My mafia rules so far:

1. Stay objective: If you can't stay objective about a subject/person then stay away.

2. Discard noise: If information is useless then discard it. Take every statement and decide if it's useful to solving the case. If it isn't push it aside. That sometimes means paying attention to information that seems asinine and sometime means ignoring seemingly major statements.

3. Don't place too much stock in very general hints: This seems counter-intuitive since it's a commonly used means of "claiming", but in fact hinting is a very effective means for scum to stay hidden for long periods in the game. The game doesn't really open up until late when most people have made claims/lots of information is known, so the sooner town know who town are the faster they can catch scum. Broad, general hints about role materials/alignment do very little in the way of establishing claims, however, because it's very easy for scum to claim what they said was mis-interpreted if its disproved later.

4. Post with purpose: Everything you post should be posted to cultivate an image, learn something new or plant an idea that can be used to catch scum or enlighten the town.

5. Do the unexpected: By doing things that others don't expect it creates an environment where scum can make mistakes because they can't stick to their script/plans.

6. Pay attention to good ideas: It doesn't matter who an idea comes from, only that it's a good idea. Respect what every poster says and see if it has value/is worthless.

That's good. I think you are going to turn into a wonderful player. It takes time to refine your play. (I'm still working at it, and still suck) but don't lose yourself and have fun with your role. It's a fun group for the most part. :D

There was a tapping on the door. 'Who is it?', but no reply came. A quick look through the eye-hole didn't reveal anyone standing there. Cautiously she opened the door... 'Awww, how cute!'

He sat bolt upright in bed. He was sure someone was in his room. Peering through the darkness he couldn't see where they were. Suddenly he saw a figure slip out from the shadows but it was too late to for him to react.

The scream echoed throughout the hotel.

Bracing himself he kicked the door open and charged in. 'Damn, no-one home'. He began a search of the room looking for clues until he came across something interesting. 'Gotcha'.

He had his hand firmly clasped on his weapon as he crept into the room, knowing his foe was a dangerous one. But looking around the room it was obvious this wasn't the person he was looking for.

Sensing danger he was hurrying back to his hotel room, peering around each corner for potential killers as he went. He only had one more hallway to go before he made it back to the safety of his room, but someone had other ideas as their blades plunged into his back.

bak42, I've looked into my character, and from what I know, he's got absolutely no reason to be a paranoid investigator. But in a game where there's already one confirmed dead cop, who may have also been an investigator, I don't want to take my chances and full out say that you're scum, based on my result. Though there is another certain aspect about my ability that makes me fairly sure that I get legit results. Of course, I won't be clarifying as to what that is, at the moment, as it's unimportant, unless you plan to come after me with a kill. So tell us bak42, why would you not come up Good Aligned?

I normally hate it when investigators out themselves Day Two, based off of a Night One Result, but I need to get the point out there I'm not really worried about being killed. Don't get me wrong, my character can be killed. But it's going to take one hell of a huge twist of bad luck to make it happen. I like my odds. Though scum can try, if they'd like.

My only concern right now, is getting all this pressure generated onto bak, only to find that I don't get legit results. But again, I'm near certain that isn't the case. There's just too much going on in my Role-PM that reinforces that this wouldn't be the case. Though at least this way, I'll be finding out, for certain. So bak, I think it's in your best interest to begin preparations for defending yourself, from the barrage of questions that are bound to come your way.

Though I guess I owe everyone this much... I'm a Cop. From a well-known movie series. And my character really knows how to unload a 92F Beretta, among other things. That should narrow it down enough to about three or four movie series. That should be enough, for now.

Not really a lot of info here. Doesn't say he died yet gives nothing to say he is alive. Of course, there have been screams of pain when someone was turned.

Axel Foley? Like I when you add in the expletive this sounds like something he would say. But, there is also an interesting list of other people who have had acid thrown in their face both good guys and villains and survived. And it doesn't say this was a death. Look up acid thrown in face and you will find a huge list of people who have survived acid attacks. It took 20 pages on google to construct the list I have.

IMO, it shouldn't be as clear cut as that. Fake investigators never take a dive out of the blue like that, on Day 2 no less. I won't say he'd be ineligible for the chopping block or anything but even if bak was good, there could be half a dozen potential explanations for it.

I'm rather certain that Olivier knows that if we lynch Bak42 because he came up non-town aligned, and he turns out to be town, he's next on the chopping block?

And perhaps the Nexus conclusion was brought about because the alleged nexus was targetted last night and there was a write up about someone being surprised by finding someone else in the night phase? Hmmm.

If he comes up town, O le F isn't necessarily the next to go. There are reasons he could have the results he got.

The second part could be many things happening. Not necessarily a nexus, maybe a busdriver. or a redirection of some sorts.

bak42, I've looked into my character, and from what I know, he's got absolutely no reason to be a paranoid investigator. But in a game where there's already one confirmed dead cop, who may have also been an investigator, I don't want to take my chances and full out say that you're scum, based on my result. Though there is another certain aspect about my ability that makes me fairly sure that I get legit results. Of course, I won't be clarifying as to what that is, at the moment, as it's unimportant, unless you plan to come after me with a kill. So tell us bak42, why would you not come up Good Aligned?

I normally hate it when investigators out themselves Day Two, based off of a Night One Result, but I need to get the point out there I'm not really worried about being killed. Don't get me wrong, my character can be killed. But it's going to take one hell of a huge twist of bad luck to make it happen. I like my odds. Though scum can try, if they'd like.

My only concern right now, is getting all this pressure generated onto bak, only to find that I don't get legit results. But again, I'm near certain that isn't the case. Don't entertain that idea. Read the PM for any hint of a chink in the armour. If there's none I don't see your character being flawed.

Seems too blunt. Again, if he's telling the truth he's useful alive, and would force scum to eventually kill him anyways. A lynch here will likely be a mislynch in my opinion, and that's not worth information we'll get usually.

Personally, I think we're better off looking at the folks trying to push this lynch along heavily, particularly those who seem to be playing dumb and can't figure out his ability. Like they want confirmation to be 100% sure... or just want to pressure to appear townie.

But I have to say I disagree with the point I think you're trying to make. Just because the actor of my character has pretty much gone off the deep end in recent years, doesn't mean my character is affected by that.

The character he plays in my series just comes off as a fearless badass with a gun, and every fighting technique known to man. Still not getting any vibes that my results might be faulty. He's not insane, or paranoid. If anything, he just had aggression issues, in his first film.

Obscure.. dunno. I've at least wasted 90 or so minutes of my life watching Shoot em up. Never even heard of DrillBit Taylor.

That means nothing of course, but I'm not voting because I think the character is obscure, I'm voting because a claimed investigator says he got a result on him

If I get Bak's ability claim then I can understand a pause, but there seems to be no evidence in the write up to back it up. personally, if I had his role, my night target would have been different. Again, meaningless, but it doesn't endear me to his story.
