First off I want to encourage everyone participating to read this post so that each of you is familiar with the rules of this league.
Secondly I would like to give credit to the original Draft your Rost 2007 (Which can be found here http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19257.) Without that thread this one would not exist.
My original reason for creating this thread, is that the original thread allowed only fifteen members, and by the time I stumbled onto it, it was too late. For that reason I was set to allow as many people to join as wanted to. This still stands. Currently there are nine members (including myself) involved in this league. More are always welcome, and I will accept any other interested people up until we begin our draft.
I also have mentioned in the past that this league is for the people by the people. This works in the manner that any rule changes will be voted on and the majority wins. At the current time with only nine participants a tie is not possible but in the event more people join a tie will be broken by me. I don't see any other way to do this.
Also mentiond is that: TEW 2007 is NOT required to participate!
I did and still do sugest however, that all participants at least downlod the game demo and install the real world data we will be using. Without doing so it will be nearly immpossible to compete with those who do have this tool at their disposal. I do assume that most of the members in here at the very least have downloaded the demo and enjoyed the game or they wouldn't be here involved in this thread.
The Draft
Now I will talk a little bit about the draft that will take place to set the participants roster.
What I need from interested participants in this early stage is simply the name and initials of the promotion they wish to include. Each entry into this league is assigned a number by when the entered. For example I was the first to sign up so my number is 1. As you will see below me chris_caulfiled's entry will be assigned to number 2 and panix04's to number 3.
If someone drops out, they are removed from the list and everyone below them moves up a number. Again for example, chris_caulfield decided he did not want to participate in this league and dropped out. I remain assigned to 1 while panix04 moves up to 2 and so on.
This numbers will be used when deciding the order picks will proceed in during the draft. The numbers assigned to each entry will be randomly reordered using http://www.random.org/sform.html. For example, if I were going to set up the draft today, I would go to the website and enter 1 thru 9 (one for each of the current participants) and click on random. This would give me a list of numbers that may look like this: 2,6,5,8,1,3,9,7,4. That would be the order of the draft for the first round. At the very bottom of this post you will find the current entrants and the number associated with them.
The draft will consits of thirty-one (31) rounds.
- Round One thru Round Fifteen will be used to draft workers that will be signed to a written contract (makes the worker exclusivly available to the company that drafts he or her.)
- Round Sixteen thru Round Twenty will be used to draft workers to a PPV contract (allows the worker to work for multiple companies.) During Round Sixteen thru Round Twenty the same wrestler could actually be picked by every company.
- Round Twenty-One thru Round Thirty will be used to draft staff. This includes announcers, refferees, road agents, bookers, etc.
- Round Thirty-One will be used to pick your feds television station.
The start of the draft will be announced at least 24 hours in advance. This will allow for everyone to prepare.
One Hour Time Frame Method
Basically if the draft starts at 12:00, whoever has the first pick has until 1:00 to make his or her. Now whether the first pick is made at 12:00 or 12:59 the second to go in the draft has until 2:00. I see this as a better way due to the fact that you wont have to guess how 'on the ball' the person in front of you is.
- If you do not make your pick in the time alloted to you, you can make your pick anytime thereafter but you have lost your priority and the people who have
made picks after you have the rights to the workers they selected.
- If your pick isnt until 12:00 and its 11:50 and you know you'll be leaving and wont be back until after its your time you can make your pick but if the person in
front of you gets their pick in by 12:00 and its the same person you picked you lose the pick as they would of had rights to it first.
- A list of workers may be sumbitted to me to allow for me to make your pick for you if you are not available to do so. This will be useful if for some reason can
not make it online to make your pick. This option may be exercised at anytime. You may do this before the draft if you do not wish to constantly be loging
on to make your selections, or you may do it if you have a selection time when you may be at work or during the overnight hours. Basically this can be done
for the whole draft or just for certain picks. If at anypoint your list of prefered workers drops below five I will contact you via email or instant message
(whichever you prefer) so you may add more to your list. If you do not respond to this email and you do not make a pick during your time slot, your pic will
be moved to the end of the draft.
I suggest all participants to send a list of prefered workers. I think missing out on a draft pick could seriously hurt, especially in the early going.
Making Your Pick
There are various ways I will accept draft picks being made.
- Via the draft board thread (Will be crated for the draft.)
- Via Instant message to me on MSN (This is only accepted if I am signed in
at the time.)
- Via text message (This is to help those of you, like myself, who have to
suffer the pains of work that interfere with pleasure.)
- Via your prefered wrestlers list (I will make the pick for you and post it.)
- Via email
I believe that this allows enough ways to make your pick that there should be no reason to ever lose your draft pick.
Trades
Trades will be allowed before during and after the draft. Workers, staff members, cash, and draft picks may all be traded.
Other Information
I am sure that once TEW 2007 has been released rules will be added and modified. All rules dealing with the draft will be finalized prior to the draft begining. Rule changes during the course of play will be voted on by all partys involved. I also would like any and all players to make any suggestions they may have as far as rule changes. Remember I want this to be a competition controlled by the people involved not by me.
I cant wait to get this thing started. I hope to have as good of a turn out as the other league does.
