View Full Version : Championship Wrestling from Boston Lives Again (A C-Verse 08 Diary)

I was seriously considering not doing a diary for 08 but I really enjoyed goofing around with CWB so I figured I'd give it another go. I'm going to start this game off in June 2008...I can't promise fight posters for every card :)
To recap....
There aren't many things I remember from my childhood. Sure, there are the stories that my mom brings up over the holidays to embarrass me in front of my wife. For some reason, they usually involve me being naked. Overall, though I don't have many memories of my younger days. I don't remember who my best friend in first grade was or remember why I ever bought that Quiet Riot album...
...but I do remember wrestling.
I was 8 years old in 1975 when I first got turned onto Championship Wrestling from Boston. I cheered on the Boston Bomber and Iron Mike Milligan as they battled to gain the Boston Championship from the uncontrollable Wild Man Sullivan. My dad even took me to the matches a few times at The Den, which was certainly not a place for little kids now that I look back at it.
I lived and breathed with my heroes from Championship Wrestling from Boston until one day in 1978, much like the Brooklyn Dodgers of the past, it just vanished.
The Supreme Wrestling Federation moved in and pretty much killed the smaller territories of the area. I watched for awhile but fell out with their emphasis on entertainment over sports. I longed for the smashmouth wrestling, the technical battles and the wild brawls of my days spent glued to the set watching the CWB.
What if there was a way to get it back? What if there was a way to present wrestling how I enjoyed it? What if that meant I could get other people back into it as well and create a small promotion for the Boston fans to rally around once again?
What if...?
I came into some money recently on a few stock trades. Nothing much. $5,000 at most but it was something. I sat down with my wife and after a long talk she gave me her blessing. I wasn't going to quit my day job just yet but it was something she could tell I really wanted to do. I had to give it a shot.
It turned out that Gene Plumelli, the promotion's founder, had transferred the rights to Charles "The Boston Bomber" Davison. It took a month or so but I finally tracked down Mr. Davison (he was working security at a college in Cambridge). I bought the rights off him for a little under $3,000 leaving me with $2,500 to get things started. I offered him a spot with the company but said he'd have to think about it. After the toll the business took on him, I understood.
My name is Andy Hartigan. I'm the new owner of Championship Wrestling from Boston...this is where my story begins....

OK, now what?
Isn't that always the feeling when you set off to do something that you dreamed about for so long. You finally come to the point where you say "I'm going to do this!" You get all excited and you step out the front door to....
...yeah, I don't know what I'm supposed to do first either.
It's June 1st 2008 and a friend of mine who works the bar at Biker's Paradise said they have an opening on the last Saturday of the month. I told him to book it for me...I needed something to kick me in the ass to get me going...I needed that deadline or I would never get this thing off the ground.
Some wrestlers to work the show would be nice.
In an effort to show my ties to the past I wanted a gesture, something to say "we know where we came from and this is where we're going". I wanted to honor those who came before me...
Thus, the Gene Plumelli Memorial Cup was born. I was going to have to crown a Boston Heavyweight Champion at some point so what better than to combine it with that very tie to the past I was searching for. The Gene Plumelli Cup could be a yearly destination point, similar to the Rip Chord Invitational but different...ok, maybe not that different but it's in Boston instead of the Carolinas.
Thankfully, in the day of the internet, a lot of these independent wrestlers have websites for booking info...I sent out some emails with my business plan and sat back and waited for the response. This was exciting, I'm actually going to do this!
I really hope I don't screw this up...

I got some responses back...fourteen to be exact and I think I have a really strong starting roster. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out:
Main Eventers
The Masked Patriot (this character has a long legacy in the area)
Roderick Remus
Brady Prince
Bradford Peverell
Upper Midcarders
Primus Allen
Ash Campbell
Air Attack Weasel
Kirk Jameson (mgd by Kristen Pearce)
Daredevil Aero
Duberry Excess (playing the part of hometown hero)
Midcarders
Davis Wayne Newton
Thomas Morgan
Keith Vegas
Lowercard
Ben "Bump Machine" Williams
The negotiations went pretty well. The only snag we hit was with Morgan and Newton wanting their trans taken care of. After going back and forth, I decided that even with paying their trans costs it still put them on average with everyone else on the roster.
**EDIT** I put some feelers out and was actually, thanks to the connections the guys who signed onto this promotion had, to sign some working arrangements with the following companies:
FREEDOM Carribean Wrestling
Mid Atlantic Wrestling
Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling
Rhode Island Pro Wrestling
and thankfully, the juggernaut that is Supreme Wrestling Federation signed a non aggression contract with me. I guess they were afraid I might steal some of their big names...or something... **EDIT**
We're only really a Local promotion at best so I'll have to try to swing some sponsorship deals. I've worked in software development long enough to at least have a few friends who will be looking to advertise. My plan is to set up a website and then show portions of the shows on there to spread the word that Championship Wrestling from Boston is back!
So now all I got to do is book my first show....

