I know you guys are busy, but I was wondering if someone would give my request a shot. I don't want to sound irritating, but I'd really like the alts of Des Davids and Dermot O'Logical I asked for a few pages back. I don't mean to cause trouble or whatever...

Just a reminder of the gimmicks:

"The Alpha Male" Des Davids
heres a pic of the original Alpha Male

Khomos (Dermot O'Logical as the mythical Greek god of jokes)
I imagine him as a mixture of Heath Ledgers Joker and this guy.

If anyone could give it a go, I would be very appreciative.

Kept the parasite jaws in, but altogether more suitable I hope. Also kept Orson's hair sticking out, so that they're easy to identify between. Here they are:

Not trying to rain on Marshall's parade as he's doing a great job on these alts right now. But I had this Billy Robinson/Parasite from a while back and it was no trouble to match Wade Orson up with it. Feel free to use it if you want.

As promised, i've rendered 100+ random props for you to mix and match with. I didn't want to fill up a message containing all those images so here's a small sample of what's included in the file link at the end:

Some of them might be a little dark because I only used basic lighting, but that can be easily rectified in whichever graphics package you're using.

Could I get an alt render for Remo?

I was thinking some facial hair (possibly a beard) with tribal tattoo possibly around (not necessarily a circle though) his right eye. Something a little more menacing... Kind of like a cross between Christopher Daniels and Mike Tyson (The tattoo idea on the face).

Cheers.

I was wondering if anyone would want to take a chance at this? I'm sorry for throwing it back out there again. I would love to see a new alt render for remo seeing how he doesn't really have many other than this "Morpheus" look.

Thanks!

Just to restate from earlier, I'm also looking for an alternate one for Marty Papin the Canadian announcer-if anybody needs me to post the original pic up to remidn them what he looks like, happy to do it.

Unless the model has been created in a certain way (I wont bore you with the details) then you can't have anything front-only without me editing the model before rendering. That would take way too much time, especially when it's quick and simple to just cut out the parts you don't need in Photoshop/GIMP or whatever graphical software you use.

On the ones i've already done I removed as much as I could so only the front was showing. For example I removed all of the legs on each of the sunglasses because I knew it would be difficult to remove them later, that was easy though because on those models you could remove parts at the click of a button.

Ah, the complexities of the various modelling softwares hadn't quite struck me there. I'll have to brush up on my cutting then! To be fair, it is nearly 5am here :)

Not a bad idea that, although it does looks like they're being offered money rather than holding it up, heh. Still, I reckon it's the best way possible :)

I don't know if it might help, but I recently made a render for the GDS-Verse with a similar character flashing a wad of cash... it's a little more in the foreground (although the lighting I use is maybe a bit more garish), but you could try and cut that.

My request has apparently been covered by all these brilliant alts, so I'm going to re-request.

Worker(s): Alan Parent
Requested Change(s): Can he be given a Samurai kind of look, like Haruki Kudo?

He now needs to be turned to American Kudo (credit given to Sigilistic)

Also.

Worker: Squeeky McClean
Changes: Anything. He just seems so bland.

Worker: Lion Heart
Changes: Likewise, see as you fit.

Worker: Keith Vegas
Changes: See Above

and finally.

Worker: Weird Waldo Odlaw
Change: In his profile, it says he used to work as a masked brawler "The Gremlin." Can he be made into the Hardcore Gremlin?

The last time I made such vague requests, we had the influx of Ben Williams alts.

Here's two possibilities

With Robbins, I'm not sure what you want. Are you looking for a Magnum TA type mustache?

Thanks so much Scorp for the Pistol Pete photos!

I got to playing with Photoshop this weekend and made a few if anyone wants them. I figured I'd be part of the solution ... so I made the Robbins one myself.

They're first attempts, so any suggestions would be welcome. The last one (the original) I made with CameraMate/SvR 2009 and some cut and pasting and blending in Photoshop.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/sample.jpg

Quine: i'm trying to turn her blonde, I thought it was to bright so I toned it down. I'm still not satisfied, but it may just be that one dark patch on the right side that's bothering me, what do you think?

