Can Someone do a render cut of Roku Sotomura as a Wild Samoan gimmick. Someone did it for all the other samoans other than him.

Ok here we go, here's the Clan Dunvegan minus Sarah, plus redone Alex. The description for Reuben kinda led me all over the place, so alas possibly not what you had in mind.

Great job done with these, I reckon. They're great for the descriptions you were given.

Those really are quite amazing sebsplex. I actually quite like the older wrestler there, like Connery in the Highlander series. If it doesn't work for this Doug character would you mind terribly if I included him in the 1975 mod?

Thanks guys.

Alex and Doug I can probably sort with post work sometime. Reuben will have to go on the backburner for a bit I guess.

Oh and since I had a PM about this, for anyone else who's curious, the character in my avatar is actually a render of my old e-fed character Arias Vigneaux.

A small request for my diary game:

Could anyone make a Phenomenal E pic where he's clean cut? Also if it's possible I'd like his hair to be more of a military style crew-cut (i.e. an inch above the ears is shaved down to the skin, or with just a hint of stubble visable).

Thank you to anyone who gives it a shot!

Doug's hair should be just a tad longer than buzzcut. Think back a few more years of Sean Connery for that. I got a perfect link to a picture for his hair, the bigger one halfway down the page:

Here's the best I could do with postworking Doug's hair...

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/sebstew070.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/sebstew070b-1.jpg

Nice stuff Panix. As mentioned, it'd be a good idea to hide the ears some how either with the dials or photoshop them out.

Wow those are nice renders, I love the headband. I gotta remember to mess around with the lights like you did, my renders might come out better.

I was pleased with how the "headband" came out, although I'm still stuck with resizing and repositioning the suit cumbabund to create headbands at the moment. The only thing with this one was I made a seperate texture to go with it.

As for lighting, there are some good free lighting sets over at renderosity. Try a couple of them and just fiddle around with the settings a bit. The default lighting really doesn't do too many favours to renders.

Either that or if you've got a Platinum membership on the DAZ site, there's a great set for $1.99.

And finally, an older Asian render that I did for Adam initially, but didn't get around to uploading for whatever reason.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/sebstew041b.jpg http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/sebstew041c.jpg

I've provided two alts for it, though personally I prefer the masked version, which was actually just a portion hacked off of the ninja costume (another $1.99 deal).

The first alt is just a nice change. Very simple, yet effective. The second one is just badass enough to get him a job with my promotion (similar to how the new alt for Frankie Dee has resulted in him getting a good push), and the third one... well.... lol!

sebsplex
03-11-2007, 06:03 PM
If you've got photoshop, I'd advise trying to find a good image of a referee's jersey. Cut out the pattern and slap it ontop of a texture, then just stretch to fit and sharpen the image to try to make up for any detail lost in resizing.

I can't say I've seen an actual refs shirt to download from anywhere.

Oh and since I had a PM about this, for anyone else who's curious, the character in my avatar is actually a render of my old e-fed character Arias Vigneux.

Further on to this, I spent a few hours this week rendering a fullbody shot of Vigneux. I'd say it's my best work to date...

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/AriasVigneuxb.jpg

Making a transmap for the vest/bib style top took a while, although the wrist taping was easy enough as were the shorts other than moving and resizing the images on them. At least I saved the template so I can switch the images and reuse it over and over. Actually that's something else I'd advise. Save some of your textures in psd form so you can alter/hide/add layers and then save them as a seperate texture. Recycling is good.

i stuck it on top of the skin texture, i dont know how to create shirt texture's is that something you can do? If so i'd love to know how! I could have a lot of fun with that!

There's some free tshirt textures on renderosity. Just download some with designs on, then open the texture files to see how everything is scaled and positioned. Then, create a new layer, reduce the opacity a bit so you can still see some of the original design and make your own. Then just apply it in the material room, it should stretch far less than texture straight on skin since the front of the shirt doesn't warp around so much. You can basically apply a texture to anything as it will just get stretched to fit the object, hence how I made the cumbabund into a headband for a render on the other page.

I really like that Corporal Doom render, he certainly does look awesome for a US worker in the 70s. For some reason his features also remind me a bit of Rollerball Rocco, and that doesn't bother me one bit!

