the first time since her failed Dance Recital. She enters the ring, and immediately begins tearing into Greg McNeish for ruining her recital. She says that he will pay for "disrespecting the Dance."
As McNeish rises to respond, she screams a few final words, and quickly exits the ring, returning to the back.

D
I expected better than this, as Nina is quite good at freaking out. However, neither of us are well known to the crowd (especially all these new people), which probably counted for a lot of this. Still, I'm satisfied.

Segment #2
Next, Rod 'The God' Todd's entrance begins to play, but no one appears from the back. Finally, Rod 'The God' Todd stumbles out, but is quickly followed by The Ninjas. They continue to assault him in the aisle, before 'The God' escapes back behind the curtain. The Ninjas give chase.

D
When you don't have any cameras, this is as close to a backstage attack as you can get. This was a test to see how it would work, and I kind of like the results.

Segment #3
With the ring now empty, Miss Information returns to the ring, inviting Greg McNeish in for an interview. McNeish says that he is in no way intimidated by Nina, and that her little threats will get her nowhere but trouble.

C-
I think our new audience members are starting to realize that I'm the owner. That'll certainly help my credibility.

Segment #4
Suddenly, Nina reappears from the back, rushing the ring, and sending Miss Information to the outside. She turns to McNeish, pure hatred in her eyes.

F
Let's just forget that happened, shall we?

Segment #5
As Nina approaches McNeish, he ducks out of the ring. He then states that he is booking a match for next month between Nina & Miss Information.

F
Ouch! Note to self, never lead off the show with almost 20 minutes of speaking segments.

Segment #6
Rod 'The God' Todd's entrance music plays again, and this time he emerges un-molested. Upon entering the ring, he proceeds to tell The Ninjas that, due to their continued blasphemy, they have left him with no choice but to bring forth all the powers of Heaven & Hell.

C-
You can always count on our resident diety to salvage a dead crowd.

Segment #7
With that, 'The God' motions towards the entrance, where a grotesque giant emerges. He has red paint in an odd arrangement on his body, and a demonic look in his eyes. He truly looks like a monster. As he enters the ring, Rod 'The God' Todd introduces the giant as Lucifer. He continues to say that tonight, The Ninjas have opened a gate to Hell, that may never close again.

C
Holy crap, that guy is huge. Sitting at the announce table, I thought he was going to eat me whole. The crowd seemed to be taken back by this monstrous performer.

Segment #8 - The Ninjas vs. Heaven & Hell
The Ninjas clearly tried to isolate Rod 'The God' Todd, so as to avoid Lucifer. In the end, Ninjato A tried to sneak up behind Lucifer, but the giant turned, causing Ninjato A to back into a roll-up by Rod 'The God' Todd. 'The God' grabbed a handfull of tights to gain the pinfall.

C-

Segment #9
Heaven & Hell remain in the ring after the match, as Rod 'The God' Todd delivers an energized rant against The Ninjas. He makes it clear that, even with the arrival of Lucifer, they have not yet witnessed the full extent of his power. He tells them to "repent now, or prepare to face the wrath of God."

C-
Lucifer certainly has a ring presense. Will his arrival be enough to keep The Ninjas away from 'The God', or have we not seen the last of this rivalry. For that matter, will we ever get an explanation for this rivalry?
Expect to see the King of Wrestling, Joey Beauchamp in action against Rolling Johnny Stones next month, in a rematch of the tournament finals. Will Stones have to contend with Travis Cool again, or will Beauchamp not get an easy pass this time. If you're in the London area, be sure to attend.

Saturday, Week 2, August 2006

RWF Dance of Death
Held at The Paddington Club, in South, UK. Paid Attendance of 23.

Dark Segment #1
Miss Information comes to the ring, announcing that, before she introduces her guest, she has a few words to say to a certain "stuck up prom queen", regarding last month. She tells Nina that, no matter what problems she has with Greg McNeish, her attack last week started something brand new.

D
I don't often give Miss Information mic time on her own, and this is why. She still can't carry a segment, but I know that someday, she will be a top female performer in Europe.

