View Full Version : So you're a great heel but you suck as a face?

I know you have all probably noticed this as well, but I think it kind of sucks that the majority of the people in the database for Cornellverse are either really good at being a face or a heel. There really isn't many people who can successfully play both. I guess that's a look at reality since not everyone is going to be great at both, however, when you get someone like a Christian Faith... I would LOVE to turn him heel and do a whole "Hulk Hogan" thing where he turns on everything he's ever been...

However, I do believe he sucks at being a heel. So does that mean that if I turn him he will fall apart?! hah

not necessarily, I always thought it was more like, a worker with poor heel or face skills could work in that role for much shorter amount of time without the act getting stale. Otherwise how would it work with people who had poor skills in both. Would they have no chance of succeeding regardless of what role you put them in?

Well, in real life, some guys just never get over despite several turns and gimmick changes. Matt Bloom never really got over as a heel or a face and it's not like they didn't try to push him. He got several decent pushes and was given several different gimmicks, worked as both face and heel, he just never really connected with the fans.

That's the thing. So does that mean that someone who has an A for babyface but a E for Heel's won't be able to succeed as a heel what so ever?! Maybe hurt ratings/connection with the fans?! Because I totally understand how certain people just never cut it as a face or a heel, or all together... However, there seems to be a lot of people who can only cut it as a face or a heel and there is no room for you to really turn them if they won't be successful as the other.

I don't think it's just Cornellverse as I play the T-zone mod and I'm stuck with the same problem. I have a ton of guys who are great heels and crappy faces and vice versa.

Right, but wouldn't you say that was more because he could never really get traction in a gimmick? He didn't have any phenomenal performing skills and didn't really excel as a heel or a face. He would get pushed for a time, but quickly become stale. It's not to say that it would never be possible for him to break out as a face or a heel, it is just unlikely because people will get bored of him before he really developed into anything special. So, to answer the original question, I always interpreted it as low skills don't necessarily mean that a worker can't succeed in that role, it will just be harder and less likely that they will click and break out.

Also, somewhat related, when I get messages during angles saying someone improved in performance skills, does this mean the skills like "cool", "****y", etc., because I always thought it was weird that my workers were improving in say "psychology" and not their entertainment skills, but that would make a lot more sense.

I had Steve Flash in a long term 4C game he's a great face but a horrible heel but he was getting really stale and as far as I could tell the game was asking for a disposition change. I made him a heel and he served as one for about 8 months before I turned him back without having any real negative effect.

It was a gret story he turned after one too many beat downs from Sayeed Ali and went on a rampage. Joey Poison, who started as a heel but was quickly turned face by the efforts of Flash to show him the path of righteousness, spent the 8 months trying to show Flash the error of his ways. When it was all said and done Poison managed to convince Flash to turn back to the light and the two teamed together to crush Sayeed Ali and his crew.

Actually, if "performance" is improved, that's your mic skills. I know, I don't get it either, but that's what it is. Gimmick skills never change, and the Performance skills are "Performance". The other "performance" is mic skills. Don't ask me why.

Basically, here is a list, as I've seen things go up.

Rumble = Brawling, Puroresu, Hardcore
Aerial = High Flying, Flashiness
Technical = Mat Wrestling, Chain Wrestling, Submissions
charisma = Charisma
acting = Acting
performance = Mic Skills
Physical = Stamina, Power, Athleticism
Performance = Basics, Psychology, Consistency, Safety, Selling
