Just a brief announcement to let you know that the DOTT Tag Team World Cup will begin soon!
32 teams will be participating and the tournament will be divided into two parts.
The first round will be in a round-robin format with 8 blocks of 4 teams. Each team will face each other team in their block in standard 2 vs. 2 matches with a 45 minute time limit. Points will calculated as follows:
Win by pinfall or submission = 3 points
Time Limit Draw = 1 point
Loss = 0 points
The top two teams in each block will then advance to a single elimination round until a winner is decided.
The participants and their respective blocks will be announced in subsequent posts.

To decide the participants for the tournament, I chose to enter all current tag team champions and 16 other teams chosen to represent each world area, each promotion (except UWF and Joint), and my personal interest. There are 16 available champion teams, as some promotions have no assigned champions or have a conflict preventing their champions from participating.
The tag champions from the major promotions (National and Cult), 8 in all, were given top slot in each block. The champions from the other promotions were then inserted at random into the second slot in each block, with the 16 other teams assigned to blocks by random draw.
In the next eight posts, I'll post the blocks and then as the tournament progresses I'll edit those posts to reflect current standings.

This is awesome, XoX! You have an excellent set-up for this tournament.
I've got my program, my Heiniken, and the kids have been sent to bed... I'm ready for the first annual 'XoX Tournament of Champions'.
:)
Block A: The Sheiks, Orton & Slater, Brito & Parisi, and The Guerreros
Advancing: The Sheiks -- I am a big fan of 3 of the teams in this block (I dont know too much about Brito & Parisi), but... Patera and Blackwell are monsters in the scenario; especially Patera. Jerry's size advantage gives the Sheiks a major break in this block.
Block B: Jack & Jerry Brisco, The Funks, The Invaders, and The Koloffs
Advancing: Can I take the easy way out and say 'All of them'? Holy cow - this is an excellent block. The Funks have the advantage, in my opinion, as Dory and Terry are an excellent marriage of technical mastery and brute rough housing.
Block C: The Road Warriors, Hart Foundation, Fabulous Ones, and Brothers of the Mask
Advancing: I believe it will come down to the Hart Foundation and Mascaras & Caras. The Roadies are a tad too green at this point. Plus, they will be hindered by not having 'Precious' Paul Ellering at ringside with them. I'm going with the Hart Foundation - Neidharts strength and Hart's ring mastery will be too much to handle.
Block D: The Wild Samoans, Dick the Bruiser & The Crusher, the U.S. Express, and Tyler & Brown
Advancing: Hmmmm... another tough one, but I think that Rotundo & Windham will have a slight advantage due to their youth and conditioning.
Block E: Magnum T.A. & Mr. Wrestling II, Moondog Moretti & David Schultz, The Dynamic Duo, and Dibiase & Dr. Death
Advancing: So unfair... Hernandez and Adams are one of my all-time favorites, but they are facing the favorites of the entire tournament: Dibase & Dr. Death.
Block F: Baba & Jumbo, the SST, The Von Erichs, the R & R Express
Advancing: Thank goodness David Von Erich isn't participating! That bum cost me an arm and a leg in that singles tournament. :) Seriously, the experience of Baba and Tsuruta will be too much for everyone involved in this block. Baba's size will also be too much for the smaller teams here.
Block G: The Fabulous Freebirds, the Armstrongs, Golden Team, and the North-South Connection
Advancing: Wowzers... the Armstrongs stand no chance against these brilliant workers. I'm really torn between the Freebirds and Adonis & Murdoch, as both of these teams were amazing. I'm going with Adonis & Murdoch (another of my all-time favs) -- As incredible as Terry Gordy is, Micheal Hayes is the weak link.

Just awesome!
I have a feeling that the Midnight Express v. Bulldogs match might have been more exciting than the final rating let on.
At least when Davey Boy was on the apron... ;)
It's too bad the fans don't seem to be into the more mat based matches. The Dibiase & Williams v. Wrestling II & Magnum match, for example, ended with a disappointing final rating, even though you would think it would have been a great match.
... At least when Magnum was hanging out with Davey Boy. ;)
The Road Warriors v. Hart Foundation match looked awesome!
And I'm very happy that my two favorites are advancing nicely: Go Dynamic Duo and the North-South Connection!!