I'm currently helping out working on the Japanese scene for the 1975 Cornellverse Mod that's currently in the works, and that Corporal Doom was so good I figured I'd see if anyone was interested in helping out by rendering '75 versions of:

I hope this comes out right. That armor seems a little big, like it was for a guy. So her bottom trunks look as if she has ummmm....a package. No t for delivery. But that's definitely a package.

Also, Corporal Doom looks like Freddy Mercury. Kinda like that idea though. From psychedelic hipster to straight edge military type. Like Adrian Adonis in reverse.

The armour i think was for the simon model. I just wanted to see what it looked like on her.

I looked at the older version of corporal doom and figured he was about 50 and fully bald on top, so i thought he might have had the same long locks that most bald people from the 70's have.

Then i got to thinking, maybe he changed gimmicks to corporal doom when he noticed his hair was going. He buzz cut it all off and never looked back.

Oh and the mustache was pure 70's mercury influenced

I wouldn't have a clue how to import poser pictures into daz (which i will have to download again) is it an easy process? 'cos i am fairly happy with the result i get in poser at the moment and it is so easy to use, once you pick up the basics.

Clarity
03-14-2007, 10:18 AM
Well you cant import the picture as such, but you can use most of the poser files in daz. When it installs it asks you for the directory for bits, point it at poser and you can use the parts.

Then just make the same model in each program and compare.

Clarity
03-14-2007, 10:32 AM
Heres an example. Used the same settings for each..

And now Daz:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/adambn/render1daz.png

Like i said. All i did was select jessi, the chipped bob, and a top. I didn't touch the lighting in either version. The only diffence is Daz's render window was a tad larger

panix04
03-14-2007, 10:41 AM
hmmm.... im not really sure which i like the best to be honesy, you can see the default light set up makes for a much lighter face on the Daz picture, but i tend to mess with the lighting set-up anyway, also you can see more skin detail in the daz version, but im not sure how much difference that's going to make when you shrink the picture down to 150x150 pixels. I may give Daz a try (hell it will make my white's better - right?) but im not 100% convinced it will make things look better for me. I think the renders i have seen in Daz tend to have a slightly more 'cartoony' feel to them were i prefer a more realistic look. Like i said though, i will give it a whirl when i have a bit of spait time and see how i get on. Its fair to say i am only doing render's for fun and whilst i refuse to spend any money what-so-ever on my redering hobby, if i can make them look better for free then so much the better!

I think the renders i have seen in Daz tend to have a slightly more 'cartoony' feel to them were i prefer a more realistic look.

That all depends on the lighting really as it can make a world of difference. If lighting is done properly in Studio then it can be as good, or dare I say better, than Poser. Two examples:

"Cartoony" and more real
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/TheUndertakersGraveyard/Misc/bb4.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/TheUndertakersGraveyard/Misc/bb4-2.jpg

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/TheUndertakersGraveyard/DAZ/Lita.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/TheUndertakersGraveyard/DAZ/Lita-2.jpg

I think lighting is by far the hardest thing to get right though and i'm certainly no expert on it.

I'm not quite familiar with render terminology. If you're referring to the girl with paint on her face, it looks quite detailed indeed. Well done, as nearly all things here. (your last render-post was the example on some option: well, I can only point out the obvious and confirm that the second one looks indeed lighter. ;))

As mentioned by J Silver, i'd experiment with your lighting. Not knowing how your lights are setup, i'd guess that you should either move the light/s further away or lower the Intensity setting.
That's a good job for a first attempt though, far better than I did on my first go! :)

Okay, after some messing with the lights, I think I've come up with a finished version I'm much more satisfied with. I didn't notice how big the difference was until I put my renders into the game, but you guys were definitely right about too much lighting. Here's the completed version:

Also welcome to the thread SadisticBlessings. Those are pretty good for first few renders. For your cuts though, you can just import the TEW background as a background (allow the window to resize to scale) and render straight onto it as opposed to having to cut around your renders on the white bg and resizing them that way. As mentioned, experiment with the lighting a bit to add further improvement to your work. Personally, I use a free set from renderosity called illumination (or something along those lines), select the first bright white version and just go through the lights on the orb lowering the intensity and shadow to suit, but there are several other sets out there. Anyway, good stuff so far.

