With DOTT pretty much done, I've decided to take some time and work on a new project. Instead of being based in the real world, we thought it'd be interesting to create an original universe, but with a twist.

The starting year for the initial database will be 1960. But every few months, another database will be released to reflect the beginning of 1961, with all the changes. Each new year will have the following changes:

- Improved or Decreased Worker Stats
- Improved or Decreased Promotion Standings
- Added Rookie Workers
- Added or Removed Promotions
- Changes to Workers (Some may Retire and move on to other positions, while others may Leave the Business early or even die)
- Added Moves (Some workers may come along and revolutionize the business with a new set of moves)

The history of this universe will be documented via a website, giving someone access to title history, promotion history, (hopefully) card history and more.

It's no where near finished, but at the moment, I'm working on the U.S. at the moment. At this point in history no actual promotions exist yet, but each region is represented with a Regional promoter and booker. So the U.S. consists of 9 regions:

New England
Tri-State
Midwest
Mid-South
Pacific Northwest
Southwest
Southeast
Great Lakes
Carolinas (Mid-Atlantic, but I decided to name it the Carolinas)

Hopefully, each area of the World will be represented in the scenario. Which equals alot of workers... But it should be another fun run.

I don't really see the point of this. You're going to release a new database for each new year, and dictate what has changed? I can only imagine it being a very disjointed gaming experience, no chance to get a career going.

Rick Arnold

No, I'm not saying one has to play every new year. If you want to start in '87, you can use the '87 DB and go from there. Maybe someone wants to start a career in '94, when the American Junior scene was a flurry of young and hot talents. Or maybe someone wants to start a career in 1973, when the Dynamic Kid started tearing up the UK wrestling scene. Or perhaps in '82, when the Regional system of the U.S. finally broke down, leading to the emergence of a dominate promotion.

It's creating an original universe and offering people to take a run at it from the beginning, or start a career 40 years down the road with a rich history behind it.

Ah okay. It's a nice idea. I'm still struggling to get to grips with the Cornellverse or whatever Adam calls it, though, as the majority of workers seem to have no picture (at least when you're playing as a rookie).

Will you be going to Poser for yours?

If you would like some help, I wouldn't mind helping.

Rick Arnold

I want to give Poser a try, but if anyone knows it well and is willing to make some faces, I'd be more then happy to give you a PM with a few detailed ones that I need at first.

I also need promotion logos for anyone who can do it. I'll list the promotions and their styles here.

Rick Arnold
02-20-2005, 06:37 PM
Alright, at the moment, the following Promotion logos are needed:

Remember though, this is based in 1960, so keep it in mind when designing it.

Carolina Pro Wrestling (A traditional promotion, based around Mid-Atlantic)
Great Lakes Pro Wrestling (A Pure promotion run like a mix of boxing and shoot fighting)
Mid-South Pro Wrestling (A hybrid promotion, pretty much based on it's real-life counterpart)
Midwest Pro Wrestling (A traditional promotion ran by a former amateur wrestler)
New England Pro Wrestling (Sports Entertainment, think the WWF)
Pacific Northwest Pro Wrestling (A Cutting Edge promotion owned by a theme park mogul)
Southeast Pro Wrestling (A traditional promotion working out of Florida)
Southwest Pro Wrestling (A blood and guts Hardcore promotion)
Tri-State Pro Wrestling (A hybrid promotion trying to survive between New England and the Carolinas)

This is sounding very interesting. I look forward to checking it out when the first db is released.

Work on the U.S. circuit is coming along slowly but surely, as I have approximately 40-45 workers done.

A tournament will be conducted in the next few weeks to crown the very first Pro Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight champion.

Hey, if you want any help creatively (for Mexico, perhaps), I'm willing to give a hand.

Rick Arnold
02-27-2005, 07:11 PM
Hey, any help on it would be great, yea. For the initial scenario, there will be three Mexico 'promotions'. Northern Mexico Wrestling Council (Hardcore ala WWC), and West Central and South Eastern, the two lucha libre regions.

The moves and movesets are copied from the DOTT scenario, which contains several Lucha sets. Although I'm trying to cut down on the flashy top rope moves, but Mexico would be the place where they're popping up.

The initial DB is looking for a few established stars and solid veterans, but mainly young rookies.