A report on the block standings as we head into the final matches. For more match details, check the previous posts.
Block A
Surprising many, Gino Brito and Tony Parisi have secured a place in the Best 16 with two convincing wins. It's down to The Sheiks and Orton & Slater for the number two position, with The Sheiks having arguably the tougher match against the undefeated team from MLW.
Block B
Three teams have an opportunity to advance in this, with only Rip Oliver & Assassin officially out of the running. If Hansen & Brody win against the undefeated Midnight Express, they will take top spot. If they lose, however, and The British Bulldogs win, then the Bulldogs will advance based on the judging of their draw with Hansen & Brody. The Midnight Express have secured a Best 16 spot. Should be interesting!
Block C
The Invaders have been dominant thus far and have secured their place in the Best 16. The Koloffs are officially eliminated, but their match with The Funks is an important one. If The Brisco Brothers should lose their match and The Funks win, The Funks will advance based on judging of their draw with The Briscos.
Block D
The Road Warriors are guaranteed to advance in top spot, but second place is wide open for the other three. Depending on the outcome of the final block matches, The Hart Foundation, The Fabulous Ones, or Brothers of the Mask could advance. Another exciting block to watch!
Block E
Should The Wild Samoans defeat the sad sack Tyler & Brown and The Bruiser & The Crusher lose to the advancing U.S. Express, The Samoans would advance based on the judging of their draw with The Bruiser & The Crusher. Should the Bruiser & The Crusher beat the dominant U.S. Express, they would take the top spot.
Block F
This one is pretty much a battle for top spot between The Dynamic Duo and DiBiase & Williams. Magnum T.A. & Mr. Wrestling II and Moretti & Schultz have no chance of advancing.
Block G
Baba & Jumbo have crushed the competition and so will advance in the top position. With The Samoan Swat Team out of the running, this block comes down to the all important second place match between The Rock'n'Roll Express and The Von Erichs.
Block H
Though The Fabulous Freebirds have yet to win, their two draws and a possible easy win over the underdog Armstrongs would be enough for them to advance. The real battle here will be between North-South Connection and Golden Team. A draw between these two would mean they would both advance, based on the judging of both team's draws with The Freebirds. A clear win for one team will mean the other is eliminated.

Out of Block A it is Surprising that the Guerrero Brothers are out and that Brito and parisi would do so good is shocking.
Block B: the Midnight Express are really Shining , I'd figure the British Bulldogs or Hansen and company would lead
Block C: The Funks Really let me down , i expected the invaders to be on the losign end
Block D: For Being So young I'm amazed that The Road Warriors are Out-Shining the hart Foundation
Block E: Out of the bunch i figured the U.S. Express would take it easily
Block F: Dang anotehr Surprise. I never would ahve figured the Dynamic Duo to make it
Block G: Baba and Jimbo have a fiarly good grip on the block
Block H: I figured the Armstrongs would have done better , as did I with the Freebirds.

Block A: Brito & Parisi's advancement brings with it a fine 'hurrah!' from the old schoolers, I'm sure. They were an excellent team, by all accounts. What surprises me is that the Sheiks didn't do as well as they might have. Then again, they were facing some tough competition there. Bob Orton rules! :)
Block B: The Midnights are one of the single coolest tag teams, in my opinion; Condrey & Eaton were amazing. I'm not at all surprised that they are advancing. What does, though, is that Hansen & Brody didn't outright dominate that first round. I would like to think that had the matches went to a decision, Stan & Frank would have gotten the 'clean' wins.
Block C: The Briscos and the Invaders... Like Dochappy, I am really amazed at the Funks complete meltdown in the first stanza. I don't blame the Invaders, though, as they were a great team - it was the Koloffs! Ivan nailing Dory with that Loaded Elbow Pad was a downright disgrace.
Drad-gum Commies!

1st D-*The Road Warriors

1st B-The Midnight Express
vs.
2nd F-*The Dynamic Duo
Talk about a win-win situation... either team deserves to advance.
1st H-*North-South Connection
vs.
2nd D-The Hart Foundation
The best thing about Adonis & Murdoch winning is going to be beating the winner of the Dibiase & Dr. Death v. Hansen & Brody match. ;)
1st F-DiBiase & Williams
vs.
2nd B-*Hansen & Brody
Another one of those 'Doesn't Matters' :)
1st E-The U.S. Express
vs.
2nd A-*Orton & Slater
1st G- *Baba & Jumbo
vs.
2nd C-The Invaders
It's too bad the Heart Punch is illegal, or the Invaders would destroy anyone. In a straight up match with the DQ rule, though, Baba and Tsuruta will manhandle those cheaters! Heh.
Looks to be an excellent round!

