Science Fiction Chaos 2 WIP

After all of about 10 minutes discussion with 'taker the TEW mod will also be bought to life in this game too. The way i see it this mod will take really well on the new platform.

The following TV shows/films will be added:

Buffy and Angel
Heroes
Star Wars
Star Trek
Charmed
X - files
Comic book characters
A promotion based around the GDS babe league
A promotion based around the GDS forum users

I'm really excited to be back modding again and i apreciate any help/feedback you can give me. 'taker has kindly offered to find me some pictures for buffy/angel/x-files. Anyone who wants to chip in just let me know!

Once the editor is released i will make a thread so people can enter themselves into the fed based around the GDS community, but for now if you have any pictures in preparation feel free to post them here, I will edit them into the correct format for you, if you could make sure they are an adequate size though it would be handy! The dimensions are as follows:

head shot = 300 x 300 pixels
body (from waist up) = 440 x 610 pixels

It doesn't have to be a picture of yourself topless looking muscly! I would encourage you to use pictures of yourself in a nerdy costume to go with the sci-fi theme! If you want to be in, but are camera shy i will accept renders as long as they are of a good standard!

OH! I wish he was here instead of in school, so I could get the input from him... Something about using some wimpy weapon or something (the one people use if they don't know how to play the game right?). Anyways, NO, He's a great sport, and loves a challenge. I don't know how bad you beat him, he didn't tell me, lol.

The pics need to be .GIF files with no background (they appear on the game background i believe) Be aware as if you export .Gif files incorrectly you can end up with really poor quality! The correct dimensions to use are listed in the first post if you need them.

Panix is correct, the game's designed to use transparent backgrounds around the fighters, as shown here (http://www.greydogsoftware.com/images/wmma/screens/wmma2.jpg).

The cage backgrounds you see in the released screenshots are just one background file so it'd just be a case of switching the image.

I think the body shot will be OK, but i think the head shot needs to be from further away to fit in the hole of the head and possibly the top of the shoulders as well.

Made a bit of a start tonight by entering my first promotion and couple of fighters, i can see pictures being the hardest part to deal with, but i envision it being a lot of fun!

Looking at the editor, I'm still going over the character stats. It cover's quite a bit of ground (and pound, lol). I'm almost scared to see what is available at the promotional levels and such, of which I haven't really looked at yet.

This looks a bit more intense then the TEW editor did. I can see quite a bit of flexibility in just the things I was looking at so far! It's pretty incredible.

I wouldn't use that, awful quality picture. Here's the one I'll be using for my mod, obviously, feel free to use it for yours.

I'll take X-Files, Heroes, then if I have time, and things are coming out well, I'll do the usual free agents, and maybe even tackle Sin City/Twin Peaks again.

EDIT: Also, it's looking like it's going to be a lot harder to get quality pics going with the guidelines, but I'll see what I can do.

yeah the pics are tough! But its a fun challenge to find them. So if anybody finds appropriate picks dont shy away from posting them! We need all the help we can get!

I think I am going to put a different spin on this mod, to make things a little easier. The different promotions will not be TV shows, becasue as pointed out to me by 'taker the would all need pretty big rosters, plus pictures for obscure characters are impossible to come by! so I am just going to take the characters I like and include them and then either randomly divvy them up between promo's, let them all start un-employed and watch the scramble for talent commence or assign them all to promotions based on a certain criteria. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'd randomise them between different promotions. Otherwise you could have all the promotions trying to get deals with the best peeps only for them to be signed by the biggest company, that in turn could slow the pace down for the other promotions getting enough people they need.

For PICTURES.....

I have been doing a bit of "Curiosity" type things, and found that ANY size will work, that the guidelines are bassically the "BIGGEST" that will work.

Meaning, that if you have a full size picture of someone, that is smaller... IT doesn't grow it up to that size (doesn't seem to) where the pixels all start looking obvious. It just use's that size picture.

So you can use whatever pictures you want. I don't know what it will do for larger images though, but I'm thinking it will "Shrink" them to fit, giving you a non proportioned figure if it's too wide or too tall. Smaller one's seem to keep their shape..

I'm bassically only talking about the "Body" pics, as I haven't figured out a way to show the face pictures in the editor, outside of just assigning them.

Bassically, I'm just saying you can start with all the same pictures you already had, and then work them in updates later, as time goes by. This way you can concentrate on the "MEAT" of the mod.. >Which is character input and world completion.

That was the case, but I have been moved for some while now! I have started work on this again and currently have a fighter list of about 350. Which will probably decrease if I have picture issues. Although I have shyed away from ancilliray characters so hopefully that won't be an issue.

So far I have the charmed fighters completed. And 'taker is working on Buffy/Angel. I have collected the pictures for Roswell (any excuse to look at Catherine Heigl!) So thats what i'm doing next.
