View Full Version : World of Mixed Martial Arts III Announced

Adam Ryland
08-01-2010, 05:56 AM
(This will be announced on the front page of the web site later today, but we're revealing it here first as an exclusive for those of you who visit the forums regularly.)

We're pleased to announce that World of Mixed Martial Arts III is going to be the next Grey Dog Software game. It is currently scheduled for a release in the final quarter of 2010, which at the moment is looking like being shortly before Christmas. An exact release date will be revealed in due course. It will cost $34.95 as with all our major titles.

We will be launching a Developer's Journal, together with a new WMMA3 sub-forum, in a few weeks; this daily event will reveal what new features will be in the game, as well as information on changes that have been made since WMMA2. The game is written using the previous game as a base, allowing us to concentrate all our energy on improvements rather than having to rewrite what is already a solid foundation.

Day One purchase for sure. In terms of sheer hours of enjoyment, WoMMA2 has to rank in my top five video games of all time and I'm positively salivating at the thought of a new edition. Thanks, Adam!

This is huge. I figured this was the next most likely candidate after WreSpi3 got indefinitely delayed, but I am a huge fan(boy) of everything Adam is involved with. Just one request though. Please don't start the gameworld over again. I'm an admitted lore junkie and the reboot almost prevented me from getting into WMMA2. Otherwise, I'm tingling with anticipation of new features and especially to see how the Cverse has progressed.

lol, i was thinking just now when WMMA 3, just got my answer :D Glad to hear this is coming out, best MMA sim around currently.

I hope there will be an option to make the contracts\financial's automated, (at least for the company fighter renewals) that is one of the biggest pain in the asses in a game which is primarily a booking game.

I been thinking about this for a while, and something told me to check this site for updates today and oh yess!! Just what I wanted to here WMMA 3 this year yay its the right time for sure. Don't forget to put in belts for all the orgs this time and also I would love to be able to book and control the smaller orgs that I buy out and own. Thanks adam for making part 3 so soon.

No one's even put out a solid real world mod for WMMA2 yet!

Ive been working on one from scratch.... im like 500 fighters in, I will probably wait till 3 is out to release it. I always use to mod, update, and add fighters to the current mods that are out so there wasnt a need for me to download em....it kinda spawned into like my own "hijack" version of what was out.

But I always wanted a Real world MOD where the fighter stats where correctly set, with the belt ranges in mind. Like a fighter with Good/Solid punching power should be above 61...deadly punching power would be in the 71 and up range.
Thats my approach to creating and adding fighters along with watch video and scouting em.

I got new picture packs, and a new skin ive been working on also I will put em up for yall to use before hand tho.

Awesome. WMMA 2 is still constantly running on my computer, so I'm definitely looking forward to a new version. There's really not a whole lot of major problems with 2, so hopefully some of the development time can go into new features, some additional depth wouldn't hurt.

But yeah, I've been playing Adam Ryland games for about a decade, and it looks like this decade will be great as well!

Please let there be an option to book tag team MMA in this one because that would hilarious.

captain_awesome
08-03-2010, 04:15 PM
Contract negotians need to be completely re-worked for the new game. I'm sure Adam knows this. It should be more like an actual negotiation, where you send out an offer with your terms and have to wait to hear back as the fighter mulls over all his options.

There needs to be an option when a fighter doesn't make weight for a fight. You should have the option of making the fight openweight or cancelling the fight. You should also have the option of fining the fighter yourself. Further to this, fighters should sometimes get injured during training camp and have to pull out of a booked fight, forcing you figure out how to re-book the fight. Playing WMMA2 for however long it's been out I've never had this happen even once, so I don't know if it's possible in WMMA2.

There should be training camp in the game. What I mean by this is after a fighter has a fight instead of saying 'FIGHTER X is taking 3 months off before being ready to fight again' it should say 'FIGHTER X is taking 3 months off before being ready to train again.' Something like that. You should be able to book a fighter to a future match even if he's still recovering. It could say he wants 1 month to rest before training after his last fight and then 3 more after that before fighting, in which case you could go ahead and book him a fight 4 months later. If you don't book a fight for him, he maybe won't start training right away. With this it will make booking more realistic. You could attempt to book a fighter for a fight and he might come back to you and say he doesn't have enough time to train for that fight and refuse it at that time.

There needs to be more focus on interactions between you and fighters. The screen where you can ask a fighter who he wants to fight etc. should be expanded. You should be able to go to a fighter and say 'How do you feel about fighting FIGHTER X' and get a response. Sometimes a fighter should message you and say 'I've been training really hard, give me a fight with FIGHTER X' or something along those lines. Perhaps rivalries could build up over time and a fighter messages you demanding a fight with his rival. Fighters should be able to talk to you without you going to them first. A fighter, sometimes, should be able to tell you exactly who he wants to fight, be it someone specific such as 'Chuck Liddell wants to fight Shogun' or something a little wider such as 'Jon Jones would like a top 10 fight.'

It would also be helpful if there was a filter in the roster screen that would allow you to look for fighters than haven't fought in a specified amount of time. Something like 'Search for fighters in my heavyweight division that haven't fought in 3 months.'

Anyway, that's all I've got for now. Thanks for the games Adam, hope you read this.

Please get this game and all the rest of your games onto Steam! Steam is becoming really popular and I think if Grey Dog Softwares games were on it then all of these games would get more sales. I only found out about WMMA II because someone recommended it on one of the forums on GameSpot.

Also, would be cool if we could create our own fighter and our own orginisation and manager/ owner

Nope; I like it the way it is now as well. Now you start to learn what makes a good main event and you can actually make it yourself.

The return of the option would make gameplay a tad quicker, but I don't need it anymore.

I hated this at first but now I love it as it gives the game a little more realistic feel. I just wish there would be an easier way to show the last time a fighter fought.

I cannot think of many games out there that would be better value at £35, and I mean that. This has given me more hours of fun than even Fallout 3 and FFXII.

Boy, oh boy, I play this a LOT!

I just hope the mods don't take too long to come out, and that the transfer of data is relatively simple.

Oh god yes. It's just awful to check every f'n time someone fought. I could remember a lot of them, but at 100+ fighters in GAMMA, it's just too much.

I only realised about two weeks ago that there's a button that tells you this -'View match history' is a useful single click check, but it would be useful if the fight was listed on the main booking screen as 'Fighter X v. Fighter Y II' just as an absolute failsafe
