i'd like to see better match ratings for anything besides 1v1 i have a really hard time getting a B rating for anything besides a 1v1 match especially the battle royals no matter who's in it its usually around a C.

Think about it though... When's the last time you have seen a really good Battle Royal? I mean, really, even if it has the best wrestlers, the match itself leaves little room (literally and figuratively) for great wrestling. It's just people try to get others over the top rope.

I've gotten B+ battle royals before, with TCW. It can be done.

How about last Sunday? I thought that it was a particularly high quality battle royal.

I agree it was good, and with respect to other matches of its kind, I'd say it would be an A. But with respect to matches overall, it was a B at best.

I think the thing is though, much like different promotions, different match types have their own "agendas" or purposes.
A Battle Royal is very different to a singles match, but surely there's potential to have a fantastic, A* Battle Royal. Someone said there's not as much "good wrestling", but the very same can often be said about cage matches and especially ladder matches, but I think a lot of people will agree that some of the most amazing matches of all time have been in a cage or involved ladders.
So I would suggest that a great battle royal would not be judged on the same criterea as a regular match would. There has to be some X Factor involved. The other thing is, let's say 2001's Royal Rumble is considered an A*. Was it all completely filled with A* Popularity guys, with really strong skills across the board? No. You had guys like Steve Blackman, Al Snow, Bull Buchanan, Honky Tonk Man... even Drew Carrey! But it was one hell of a Battle Royal all the same.
I have to disagree with people that this latest RR was so good. There wasn't a lot of action going on for most of it. HBK really carried most of the match just with his consistency in chasing down Undertaker. The three guys at the end collectively didn't even do a lot. Batista was on the ground or out of the ring for 80% of his time in the match, and of course Triple H and Cena came out as the last two, so besides their quick "get rid of the buildup", all they did was taunt and then have a scrap which wasn't nearly as good as HBK/Taker the year before. It didn't create OR settle any feuds, and didn't do anything as memorable as even the Jericho/JBL finish.
It was an okay match to watch, and RRs always have that excitement of "who's next?", but compared to other RRs it wasn't really up there.
As far as non-singles matches getting lower ratings though, I've had mixed success. I can pull out a good A* Six Man Singles almost any show, but an A* Tag Team match, one of the very staples of wrestling, I have to be very, very lucky. Even if in every combination, the four competitors get an A* singles match between them, often the Tag Match will only be a B.
So in total, I agree there should be some re-working of the match rating systems, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. It just would be nice to have a Royal Rumble as the Main Event, and have it not totally bomb.

I would suggest that battle royals bombing is probably due to product settings. Ladder matches and cage matches were mentioned in an earlier post - now in TEW, each match gives you a choice of "style of match" - so a ladder match will either be a high flying match or a normal one (depending on how the mod maker set it). Assuming it was set as a high flying match - then two good flyers are likely to get a high rating from the ladder match. Similarly - a cage match would probably be set as a "brawl" - so two wrestlers with high brawling stats would get a good grade.
Now we move to the RR - IMO this would have to be considered a brawl (as there is practically no actual (proper) wrestling involved! I can't remember whether there is an actual setting in the game for that though. Now of the 30 guys involved, how many are REALLY good brawlers? Maybe half if you are lucky? So the other 15 guys, having little brawling ability, are going to drag the rating of the rumble down, due to their lack of ability at that TYPE of match.
Now all of that is just my thoughts - I've got no proof that it works like that - but it does seem fairly logical to me.

I totally get what you're saying there, and I should have been a bit more specific earlier. Take the three way tag Ladder match at WM16, or the MitB matches. Great matches, yes? Containing many more than just two people.
The Battle Royals in the default CVerse data are all set to Regular IIRC (their might be a Women's BR set to Eye Candy?), and sure you can have them set to others - I think the best BR I've had was a 10 man Hardcore, run by my friend/opponent whose product pretty much allows him to do whatever he wants and bring in the super ratings.
I can't get a good BR going in any way I've tried, so I stopped trying once my game got to the point where if I was doing any less than an A overall I'd be losing :P

yea but is the br really based off of the match skills or entertainment value.