Dark Segment #2
With that, Miss Information brings out Rolling Johnny Stones to a good reaction. He begins by telling Joey Beauchamp that, at RWF Ascension, he received a free pass in their match, but tonight won't be another gift.
Stones then turns his attention to Travis Cool. He reminds Cool that he beat him in the middle of the ring before, and he'd be all too happy to do it again. He warns Travis to stay away tonight, or else Stones will have no choice but to knock him down a few pegs, personally.

C-
Great work by Stones here. He's really blossoming as a true contender.

Dark Segment #3 - Miss Information vs. Nina
Miss Information wins this match when Nina brings a chair into the ring, and blasts Information right in front of the ref.

E
Yeah, I know, the ratings suck. In this fed, I'm used to that. I'm really starting to like this feud. Maybe it's just because I like having hot women around the locker room.......

Dark Segment #4
While the ref helps Miss Information, Nina takes up a microphone, and turns to Greg McNeish, at the announce table. She makes it clear that this is the fate that awaits anyone who disrespects "The Dance". She continues by saying that he is lucky she doesn't finish the job right now, and that this is far from over. With that, she taunts Miss Information for a moment, before exiting.

C-
I hope Miss Information was paying attention. This is heating up.

Segment #1
Joey Beauchamp comes to the ring to a hot reaction. After showing off his crown & belt for a moment, he grabs a microphone, and begins taunting his "subjects" in the crowd. This firmly turns the audience against him as he laughs in the ring. Beauchamp turns his attention to Rolling Johnny Stones next, saying that his will not be a short reign, but a dynasty. He continues by saying that just because Stones is jealous, he can't just blame his problems on Travis Cool. He states that he's all too happy to teach Stones a lesson in etiquette tonight, and looks forward to meeting him in the ring.

C+
You must admit, he was an obvious choice for champion.

Segment #2
With Beauchamp still in the ring, Greg McNeish stands up from the announce table, entering the ring. He tells Beuachamp that, although he definitely earned the right to be called the King of Wrestling, Rolling Johnny Stones earned the right to face him for that title, and Travis Cool made that impossible.
At this point, Travis Cool steps out from the back with a microphone. He tells McNeish that he was "screwed" out of the tournament by Stones, and that he is the one that deserves a title shot.
McNeish quiets Cool, saying that, just to make sure that no one interferes, tonight's match will take place inside a Steel Cage. He continues by saying that if Travis Cool enters the cage, regardless of whether the bell has rung or not, he will be immediately fired.
Travis Cool is furious, and begins to charge the ring, but stops just short of entering, as he realizes that it will only get him fired. He stares ice at McNeish, vowing to get his revenge, and the chance that he deserves. McNeish just laughs, and waves goodbye as Cool leaves.

C-
This will be RWF's first Cage Match, and it promises to be a classic. Travis Cool is really starting to get over as a heel, and looked really good out there.

Segment #3 - Joey Beauchamp (c) vs. Rolling Johnny Stones (King of Wrestling Cage Match)
A fantastic match, Rolling Johnny Stones looked to have the match won when Travis Cool climbed the outside of the cage, meeting Stones at the top. They exchanged blows, before Cool landed a strong right hand that sent Stones crashing to the ring below. Joey Beauchamp takes the opportunity to climb out of the cage to retain the King of Wrestling Championship.

C
I've come to expect better from these two, but it was still a successful match. Travis Cool doesn't ENTER the cage, and therefore isn't fired, despite costing Rolling Johnny Stones the title. Will Stones ever get a fair chance? Only time will tell.

Segment #4
While Beauchamp celebrates his victory, Travis Cool laughs openly at Rolling Johnny Stones, who slowly rises to his feet in the ring. Stones and Cool stare each other down from a distance, exchanging insults. The show closes with Travis Cool remarking, "you'll never escape me," before exiting to the backstage.

B
I think this rating is a bit skewed, but I'll take it. This feud has really heated up, and it is only a matter of time before these two meet inside the ring again.
