I'm loving the game, but I have noticed one odd thing. I think someone may have mentioned this already, but I'm noticing that often when BJJ fighters take their opponent's back, they end up doing ineffectual ground and pound until they're stood up by the referee. It seems unlikely that fighters whose submission rating is much higher than their ground striking rating would not even attempt to work for a rear naked choke in that situation. Is that happening to others more than you'd expect, or is it just a fluke in my game?

I've no problem with it, personally. When people get backmounted, they tend to really, really close up and protect their neck, which is why even extremely good submission grapplers often slap them around a bit while watching for an opening.

Fighters generally won't go for a submission that they know they can't get, because a failed attempt will leave them open for a sweep or reversal. Striking, even if they know they won't actually finish with it, is a much safer option, especially as it can wear down an opponent to the point where he is ripe for a tap out attempt.