Awesome stuff VBigB. Just looking at those shots is tempting me to buy a bundle of stuff so I can actually make decent female figures. The only minor thing I think would make the shots even better would be if you had photoshop or paint shop and took a smudge brush to the hair a little. Not too much, needed. The only reason I picked up on that is that in the second fullbody shot, the hair just down from her right ear doesn't quite look right as it seems to have crumpled a bit before going down to the shoulder. Like I said, minor but it's easier to point out little things like that than all the good bits :p

SadisticBlessings, your last render reminds me of the lead guy in The Ataris... or at least his evil twin brother who reduced their last album or so to tosh.

Yeah I didn't notice the mangle mesh in that one shot before I rendered, and I was tired and didn't get around to fixing it in post-work either. I might touch that up later today.

Yeah post work is my best friend. I'm always trying to cover little clipping issues and soften hairlines, etc. Sometimes I get a bit carried away with the smudge brush though.

Yet another worker for the mod, I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out:

And, of course, the in-game version:

This is certainly a hobby that makes mod-making much more fun! Fleshing out new workers is much easier when you've got pictures backing you up :D

Oh, and VBigV, those are some great renders. I can only hope that one day I might come remotely close to that quality!

Looking good SadisticBlessings. The lighting on this render is looking far better as well, which always helps.

Might be an idea to zoom the camera in a little closer for the TEW shot, but that's a personal preference thing really anyway as evidenced by all the varying renders in the game already.

I'm looking for a non-gimmicky picture for Christopher Lister (aka Toby Juan Kanobi). I thought I'd seen one done already, but I can't find it. There is a non-gimmick pic included for Jed High, but TJK. So if someone could either point me to the one I thought existed or take a crack at it, thanks. Here's the gimmick pic for reference, but as you can see, having the cloak on means that you could do pretty anything for a non-gimmick pic and it'd probably pass muster. :)

Here's my contribution to the thread today. Hopefully the render is fairly self explanitory. It's a fullbody shot of Dan Stone Jr. Seeing as he was masked, Skull Debones was a lot easier to attempt than trying to recreate another poser (sooooo many different dial combinations, lightings setting and props, textures etc), but this is about as close as I could get.

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j178/sebsplex/TEW%20Diary/DanStoneJnr.jpg

It's kinda interesting how people picture the CVerse workers differently. I can remember seeing a thread where people were describing the attire they imagined certain workers wearing and how many differed to my perception. Basically, this is Dan Stone Jr in my head. Basic trunks and pads, no tats... the kinda guy you'd take home to meet the folks. Actually one of the hardest things was finding a decent black maple leaf on a white background to use for the trunks. In the end I went for a white maple leaf on a black bg and swapped the colours with negative tone before altering the opacity and adding text.

Great render. This one and the mystery render you posted. Lots of character in those faces.

Actually, I didn't post this before but I REALLY liked Sadistic Blessings' tag team of guys that looked a little like Chris Daniels. The one in red could've been put in a different position for the CV pic (maybe a counter position to his partner, so the two are facing each other?) but really just amazing work for your first handful of renders.

Great stuff, gentlemen.

Here you go...

http://poserpros.daz3d.com/store/viewitem.php?selitem=336&start=0&selcat=0&selsub=0

I should mention though, the set is designed for Mike 1&2 so I'm not sure how well it'll work for other figures, since I only really use M2 for everything. I imagine you'd have to conform it all manually using the dials for anything else. Also you only get two texture types with the pack, I make all my textures in paintshop pro as the default ones aren't that hot.

I'm going to try this whole make a request thing. No rush. I know everyone has been busy lately. And I'll be vague, so anyone who tries has plenty of creative freedom. I trust the talent in this thread:

--a hispanic looking fellow. Bit of the 'roid rage (angry, muscular). Bald. Waering a dark blu e policeman's uniform.

--also hispanic. sort of a scumbag. think "one of the biker's in the bar scene in From Dusk Til Dawn." wearing something (hat, scarf, etc) with the Confederate flag as a logo.

Could I make two requests? Not needed urgently, as it is for my own personal mod.

If so, the first is a bulky built Japanese man, with long hair down to his shoulders. All else is up to you.

Second is a smaller Japanese man, with black, slicked hair. Also has a chin strap beard. All other things are up to you.

Thanks in advance if anyone here tries/does this.

