We are trying to make a real world mod, and have stumbled across an issue with making the editor do what we want.

We are trying to make companies start when they started in real life, and have their staff already assigned to them, so for example, Nobuhiko Sakakibara can be assigned to Pride FC.

I have inputted Pride's information and set their start date to october 1997. The game will start in November 1993 with the UFC. I then made Sakakibara and Ed Fishman to work for and own the company, and it came up with errors in the data check, saying that Pride has owners and a president but has not yet entered the game world.
Do I take this to mean that Pride cant come in then with pre set owners?How can I make it work with the pre set paramiters? Will Pride have to come in in 1997 with no owners at all? What exactly would happen in game terms?

You can't have anyone assigned to a promotion that hasn't actually opened yet. The obvious logical reason is because history will have changed by that point, as you'll have had four years worth of game played. Ed Fishman might be dead by October 1997. He might be under an exclusive deal with UFC. He might be in jail. The point is, you can't just have him appear out of nowhere as Pride's owner and completely ignore what has gone on in the past.
