View Full Version : Is there going to be some sort of looks stats in the game?

Something that differentiates between hulking fighters and smaller ones. I imagine that would affect the way a fighter was marketed, so I was wondering if there is going to be a looks stat that measures physique style and/or attractiveness or whatever.

2nd post lists all the stat categories. So it doesn't appear so, since I'm guessing that wouldn't fall under personality.

I don't think physical appearance means a lot to MMA fans. I think they'd be less receptive to a babyfaced fighter than to a rugged looking fighter.

I beg to differ, I know a lot of people who are drawn to babyfaced fighters, a la Joe Stevenson or Mike Swick. I don't think an appearance stat is a necesity, but if it's an easy addition, why not. It could also be interpreted as a physical draw to the fighter. For example, Chuck Liddell's white trailer trash look is definately a drawing point for his fans. Sure he's a devistating striker and all around bad ass, but his look has drawn a lot of fans. My wife loves Tito Ortiz and that is a main reason she's a fan. It's a sad reality, but many female fans watch MMA for the way the guys look.

And guys like Tim Sylvia who pretty much looks like an ogre don't really get the fans behind them just because of their looks.

And no disrespect to Tim, he is a great fighter (though he did fight a bit defensively when he had the title), but he isn't the prettiest boy on the block. ;)

The charisma stat should probably have this covered, unless you want to assign fighters gimmicks and market them a certain way.

I don't think Sylvia's looks are determining the size of his fanbase (though in all honesty, they probably don't help). It's way more of an issue of how Tim carries himself and how he tends ot have atrociously boring fights.Other fighters are fan favourites despite not looking the part, for example Wanderlei looks like the missing link and Fedor resembles my mailman and would you think any less of Roger Huerta if he looked like Steely McBeam? Bottom line is the majority of fans don't care if you aren't exaclty a pretty boy so the broad charisma stat is all that's needed.
