As promised a little earlier in the thread, here's a selection of the renders from these threads all in one place on the CV background. A few of the cuts are a little iffy (white 'shadow' around them), because the program I use somehow doesn't let me just place the PNG on the background - I have to manually cut each one and just recently I've been rushing through them so I can actually play TEW a bit more instead! But hopefully you can still use them okay.

Just want to say how lucky we are to have all these guys doing the renders in this thread - it's great to have some pics to use for those randomly generated workers. You're all doing a great job on them. :)

I have a couple requests, if someone could possibly take a stab at it for some fictional wrestlers I want to create for my wrestling federation

1 (A). Curt Evans - Evans is an all-American type of wrestler, along the lines of Kurt Angle, but with hair. I kind of envision him with a Tommy Dreamer-look, a babyface with a dark t-shirt, blue eyes, something like that. Maybe with an American flag draped around his shoulders because I want him to have a patriot gimmick.

1 (B). Curt Evans, aka, American Patriot - I want this to be based off the character above, but, this is going to be his character later in his career - one he will earn from feuds and his stances and things to that nature. So, I'm envisioning him to have a mask very similar to what The Patriot used to have, but without the eagle, more of a star and stripe mask with no shirt.

2. Muhammad Jabar-Akbar. Kind of the all-around heel, head wear thing arab's wear, stuff to that nature, kind of envision him to look like Sabu a little bit, a little more muscular.

I know the names are kind of unoriginal, but it's a traditional old school type fed, faces/heels.

It's been a while since I've rendered stuff and when I was doing it, Poser 4 had just come out. Fun times. Anyway, I only have one complaint. Your lighting.

Not sure what you're using for the body suit? Is it the standard Michael body suit that comes with it? There is a certain lighting you should be able to use to get rid of the shine effects on the tights(makes it look like he's wearing rubber or metal). Other than that, ****ing amazing.

The American Patriot one looks good. Looks kind of like he's got a Rey Mysterio mask with something of an American flag flap on the back. Not sure if you intended that or not, but I like it. Hell, if they other guy doesn't want to use it, cut it and I'll use it as I appreciate quality work. This thread is awesome and has made me want to get back into rendering.

I posted something of a request earlier, Trell, if you'd like to give it a shot.

Not sure if Trell uses poser or DAZ (or both, lol). If it's DAZ the default lighting model on most objects is Plastic. With some adjustment on the glossiness and specularity it will look different. Altenatively he could try Mattle (sp) lighting model. Anyway I'm not as familialiar with Poser shaders, so I don't know what to suggest if thats what he uses.

Highlights on the jacket and hat were done with the plastic lighting model and Glossiness ~ 70%, Specular Strength ~ 77%. Left at default (50%, 100% I think) the highlights were very sharp and plastic looking. In anycase I'm still at work so I'm going by memory.


Just suggestions. I'm by no means an expert.

Just a tip from the DAZ site:

In the toolbar click the Surface selection tool and use it to select the area that is washed out (the surface which will be selected is highlighted as you move the pointer over the viewport).

Bring up the Surfaces palette (View>Tabs>Surfaces) and go to the Advanced tab: scroll down to the Specularity section.

You can turn Glossiness up (which makes smaller highlights, as you would get from a surface like glass) or the Specular strength down (which leaves the highlights at their current size but makes them fainter, useful for things like suede, satin or rough pottery).

Sometimes this won't entirely cure the problem - there may be a semi-transparent surface in front of an opaque surface, and the selection tool will let you select only the top layer, for example - in which case you will need to identify the problem area by name in the drop-down list of surfaces at the top of the palette, but it should start you off.

Hey guys, Everything has been looking totally awesome! Even the new guys are kicking butt up in here!!

I was wondering if anyone has been messing around with superhero costumes, or people in the comicbooks. I'm trying to keep most of my non forum attention on making the DC/Marvel Database for Panix Sci-Fi mod, and even If I could do it myself, it wouldn't be in the best time period that is set for release of the project. So any help would be great.

I'm not looking for anything specific, just different people or creative looks of people from the Comic books, from hero's to villains, to just the locals in town (be sure to say who/what they are in the universe though, so I know, lol.).

It's a play on the lights, My son thinks she is on the floor. The shadow, or lack thereof, because of the highlight on the floor (and not as much of on her toes, lol), makes it look as if she might be floating. Certainly better than my first attempt was! :)

Two things:

1. Lighting is your friend. Play around with the angle spread and the strength of the lighting until you get a setup you're happy with. Once you've got a setup you're happy with, save it (File / Save As / Lights Preset) so you can use it over and over. Plus, don't be afraid to put more than one light in there.

2. Eyes. The eyes are usually the focal point (at least for me anyway) of any render. If the eyes look 'lifeless' then it can ruin an otherwise good render. There are plenty of eye textures available on the Daz website and i'm pretty sure there are some freebies at Renderosity too. ;)

Certainly better than my first attempt was! :)

Two things:

1. Lighting is your friend. Play around with the angle spread and the strength of the lighting until you get a setup you're happy with. Once you've got a setup you're happy with, save it (File / Save As / Lights Preset) so you can use it over and over. Plus, don't be afraid to put more than one light in there.

