Buying The Game: Help Needed

After reading up on WMMA last night, I was hooked without even buying the game. However, I am holding off on my purchase until I can figure out a few things.

The game looks great, but I am not a big fan of the true "fantasy" world. I would like to use real promotions and real fighters. It appears to me (I could be wrong) that the game only comes with fake fighters and you would have to download a program to get the "real" thing.

How can one find one? I am looking for the most updated set that I can plug in and use. And yes, I am a computer dummy, so if someone could walk me down the path of what is needed I would really appreciate it.

Looking foward to playing this over the holiday, just waiting to get some info before buying the game.

Fan-made real world databases can be found further down the board in the WMMA3 Mods forum. You simply pick the ones you want and download the files which are linked to (usually in the first post in the thread). Installation is simple, there is an in-game tutorial that guides you through it step-by-step.

However, all I noticed was the Modern Warriors (which looks awesome) but will not be released until the new year.

Do we have any current (link please?) rosters already out that I can use to get the hang of the game until this is out?

No; Dawn Of MMA is the only other one that is out as far as I know, and that's a historical real-world database. Modern Warriors is likely to be the first real-world database set in 2010\11. You can of course use the default data if you are just looking to check out the features and get up to speed with how everything works.

Download the demo and give the default data a try. I think you'll find that it won't take you long to get used to it. And if you don't like it, as Adam said, it'll give you time to get used to the game until a real world mod comes out!

I would say try out the default game world, it grows on you. But I wouldnt blame you if you didnt, I resisted the default game worlds for a long time.

MW does look like it will be the first to be released, there was one up but it had to be taken down atleast for now. I would advise you to purchase the game now, try the default world and see if you like it, if not just wait until Modern Warriors is released.

Play dawn of mma or the Default, I love the default data, and I am playing it now.

If you want a real-world mod, then you can always download MW or Tap Or Snap for WMMA2 and use the convertor.