Whippy as Doink: It just doesn't look right to me, but I'm a perfectionist.

Any feedback on where I can improve them would be appreciated. I should also not that I have a hard skin and take criticism well, so don't worry about my feelings

Self

For Catherine Quinne, you should up the contrast on the hair. The colour is good, it just could do with a little more definition between the light bits and the dark bits. Play with the contrast feature.

Your Whippy just looks like you're drawn on it, which isn't how facepaint should look. It should match the skintones of the character you're drawing on. The light bits should be light. The dark bits should be dark. Even if you're changing the colours. How I would do Whippy is to Lasso his skin, then desaturate and brighten it a little. Then do the same for his eye makeup, turning it blue or what-have-you.

You're right about whippy, even though I didn't draw on it, it looks like I did. I actually cut the face off of a photo. However, what you said gave me an idea of how to approach it differently thanks.

You know, if it were me, I wouldn't worry so much about the first one. Looks fine to this admittedly untrained eye. But if you're worried about the rounding of this mask, I can see a little why that might be considering the pattern you chose for it.

The Perez as Taker would be more my concern. He's either badly sunburned and too raw to compete or just barely survived a drowning in sunless tanner. I don't know the techniques but it would seem you need to lighten him up a little. Especially if I'm seeing that Sara-like Death at his neck correctly. It took me several viewings to even imagine I saw that. The brightness of the skin tone obscures it to the point you practically have to squint to see it. I often have similar issues with the black guys in the C-Verse. The deeper black they are, the harder they can be to make out fully.

I have two requests for anyone willing to take them on.

1) Jim Force with the American Flag as facepaint, the facepaint can take up more of his face if needed.

2) One of these guys Atlas, Nickey Champion, Erik Strong, Frankie Perez, or whoever you feel works the best as Vincent from Final Fantasy series, so basically red headband and jacket that comes up. I gave a lot of options since I'm not sure who would work best so just whoever the artist things will work

Okay, we've had a lot of new people requesting alts and a lot of new people doing them, myself included so I think everyone needs to be reminded of some things. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but I know I got burnt out after just doing pics for a couple days and had to take time off, and I think it will help make things smoother. Also, I'm not directing this at any one person or post, so no need to take it personally or apologize.

1. Everyone that does alts does them on their own time. They receive no compensation and the most they get out of it is some praise and the creative satisfaction.

2. Be patient. Some pics are easy, some are more complicated. I know for me personally, I do pics first that are either really easy or I think the idea is cool and want to try it. A character that I have no interest in that requires a lot of work, is not going to be first on my list. Also, their have been some people patiently waiting for weeks. I made two requests almost a month ago that nobody ever did, So I went out and got gimp and did them myself. There's nothing wrong with asking a second time if you think your post got overlooked, but be polite about it.

3. Please and Thank you go a long way. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but if a request lacks either of those words or I think the person is being demanding, I won't do it. It's just simple courtesy.

4. Lots of praise and an Andrew Jackson will guarantee that the next time you make a request, I'll be right on top of it. :p

5. If the work doesn't come out the way you hoped, don't be afraid to ask for changes. Just be polite about it, and be specific.

6. Lastly, there was a form that was set up for requests. Its very helpful for the people doing the alternates. It looks like this:

Alt Request
Worker(s):
Requested Change(s):

Remember, this thread is for doing alternates of the stock pics, if you want a wholesale change of the picture, this is not the place to ask.

Like I said, I'm not trying to step on any toes, or piss anyone off. I enjoy doing alts, and I know others do as well, and I just want to keep it that way.

I can understand that they take a long time but when your request is 10 pages ago i just think that maybe people have forgotten so i think its best to post them again.

it just might be a idea for someone to acknowlegde it like marshall did for me about 9 pages ago. It means at least i know someone has read my post.

No you don't need to repost. I was just putting that as a help. That format also allows someone to scan messages quickly and see which ones are requests. And, like I said, theres nothing wrong with asking again if you think it was overlooked. I agree, if someone is going to do a pic, it helps to let the person know they are working on it. For me, I won't respond untill I know I can do a quality pic as i don't want to tell someone I'll do it, then not.

