View Full Version : Relationship changes?

is there going to be any changes to the relationship feature? I think it would be cool if you could add a feature to reflect the depth of a relationship. For example I hate seeing games where RVD and Sabu have a "falling out" or something, because that would never happen with friends that close in real life.

hmm...... im not sure that is really true, if RVD caught Sabu sleeping with his wife or something it would almost certainly end there friendship. I know if i caught my best mate fooling around with my missus i would probably never speak to him again - although i might visit him in hospital! :D

Now THAT i want to see! Reasoning behind the break down of friendships that could make a funny read.

I know. I figured there could be a level on how strong a friendship is. Something set at 100 could break, but not likley. The likleyness of something breaking up would get better as the number was set lower.

I think it would just give some more unnecessary work to modders.

"Bros before hoes" :p

Friendships that last are the exception, not the rule. My only issue is with 05's current penchant of breaking up most starting relationships inside the first year. I mean, in 8 C-Verse games I'm played so far, within the first year, Victoria Stone & Sean McFly divorce. EVERY TIME.

those crazy kids, i thought they'd go the distance! as for your "bros before hoes" comment (which i thought was hilarious by the way) i have been with my missus since i was 17 and im coming up to 24 now, and the bottom line is - i love my best friend like a brother but at the end of the day, hes not gonna sleep with me is he?

yes, he said that as long as i insisted on wearing steel to-capped boots to bed the answer would be know - i think he's being a little bit fussy tbh

Edge - Lita - Hardy

Easy to point out the handful of relationships (in wrestling) that go from very strong to hatred like that. Most people do that with arguements (not always on purpose) but pointing out the exceptions to the rule (be it a 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 or more chance of it happening)..

i would agree that going from best friends to worst enemys isn't exactly commonplace. But regular friendships ending is commonplace - especially if you dont work with that person anymore - all the lads i used to hang out with at school i no longer consider friends. Dont get me wrong i dont dis-like them, i just dont really see 'em anymore.

Edge - Lita - Hardy

Savage - Elizabeth - Hogan

One of those cases of life imitating art, and from all accounts Hogan never slept with Elizabeth, nor was there any real suspicion that that was the case.

what about family relationships who dislike each other, how do you put them into the game?

And Undertaker/Brian Lee/Undertaker's wife!

EDIT: And, to a lesser extent, Foley/Rock after the "I Quit" match. There were some hard feelings about the number of chairshots Foley had to take to the head in that match, and it affected booking decisions for a while.

panix04

it was less about the number of chair shots, more about the fact that Rocky didn't check to see if Foley was ok afterwards. But the point is still the same. :)

In both cases they are distant cousins, you can safely ignore the Blood Relative relationship. They barely qualify to begin with!

doe's that mean dating a cousin is also acceptable? :D

you guys are still focusing on the few cases. You can probally name 10-20 more. But what about the thousands, upon thousands, of blood relationships and loyal friendships that exsist, and have exsisted, and will contiue to exsist, in wrestling till death does it part?

MrCanada

well if you research your girlfriends family history, or your mother and your father's history and such forth, in most cases you will find a family bond somewhere in their backround. Be it they may be 20th cousins or 100th cousins or whatever, but in some cases you may be suprised to see them only apart by 5, 6, 7 generations. Creepy when you think about it, but true. Hell, do a backround check with random people on the boards and i bet alot of us are cousins from somewhere.

Going by that same logic, you could say "What about the thousands, upon thousands, of people who aren't pro wrestlers? Why make a game about the exceptions?"

having seen my wife's aunty and Uncle i sincerely hope we are not related - i cant bare to imagine the mutated inbred offspring from my in-laws!

As for predicting me making a flippant comment, you dont get any points for that - its a gimme

I think the idea of finding out who is related to who on here is a novel one, but it would be difficult for me, cos my great grandad was left on the doorstep of an orphange in Bovey Tracy (hence my surname being Bovey) interesting fact for ya - perhaps not!

