View Full Version : Favourite Fighter
Just out of interest to see who other people like from the game so far.
My favourite has to be Rafael van der Moot.
-Looks scary as hell.
-Undefeated at the start of the game. I love trying to keep fighters undefeated while still giving them quality opponents.
-Stand up fighter whose strengths are definately Striking, and is able to stop others taking him down. Which ensures his fights are going to be exciting.
-Only 23, so has lots of time to improve...all though he doesnt need to improve much.
-And finally he was the first person to KO someone with a Soccer Kick. Here is how the fight ended.
>A couple of wild haymakers are used to set up a takedown attempt from Ina.
>Ina can't get past the sprawl of van der Moot, and finds himself pushed face-down to the ground.
>van der Moot hits a big knee to the side of the head of the turtled Ina!
>van der Moot hits a devastating soccer kick to the head!
>That kick was right on target, Ina has been knocked out!
>Rafael van der Moot takes the win by Knock Out!
So who is your favourite?

Eiji Masuko. I signed him as ALPHA-1 simply because he was a Judoka. It's a Japanese promotion, that's as much thought as I put into it.
It put him in a one night four person tournament on TV. In the first round he beat Yagi Jokichi by RNC.
In the finals he faced Mikio Inouye. Masuko got him down, spammed armbars, and when Inouye survived them Masuko swept to back control and RNC'd him.
In one night Masuko went from 1-0 to 3-0, low level national, and has a 74% aura. His only weakness is absolute terrible stand up work. But if he can get you down on the ground they are screwed. Masuko doesn't posture or mess around. He goes for the kill.
He also called out Go Yamamoto post-fight. The man has balls.

He looks good for a ground fighter, but would be murdered by a good stand up fighter, especially if the fighter could keep it standing.
If I ever start up a proper ALPHA-1 came I may have to try and set up an openweight Judo fight (as close as I can get to a judo fight in WMMA) between Masuko and Oleg Dorosklov. Would be an interesting fight.

Yoshiro Makamori. He kinda reminds me of Gomi, submitted Yue in his 1st fight, and called Li Kong-Ho next. Oh, and he's a natural heel.

Affonso Villar is my favorite, though he is well into his career in this version so I will have trouble signing him to my tiny upstart promotion. Of the fighters I have signed right now Jerry Bogdonovich is quickly becoming a fav. Looks like a New Jersey version of Chuck Liddell and has solid power. Starts 5-0 and scored a big 1 punch comeback KO in his first fight.

Affonso is really young though, so if you have a long career game with an upstart promotion you should be at a stage where you can sign Villar when he is at his peak or maybe just after.
Affonso is someone I am going to want in whatever promotion I use to give him a fight against Rafael van der Moot when they are both in their prime. If they can maintain good records that is.
Marlon John looks like he could be another fighter I like in the game, due to his freakish Wrestling paired with good skills all round.
If anyone cant tell my favourite division is LHW.
Outside of LHW, Braulio Moura looks like one to watch. Just started a FLB game to get a better feel of their stars.
And I hate Jerry Bogdonovic...I dont know why. He just annoys me.

I like Lamont Banner and Nilton Fantoni so far, only having played FLB. Nilton beat Villar via flying heel hook to win my LHW grand prix and earn me an achievement.
Lamont has a fun style that makes for interesting fights.

Just had Brian Claremont fight and he is unbelievably exciting.
- Branco vs. Brian 'Barrage' Claremont
- From player-controlled event 'GAMMA 1' (from the save game 'Game')
- Created 06 December 2010
>Next up, Branco fights Brian 'Barrage' Claremont in the GAMMA Lightweight division.
>We are underway!
>Claremont counters an attempted flying knee strike with several big right hands, putting Branco down, dazed!
>Branco recovers his wits quickly, and waits for Claremont to make a move.
>Claremont hovers, wary of up-kicks, then dives in to hit a devastating right hand that rocks Branco!
>The referee pulls Claremont away before any more shots are thrown, as Branco is out cold!
>Brian 'Barrage' Claremont takes the win by Knock Out!
>Official Result: Brian 'Barrage' Claremont defeats Branco (Knock Out (Punch) in 0:43 of round 1). The match was rated as being Good.
Edit- And despite losing his last match Go Yamamoto wants a match with this beast.

Luke Hilton in WMMA1, but he just couldn't become an elite fighter in WMMA2. I would have to say Petey Mack is now my favorite and he still seems like a pretty solid fighter in WMMA3 from what I've seen so far.

Patrick Thomas hit him with such a hard uppercut (that KO'd him) I thought the next line of text was going to read:
"Petey Mack is knocked high into the air before flipping 270 degrees and finally landing on his face."