New pics from the new photobucket (lost the password for the old one). Here's Eddie Chandler supporting a look that properly showcases his Fabulous Heel gimmick.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/EddieChandler1.jpg

Remember that storyline when Hotstuff Marie called off her engagement to Jack DeColt, and he went through that... phase...?

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/JackDeColt1.jpg

Yeah. That was a hard few weeks of Title Bout Wrestling to watch... Although I did like all of those promo's about how dark his soul was without her. Very amusing. Of course, the whole eye makeup thing was blatantly stolen from the "Panda Cult" idea I unsuccesfully pitched for NOTBPW a while back. I tried to sue, but...

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/AlexDeColt2.jpg

Alex DeColt had been playing a Lawyer gimmick at the time, which had apparently gotten and A* rating, because he was good enough at it to convince the judge he was in fact a lawyer, and that the only way to settle things was to have me and Jack fight. Unsurprisingly, Jack kicked my ass. Surprisingly, this showing of thugish force and pure disregard for the safety of a fellow human being was enough to win Marie back.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/JackDeColt2.jpg

Jack is now happy... The f*^%£r.

I've just gotta say - Self, Scorp, Marshall, all of you in fact, these are just fantastic. I feel my drag-and-drop stylings of throwing shades and suits on people pales a bit in comparison, any chance of some tips? :)

Self

Dragging and dropping is a the majority of what I do too. For those last two alts, I just had the guitar, the choker and the blonde streak on file, that I had cut out of a few regular C-Verse pics, and I basically dropped them into place. Stone Cold... I mean Frozen North Jack DeColt is basically Jack, with the two jacket pieces I cut from some t-shirt, the top of George DeColt's head and the ears & temples of Alex DeColt. It's all dragging and dropping.

I use MSPaint for 87% of my work. I like the simplicity. I look at the current C-Verse pictures, find a prop or a distinguishing feature I like, zoom in 8X, and use the paint brush to delete every pixel I don't want to take, isolating, for example, Rocking Ryan's guitar. Then I drag it onto Tracy. Now I did 100 or so pics without doing this next step, but what I now do is open the improved picture with a more complicated program such as GIMP and make use of the blur tool. Blur is really good for making things blend into the picture, like they're actually there, but you're got to be careful not to overdo it. On Tracy, I used the freehand lasso tool to select just the very edges of the guitar, about 3-4 pixels wide, and then hit blur once or twice. It makes the join between guitar and background look more natural, while keeping the guitar as crisp as it ever was. That's the best thing I've learned from doing this.

GIMP also has other uses, such as changing hues, brightness, contrasts, and the 'super blur' (I forget the real name) tool, which is handy for merging skintones. It's also good for the final export from .bmp to .jpg. MSPaint is terrible at converting to .jpg. Messes everything up big time. I still love MSPaint though, and I'll always use it for the bulk of the work.

Anything can be cut around and dragged onto another picture. Suits, props, hair, scars, mouths, eyes, noses. As you get more comfortable with the process, you'll start to try more complex projects. The first thing I did was drag the eyes of Panda Mask II onto Harrison Hash (long live the Panda Cult!!!). Very simple. I kept playing with things, until a few months ago when I carefully copy and pasted various pieces of Wanda Fish and Cherry Bomb's faces to make the non-Goth Devil's Daughter and Vixxen. That's probably the most complicated thing I've ever done... and I now know an easier way to do it... Typical.

Just play around. There's no magic program we use. There's no special skill. Just zoom in on some pictures, see how things go together. Find out how the pictures work. Then cut, drag and drop. Maybe you can give a forgotten character a new lease of life. Maybe you can convince someone to make Calvin Dark or Thomas Morgan or Freddie Datsun a World Champion.

