View Full Version : How do I book an intergender match?

Hi! I was thinking about starting a intergender division/company so I tried to book a man and a woman in a match to try it out. Sadly, the states regulation board wouldn't allow it (sexist bastards!) so I took my show down to sweet unregulated Mexico, but that didn't work either. Now they are saying that neither participant is willing to participate in an intergender match. How do I make a man and woman want to fight each other?
Thanks in advance!

I don't think its possible in this game.

You can't, intergender matches aren't allowed.

Too bad, now I won't buy the game...
Kudos on a very nice menu interface and presentation though, mr Ryland!

You won't buy the game because it doesn't do something which doesn't actually happen in real life anyway? Nevermind that the default scenario is set in a time when MMA is trying to get AWAY from being a freak show.
Come on mate. The game's too good not to buy it for that reason.

Kinda OT but how do you feel about the idea of intergender fighting in real life (boxing or mma)? I think with some precautions it could be made fair, and don't see a big ethical problem as arranged, consensual fights don't really count as "violence" in my book. I'd really like to hear you guys opinions on this, but please don't flame me, I'm rooting for the ladies!

I request... NO! I demand that the next patch has a flaming barbed wire death match in which fighters can wield their special weapons ala Mortal Kombat! Make this happen or I will never buy another GDS item again!
...
Seriously folks.. It's a fecking Mixed Martial Arts game that's extremely realistic. You don't see Wanderlei Silva clinching Gina Carano and kneeing her face off in real life... why would you want to see that in a game... I'm thinking you had an oppressed childhood and your mother is the "root of all evil"... and you want to create a scene of empowerment inside a game. That's the makings of a serial killer, dude. Seek help.

These latest messages have really taken my faith in humanity even lower than it was before.
I'm going to try to explain this to all of you using as simple words as possible, so maybe, just maybe, even RingOfHonorGuard in his extreme stupidity might understand:
Women are people too.
I find it very unsettling that several of you find kangaroo fighting, serial killer-tendencies and freak shows equivalent to equality.
I have only a fleeting interest in both MMA and manager games but I found the previous GDS games entertaining so I tried the trial version of World of MMA and was pleasantly surprised. As I am an avid supporter of women's rights and wanted to at least play a game in a world where women are treated as human beings, I tried to start an intergender match. But since I now apparentely can't do that, no, I will not buy the game even though it seems to be a good game. It's called principles, look it up people.
Finally I'd like to apologise to Dartell, Adam Ryland and Slick Mick for seemingly bracketing you alongside these sad, sad people.

Wow womens rights? You have to understand that men and women each have strengths and weaknesses. Have you seen the majority of female fighters in real life? I dont really like seeing women beating each other up, let alone men beating women up which would happen if their were inter gender fights in real life.

You know, I don't necessarily agree with Nightcrawler's opinion, but I think that the way it's being disrespected is uncool. Dismissing people offhand as idiots is easy; actually trying to see where they're coming from requires depth of character.
The "men can beat up women" argument is old and tired, by the way. It's exactly the kind of attitude Nightcrawler was talking about, and blanket statements of its kind always lead to arguments. Let's be a bit more accurate: generally speaking, men have a physical advantage over women, and thus in our society violence between the sexes is frowned upon (with damn good reason!).
While there are undoubtedly women out there capable of crippling most men, the fact of the matter is that between athletic commission regulations and the stigma attached to such an act due to years of ingrained belief structures, booking a legal intergender fight that could be commercially viable isn't possible right now in our world, and probably won't be for quite a long while.
So the way I see it, Nightcrawler, your problem isn't with WMMA specifically. You seem to have a problem with all of society in regards to women's rights - and that's your prerogative if you so choose. WMMA, however, was supposed to be an approximation of reality; and in reality, at the moment, professional intergender fighting is very rare. Thus, while I agree that some of the attitudes towards women in our time could be improved, I don't think this is necessarily the right place to get on a soapbox and start lecturing about social inequality. The issue here isn't with WMMA - as a simulator, it's highly realistic, and was never meant to be anything else.
Men fighting women just isn't something you see happening in legitimate fighting companies - not because women can't fight men, but simply because it's unheard of to most people. I don't recall ever seeing a request for this feature until now, and it's not because everyone on this forum is sexist - it's because it's such a foreign concept that nobody even thought about it in the first place.

Thank you SadisticBlessings! You're a breath of very fresh air and definitely right that my problem isn't with WMMA alone. Quite contrary, I seems to be an awesome game but $34,95 is alot of money for me, and the intergender thing was "the straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak.
I hope the rest of you can leave this issue with SadisticBlessings's message, and stop insulting me.

It would be nice to be able to book the Wanda Fish's, Catherine Quine's, and Joanne Rodriguez's without having to go through the work of a woman's division.
But alas, it's incredibly beneficial to have a women's division as you get better competitors and more potential main eventers. Not as good of course as just chucking them in with the men.

Ahh, don't leap to such a conclusion. They were mearly mentioning how you were asking for a pretty tall order in the MMA world with intergender fights, and that you dismissing the game because of it was something to be mocked. I do not believe that they were insulting women, but more of poking fun at your reaction and they were exaggerating your requests for comedic and satirical purposes.
Apparently your request would be akin to playing Bowl-bound and asking why you can't have women football teams. It just isn't realistic to the sport in it's current incarnation. Maybe in the future mankind will evolve to a point where gender's are seen purely as a reproductive standpoint and not be restricted as to who can compete against whom, but society is not at that level yet.
Try not to take the pokes and jabs personally, it is just the internet. And be prepared to get made fun of when you say a statement like "not being able to have intergender fights is THE reason I won't buy WMMA" (paraphrased, but that's what you sounded like)