Match 1
Brito & Parisi vs. The Bruiser & The Crusher
Though Brito & Parisi were undefeated in the Block matches, their technical prowess and stamina were no match for the roughneck style of The Bruiser & The Crusher.
Winners: The Bruiser & The Crusher
The Crusher ends it with a Bolo Punch on Parisi at 34:00.
Rating: C+
Match 2
The Brisco Brothers vs. The Von Erichs
By all accounts outmatched, Kevin and Kerry pull off one the great upsets of the tournament by defeating Jack and Jerry in a back and forth affair. The last twenty minutes of the match saw at least thirty attempted and slipped finishing holds before Kevin was able to lock on the Iron Claw.
Winners: The Von Erichs
Kevin gets a submission with the Iron Claw on Jack at 54:00.
Rating: C
In the quarterfinals it will be The Bruiser & The Crusher taking on The Von Erichs!

The technical prowess of the Japanese team was no match for the powerful Road Warriors as the Skyhigh Lariat continues to wreak havoc!
Winners: The Road Warriors
Hawk with the pin after a Skyhigh Lariat on Sakaguchi at 31:00.
Rating: C+
Match 4
The Midnight Express vs The Dynamic Duo
A very evenly matched contest with a lot of rulebreaking on both sides. Every man scored at least one finisher but Condrey finally managed to get the pin on Hernandez.
Winners: The Midnight Express

The technique of Bret Hart and the power of Jim Niedhart were simply not enough to counter the experience of Adonis and Murdoch in this one.
Winners: North-South Connection

Rating: C+
Match 6
Dibiase & Williams vs Hansen & Brody
Dibiase and Williams were simply unable to get anything started in this one as the rough and powerful style of Hansen and Brody dominated.
Winners: Hansen & Brody
Hansen with a Brainbuster Suplex on Dibiase at 19:00.

Match 8

Winners: Baba & Jumbo

The 19 minute match surprised me too, D. Boon's! I certainly expected Dibiase and Williams to put up much more of a fight.
For the first round, I was doing a coin toss to determine who I would play as, but for the Best 16 I have been playing both teams myself. That's why the Best 16 has taken longer, cause playing both makes my mouse finger more tired for some reason! ;)
As far as who has been the most fun to play, I've got to go with The Road Warriors! When I was growing up, I didn't have many chances to see them, but when I did, I was a serious Hawk and Animal mark. Though not the most skilled of teams, their presence and look really drew me in. And there is something really satisfying about connecting with that Skyhigh Lariat! :D
Second would probably be The Dynamic Duo. Gino and Chris seem to work really well together when I have played them. I knew absolutely nothing about them until I started playing the 1983 scenarios on TEW and WreSpi, but the way they have been captured here has made me a fan! I only wish I had had a chance to see more WCCW. Due to the isolated place I grew up in, we mostly got WWF and of course Tomko's All-Star and Stampede!
Anyway, thanks one more time for a fantastic scenario and everything it's helping me learn about the kayfabe era!

Match 1
The Bruiser & The Crusher vs. The Von Erichs
That Kevin and Kerry have come this far is a surprise to many, especially having beaten the formidable Brisco Brothers in their last match. The Bruiser and The Crusher certainly have plenty of experience in their favour, but their age may prove to be their undoing. The Von Erichs put on a great display of tag team wrestling, isolating their opponents and wearing them down and their superior conditioning proves to be the difference maker. Fritz has got to be proud of his sons for winning this one!
Winners: The Von Erichs
Kerry with the Iron Claw submission on The Bruiser at 38:00.
Rating: C
Match 2
The Road Warriors vs. The Midnight Express
The powerful team of Hawk and Animal dominate this match from the get go, using their experience as a team to pull off some fine double-team moves. Condrey and Eaton won't go down without a fight as Eaton kicks out of a Skyhigh Lariat late in the match and The Midnight Express rally a strong comeback! But it's simply too late as Eaton once again amazingly kicks out of a Skyhigh Lariat pinning predicament but gets trapped in a punishing Animal bearhug to give The Road Warriors another victory.
Winners: The Road Warriors
Animal with an Atlas Bear Hug submission on Eaton at 32:00.
Rating: C+
Do Fritz Von Erich's boys have it in them to take it all the way to Finals or will the power and the paint be too much for them to handle? The Von Erichs take on The Road Warriors in the semifinals!

