The Dawn Of The Old Era is a modification of WMMA2's cornellverse that gives you the opportunity to see and shape the infancy of MMA.
The year is 1990. ALPHA-1 unleashes a grueling 60 minute, anything goes bloodbath between two mixed martial arts competitors upon the world. What little flexibility most competitors lack is made up for in sheer strength and brutality. What follows will change the face of MMA forever.
This is when it all began.
So, I've been fiddling around with an update for my previous mod (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57712) and decided to release a new version. It isn't perfect, but I did what I could.
Download:
http://hotfile.com/dl/39980451/38db722/Dawn.zip.html
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RANZKZB3
How to install:
Just unzip the file into your WMMA2/data folder, start WMMA2, and select the Dawn database.
New features:
- Tactics: most fighters aside from cans/rookies/elitists now use their own set of tactics based on their description/persona. What does this mean? It means fights will generally be less dynamic and more predictable based on who is fighting who. Edilberto is known for his striking and defense, so he will employ a counter-based Muay Thai passive aggressive mentality to his fights. Go Yamamoto and Cong Dun were quite the opposite, favoring constant strikes and knock out kicks. Sammy Gaffigan took a wait-and-see approach, focusing little on aggression, but utilizing extremely efficient striking. Kei Maki took the aggressive approach to striking, but always kept his distance to avoid getting taken down, in fact Po Han Yue is like a mini-Lyoto Machida now. Harry Milne is all about using his immense power to get close and wrestle his way to a win while Gunnar Nilsson added an additional ground-and-pound/submission mentality. Zaco takes an ultra defensive approach in grappling and smothering his opponents to victory. Fumiaki Hayashi, while a decent striker, likes to be unpredictable, but patient in taking his opponents to the mat. Of course, many fighters have weaknesses as well like Maarten De Vries' overly aggressive striking that leaves him open for strikes and easy takedowns. These are just a few examples of the ways many fighters should fight now.
- Hiring. All companies will now be super-aggressive in hiring fighters, which should create a lot of competition and no fighter should ever be unemployed for long.
- Lightweight adjustment. ALPHA-1's Lightweight class now ranges from 136-155 to account for the lack of a featherweight division early on.
- Misc fixes/tweaks. I fixed up some of the fighters that still had records in some of the companies. I also boosted the initial popularity/reputation of many starting fighters to allow the AI to gain popularity faster and to create a bigger pool of reputation. I also moved GAMMA's debut to 1991 as well as moved a few other companies back to make the early days a little more competitive.
The one problem that still persists is that the popularity for AI controlled companies usually can't catch up to fighters who reach high international (mainly Foster and Fezzik), so they become unemployed around 1998 because no company is big enough to hire them. I honestly don't know how to fix this.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the mod.