Affonso Villar
When I first started up my FLB, I didn't like him one bit: He's hulking, ugly, and smash-happy.
However, once I warmed up to him, I realized all the great traits he has: He's hulking, ugly, and smash-happy! Not only that, but absolute beast record and very complimenting skills.
I plan on, in the retail version, starting up a FLB promotion and immediately working on having him clear the LHW division (Which has no serious threats to him in the Top 5). Then, I'm going to move him up to a Heavyweight and see if he can best Gladstone Lopes and the rest of that division as well, all the well trying to find or develop a prospect for him at LHW. Should be fun watching him demolish everyone in his way. :p

In WMMA 2 I had a number of favs.
Li-Kong Ho. The most dominant fighter I ever saw.
Anderson Desailey. Love the guy but he sucks. Still I really tried to push him.
Sylvester Collins. First prospect I picked up and boy was he a winner. Always a contender, he smashed most HW's and strangely has developed a really solid jiu-jitsu game in the later stages his his career. He gets triangles now, it's crazy.
Dominic "Smash" Ash. Love his boxing skills. He had a great stretch for a about 3 years. He just knocked EVERYBODY out. He's a bad man but when fell off, he fell off hard.
Raul Hughes. Another great boxer, despite having a crap ground game his hands are just so good it makes him elite.
Fiyero Lermintov. Just love this guy. He never won my title because Li Kong was unstoppable but he was an awesome fighter. Just tough as nails and a real warrior. It hurt when he retired.

I generally play XCC, as I'm a fan of thin, lighter guys, being one myself.
Watson Viana is a guy that I took a shine to in WMMA 2 and continue to try to use in WMMA 3. His skills aren't amazing, but he's definitely pushable for a bit.
Kei Maki has made an impression on me so far in the demo as someone I'm gonna enjoy using. His striking skills make or entertaining fights.
In terms of the Women's Division, I signed Trish Biel and she rocked fellow signing Rain Richards in my first "Fantastic" match, so she's got my support for now.

I don't understand the love for Claremont. I started a FW division in GAMMA and brought him in. In the first round of a title tournament he faced Yagi Jokichi and lost a Very Poor unanimous decision. Claremont threw 76 standing punches (and nothing else) -- and landed exactly 1. Granted, that's mostly due to Jokichi's strong defense, but don't you think at some point you'd come to the conclusion that you can't hit the guy at least TRY something else?

Some of my favorites:
Chelsea Lawson - She was dominant in WMMA1, but kind of sucked in WMMA2. Hopefully the "Wrecking Machine" makes a come back in WMMA3.
Shiho Konno - One of my favorite renders in the game. She was usually a top contender in WMMA2 despite being a pure striker. Unfortunately, it looks like she's been nerfed in WMMA3.
Hester Maclean - Dominating in WMMA1, but fell to top contender status in WMMA2. I don't think much has changed in WMMA3.

I always loved Desailey, even though he's not great. I spoon fed him a bunch of cans and built him up for a big fight where he got tossed around like a ragdoll, and somehow got a gift decision. Good times. :)

I bought Claremont in to be a low-level test for my XCC strikers, and after a couple quick wins on the bottom of cards I thought I'd give him a shot as fodder for one of my big boys (#4 LW at the time), and he walked through him immediately, just like the palookas before him, in what I thought was a fluke win. I was low in both quality and quantity of lightweights at the time, and figured his height and quick start made him a good candidate for moving up and taking a role in the middle of cards, rather than at the bottom of cards as a featherweight........nice idea:

Dude is mowing through my roster like Tyson (not that I'm complaining), press the spacebar twice and the match is over. I've got Jokichi on my roster too, if they both stay hot maybe I'll give 'em a chance to re-live your match.

Bumping
I have 3 Favorites, I'm afraid, I can't choose between the 3 of them.
Hassan Fezzik - I'm a sucker for undefeated guys, and this guy has it all, a title, a big reputation, big performance skills, is undefeated, very powerful, almost unbeatable, I saw him being beaten before, but he is an amazing guy to push and he starts the game at his peak, what else could I ask for?
Jin Katou - This guy has never lost in my game, he's 25 - 0 at the moment, won two 8 person tournaments and has the title, the guy is a beast, all of his matches end on the first round with a punching at mount finish. The only thing that tends to vary is if he gets the mount by going for a nice combo of strikes, for going for a takedown or for counterattacking a Takedown attempt, a huge beast, I love the damn guy.
Zvonimir - He isn't unbeaten, he lost quite a few times in my game and he's a little old, but he finishes every match with Soccer Kicks, I love the guy.
Edit: On second thought, I can choose between a favorite, and its Jin Katou, derp

Phillip Ziskie since he's the face of my company and always puts on great matches.
Benny Denare for being a comeback kid and being the only man to give Ong Ka Ting his loss in XCC before leaving.
Chan Wan Wah for no reason other than winning once with a last second 3rd round head kick which won him knock out of the year. Ever since he's been mediocre but a favourite.