Match 3
North-South Connection vs. Hansen & Brody
This match had the makings of a classic and neither team disappointed as the four men took each other to the limit! A wild affair that saw each man hit multiple finishing moves and the referee spend much of his time flat on his back. In the closing seconds, Hansen hit The Lariat on Adonis, but with the ref out of commission, Adrian was able to tag in Murdoch who turned the tables on Hansen, hitting the Corner Running Bulldog on him. The ref is still down however and is only able to make the count after Brody comes in and nails Captain Redneck with a choke throw and his trademark Running Knee Drop.
Winners: Hansen & Brody
Brody with a Running Knee Drop on Murdoch at 51:00.
Rating: B-
Match 4
The U.S. Express vs. Baba & Jumbo
The hot young team of Windham and Rotundo were ready for the dominating Japanese tag champs in this one and it turned out to be a fantastic match! Boths teams gave it their all, with Windham and Rotundo both kicking out of Jumbo's Backdrop Driver and Barry even managing to get the shoulder up after a devastating Running Butt Drop from the Giant! Baba and Jumbo had their share of narrow escapes and the end finally came when Windham attempted a Thesz Press on Tsuruta, only to have the Japanese star fall on top of him for the pinfall.
Winners: Baba & Jumbo
Tsuruta falls on top of a Thesz Press from Windham at 43:00.
Rating: B-
Two great matches that could have gone either way, but it'll be Hansen & Brody facing off against Baba & Jumbo (the only team to have won all their matches so far!) in what should prove to be a memorable semi-final match!

Oh wow, XoX... this is such a fabulous tournament.
I'd like to first comment on your playing both teams w/ Human v. Human in Exhibition: You rule! :) The only way to ensure that the 'opponent' is at full mast is to take control of them. As you mentioned, it does make the matches last quite awhile and it does require a great deal of Imagination - but when controlling both sides, the game almost becomes a full-blown role-playing game.
I've been doing the same thing for awhile, and thought I was a nut for doing so. Glad to see I've got company! :)
Now... those Von Erichs.
I have to admit to gaining a huge amount of respect for these guys by following your tournaments. It's gotten to the point where I am really starting to cheer them on. The next step will be a big one; getting past the Road Warriors will be a major challenge - especially the way you have been brilliantly been playing Hawk & Animal.
And the Roadies not winning on the Skyhigh Lariat? What's this world coming to?!?
Heh.
As always,
A fan.

Match 1
The Road Warriors vs. The Von Erichs
The Road Warriors use their power advantage to dominate the early going of the match but the Von Erich brothers manage to battle back by keeping the big men grounded and trying to wear them down. By the 23 minute mark, Kerry is in serious trouble at the hands of Hawk but he manages to tag in Kevin who soon has Hawk in trouble. A well rested Animal gets the tag and pounds Kevin down into the canvas until he's forced to tag out. Animal continues his destruction on Kerry with a spear but Kerry manages to fall on top of a Press Slam Backbreaker attempt for a near fall. Animal is able to avoid a bionic elbow and Kerry doesn't see the tag as Hawk climbs up to the top. Animal hoists him over his head as Hawk nails the Doomsday Device to finish the match at 35:00.
Winners: The Road Warriors
Hawk with the Doomsday Device on Kerry at 35:00.
Rating: C+
Match 2
Hansen & Brody vs. Baba & Jumbo
This match is a very back and forth affair, but Baba and Jumbo seem to have an advantage based on their technical skills. The referee is knocked down several times, allowing Hansen and Brody to take the match outside, where their roughhouse style can gain the upper hand. On one of these occassions, Brody even splinters a ringside chair and jabs the broken leg into Tsuruta's throat! Jumbo is able to recover long enough to tag in Baba, who hits a Running Butt Drop on Brody for a near fall. Hansen is tagged in and takes Baba to the limit finally nailing him with The Lariat! The big man won't stay down though and counters a second Lariat attempt, hitting a Giant Chokeslam on an exhausted Hansen for the three count at 49:00.
Winners: Baba & Jumbo
Baba with a Giant Chokeslam on Hansen at 49:00.
Rating: C+
And so the final match has been determined. The powerful doubleteam attacks of The Road Warriors against the strong style technique of the dominating Baba & Jumbo!
A third place contest between The Von Erichs and Hansen & Brody will also take place.
Keep watching! :D