You cant make that comparison. You arnt trained into a relationship. The game is all about exceptions. If it wasnt about exceptions every promotion would be the same. If you want to make random comparisons its like "WWE has PPV and TNA does, but no one else does, so no one should have PPV, not even WWE or TNA just to eliminate a realistic feature from the game".

A while ago I had an idea for the TEW games.

A relationship would be based on a "percentage" bar. 50.0% for nuetral, and 100.0% being good and 0.0% being bad.

There would be 3 "categories"; Normal, Blood Relative & Love.

This way, you could have relatives that dislike each other, people who hate each other, but not as much as others. Love relationships can mean how long the relationship has been going, eg: Nitro/Melina 10.0% maybe, but Triple H & Stephenie would be like 85.5%

Also, the higher the value, the less likely the relationship would be to change, but not impossible. But this could also range on the attitude of the wrestler(s) involved, wheather they are Jackasses, Proffessional etc.

Eg: Triple H & Shawn Michaels 95.0% making them Loyal to each other, would be unlikely to have a falling out, rather than 2 workers who have a 55.5% relationship.

As I said before 50.0% would be neutral, 50%>-60% would be good terms, 60%-75% would mean a friendship, 76%-90% would be best friends, and 90%+ would mean a loyalty.
The other way, 40.0%-<50% would be bad terms, 40%-25% would mean a dislike, and less than 25% would mean a hatered (Eg; Bret Hart and Vince McMahon may hate each other more than Teddy Hart & CM Punk for example.)

This idea is obviously very complicated and time-consuming and maybe far TOO in depth.

But here is another muchg more simple idea, when you edit/create relationships, let's say the Rock, he has lots and lots of Blood Relatives, instead of going through every-single one, how about having a "mass-selection" Eg: You choose the Rock and highlight all the workers you want to create a Blood Relative relationship with him. Or just select, Rosey, Rock, Afa, Afa Jr. Rikishi, and just select "Blood Relative" and they will all have Blood Relative relationships with each other, this would be handy for "Cliques" and friend-circles too.

Just some of my ideas, looking forwards to TEW2007!!!!

its not a bad idea Ravin, why dont ya put it in a post in the suggestions forum. I think it has a lot of merit and it would be interesting to see other peoples opinions.

Problem with things as they are, however, is that relationship changes happen more insanely than in real life. On my wife's game, there are about 20 broken friendships per month! Now while better than in TEW2004 (where it almost never happened), certainly there should be a happy medium.

I think that this would be an interesting turn of event's backstage within TEW07...

Sept 1 - Sabu sleeps with RVD wife.

Sept 15 - RVD finds about possible deception.

Sept 22 - RVD is suspended for 30 days due to misconduct backstage (attacking Sabu) - friendship ends.

Oct 27 - RVD returns to only do the same thing to Sabu. He is suspended for 60 days.

Nov 30 - RVD returns and is told if he does it again, his contract will be terminated.

Dec 15 - RVD and Sabu get into it backstage. RVD's bitterness towards Sabu is taken to the extreme. RVD is fired.

Dec 25 - RVD recieves a phone call from Sandman telling him Sabu did not sleep with his wife - he did. Merry christmas.

So, RVD loses a friendship and a job over a rumor.

Okay - that was the stupidest thing I've ever written up. But I was extremely bored over the past three minutes, so I decided to do it. :o

Oh and to actually stay on the discussion at hand - I found TEW04 booking scheme very nice, but I prefer TEW05's. I just wish it didn't take 6 months for somebody to want to come back to your promotion.

Are you somehow related to Vince Russo? Because it sounds like Russo came up with that.

Anyway, I think that we need to find a happy medium since friendships seem to break by the dozens each week.

Friendships end, just not as many as TEW generates at a given time. I think there are only a handful of original friendships left on my game which is sad :(

Undertaker/Brian Lee/Undertaker's wife! When did that happen? Wasn't Brian Lee the best man at Takers wedding?
