View Full Version : Is my computer too slow to run this game?

I bought WMMA3 after seeing my friend play it, and I thought it looked awesome and wanted to buy it myself. So I did, and I got the mod my friend was using - I started playing and my game is really, really loading slow after I click advance - So slow that it sometimes just says "Not Responding". My friend could advance a week faster than I could advance a day or two. And my laptop should be better than his on paper.

Anyone know if there's a way to speed my computer/game up a little?

This is my computer: Toshiba Satellite L505

Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz (T6600 800MHz FSB 2MB L2 Cache)
Memory: 4GB DDR3 (max 8GB)
Hard Disk: 320GB SATA (5400rpm)
Display: 15.6" TruBrite HD 1366 x 768 px (16:9 ratio)
Video Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4570 512 MB (up to 3,323 MB)
Operating System: Windows® 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That should be more than enough to run the game at a good pace. I suggest you firstly try it with the default data to make sure that runs fine, then try closing as many other programs as you can - the "Not Responding" gives the indication that you have something big running somewhere, such as an Internet browser, iTunes, or the like.

I'm sorry for the double post.

I tried to run the default data, and it was advancing days really, really fast.
Then I tried to load the mod database, and it takes literally forever to advance just a day. I was only running the game, and my firewall.

EDIT: I tried to turn off my firewall (Kaspersky) and update BIOS, none of it seemed to work. Still just stops and goes on to say not responding and then takes forever to advance.

Then obviously the mod database is the problem.

I'd suggest checking the database itself; perhaps you are using one that has a huge number of superfluous records for things like relationships, which would slow down the loading considerably. The fact that you can get the default data to run fine indicates that your issue is nothing to do with the game or the way you have it set up.
