I would like to challange the Grey Dog people to come up with a political sim. The measuring stick for political games thus far is called President Forever 2008+Primaries, and it is a really good game. But I think that the Grey Dog folks could do even better. I think that it should be where you can run for local and national offices, ie, city council, county seats, mayor, state senate, governor, so forth and so forth.

I invision a sim where you create a character that you guide to elected offices, climbing the ladder, maybe if your character does good enough, would be appointed to UN jobs, Embassador to other countries, so forth and so forth. You make friends and enemies baised on strategy and where youy stands on the issues are.

There should also be a way where you can write your own speeches instead of depending on computer generated responses, appear on the various news shows such as Meet the Press, Face the Nation, Fox News Sunday, and the various MSNBC, Fox News Network, CNN shows. Also, the ability to plan a barnstorming run should be taken into account, and the election results should be as they are on the networks. Sound good?

I would like to add to the post. I think that once your character reaches said office, that any decisions made should have some effect in the game. Let's say that, in game, Congress passes a bill to inact the Fair Tax Plan, eliminate the IRS, and repeal the 16th Ammendment (since I am a Fair Tax fan). The President can either sign the bill into law, or he can veto the bill. Depending on the action taken, there should be reprocutions to the action, either favorable, or not so favorable.

This may be taking away from the orgional post, but I wouldn't mind having the option to build the government from day one, when George Washington took the oath. It would be interesting to see what may have happened if Abraham Lincoln had caved during the Civil War days. Suppose Roosevelt had not gotten us into WWII when he did? What if John F. Kennedy had visited Dallas a day earlier? This would make things very interesting indeed.

Or if JFK didn't visit Dallas at all...

Back in the day, I had my Commodore 64 and played the hell out of President Elect '88.

This is a great idea. I bought an outdated presidential election board game from 1967 just to be able to have fun and poke fun at the process. This is an idea who's time has come. (and gone, in four years - HA)

Yeah, I have President Forever 2008=Primaries, and Election Day 4.05. I just believe that Grey Dog could do it better.