No more blinking renders please Taker... I worry I drink too much caffine as it is and seeing stuff like that doesn't help! ;)

Haven't really looked into the animation side of things myself. I remember a guy doing some animated headshots for an e-fed once, but they never really took off and I think were just too time consuming for what they were worth in terms of actually adding to the fed. I'll probably try my hand at it eventually, but with things like 89 minute render times... it may be a while.

Also for anyone that cares, I'm working on a bodyshot of Edd Stone next following yesterday's post.

EDIT: Got most of the shot done... about to start on texture work... trying to think of inspiration for the shorts at the moment.

No dark elves here unfortunately, but I figured I'd share my first attempt at a character already in existence: Danger Kumasaka, de-aged to about 20. Unfortunately I don't have any beards to use, so I had to work under the assumption that he grew it a little later on :D

Hi guys. Ok, that's going to be a....weird request. I know.

I'm looking for a revamped version (of sorts) of THIS character.

http://www.milegend.com/characters/images/katecapsize.gif

or rather

http://www.worldofmi.com/images/fanart/20/Kate_Capsize.jpg

Yep. It's KATE CAPSIZE from Monkey Island II. I'm an oooold old videogame player, and a nerd.

Basically, I'm looking for a long red haired piratess-themed 'rassler-manager. ;)
The pirate garb is cheesy and I don't know, I guess it could be difficult to render, I know NOTHING about the details of the beautiful work you provide here :( .
So, if it requires too much time to do that, just put on her a bandanna, or a neckerchief, or a pirate shirt...heck, just do a complete character make-over if you want: I trust your judgement and aesthetic sense! Just stick to the original color pattern if you can. :D
Good looks, some charisma, the gimmick is played for fun, so make her look cute, if possible. Or at least don't make her too menacing...just a tad foxy, if any. Don't look at the fan-art in that respect, lol. ;)

Don't have much else to say, just... thank you in advance!

Since I know next to nothing about how long does it take to render something, I wonder if you could do two versions of that, one with the full gimmick attire (pirate cap, jacket, the full halloween Burchill costume ) and one with casual clothes (whatever you have, really) with just one or two accessories to give a little hint of a "pirate/gipsy style", like a bandanna, an exotic necklace or earrings, w-h-a-t-e-v-e-r is less time-consuming for you to put on. Of course, one is going to be the pic for the gimmick and the other one for the real persona, that's why I'm asking.

Well here she is...Kate Capsize re-imagined. I did take a little artistic liberty so I hope you don't mind.

I mainly had this finished up last night, it just needed 20 mins or so of post work to replicate the hair, goatee and do a few other little touch ups. I thought I'd post him alongside Dan Stone Jr for the sake of it. I did pale up Edd a bit in comparison.

Again, this is how he appears in my head. The necklace was a little artistic licence seeing as how his headshot in TEW doesn't actually include one. I've always pictured Edd as more modern than the rest of the Stone herd. It's cropped up before on these forums, but I'm also amongst those that by going on his general background and bio feel a certain sense of Teddy Hart for the youngest Stone sibling. I'd appreciate anyone elses view though.

You're right, I didn't even notice that! What I did notice was that the skullcap hair probably could've been scaled down to fit his head better. Thankfully neither of those are noticeable in the in-game version

That's just the basic Michael 3.0 with a bit of scaling and muscle morphing, along with a skin pack I picked up from renderosity; I forget what the name of it was, but I had it for a couple days before finally breaking it out. I especially like the facial hair too, and that was really the reason I got the mat in the first place.

For the Michael 3.0 figure, you just need to buy the body morph pack ($20.00 from the Daz homepage) and they give you like 20 INJ morphs for it. From there you just import it and adjust the parameters - I have yet to really explore some of the body options.

I'm honestly amazed by the renders some of you guys are able to turn out, as I've already spent a whole lot and haven't even gotten into clothing yet! Maybe I'm just not much for finding the good sites, but it seems really hard to find free, or even cheap, content.

Nice work SB. The only thing that seems a little off to me is that the trapezius muscles look a little too overblown (moreso apparent in the headshot) so you could perhaps scale them down a notch. Otherwise, looking good. I should really get another decent high res texture for M2.

