Wrespi2 Diary for Mick Foley
Born on June 7th 1965 in Bloomington Indiana. Mick Foley grew up wanting to make an impact, he didnt want to be involved in team sports, he didnt like to depend on others to produce the goods. Foley wanted to entertain and that he did, much to the dismay of his teachers! Foley had always been a big wrestling fan and even joined his school wrestling team sensing that being a lacrosse goalie was never going to keep his attention.
But it was to be a wrestling event that changed his life, on that fateful night when superfly Jimmy Snuka climbed to the top of the steel cage following his defeat against Don Muraco he flashed his trademark symbol and leaped from the cage onto Muraco's prone body. At that point Foley knew that he wanted to make other people feel the way the superfly had made him feel, he wanted to be a wrestler. Following this, one of his high school 'projects' a wrestling 'movie' starring Foley as the cool, hip dude love was shown to a local wrestling promoter who was taken by Foleys magical leap from atop his garage and Foley had his break. He soon began training to be a wrestler with Italian legend Dominic DeNucci. This diary will follow arguably the most inspirational, dedicated wrestler of all time through his career.

Monday 1st may 1983: trying to get a deal, even a PPA one in the tri-state area is an absolute nightmare for someone with no exsposure the only fed working that area is the WWE and they are gaining popularity rapidly at the moment and are far to big to consider a no-namer like young foley. he decides to try and get work in the south, specifically the mid-west area. He sends word to a few promoters and awaits some kind of response.

Tuesday 2nd May: Apparantly lady luck is shining down on Mrs. Foleys baby boy as he is offered PPA deals from 3 major mid-south promotions. Sure he will have to start from the bottom and try and scrap his way to the top, but scrapping is definatly something Foley can do!
The promotions that have offered Foley contracts are:

Foley decides he needs something to fall back on just in case wrestling does not pan out for him. He takes $3000 dolars he had saved and invests it into a share system which should guarantee him a small monthly income which hopefully will cover his expenses which at the moment comes to about $100 a month seeing as his only real outgoing are petrol for his car and jars of peanut butter to eat!

Wednesday 3rd May 1983:
MSW's first event since Foley signed up rolls around, Foley arrived at the arena excited about making his debut but was disappointed to find his name not on the card for tonights show! He had sort of been expecting it the MSW is like a who's who of the indy circuit at the moment with high profile workers such as Jim Duggan, Ted Dibiase and a young high flying talnet known as Blade runner sting. Foley did however end the night on a positive note after spending the evening backstage chatting with the ugandan giant Kamala, the two of them hit it off and seemed to have developed a friendship already!

Three promotions is a lot to work at once; good luck! With SWCW being hardcore, you'll have to keep an eye on your physical state - especially considering you won't be getting much rest.
Still, I'm pretty partial to the promotions you selected. Stick with Mid South. If you can get a tag team with Lord Humongous, you'll be unstoppable. I'm currently playing as that guy and he's a lot of fun.
Foley with his mad man elbows and Humongous with his hockey masked headbutts? Egads.

Friday the 5th May
Mick received a phone call from Joe Blanchard head booker and owner of SWCW
Joe: "Mick we got a space for you on the card tonight if you wanna come down here and work, its against Mr Pogo what do you say?"
Mick: "are you kidding? I'd love to"
and so the match was set Mick Foley to debut against Mr Pogo. Mick was already to go out and surely anihilate Pogo when the ring anouncer caught him off guard with a question that would shape his career greatly.
Anouncer: "whats your name kid?"
Mick: "Mick Foley Sir"
Anouncer: "No real names in here, you'll need a gimmick name"
Mick thought for a few moments before uttering two words which would become synonymous with hardcore and brutality.
Mick: "Cactus Jack"
Cactus Jack Vs. Mr Pogo ($750 purse 80% for winner 20% for loser)
Cactus Jack's debut was to be a succesfull one as he put on a solid match against Mr Pogo. The match was evenly contested and at one point Foley was reeling after Pogo blew salt into his eyes whilst the ref down, Foley proved that he could fight dirty as well taking advantage of the refs unconscious state and hitting pogo with a pair of brass knuckle dusters. The ref came to just in time to see Cactus hit a piledriver and cover Mr Pogo for a win on his debut!
Winner in 12:20 Cactus Jack Rating: C+
This win raised my popularity in one area - all popularity grades remain the same. After the match Foley spent some time sparring at the Gym seeing a 1% increase in his brawling ability.