LW: 'The Savage' & Aldarisio

I started a FLB game and never thought much of him. But he's such an amazing BJJ specialist, it's ridiculous. He's not undefeated in my game or whatever, but he's only been stopped once and is a three time FLB Welterweight Champion.
He's won by submission nine times, winning Submission of the Night six times, Fight of the Night three times and Sumbission of the Year the last two years running.

Manuel Silva. He is currently 25-0 and has completely demolished pretty much every top welterweight in the game and almost all of the fights have been exciting.
For his next fight I am going to move him down to Lightweight and have him fight Korekiyo Anzai for the title. If he wins that and is able to hold both of his titles for a while I would like to move him up to Middleweight to see if he can be the first fighter to be champion in three different weight classes at the same time. I have been trying to get a fighter to accomplish this since WMMA 1 and I think Silva may be the guy to finally accomplish it.

Lamont Banner is earning his spot as my favorite fighter in 2006.. He joined XCC in 2001 as a highly reputable boxer, and was dismantled in his first fight by Rafael Tavares.
He then went on a win 2, lose 1 pattern until 2004.
In sept 2004 he KO'd Francisco Jimenez, the start of a remarkable run...
in March 2005 he had a TKO strikes win over Tomorhiro Takeuchi
In August 2005, he has the fight of his life, winning the XCC Featherweight and pounding Phillip Ziskie to a TKO win in 2 rounds
For his first defence.. He gets a special treat in Feb 2006 : A 25-0 Prime Li-Kong Ho, who lasts a whole 1:54 before falling to the canvas unconcious.
All i can say is WOW :D
Isaiah Monroe...Epic Beast. Dominating my mw div. 18-0. 5 title defences.Only Chambers has taken him out of the 1st round aschampion. Still TKO'd him.
Allen LeFleur...signed him as an 18 yo can. Now 22 hes a top cotender and holds wins over a lot of big names. Only lost 2ce.
William Harrison... 'Major Damage'...nuff said

