First, I am very happy to hear an MMA game is finally in the works. So I will add some ideas of my own.

Money Wise:

I think it is very important to make the game's financial engine out to where shows barely make even on a regular basis, especially smaller feds who seem to come and go on an everyday basis nowadays. Money making in excess really needs to be limited to the giant feds, who still could lose money on a show every now and then.

I think if you are going to map the japanese section at all, the money needs to be able to be made by TV deals and selling out giant arenas, as well as the obvious, PPV buy rates(which are much bigger for american promotions than in Japan, where a fed made a living off of stadiums and a giant prime time TV deal for their "PPVs". Also, while I don't care to see recap shows, I think an ultimate fighter type show where you can use relative unknowns or such would be cool to see in the game.

Fighters:

Since I assume you have a foundations for fighter stats down, I won't bore you with anything there, but I will add I think it is important that fighters impove, get worse(sometimes quickly and without warning), and that many different types of fighters are modeled, although I assume that is just repeating what you already have been working on.

I would like to see fighters take alot of wear and tear. Injuries should be the norm, and few fighter should be able to fight monthly. I would like to see a block in there where fighters lose skill if they are overused and need to be rested in order to get at the top of their game.

I would also like to see medical suspensions, and even drug tests.

Also, contracts. From what I can tell most fighters sign contracts on a per fight basis, and most contracts are fairly short ranging from 3-7 fights from what I have seen and heard. I would like to see contracts on a per fight basis rather than on a per year/month basis if possible.

Rules:

I would like to see both NSAC rules and PRIDE rules. I would also like the option of using a ring or a cage. Heck, I could even see something ala TEW where there is a check list of different rules(for matches in TEW) and you can click the rules and ring type when setting up or taking over a fed.

Camps:

I would like to see camps of different levels in the game much like real life and would like to see the camps actively contact the player in order to get their "new" or lower lvl fighters that they feel are ready a fight.

Cancelations:

It seems every show in real life has a last minute cancelation. While this may be something that aggrivates the player, I would like to see it modeled in the game and leave the player searching for a suitable replacement, or just outright canceling the fight.

Dark Matches/PPV Fights:

I would like to see the player get a certain block of time for the show and be forced to pick in advance how to fill it, wheter it be hyping a fight, hyping a future show and picking which fights will actually air on the PPV and which will air only to the audience seeing it live.

Also, I think that it is very important that new fighters are almost constantly being cycled into the camps. Obviously some won't be ready to fight for months and/or years, but I think in MMA you are always seeing new guys. Also, people shouldn't feel the need to stick around if they are constantly losing on lesser shows and should drop from the database.

I hope you can use these ideas in the game some way or the other. Other than that I will think to myself and see if I can come up with anything else that may be able to help you out.

The money is good; you should be able to do the basic stuff say 5k to fight and 5 to win. Also you should be able to give bonuses if you have available money after fights to improve someones morale. It's pretty widely accepted that the fighters are paid more then what is reported to the NSAC.

I totally agree with everything that Dubb has stated in the above article. I'm thinking that the contract system shouldn't be too hard to configure. A couple of things that I think should be added into the game would be sponsers i.e. Xyience, Mickey's and such. Obviously until a real world update is available then they would be generic names but you get the point. I think that there should be a lesser degree of relationships in this game because it could greatly affect the game. However, there should be mentor relationships i.e. Tito/Kendall...Randy/Forrest Griffin..Mark Coleman/Kevin Randleman. You get the point. This would also mean that some camps would have pacts to not fight each other as well. One thing that is a huge part of the MMA World would be a fighter carrying in an injury into the fight. Like Rich Franklin being horribly sick going into the Anderson Silva and his proformance was greatly hindered. It shouldn't happen all the time but if it does, it might effect the outcome.