Wednesday 10th May: So MSW's show rolls around again and still no match for Mick, Again Mick expected as much they just have such a talented roster! He does ponder why they bothered signing him up if there not even gonna use him to job to a few people on the roster.

Saturday 13th May
SWCW are the only promotion giving Foley a fair crack of the whip at the moment and he faces a stiff test in his second match facing Chavo Guerrero Sr.
Cactus Jack Vs. Chavo Guerrero Sr. ($1000 purse 80% for winner 20% for loser)
Cactus really dominated Chavo from start to finish, not really taking advantage of the hardcore rules in place in the match Jack adapted a measured approach. The turning point of the match was when Chavo atempted to hit Cactus with brass Knucks only to have Jack avoid the blow and catch him with a DDT which busted Chavo open a sealed his fate!
Winner Cactus Jack in 8:00 Rating: D
This match improved my popularity in one area but no grade change.

Great work, Panix! Good Luck with Foley.

Another WCCW card comes along with no matches for Foley. But this did give him time to get to know the guys backstage and it seems his friendship with Kamala is growing stronger.

Jack Jack Jack!
Any chance of a tag team with the Ugandan Giant in the future? Would love to see that pair...

Wednesday 17th May
Finally a call came in for Mid-south Wrestling and Foley was to not just make his MSW debut bit has tag team debut as well.
Cactus Jack and Scott Steiner Vs. Rick Steiner and Art Crews $600 purse 80% for winner 20% for loser
The match started at a frenetic pace with Scott going to work on Art Crews. Scott quickly took the match by the scruff of the neck dominating crews before Crews got the tag to Rick Steiner, two brothers duking it out is never gonna be pretty and that was evident as Rick unloaded on Scott and the domination would have continued had Scott not managed to make the tag to Foley. Ater some back and forth action foley takes the inititive by biting Ricks head! And made the quick tag to Scott. From that poin on it was all in Scott and Micks favour as Scott Steiner took apart his younger brother taking the victory with a powerful tilt-a-whirl slam.
Winner in 10:40 Cactus Jack and Scott Steiner Rating C-
The match gained Foley a popularity gain in one area

SWCW have again offered young cactus a hardcore bout. These really play to his strengths and he was only too ready to exept, only problem was his opponent was no push over, Killer Tim Brooks! His position high up the SWCW card is much deserved. However he has seen ceiling in 3 of his 5 matches so far this year and Cactus hoped to make it 4!
Cactus Jack Vs. Killer Tim Brooks
Apparantly Cactus Jacks winning spree had to end here, in sensational fashion! Cactus was overawed by the experienced Brooks who anihalated Foley who eventually passed out due to the thumbspike. This was a totally one sided affair, where Foley failed to land a single offensive move! Back to the Gym for Mick!
Winner in 2:20 Killer Tim Brooks. Rating: F
Foley worked on his chain wrestling raising that stat by 2% he has gone from an F to an E!

The problem with working for more than one fed is that eventually you are going to end up with both companys wanting your services at the same time. That leaves the decision who do you work for? On one hand Cactus had World Class asking for his services for the 1st time does he show them what he can do in a cage against Brian Adias or does he stay loyal to Mid-south and go one on one with Art Crews. It was a tough decision but Cactus decided loyalty was his best policy, besides he had already enjoyed a bit of success of Crews when he was tagging with Scott Steiner and a win would help him get back on track!
Cactus Jack Vs. Art Crews
Cactus took a few early Crews punches but then took control of the bout hammering away at crews with several clubbing blows and even encountering the referee's wrath as he grated Art's nose across the ring wire. The action spilled outside the ring when a clothesline sent Crews over the top rope and onto the outside. After a few moves on the outside of the ring Cactus atempted to get a cheap win with the count out but Crew's was wise to it scurrying back and going on the offensive. After a few weak moves the pair exchanged blows in an exciting period were neither man seemed to be able to build momentum with a flurry of blocks and counters. Things really began to take off as Cactus once again went on the offensive, following up his bodyslam by biting hard on the leg of Crews. Unfortunatly for Foley his atempt at a thumb spike was countered by a pile driver and the losing streak extended to two! That cage match may well have been the better option after all!
Winner in 9:10 Art Crews Rating: E
hmmm.......Foley can't seem to buy a win at the moment! This match was frustrating as i had him on the ropes for a long period of time but he was just too powerful!

