One thing I should probably explain is how you know when somebody is destined for the Hall Of Fame - because there is a handy hint to watch out for ;)

Some of you have already seen it; there's a story on Blurcat where a fighter will get featured in a top magazine, and the text will include a variation on the phrase "a future Hall Of Famer". This means that the fighter has achieved enough to be added as a future inductee to the HOF, and will be added once he retires.

It's probably too early for anybody to have gotten far enough in the game to have developed a good HOF, but please do post when you have - it'll be interesting to see who (outside of the pre-programmed HOFers like Fezzik, Foster and co) makes it.

Hester MacLean received that message. She is 18-1-1, but she doesn't work for me anymore :(

Now I remember who it was, Roberto Aldez right after he won the title from Yamada!

Anyway, Shane Gilchrist was "nominated" recently too.

I've had it for Tim Boyer and Rick Stanly so far.

I haven't had it yet, but I've got a question; Can fighters that have already retired be inducted into the HOF? For example, if somebody was just a win or two away from getting that report and he was forced to retire through injury, would all of his hopes of being in the HOF be gone, or could he still be inducted after his retirement?

I've played it a little more and now I have Tony McCall and Harry Milne for the hall of fame

What's even stranger is that Jamie Hewitt verus Datuk En Ook whatever is the mainevent for the lightweight title and Sean Morrison is on the undercard.

No, he wouldn't. The bottom line is that you get into the HOF on your achievements; if you retire before you've achieved enough - even if you're very close - the fact is that you still didn't make it.

I've had Jeff Carlton, and oddly enough. Steve Mason.

Steve Mason for the fact of being a total superman in my GAMMA Game. He beat Oktay, Stanley, Foster, Boyer AND Hughes in 5 months consecutively. He skyrocketed in namevalue.

For me, Steve Mason lost all his matches I gave him and then was suspended for a year for drugs.

Right now... John Rivero, Patrick Thomas, Tim Boyer, and Mike Watson I believe all received the honor within a year of playing.

Hmm, is the article titled 'SportsFan on (fighter's name)' one that tells you they're nominated for the HOF? If so I just had it for the first time in January '98 for my Light Heavyweight Champ, Mike Watson (7-0).

Carlos da Guia just got nominated!
He's 14-1 with the one loss to Paulo Roberto Bezerra for the title, which he got back (on my latest show) a year after. He has KO'd everyone he has met, whether it be a regular KO or a TKO.

Looks like I got one not mentioned yet... Julio Reguerio. Blurcat gave me the "he's a lock for the MMA HOF" line on their latest interview with him. He's currently 17-0-1 with my Welterweight title, and currently sitting on a six-month ankle injury. I'm running a tournament for a #1 contender once Reguerio gets back.

The one match I really want to see is Reguerio vs. Luis Barosa, who is 16-0. However, they refuse to fight each other because of friendships. Jerks. Maybe the question of who's really better will never be settled.

Frankly, I'm REALLY anticipating Julio's comeback. Will the ankle injury make him lose his momentum and skill? Can he be upset and lose his belt that he's defended 5 times?

Smell the drama!

EDIT: Changed my mind about the tournament, as half my guys in the top ten literally are injured. Guess I'll just have 'em fight as they will, and we'll pair up Julio with someone who has won rather well, unless he wants a tune-up fight. At this point, I'm giving Julio the JJ Reid Treatment, especially since he's demanding a half-million for base pay and another half-million for wins. Good thing I'm making a good 4 million profit per month.

Hassan Fezzik inducted July 1996 29-7 record.

I started in 1990 so by 1996 he was a wreck!:p

Aleksander Ivanov, John Rivero and Umeki Fujiwara, for me. All three have won fighter of the year, so far, too. Fujiwara is a 16-1, my former GAMMA Women's champ, and Ivanov and Rivero are my undefeated heavyweight and light heavyweight champs, respectively.

And for the guy with Reguiero problem; I would suggest looking for Carsley vs. Reguiero. They have fought twice for me, splitting at 1-1 and giving 5 star matches.

Just got my second one... Leon Banks. He's 16-4 currently in early 1998. Even though his fights have been rather dominating, I didn't think he was that good... No complaints though.

Leon Banks (15-3) got the 'SportsFan on...' treatment after winning the biggest match in my companies history at 'AFC 17: The Showdown - Watson vs. Banks'

he won on points by 48-47, 48-47 and 48-47 after 5 rounds to dethrown Watson from the Cruiserweight crown (Watson still holds the Middleweight title)..

2 inductions for me so far.

October 1999: Sean Morrison, retired due to an injury while training with a record of 19-9.
December 1999: Dan Halvorsen, retired at age 39 with a record of 26-17-2.

Which factors are most dominant in deciding wheter a guy gets inducted or not? Is it just the overall record or do they need to win a title at some point? I'm not far into my game so only Halvorsen got inducted and I can't even see why. His stats didn't blow me out of the water but then I thought well he's a legend so it's probably right. I'd hate to see every 25-12 guy get inducted though. They should have some solid title reigns or fighters of the year to go along with it.

I can't figure out why Dan Halverson/Henderson/whatever got inducted in either. He does lead a camp that has a fantastic reputation. Maybe that's a part of it. Once you get in the Hall of Fame, you don't go out. I've had Datuk Ong Ka Ting, Tony McCall, and Zvonamir Asanovic go on tears and then go on fifty fight losing streaks but are still heading to the hall of fame.

And you have to make your accomplishments in a row. Martin DeVries won a title belt in MiddleWeight, Welterweight, and Lightweight but didn't get the hall of fame message until he managed some successful title defenses at Lightweight. But I have had guys make the hall of fame after one big win. Rick Stanly after beating James Foster in the first round by K.O. right in the beginning of the game and Ischimawhatever Miyagi beating Datuk after he went on a twelve fight win streak at Lightweight.

The fact that he's pre-set in the editor would probably have a large impact...

I don't have a slightest problem with Halvorsen going into the HoF with his record. It's all down to who he fought during his career and sooner or later the fight histories will be filled up so we can see that (i.e Carlos da Guia already has one).

To draw a real world comparison, if there was a hypothethic global MMA hall of fame Randy Couture would be a lock to go in with a very underwhelming 16-8 (maybe plus one more fight) record.

I hope you can boot someone out of the HoF in the editor because I don't want anybody that hasn't had a good title run or a Randy Coutoure type of career.

It might be too late, but one solution is to clear the Hall of Fame list before starting a new game. Some of the guys would probably get in anyway like Foster or Hassan, but at least no one that point is predestined for it.

Of course, that assume the game calculates a fighter's HOF induction based on his entire career, and not just what happened from the start of your savegame.

coutures record is the way it is due to the level of comp he faces. he doesnt beat down cans, he faces the best in th world and has a winning record.....to think he isnt a HOFer is moronic.