Probably your best one. Only suggestion I have is to either dodge the beard or burn the hair so that the two are the same color, but that's more personal preference.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l304/Weden7/CalvinDark_alt2.jpg

The beard could be darker, and looks uneven around the bottom lip. Looks more like a fake beard than a real one, but that could be what you're going for.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l304/Weden7/DougPeak_alt.jpg

I like Doug Peak with a mustache, but it isn't quite... three dimensional enough? The left side of the mustache doesn't seem to go too well with the slight tilt of his head.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l304/Weden7/DougPeak_alt2.jpg

Honestly, not a fan of this one. The beard looks too big for his face.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l304/Weden7/DougPeak_alt4.jpg

Probably my favorite of the three Doug Peak pictures. The bottom side of the bandanna looks a little rough though.

Depends on what you're trying to achieve here. If you're just trying to put Eguchi's hair on Kumasaka, you have a lot of work ahead of you and I don't know how to help you as I'm mostly an end user of these pics. But if you intend the beige strip as a headband (not the best color choice for one if you do) it needs rounding to achieve the headband effect rather than the cut-out paper doll effect.

Personally, I'd like to think if I were able to do this and this were my piece, I'd pretend I was going for the headband look whether it was my original plan or not. Just round the edges off the beige strip, paint it a better color for a headband like a nice black maybe and be good enough to go with while I learned my technique.

This isn't bad, its just not finished. The next step is to make the piece you've fitted look like its a part of the picture. There are several ways to achieve this depending on what program you are using. If you are using paint you'll need to make a detailed cut of the piece you are pasting (i don't use paint, so correct me if thats wrong) or use the headband idea.

I use gimp which doesn't cost anything. The I would do it is to cut the piece just like you did, but after i paste it and before I set it, I would erase all the stuff I didn't want. I'll post a step by step in a little bit to give you and anybody else that wants to try this an idea of how I do it. Of course, thats only my method so you have to find what works for you.

Here's a quick sample of how I blend my alts together.

First, I'll show you how I would give Jack Griffith a haircut.

First I would open up the blank background

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Wrestling/_BlankBackground.jpg

Then I add a layer to it (this means that whatever changes I make on this layer will have no effect on the blank background). Then I copy and paste the Jack Griffith picture onto this layer.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Wrestling/JackGriffith.jpg

Now, I just use "eraser" and everywhere I do, the default background comes through.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Edited/step1.jpg

And now jack has a new do.

Now I did the same with your alt.
I started with the picture of DK

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Edited/DangerKumasaka.jpg

I added a layer and pasted your photo on top

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Edited/DangerKumasakaalt.jpg

Now, using nothing but the eraser, I took out the parts of the picture that didn't blend

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/jerem77/Edited/DangerKumasaka_alt.jpg

In both test photos there is still work to be done, but hopefully this will help anyone who is looking to make alts.

Out of curiosity how did you do it?

Self

Alrighty. I used a lot of a program called Photofiltre for this, although GIMP is probably better. I don't know why I don't like GIMP, I just don't. Still, GIMP has much of the same tools and functions. I'll stop saying GIMP now... GIMP.

STARTING POINT

http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk264/immortal_enigma/JackGiedroyc_alt.jpg

Here's the Jack I did a while back, now available in the C-Verse database. Such pride I feel. Look at that beard... so wild... so untamable... He's the kind of lone wolf bad ass you know your father will hate... and that keeps you up at night...

Step 1) I slowly and carefully lasso selected the hair. With just that selected, I hit Desaturate like 3 times to take out the colour, Darken 3 times and Upped the Contrast 1. I then lasso selected the very edges of the hair, and Softened them into the background a bit, just to minimise any excess brown pixels, and make it look more natural. Using MSPaint, I then zoomed in, found any surviving brown pixels, and pencilled in the right colour. Any program can do this, I just like Paint.