LOL! Fantastic!
Glad to see the v3.0 update treating you kindly, XoX. It didnt take long for the Roadies to bust out that Doomsday Device! :)
Bah - Brody & Hansen... the Dynamic Duo would have made short work of those Japanese freaks. ;)

Sorry about the delay for anyone who's been following this tournament (I've been distracted by another game and my real life, as well as a little lazy ;) !). But without further ado, here is the conclusion of the DOTT Tag Team World Cup!
Third Place Match
The Von Erichs vs. Hansen & Brody
Kevin and Kerry have been a surprise in the tournament, making it this far, but they have their hands full with the bruising, brawling Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. The Von Erichs do their best in this fast-paced match to combat their powerful opponents with technical skills, but they are simply overwhelmed. In the finish, Kerry valiantly fights with Hansen, but Hansen avoids a bionic elbow and hits a Brainbuster Suplex for a near fall. Frustrated, the big Texan whips Kerry into the corner and proceeds to stomp him into the ground, tagging in Brody. Kerry struggles to his feet but gets nailed with a Brody Big Boot leaving him flat on his back in the center of the ring. With a roar to the crowd, Brody sails through the air and lands a Running Knee Drop for the pin at 30:00.
Winners: Hansen & Brody (Third Place)
Bruiser Brody with a Running Knee Drop on Kerry Von Erich at 30:00.
Rating: B-
Championship Match
The Road Warriors vs. Baba & Jumbo
Both teams have been impressive in making it to the final match, but The Road Warriors reliance on power and big impact double-team moves may not be enough to counter the winning streak of the well-rounded team from the East. Hawk and Animal get in plenty of licks in the early going, quick tagging and hitting power move after power move. Their limited arsenal soon becomes apparent though, as Giant Baba and Tsuruta storm back with a fine mixture of power and technique. Mid-match, it's back and forth, back and forth, with Animal even busting open the huge Baba. Both teams inflict heavy damage throughout the match, but The Road Warriors seem to be getting the worst of it and both men are on their heels and bleeding as the match nears the finish. Animal attempts to drop Jumbo on the top rope but Jumbo slips out and puts him down with a Thesz Press. Kick out! Jumbo makes the tag and he and Baba toss Animal into the corner. Baba's attempt at a Corner Sit Down Splash is avoided and Animal jumps on top of him, hammering him down into the mat. Baba manages to slip out of the flurry of punches from Animal, but again misses, this time with a Running Butt Drop. Animal tries to capitalize with a flurry of bionic elbows, but again the Giant manages to get away, locking on a Big Bear Hug. Animal refuses to give up however and after slipping a Giant Chokeslam attempt, whips Baba into the corner allowing him enough time to tag in an already exhausted Hawk. Hawk keeps Baba in the corner, stomping again and again on the giant's chest. He picks Baba up, trying for a body slam, but Baba breaks it and hits the stunned Hawk with a Butt Smash, followed by another Big Bear Hug. Hawk won't quit either, but this time Baba is able to lift Hawk by the throat for a Giant Chokeslam! Giant Baba lays his huge form over top of the winded Hawk for the three count at 44:00.
Winners: Baba & Jumbo (First Place)
Giant Baba with a Giant Chokeslam on Hawk at 44:00.
Rating: B-
Final Four
Champions - Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta (7 Wins, 0 Draws, O Losses)
2nd Place - The Road Warriors (5 Wins, 1 Draw, 1 Loss)
3rd Place - Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody (4 Wins, 2 Draws, 1 Loss)
So there it is! Hope you enjoyed it and look out for my next tournament. I'm thinking about doing an Under 20 Tournament with a bunch of the rookies to see how that goes. Any comments or suggestions? :D

I'd just like to thank you, XoX. This tournament proved to be very entertaining and had me hooked throughout its run.
Well done!
And congrats go out to Baba & Jumbo! :)