1960, huh. Giant Baba and The Destroyer will be ruling the roost.

Rick Arnold
02-28-2005, 06:12 AM
Except this is an Original Universe :)

Don't worry though, many real guys will appear under different personas.

Dick the Bruiser and The Crusher, young Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel, and the Funk Family are just a few who are in the debut 1960 DB.

You need Inoki, Beyer, and Baba. :)

Rick Arnold
02-28-2005, 12:05 PM
Of course.

Lou Thesz, The Gotchs and Rikidozan will make it in as well.

That's certainly true, Leroy McGuirk and Chino Achiu, among others, were using the tope back in 1933, and Gorilita Flores (the man that is said to be the first to use a plancha) and Black Shadow (known for his topes) were wrestling back in the 50's and would be just coming into the popularity they deserve at the start of this db. :) Not that I was doing any studying on the scene at the time or anything. ;)

Alright, here's an update.

There's 19 promotions total, encompassing nine U.S. promotions, two Canadian, three Mexican, one Japan, one U.K., one Scotland, one Australia and one New Zealand.

At the moment, what I really need is names for Luchadores... I could really use a large list of original luchadore names if anyone is feeling really creative. I've got stats and stuff worked out, but I'm really pressed with coming up with names for them. So any help will be extremely appreciated.

El Santo, big Mexican Star, should be in.
Not to sound offensive, but grab a Spanish-English dictionary and take some words that sound like a wrestler would use.

Rick Arnold
03-15-2005, 01:50 PM
Yea, I started using Babelfish over Altavista, translating random words, and filled in roughly 20 luchadores for the promotion.

And El Santo would be sort of tough... he's a real wrestler.

Vladamire Dracos

Here are some of the names I was going to use:

Sombra Del Fantasma
Buey & Toro
El Chacal
Bully the Brawler
La Oscuridad
El Contratista Del Diablo
Sergeo Rafael Baeza

Rick Arnold

Thanks to Vlad, I added about 4-5 more luchas, and one half of the Mexican promotions are finished.

At the moment, there's roughly 170 or so workers. I imagine that 200 will be the minimum I'm shooting for.

A long overdue update, as I continue to pound away on it.

A tournament is in the planning stages, that will pit 32 of the universe's best wrestlers to crown the very first PWA World Heavyweight Champion (as well as determining the title's home and which lucky owner gets to take reigns as President).

Rick Arnold

As the roster reaches 300 workers, I've decided to skip over to start tweaking and creating more custom and 'generic' movesets.

First order of business is to tweak Air Attacks, leaving very few moves outside of the Double Axe Handle, Flying Cross Body and the Bombs Away Kneedrop. This will help create a more 'old school' feel with mat work and brawling. Of course, a large chunk of the incoming rookies for '60 are speedy youngsters, so the new wave of High Fliers is rapidly closing in.

The first move to be heavily changed is the Moonsault:

Moonsault
Finisher (Changed from a High Level)

Frequency: 2% (At this point in time, a moonsault has yet to be seen and as such will be difficult to perform)
Success Rate: 99% (To offset to the low Frequency, if by chance you were to hit the Moonsault, you could almost guarentee a victory)
Wow Factor: 100% (Again, as an offset and that pulling it off would effectively mean you're hitting the first Moonsault in the Universe)
Ouch Factor: 75%
Stiffness: 100% (Based on the fact that no one has yet to take a moonsault, so they wouldn't know how to take one properly)

Impact When Executed:
Body: 90

Impact When Missed:
Head: 70
Body: 100
Arms: 70
Legs: 70
(If you miss the moonsault, it's an almost guarenteed match finisher for you as well, so you better consider your options before blowing it on a move to try and wow the crowd)

The move is also only available to those with 90 Speed or higher.

I'm so excited about this update. I bought Wrespi like ages ago, and I got bored of the no actual wrestler names n **** thing, so I just waited for a real world update.

I cant wait for this to be ready to play. Well done man.

You do realize that this update is not real world, but a creation of Rick's imagination?

Alright, a small update...

This is still being worked on, as I slowly work my way back into doing this.

After a bout of losing all my interest in modding and alienating any friends I had on here, I'm back at full steam and working on this. I should be finishing DOTT '89 in upcoming months though...

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I have a question. Hows it going with this? I read about it some more on a post in some other thread and it got me thinking.
