Please sort out a better way to make freinds with wrestlers.

Paying to play cards is stupid. I would prefer if you could just talk to them. Then if you have something in common with them you get on etc.

I disagree because the exact way you describe it is how it was in WreSpi1 and it was a joke. It was largely random EXCEPT for tryout matches (those almost always gave you relationships, win lose or draw, positive or negative). I'm not too fond of the blackjack thing but going back to the old way would be stupid. Might as well take relationships out altogether if they're going to be as easy to get as raising skills by talking to people.

i kinda like the current system, but then i like blackjack! I do thick if theres going to be a wrespi3 relationships is an area that can be broadend somewhat. But for now the current system suits me fine.

What they both said, the old system was horrible since there was no way to get a negative relationship outside of a tryout match unless you purposefully did it, and you were almost guaranteed to make friends after a few tries. I'm content with the current system though I think it may be a bit pricier than necessary. But it's about deep as I think it needs to be, I don't want it turning into a Sims thing where I have to pick interests and invite people over for dinner and comfort them over the phone. A minigame suits it just fine.

Agreed; I think the price should ramp up as your relationship level ramps up; I mean, really, even if he is a main event superstar, I don't see the logic in paying about as much as it would cost to buy a comic book store to play blackjack with somebody.

I'd also like to see a "Friendly Play" option, so you can practice the various options and gameplay strategies without Love/Hate relationships and a month's salary on the line.

It makes it hard to make friends, EXACTLY how it is in real life. You look at wrestlers in real life, it has taken some of them 30 years(Ric Flair) to put together a large list of relationships. The old system in 30 years you would have a relationship with the ENTIRE database of wrestlers. Please dont change this, its a great system.

You know, since the match grades are pretty much just for entertainment right now, perhaps an idea for Wrespi 3 would be to have friendships created by having a bunch of good matches with a worker.

Say, you and Hell Monkey have a >B+ match, that could move you a little towards a friendship. Have a few >B+ matches together and a friendship would form.

Likewise, have a few <C- matches and a dislike would form.

This would also allow for more dynamic relationships since you could have some bad matches with a friend and they start disliking you... likewise a few good matches with an enemy may turn their view of you around.

Also, perhaps if you get placed in a team and win title gold, a friendship could form between you and you partner. To make that even more interesting, you could turn on your partner later and a new enemy is born. Likewise, maybe he turns on you one day. :)

Kinda makes sense to me... if you have a bunch of good matches with someone and they move to a new promotion, they would likely tell the new promotion how good you are. :)

I actually played a game of blackjack to have a relationship in which i would actually ... you know .. have a relationship with someone but i just play more blackjack.

It lacks any sort of intelligence at all and i absolutely hate it , theres alot of things to do in a relationship , you know .. maybe we could call someone up on the phone ask of there opinions on other wrestlers etc.

How friendships evolve in reality: a little bit of skill, a little bit of luck.

What blackjack involves: a little bit of skill, a little bit of luck.

There is the thinking behind it.

So your saying that paying somone to play Blackjack with you to become friends with them and then play more blacjack once you have become friends with them is logical ?.

How ?.

He's just using it as a metaphor for what you do in real life. So yes, by Adam's rationale, it is logical.

WM is absolutely correct, the blackjack in the game is a metaphor, it is not meant to be taken literally.

I like it, it's not as easy to make friends, but I do have a suggestion.

You should be able to make hate relationships, other than becoming friends and then messing the game up delibrately.

And maybe have it so if you injure someone, they get a dislike for you.

You can get Hate relationships, but only when trying for some of the "major" relationships in the game. I didn't include it for smaller relationships, like the initial friendship.

Yeah, I know. Sorry that was what I meant but I didn't make it clear.

select a stance or approach when you talk to someone (aggressive, playful, worshipful, etc.) and depending on their personality they react positively or negatively. maybe you need 5 consecutive positive interactions to become friends, and so on. this would make it "difficult" to become friends and you'd make enemies by accident, and it'd be less silly than the blackjack thing.

the money, as I can tell, only exists to try and keep you from becoming best friends with richard eisen when you're 19 years old. instead of paying money, perhaps you only get to even talk to wrestlers with a similar level of respect/experience...the others ignore you or say they're too busy.

It wouldn't take long to work out what is the best selection for each personality type, so you'd be right back to the problem with WreSpi1 where you have an obvious path to choose each time. Having to do it a certain amount of consecutive times wouldn't change that, as the person's personality wouldn't have changed - so there'd be no reason ever to change your approach once you know what works.

Hey I'm new to the message board and pretty new to Wrestling Spirit (just bought it) .... But anyway I had a suggestion for this friends debate.

Would it be possible to make personality traits random when you start a new game?

I don't have that much of a problem with the blackjack thing it's just the $ starting out makes it hard to make friends....

I imagine this wouldn't be possible in Wrestling Spirit 2 considering it would mean the friendship part would have to be all recoded right?

Anyway, if all (or most) personalities were random when you set up a new game... Each new game would be completely different and you can't just use the same path each time. Also if possible, it would be cool if people's personalities could develope along with their stardom. Say someone is going "to the top" ... it goes to their head and they suddenly think they're better than you if you are at a lower level .... or the less likely possibility of them helping you come along for the ride. I think randomizing personalities, events related to personality... etc... would make the game more interesting. (Not that it isn't already interesting lol)

I don't know if it's possible to do that or not.... But I think it would be really cool and the random personalities and changes in personalities would be pretty cool.
