What would have been the fairest resolution to the Pacers/Pistons debacle?

I am curious as to why the authorities will not be pressing any charges?

Charges for what? Misdemeanor assault? I assume they will, then plea bargain all of them. On an individual by individual basis, there really isn't much there. Just a pile of people engaging in "lesser" criminal activities - the likes of which we, as a society, don't place a big emphasis on enforcing.

If a cop saw a guy throw a beer at another guy on a city street, do you seriously think he'd arrest the beer thrower? A stern talking to, and that would be that.