2. Eyes. The eyes are usually the focal point (at least for me anyway) of any render. If the eyes look 'lifeless' then it can ruin an otherwise good render. There are plenty of eye textures available on the Daz website and i'm pretty sure there are some freebies at Renderosity too. ;)

Just a follow-up to what taker said.

1. Actually 2 of my best renders in this thread (imo) fallow a simple 3 point light setup. Now lets see if I can draw this :)

B = backlight. usualy set at 100% intensity and pointed at the chest or head directly oposite of the main camera (c). Set shadows off. It's used to bring your subject out of the background.
S = subject (ie the figure your rendering).
F = fill light. Usually around 20% intensity. Set shadows off and pointed at the subject (s) (and usually pointed from slightly back right of the camera). Its used so that the shadows on your figure are not completely black
M = main shadow casting light. Usually set at 100% intesity. Shadows set to Deep Shadow Map. This is the main light that sets up perspective. I never leave this purely white. I change the color depending on the look I'm going for (plus if you add a little refraction to your skin materials it adds to the final tint).
C = camera. Pointed at the subject (s) of course :).

From there it's just a matter of tweaking angles ect.

2. As Taker said good eye textures are key. Once you build up a library then it's just a matter of learning how to play with glossiness, specular strength and reflection (and sometimes finding a good reflection map). I'm still not even close to a master of eyes and they always give me greif. Adjust, spot render, adjust, spot render...over and over and over.

PS that was great for a first attempt. My first was crap.


ugg edit number 2. For the main shodow casting light I usually play aroung with the Shadow Softness and Shadow Bias before final render. It takes a bit of practice.

Edit: Tinkered with the lights and hair some more. Lighting will take some getting used to. I don't really have an eye for that sort of thing.

Ah I see RingofHonorGuard beat me to it. I also was doing something similar and decided to modify her towards your request. Let me know if you at least like the general features. From there I various jackets, jeans etc I could try (character is saved :) ).

I figured I'd help get some of the requests out of the way.

RikRaines:

Hair - Dark Blonde, roughly shoulder length (always worn down)
Facial Hair - Chin Straps with a Goatie (kinda like what HHH had except with the full goatie)
Eyes - Dark Blue
Face - Young (early 20's) usually with a smirk on his face
Extras - Diamond studs in both ears.
Clothes - Always in a business suit....he has deep pockets so suit styles and colors can vary as he would own many different suits.

His basic body build would be a buff build I guess. He wouldnt really be muscular as he has no reason to step into the ring himself, and much

rathers being the guy who is promoting the show. But he is a strong believer in physical fitness and to prove his point to his workers he keeps

himself in fit shape.

Best I can do, I'm afraid. Just tried fiddling with the colours in some photo software, but changing the black didn't work out too well.

Yep. Lots of adjustments were made in the materials tab for just about every surface in that render. Plus a little experimentation with the lighting and shadows. The top is a free top available at renderosity but it didn't quite fit so as you can see I had to play around with a few deformers.

The software is free (at least it was when I d/l'd it Wednesday) and comes with a few free pieces. I haven't looked into how much extras cost since I'm afraid I'll go way overboard (like I did with wrestling DVDs last year :( ).

No worries. They are basically like magnets in poser. You use them to make custom bend a mesh (as opposed to using the dials in the clothing). Default DAZ does not have them unfortunately (you need to buy and install the plugin)

Anyway there are other tricks for eliminating poke through such as composite renders and turning off visibility of underlying parts (which I would have done except the jeans ride too low and if I hide her thigh you get a hole at her hip just above the jeans). Plus I'm getting pretty good with deformer so I don't mind using it.

Yeah I refuse to add up what I've spent (it scares me). On top of Poser, DAZ and Bryce I also have Carrara (although I got it for half price). Likely won't see me doing any TEW characters with Carrara (love the Shaders but it takes more work to set up a skin texture to look good as it handles things differently). I'm just playing around with the modelers right now.

If anyone has time to waste, I've got three characters I'd like renders for if at all possible.

#1: Looks like Billy Reil (http://www.obsessedwithwrestling.com/pictures/b/billyreil/10.jpg), but with slightly longer hair, spiked up and with the ends bleached. If possible, I'd like his pose to be more "stroking his beard thoughtfully" than "pointing at it like a tit" ¬_¬ and have the beard be slightly more grown out, but the same shape. No title on his shoulder.

#2: Tobias Sammet (pre-hair cut!), in computerised render form. (http://www.tobiassammet.com/photos/sammet_a_01.jpg as a reference, but a more "natural, standing up pose" would be better. Oh, and give him his soul patch/royale back. He appears to have mislaid it in this photo ¬_¬. It looks like PRIDE Koiso's).

#3: A render of Mordecai, back when he was still called Mordecai and had white hair.

I'd be extremely grateful for any of the above :)

The sleeves are really snug around his arms on the bottum. Kind of wears the way you would expect a girl to wear it. Pluss, the fluff of the sweater makes it almost look like he has busts (although it's just his chest muscle's).

Honestly, unless he is seriously wanting to make him look feminine, I think a change of shirt would be in order to get the right effect (unless of course it's intended).

For the people (or maybe it's just one person) that has the new Vicky, what is so special about it that isn't available for the one before it (I have the one with the "injections", not sure if the newest one uses that or not.