Actually last time I looked Panix, Michael 3 was free on DAZ's site. All you have to do is create an account, but yeah some morphs and things are extra.

id like a backstage guy, he has medium length scruffy ginger hair and wearing glasses.. preferably wearing an open collared white shirt, maybe with a suit jacket as well..

basically id like the render to look something like this, but with more of a 'happy' expression and glasses..

http://myspace-047.vo.llnwd.net/01511/74/05/1511065047_l.jpg

timescale isnt really important, but id eventually like to use this in a future diary that i have planned for a few weeks time..

cheers for anyone who attempts this..

Thanks VBigV! Your work is the stuff I aspire to, so it means a lot coming from you! :D

I was wondering, is there any particular lighting set you use on your renders? They all look so perfect in that respect.

I go mostly by feel for my lighting sets (ie I never save them, I set them up from scratch on every render...but it only takes me a min). Basically I use a 3 point lighting set-up with some color adjustment to the lights. When I get back home this weekend I can send you a screenshot of typically what I use.

I'm also using the pw_surface plugin for DAZ which I'm really liking now that I'm used to it. Ambient Occlusion and subsurface scattering really help with the skin (IMO) now that I've learned how best to apply them. The only problem is ambient occlusion is a very expensive calculation and pretty much doubles the render time (especially sice I render at about 1000 X 2000 and then reduce the size for posting here).

Nice render Clarity, love the eyes. Am I right in guessing the left eye (on the firgure) is more clouded and the pupil less dilated because he's blind in that eye?

Was beginning to get the feeling my 1975 junior division needed more color, and thus my friend here was born.

I experimented for a while with the colors on the lighting and am happy with the results, but still need more practice :D And, of course, the in-game version:

Looking forward to seeing that lighting setup VBigB, I have a feeling it's something my work could benefit from seeing!

Go for it! Though I believe it's called Here Comes Trouble or something. I like it, but unfortunately haven't been able to get the braid to work (and that was half of why I bought it! ). Only the first and last sections ever become visible for me for some reason.

If you happen to get yours working, perhaps you could point out something I missed. At least with this guy I'm still getting my money's worth out of it :p

That's right, I was thinking of Brock Lesnar I guess.

Yeah the braid can be a pain. I tried to make it manga/anime size once for a future version of Wolf Hawkins (or his offspring) and managed to get it posed over the shoulder reasonably well. There's a pose option for Freak, D3 or M3 if I remember rightly (haven't got Poser open to check). I'm not sure why you're only getting certain sections appear.

Here's a very early render I made using it. I think this was done in about my first week of having Poser and I haven't gone back to it since or used the braid for anything else...

Not great and with no postwork done, but you can see a bit of it. If you're still stuck, I might try and do something with it over the weekend and post a step by step and try and see where you could be having problems.

If I can request a few renders:

I'd like something similar to Starman of Nintendo's Pro Wrestling, if possible to keep to similar colors of the pink & blue

A pic for reference http://www.ugo.com/images/galleries/wrestling_games/prowrestling_1_th.jpg

Also one similar to this but instead of a star over the face a crescent moon colors black mask with either a pale yellow or white moon.

I had that problem a while ago and kicked myself when I found out what it was because it's so simple!

Undertaker's Top tip of the Day:

Go into the Surfaces tab and select the Braid sub-category, in Opacity it has "Braid_op" applied, change it to "None". :)

Holy F! Nice stuff J Silver.

Sort of reminds me of the first time I saw an Alex Ross comic. I had never pictured superheroes that way, but once I saw it it just SEEMED right.

Eerily human. I expected something that looked like a bad Memphis gimmick.

Now get back in your cage and do the rest! ;)

1.) Lou Ferrigno / Bill Bixby's Incredible Hulk
2.) WWE's resident technician, Khali.

RAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

RAARR RAA RAA RAA RAAGH RAAAAGGGHHHH!!!! ;) ;)

I feel cheeky asking, but would anyone be able to make me a render of myself? Preferably in costume, with the hair worn down. If the ruffled shirt is too much hassle just leave it out and have the render topless under the coat. Feel free to use artistic licence on the costume. Many thanks, you guys are legends!

Hows this:

The hair texture didn't quite match the style which is why you see some colour changes but once its shrunk to 150x150 i doubt you will see it. But i love the lines in it..

Anyway. It was obvious that i would get the Hitman reference because it was kinda who i based the render on.. In fact i finally brought Blood Money today on the 360