Step 2) I lasso selected each of the beard pieces, and did the same thing. It didn't need quite as much darkening or desaturating.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/Streak.jpg

Step 3) I took this piece from my big .bmp file. I desaturated it a few times, upped the contrast and the brightness, and dragged it into place. I wasn't happy with the first few tries, so I did it over and over, until it looked right.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/JAckGied77.jpg

Step 4) Next I decided to steal something. J Silver did a Jack alt with a cool necklace, and because I knew I was going to lean towards the Wrath of God gimmick, I just knew I had to have it. I hope J doesn't mind. I opened his pic with MSPaint, cut around the necklace, pixel by pixel, leaving a sizeable border of skin around it, and dragged it onto my Jack. Strangley, the skintones didn't quite match, but I combatted that by lasso selected about 5 places were the join was very noticable, and hit Blur. The skin tones faded into each other, and it looked very natural. This was especially easy because the necklace had already been 'fitted' onto a previous Jack. Normally it takes more work.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/JackGiedroyc4.jpg

Step 6) I don't know how others do face paint, but the way I did it was very similar to how I did the hair. I used the lasso to select a nice cross-shaped group of pixels around the eye, but not the eye itself. I then desaturated, darkened etc, until it looks as it now is.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p366/celdom/C-Verse/JackGiedroyc6.jpg

Essentially, I did the entire thing by Lasso Selecting various parts of the original picture, and changing the colour of those parts using various Desaturate/Brightness tools. No Burn. No Dodge. I don't know what either of those are and I don't need to know. I also dragged on two props, then softened several sections, to hide any blunders, or weird looking pixels.

It's all simple stuff, that anyone can learn. So as my good friend Neil Buchanan used to say "Try for yourself".

Doesn't work in the least. Looks like you put the pieces together right but you'd have had to do a whole lot more to the Hopkirk base to make this gimmick fly. This reminds me of putting Billy Gunn in the Rockabilly gimmick rather than waiting for someone more baby-faced like Shannon Moore or Kenny Dykstra. A soft rock bit would much better fit someone like a Chance Fortune or Joe Sexy than Hopkirk. Still you seems to have the mechanics down as they were being explained last night.

Alfonzo Reddick has some Joey Poison skin on the hairline, I'd zoom in and fix it up to make it 100% usable. Just my opinion.

Maybe add some blood trickling down from the hairline.. like he scalped the little bastard and is wearing his hair like a hat.

It's not a render as it's a mix of a render and of a CV worker's torso, so I figure it could go here in case anyone wants a generic masked man. Maybe.

Also I dunno if I posted it but here's a tidied up Boo Smithson

Worker: Bulldozer Brandon Smith
Requested Changes: With his brown hair (Alter ego Generic #1) but without that freaky smile, please :D

Also, as there seems to be a preponderance of thse going around...

Could anyone do me a Sydnicate-d Jean Cattley, please? Just the plain suit for preference, although if you want to go nuts with sunglasses or whatever, who am I to stop you? Really, just anything so I don't have to look at that ratty old blue shirt of his any more :p

Something a bit simpler for me to do whilst I ponder my next big ideas :)

I know this has been filled, but I came up with an idea how to do it last night and I got myself psyched up to do it.

I know you wanted more of a full on paint thing, but that's not my forte. I gave it a go, but... epic fail. I did a little "Wrath of God" themed thing though.

P.S. I'm probably going to use this for Joey Poison in my CGC game. His colourful happy babyface gimmick has taken him as far as he can go.

Man, that's awesome. i'm going to use it in my game but since he is tag teamed with Valiant in my game i tried to make a version of this gimmick for him.

"Wrath of God" is actually a good tag team name for them too:D

Would anyone be able to make a long-haired Chance Fortune both with and without a five o'clock shadow beard? Thanks in advance

Could anyone make a pic of one of the wrestlers (any wrestler that fits the mold), using the long-black hair and KISS makeup, well as the attire. If you can thanks in advance.

I have one of these, but it looks more like the dark Sting from WCW.

Unfortunately, I didnt make it and I dont remember who did. I dont want to post it beccause I cant give credit to the maker.

Al Coleman - Can he possibly look a little more menacing but keep the ginger hair.

A more serious and arrogant Al Coleman:

wow, the "Wrath of God" team between Valiant and Jack Giedroyc is amazing! it's actually having me change my plans for Valiant as we speak and giving them (hopefully barring any sort of chemistry issues) a lengthy tag title run.

I didn't get this as pretty as I would have liked, so if anyone wants to take a shot at it I certainly wouldn't be offended.