Saturday 27th May 1983
another week, another clash of match offers! World class are still trying to book the cage match against Brian Adias but SWCW have offered Mick a hardcore bout against Chick Donovan. Last time he rejected a match against Adias he rejected it. So Mick spoke to Jack Addkisson and agreed to the match.
Cactus Jack Vs. Brian Adias (purse of $500 80% to the winner 20% to the loser)
Brian kicked off at a high tempo quickly putting Cactus into a few holds but Cactus counterd the armbar and took over proceedings with some hard looking punches and thrusts. Foley hit a couple of big moves on Adias and business was about to pick up, Mick reached into his pants and pulled out a fork and started raking at the face of the handsome Adias. Foley jumped to his feet and started choking Brian using the ring ropes for leverage. Foley tried to lock in the hammerlock but Adias somehow manager to counter with a charging bodyslam! And he exited the cage as if he were a child climbing a climbing frame. A truly anti-climatic ending!
Winner in 4:50 Brian Adias Rating: E
More training needed! God it would be so much easier to pay for this training if i was winning a few matches! This time i went for a 1% Hardcore increase. This had no effect on my hardcore grade which stayed an E. The end of month finance report shows my cash level is a paultry $190. Its safe to say Mick isnt gonna be dining at the Hilton this month!
Hey it wouldn't be Foley if he wasn't being shat on from a great height all the time.
07-07-2006, 08:31 AM
yep, its gotta be tough having the 'likeable loser' gimmick!
07-07-2006, 11:06 AM
I really like this diary. Keep up the good work and hopefully one day you can get Foley to the WWF and become WWF champion.

You know whats a really good idea on the back of a two match losing streak? Fighting someone who is undefeated! But Mick thinks to himself 'what the hell!' Tatum has only had two fights this year and they have been over nobodys. So despite his poor form and John Tatum's good form Foley is prett confident going in to the bout!
Cactus Jack Vs. John Tatum ($500 dollar purse 80% to winner 20% to loser)
Tatum started the match with lightning pace firing rights and lefts at Foley and eventuall knocking him down. He continued to dominate proceedings until his punch with the brass knucks was blocked and Foley took to the offensive. The Technical part of the match was now officially over as Cactus layed into Tatum with several headbutts to the back of his skull! He followed that up by actually biting the skull of Tatum much to the dis-approval of the referee! Unfortunatly Cactus took to long to capitalise on the slightly stunned Tatum who throw Cactus straight over the top rope too the hard concrete floor. He proceeds to follow him out of the ring and smash his head violently into the concrete floor. Foleys momentum is almost non-existant the end of the match must be nearing! Foley just managed to make it back into the ring and avoid the count out but Tatum was waiting with the brass Knucks again but Foley somehow pulled a body slam out of no-where to counter the move! another atempt with knuckles was made but again Foley managed to get the counter in! And then out of no-where Foley hits the thumb spike, that really set back Tatum and both men look completley without energy, the next exchange see's both men failing to keep a series of moves going and then Tatum for the second time in the match unceremoniously dumps Cactus over the top rope and on to the concrete floor. Foley looks in trouble as Tatum lands the cardle piledriver on the concrete! This pretty much signalled the end of an exhausted Mick Foley as he was pulled back into the ring and submitted to Tatum's finisher. The crowd applauded an entertaining bout, but that ain't gonna pay the bills is it?
Winner in 10:40 John Tatum Rating: B+
Interestingly i didnt get a popularity drop after this match! Maybe i have hit rock bottom!

Good job Panix, this is very easy to read and keep up with. I wish you the best of luck in your career.

im afraid i have to put an end to this diary due to the unfortunate blue screen that plagued my computer this morning and the susequent hard drive blanking that followed! Never mind, i will start a RTL diary once the real life data is finished.
07-09-2006, 02:15 PM
I hate the dreaded blue screen. looking forward to when your real world data is finished.
07-09-2006, 10:03 PM
what is the blue screen? And how can I stop it from affecting me?

what is the blue screen? And how can I stop it from affecting me?
i would recomend a couple of things:
Don't use file sharing sites
Don't visit Pornography sites
Don't just turn your computer off at the mains
there are plenty of others but im sure if you avoid all of these things you will avoid the 'blue screen'
