Anyone watch this? It is on Fridays at 9pm on MTV2. I seen a commercial for it the other day so I DVRd it. Its really cartoonish and reminds me of a lot of that other wrestling show MTV had a couple years ago.

We no longer get MTV2 as part of our basic cable here anymore. So I can't watch this. Wish I could though. Another wrestling option would be good.

I have caught two shows thus far and I thought it was all right. I do think it is cool to see Amazing/Awsome Kong back on television because well she is awsome (Met her in real life and she seems to be a nice person). The best part of the show is Rebecca Reyes the announcer/interviewer...:D

Caught alittle bit of this, seems ok. Saw couple of matches Charlie "Malice" versus somebody and Rellik verus a guy in suspenders and a mask. I think it is ol' Carlito's running buddy playing a rich masked guy gimmick calling himself Esquire. I dunno what it was but I marked for Esquire alittle and it was good to see Johnny the Bull in his killer gimmick again. I say worth watching simply because it won't be around long.

Yeah, Kia is awesome. Even when stressed out about a canceled flight. :p

What makes you say that? I think it's great for variety. The Deuce needs some diversification in its schedule. Besides, what else are they gonna put in that slot? MTV and VH1 have the reality shows on lock.

No he is talking about lucha librea usa it is on mtv tres also....I enjoy the show. Kong just showed up last week and i hear a certain released wrestler is about to join soon.....someone with caribian roots ;). I enjoy the show alot. It gives a good lucha experience to an american audience.

Name-dropping? Come on, bro, you're better than that. :)

Glance at the show a little while back. Didn't float my boat. Hope it does well, though.

Wrestling on MTV has proven not to last so I don't think that this will be any different.

WSX wasn't that bad but defenitly "cheesy" to say the least :P.
I'm going to check out this Lucha Libre USA now.

I tried to watch a couple of the first episodes. I only watched to see Mark Jindrak and Charly Manson. This show makes WSX look like Monday Night Wars era wrestling. It's god awful

I have been impressed by the action. It is typical lucha wrestling. with a little *very little* sports entertainment thrown in for the american fans. I like the six ring stuff better.

I like how they have their own look going for them. (Reminds me of ZEN if I just look at it) I just hope they stick to the style they have chosen and not drift too far from it like TNA have. If they sign big names, that's cool, just don't sign a bunch of main eventers who aren't going to be able to adapt to the in-ring style. It would be cool to see some of the old cruiserweights turn up there though, like Yang or London.

Heh, not at all. I don't think it's a secret that during my time in Viacom's travel department, Spike was under my purview. I've even recounted my experiences at Destination X 2008 in the TNA thread as well as UFC 85 and the US vs UK Ultimate Fighter season. Some people prefer to be called by their gimmick name, others don't.

What makes me say that Remi? Well couple reasons, one MTV2 will still expect success in the form of viewership/ratings/etc. which I think they can acheive if they marketed differently/better in towns with high latin population. IF they stick to Lucha and wrestlers know to Lucha-istorians. NOW hearing that they just signed David and Reid Flair for some shows has me shaking my head. Not to mention Jindrak is booking and I would say his experience at this is slim if not nil, and what gives him this advantage to book Lucha shows cause he wrestled in Mexico for 6 months? I enjoyed the little I saw and I am down with that Esquire guy, hes cool with me, but I have faith that it will fall into wrestling oblivion.

I've liked what I've seen of Lucha Libre USA last night. I was a little bothered by the main being Amazing Kong/Mini Parka vs. Tigresa Caliente (former TNA knockout Rhaka Khan under a mask)/Chi Chi (Alan Funk doing his KeeWee gimmick from WCW), but the card was pretty good, it was Wrestling Booking 101 and it worked! They built up the main event well throughout the show, started with a solid Trios match (Pequeño Halloween/Neutronic/Medianoche vs. Marco Corleone/Super Nova/Octagoncito), made me care about a creepy stalker angle between Rebecca Reyes and Halloween, built up the feud between Lizmark Jr. and Marco and the Heavyweight Championship tournament through an angle/squash/stretcher job with Solid and Rellik busy fighting Charly Malice backstage (since last show), San Juan Kid and PR Flyer destroyed backstage by IIRC Neutronic and Medianoche to play up the tag team tournament they have going, and the main event felt good and like it got enough time. Despite everything I just described, it felt well paced, nothing felt "rushed" to me like it did with WSX (and the announcers didn't make my ears bleed, another plus).
It did have it's flaws though, Rellik was made to look like he KILLED Charly with a steel chair at the end of their backstage brawl (they were fighting, with Rellik all the while slowly and softly chanting "Charly...Charly" in an actually creepy sounding monotone voice, Charly sees a large pallet on the floor and sets up to hit Rellik with his powerbomb onto it only to get it reversed, the cameraman moves slightly to where we can't see Charly writhing in pain on the pallet and Rellik grabs a chair and lifts it over his head and hits him, then does it again, and again, and cut). The end of the Trios match felt a little suspicious too, unless one count I thought was a fall was in fact only a two count (because otherwise the ref should've called for the bell, both Pequeño Halloween and Medianoche of Neutronic's team having been pinned) and I didn't like the announcers putting it over as a "traditional" Trios match when, correct me if I'm wrong, it was only one "fall" when every "traditional" Trios match I've seen was best two-out-of-three (with Captain pin or both teammates being pinned counting as one fall) but I'm willing to forgive that due to time constraints and the fact that it otherwise remained true to traditional Lucha Libre Trios rules. I'm also not really buying Amazing Kong/Mini Parka vs. the BFF as a mainevent worthy feud, especially with the better looking one building between Marco and Lizmark. Part of that, I think, is due to the fact that the Marco/Lizmark feud is being booked like a mainevent caliber feud while less time was spent on Parka/Kong vs BFF. I would've actually flipped their match with the HW Tourney squash between Solid and Lizmark and used the fallout from that to go out with a bang and make people want to see the Charly vs. Lizmark match that's scheduled to happen on the next show.
All in all though, it was a really solidly booked show and I'm looking forward to catching it next Monday on MTV Tres. Like alden said, it's an Americanized Lucha, so it might not be to everyone's taste, but it's not over booked or over produced like WSX was, the lucha portions are well done and what you'd expect to see, the announcing isn't annoying, and the storylines are fairly easy to follow and interesting.

Lujo Esquire. Also known as Aaron Aguilera, but perhaps better known by wrestling fans as Carlito's old running buddy Jesús. ;) As for signing David and/or Reid Flair, they are actually holding a few shows down in N.C., and David wrestled down in P.R. briefly, so I can see why they might be on the radar. As far as falling into wrestling oblivion, it's replays are actually pretty well promoted on Tres and it's well suited for that station (which they seem interested in spinning off into a Latin-American version of BET) so I could see them keeping it around for that purpose even if it doesn't do as hot on MTV2.

Brother Dracos, glad to hear you enjoyed the show. But if I may suggest something without being the annoying language netcop guy, could you maybe space out your paragraphs next time please? It's easier to absorb your whys and wherefores when I'm not trying to hunt the thought breaks at the same time.

Nice pick up with Carlito here FYI's. Sounds like a good fit too for him IMO. Not even sure who their champ is but... but if he picks up enough dates, new champ.

Yeah I guess this was kind of expected, I mean I caught a couple of show and they were all right. However, the arena that they had it in made the show sort of look like those AWA shows on ESPN Classic. I am not sure if your average fan would be drawn into something that did not look modern. Also, most of the roster was mainly unknown to American fans.