Let me know
I decided to give Silva a shot at the Middleweight title first instead of the Lightweight title, just because my current LW champ (Sukarno) is out with an injury.
The reigning MW champ is Buddy Garner. He had a 23-0 record coming into the fight against Silva and was ranked #1 P4P.
Here is the fight (I edited out some all missed punches, failed takedowns and most failed submission attempts so it wouldn't be so long).
>It's time for the main event of the evening! Buddy Garner goes up against Manuel 'The Prodigy' Silva in the ALPHA-1 Middleweight division.
>The ALPHA-1 Middleweight title is on the line.
>Round one begins!
>Silva is too quick, and manages to hit Garner with a good clean right jab.
>Silva slips past a left jab and fires back with a solid right jab.
>An errant jab sets Silva up to counter-strike with a clean jab.
>From the missed strikes they clinch.
>Clinched with Silva, Garner looks to try and take him down.
>He gets a big takedown and he manages to get side control as a result.
>Garner tries to lock Silva in an armbar.
>Silva gets caught in an armbar! It's in deep!
>Out of the blue, Silva pops his arm free! Garner must not have had it locked in as tight as it looked.
>The lengthy period of stalemate results in the referee standing them both back up.
>We move into the final sixty seconds of this round.
>Garner covers up to absorb a tidy combination of punches and then hits a crisp jab.
>The time is up, and that's the end of round one.
>There's the bell for the start of the round!
>Garner counters a leg kick by grabbing it and attempting a takedown, getting it! Silva gets half guard.
>Garner is trying to get out of half guard and into a better position.
>He gets past half guard, gaining side control.
>Garner attempts to armbar Silva from side control.
>Garner gets an armbar fully applied!
>Garner loses the hold! Somehow Silva got his arm free. That was incredibly close to a finish though.
>Garner attempts an arm triangle.
>Silva gets caught by the arm triangle, but the round ends before it forces the tap!
>Round two is brought to an end as time runs out.
>We are back underway!
>Silva slips past a left jab and fires back with a crisp right hand punch.
>Silva throws out a quick right jab.
>A jab misses, allowing Silva to counter-strike with an excellent combination.
>Garner attempts to wrestle Silva to the ground.
>The takedown is successful, Silva pulls half guard.
>Garner starts trying to work to get out of half guard and into a better position.
>Getting his leg free with ease, he gets to side control.
>Time expires and we come to the end of round three.
>We are back underway!
>Silva avoids a jab and scores with a hard left kick to the legs.
>Garner comes in with a couple of jabs, using them as cover so that he can shoot in.
>The takedown is completed, Silva is on his back and pulls half guard.
>Garner tries to lock Silva into an arm triangle.
>The arm triangle is fully applied, Silva is in deep trouble but is still trying to fight free!
>Garner loses the hold! Somehow Silva got himself free. That was incredibly close to a finish though.
>Garner begins trying to get his leg free of half guard and get a better position.
>Silva can't keep his opponent in half guard, and Garner gains side control.
>Stuck under side control, Silva takes a knee to the ribs.
>Garner tries to lock Silva in an armbar.
>Garner gets an armbar and applies pressure to the arm, Silva is in huge trouble!
>Shockingly, Garner loses it! Silva pops his arm free, and has somehow survived!
>Time expires and we come to the end of round four.
>That round certainly got the fans going.
>We are back underway!
>Silva avoids a jab and scores with a barrage of big left hands!
>Garner covers up, absorbing a flurry of punches.
>Garner has the takedown! Silva pulls guard.
>Garner starts trying to work to get past the guard.
>Garner passes to side control with ease.
>Garner attempts to roll Silva slightly and take his back.
>He does it, getting behind Silva.
>Silva is in increasing trouble, as Garner gets both hooks in.
>Round five is brought to an end as time runs out.
>And here we go, round six!
>A wayward low left kick allows Garner to hit a clean left.
>Garner grabs a slow leg kick and goes straight for a takedown, and gets it! Silva has to pull guard.
>Garner starts trying to work to get past the guard.
>He eventually passes, but only into half guard.
>We are now at the halfway point of the round.
>Silva reaches over and tries to lock Garner in a guillotine.
>The guillotine is locked in, tight enough that Garner has to tap out!
>The winner, by submission; Manuel Silva!
>Official Result: Manuel 'The Prodigy' Silva defeats Buddy Garner (Submission (Guillotine) in 3:49 of round 6). The match was rated as being Decent.
Next I am going to move Silva down to LW to fight Sukarno for the title. Win or lose his next fight after that will be at Welterweight against either Julio Regueiro or Nathan Chambers.

Luke Hilton even if he is not as great as he was in WMMA1.
I also really like Aleksander Ivanov. Why? Maybe it is because he wins in every save that I have had while fighters like Sean Morrison are spotty from save to save. Or maybe it is because he looks like me so in a sense he is my own avatar in the game.:D

My favourite fighter is Toby 'The Judoka Who'll Choke Ya' Sorkin. a 5'9 LHW submission specialist who really has mastered the art of trash talking, and always seems to call somebody out after every fight I put him in, hes unbeaten at 7-0 in my universe and I love watching the things he has to say about his opponents before he's about to fight them, he's making his way through my Sigma rankings like a knife through butter and I'm trying to give him quality opposition while guiding him the best I can.
I also like Sean Morrison who was unstoppable when I did a few years with a Gamma universe, the amount of times I put him in with top level strikers who seemed to look to be finishing him off only for him to find superb takedowns and submissions out of nowhere. I actually tried my best to get him his first loss but he wasn't having any of it.
Also love Niko Soldo, the guy is one bad bad man. Just got that Cold look about him. Very Loyal to my Sigma Franchise also.

So far, I like William Harrison quite a bit.

My spelling might be a bit of on a couple of these, but here goes.
Eiji Masuko. This guy has gone 29-3 in my game, losing only to Manuel Silva twice (with one win against him) and once to somebody whose name just won't come to me right now. Masuko beat him twice though.
Heiko Pander and Hans Christian Bloch are a couple of favourites too. I spent years building them both up as top featherweights, when Hans beat Ziskie for the title. Then put them against each other for the title with huge hype on it and got my first excellent match. Bloch won on that occasion, but Pander is the #1 contender again. Bloch has just two losses and Pander just three.

Damien Jones and Roope Kuqi are becoming favorites quickly as well.
A couple times now, Jones has tried to slap an armbar on someone. Hilarious.

Heiko Pander, god I miss that guy.
Haven't played a full WMMA game in a little under a year. I'm waiting for the Bantams and more updates before I jump into a game. I'm really putting a lot of thought into it, will probably get started in 2012.
I was always a fan of Jerry Bogdonovich and William Harrison. Phillip Ziskie too, first man to hold a women's championship in my game.
