Are these in the games? I remember watching UFC when Royce Gracie used to dominate all the time and it was always one night tournaments. I was wondering since this is set in the past if the commisions will allow this to take place? Also if someone gets injured in a tournament does the person he beat make it to the next round or do we get to call extra guys to be in the locker room before every show? If so how much does it cost if that guys doesn't fight?
Thanks.

The addition would be pretty cool, for one guy to be able to fight at least twice in one night like the old Pride GP's.
I'd definately be interested in running one of them, one first round fight at one show second round at another and then have the semi's and finals in one show. Even better if you could invite a fighter from a rival organization ala Chuck Liddell at the 03 GP.

This would be awesome...but I don't expect it to be in the game

I don't see why it wouldn't be included in the game. Conceptually it doesn't seem like much work to link the matches and have fallbacks in case of injuries. Tournaments over several nights might be a little more work, but even then I don't think it's out of the question.
Personally I'm a fan of tournaments and wish it was more practical to run them IRL.

I'm pretty confident One-Night Tournaments will be in the game. They were and still are vital to Mixed Martial Arts. I can't imagine Adam just ignoring them, especially since the Game is set in the past when Tourneys were even more common than they are now...

No, tournaments are not supported. The booking system revolves around the modern concept of a fighter being given plenty of advance warning of his opponent so that he can train and strategize for that person in particular, tournaments did not fit that model.

What about a Grand Prix format like PRIDE used? (even if we can't have the semis and finals on the same night.) Will they be supported and recognized in the game?

That's dissappointing to me. I actually think that the tournament format is enjoying a sort-of renaissance with them being ok'd by NSAC recently, IFL doing that for their end of the season GP and the dozen of tourneys in Japan of course.
And ????? the game doesn't actually have to specifically support a grand prix format for you to stage it. For me drawing up a bracket in notepad will work just as well even if I miss out on some extra "fight anticipation" bonus for the finals.

Tourneys would have been the most interesting thing to see- you set 4 fights in bracket form and let it play out from there.
Especially considering that the data is set in 1996 (CornellVerse to real world comparisons notwithstanding), tournaments would be appealing.

Couple of follow up questions if you don't mind:
How much advance warning do fighters require? Does this make alternates in case a fighter is injured impossible?
Is it still possible to have a fighter fight more than once in a night (or in a close amount of time)? Like Fighter A knows three months in advance he will be fighting Fighter's B and C on the same night. Or A fights B in three months and a week later fights C, as long as both fights were signed at the same time.
Oh, and if you give a fighter more advanced warning before a fight, will he be better prepared for that fighter or is the amount of preparation the same regardless.

Yeah I know, it'd be nice if the fans knew it was an actual GP, though, with a title that could be competed for on a yearly basis.

Honestly you couldn't expect that to be in the game considering he said he is going for real life. Athletic commissions would never allow it to happen in the first place. In places outside of the USA you may get the 4 man tourny or semi/finals in one night, but for the context of the game and going for realism he can't put it in.

It isn't in due to the way the game's concept works, which will be clear when the game is released. Whether it is realistic or not is irrelevant, so there really doesn't need to be a debate about it.

By no means am I trying to call anyone's baby ugly. In fact Adam's games have been the wrestling industries best sims, but the lack of a tournament option is clearly deviates from the true format most MMA competitions run.
Outside of UFC and other American MMA leagues, tournament formats are the most widely use. Just take PRIDE, K-1, and Pancrase for example. Their major events were normally tournament based. The majority of all MMA competitions including sambo and BJJ events are normally tournament based.
I realize that it is most likely too far into the production process to include tournaments, but it is something to think about for later versions or updates. Not having tournaments in an MMA game is like not having storylines and angles in a wrestling game.

He said there would be no one night tournaments, which is disappointing, he hasn't said anything about Grand Prix formats like PRIDE or HERO*S. Though they both have two fights on the same night, which we unfornately won't be able to do in the game, I'm still hopeful that we can still run otherwise proper GPs.