THE GENE PLUMELLI MEMORIAL CUP TOURNAMENT 2008
Saturday, Week 4 June 2008
56 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Be sure to check out the show at www.cwb.com (http://www.johnkeating.biz)!!
The first show...after one night of intense dreaming and a lifetime of being a fan, I was putting on my first real show. I spent all day handing out flyers, trying to let people know about the show. I was a mixture of anxious and exhilarated. This was actually happening!
The fans are milling about as there's not a bad seat in the house (literally, since there's under 60 people here including the bar staff). Andy Hartigan climbs into the ring, almost tripping on the bottom rope in the process:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you so much for coming out and welcome to the first annual Gene Plumelli Memorial Cup Tournament!! (smattering of applause) I'm sure you, the same as me, were big fans of Championship Wrestling from Boston growing up. What I plan to do is bring that name back to prominence, back to it's former glory and in the process build something we Bostonians can call our own! I hope you'll come along for the ride and bring a few friends, too. OK, enough blabbering from me, lets get this tournament underway with our first match..." D
Roderick Remus d. Davis Wayne Newton in 11:45 to advance
Remus has a little name value in Boston so he went over. Newton, though, has the makings of someone who could be a promotion carrying champion and I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him as he builds his name here. Remus wins with the Remus Clutch. E+
Ash Campbell d. Daredevil Aero in 10:30 to advance
A very mediocre match and I was hoping for a little better aerial display. Aero is really green and Ash wasn't the guy to carry him. Campbell with the SSP. E-
The Masked Patriot d. Thomas Morgan in 12:24 to advance
Patriot got some recognition applause as the gimmick has a long legacy in Boston. He's also working over in MAW and getting some praise there as well. Morgan is playing a flashy, spoiled athelte gimmick complete with eyebrow ring. Best match of the night so far with Morgan's technical prowess working well with Patriot's power attack. MP wins with a belly to belly suplex. D-
Bradford Peverell d. Ben Williams in 5:02 to advance
Peverell is playing a degenerate gimmick and really just beat the hell out of Ben. KO punch at the five minute mark ended this one. Still a better match than Ash-Aero. E
The Masked Patriot comes over to the announce table and Hartigan hands him
the mic:
Hartigan: "Congratulations on a big win, there but you've still got to get through two more matches to win the tournament and be named the first Boston Heavyweight Champion."
TMP: "Thank you Mr. Hartigan. I know the road is going to be tough but I'm up for the challenge. The Masked Patriot has a long history here in Boston, where the country truly began. I'm not about to tarnish that legacy or let these fans down. You're going to get all I have." E+
Ash Campbell d. Roderick Remus in 16:03 to advance
Very strong match between these two and I can envision a solid feud down the line. They work together very well. Remus really had the crowd behind him with Ash playing a chicken**** opportunist. Remus looked to have the match won with a moonsault bodyblock but Ash turned it over and yanked the tights for the win. D
Masked Patriot d. Bradford Peverell in 13:43 to advance
Another strong match for Patriot as he's really stepping up here. Peverell is a fun character and he's a strong addition to this roster. Good brawl here with the story being Patriot had to avoid Peverell's deadly knockout power. Patriot slips in with a Backdrop Driver for the win. D
Ash Campbell comes to the ring: "Masked Patriot, you are nothing but an old school corny ass throwback. If you had any guys you'd take me on right now. I can't wait to beat you and rip that stupid mask off your head!!" D-
Patriot motions Campbell into the ring as we head to the finals....
Masked Patriot d. Ash Campbell to win the Gene Plumelli Cup and the Boston Heavyweight Championship
These two lived up to the faith I had in them by putting on a strong finals to the tournament and really bringing up the quality of the show. It wasn't Match of the Year but it was a solidly worked, exciting finale to the tourney. Ash cheated every chance he got and looked to put the Patriot away after a chairshot during a ref bump. The Patriot summoned all of his strength and kicked out. From there it was all Patriot and he takes the tournament and becomes the first champion with a thunderous Backdrop Driver. D
A jubilant Patriot is handed the championship belt and tournament trophy. he goes into the "crowd" to celebrate with the CWB fans. E
Overall Show: D-
Notes: The feedback I got was that some of the fans wanted the matches to be more "intense". I can adjust that next show. Patriot was a little weak on the stick but definitely not horrible. Ash is great on the mic and will be getting more time to show that off in the upcoming months.
Overall, I was thrilled with the first show, even if I did lose $235. Next month I'll headline Patriot vs. Campbell and only showcase two other matches to keep costs down.

THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES
Saturday, Week 4 July 2008
57 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Check out show highlights at www.cwb.com (http://www.johnkeating.biz)
We open the show with Kristen Pearce leading Kirk Jameson to the ring. The ring announcer announces him as from Boston, MA and the crowd pops. Pearce quickly grabs the mic: "Although Kirk Jameson may have been born in this stinkhole of a city, he is most certainly not living here now. He's moved on people, to bigger and better things. My name is Krsiten Pearce and he is under my management now...Mr. Jameson now hails from The Greatest City on Earth...The City That Never Sleeps...New York, New York!!!" D-
Kirk Jameson d. Keith Vegas in 8:27
An ok match. Vegas is not very good but Jameson has some serious mat wrestling skills. He made this one watchable and put away the Sprout Faced Boy with the Bullseye. E+
Thomas Morgan comes to the ring, decked in a warm up suit: "That's right, feast your eyes on "Trademark" Thomas Morgan. You are looking at one of the most highly skilled and sought after wrestlers in the entire world. Brady Prince, do you really think you stand a chance against this modern marvel of athletic prowess?" E-
Brady Prince d. Thomas Morgan in 13:38
I was hoping for at least a D- from these two. Prince is a decent wrestler and Morgan has some skills as well but the crowd wasn't into it. Prince is being pushed at the top of the card for a run and we'll see how he does. E+
Ash Campbell: "Masked Patriot, last month you were lucky. I was exhausted from my two matches while you got cake walks to the finals. Who did you pay off, huh? Well tonight you're facing a fresh Ash Campbell. You are in for a surprise, you masked idiot!" D-
The Masked Patriot d. Ash Campbell in 20:02 to retain the Boston Hvywt. Championship
An excellent match and these two really seem to work well together. Ash bumps a lot for Patriot's power game and then cheats to take the advantage. Patriot wins it cleanly via his backdrop driver. D
As Patriot is handed his belt and he celebrates a hard fought win, Primus Allen charges the ring and blindsides him!! Ash is screaming into the microphone "take him out!! Take him out!!" as Allen pummels the masked champion. E-
From out of the back, weilding a steel chair, comes Brady Prince!! Ash decides discretion is the better part of a 2 on 1 attack that just became even sides and pulls Primus out of the ring. Allen has an intense staredown with Prince as the show ends. E
Overall Show: D-
Notes: Another solid show with a very good main event. We only lost $35 on this show so we are really close to making a profit. I was a little worried after last month but I think we can weather this as the audience grows.
Kristen Pearce was surprisingly very good on the mic. I was impressed with her promo. Morgan, on the other hand, wasn't so great and his mic time will most likely be curtailed unless he has something important to talk about.

Thanks guys! Glad to have you along. Yeah I definitely wanted to shake up the lineup although I'm sure you'll be seeing some familiar faces along the way.
The reason I started it in June, if anyone is wondering, is because I wanted to have the Plumelli Cup as the first event and didn't want it to be in January as that's when the Rip Chord Tourney is. I figured it would work better as a summer event for my lineup with the year end Brawlapalooza being the signature show. Gives me two tent poles.
Are you planning on using written storylines or just using unchained ones?
I've always used a mix of both. It's tough when you're only doing monthly shows to do a full fledged storyline but I have used them in the past. I wrote about 6 or so new storylines for the DOTT mod and I'm sure those will be getting used here at some point. I use a mix of DOTT and Default storylines in my games.

I was also taking about a Diesel or Batista style bodyguard. Someone who is good enough to wrestle in the main event and even could possibly win the title if he stopped following the champion blindly.

Yeah, IMO the best way for small companies is to run two BIG storylines (whether or not it is chained or unchained) and then have a couple of minor storylines (that may or may not be storylines at all) that you can mix and match from month to month.

Glad you approve. I do have big plans for the feud...we'll see if they pan out the way I want them to! :) It's always tough at the onset with the Local promotions for the first couple of shows as you want to get a couple of guys over so it's usually two semi squashes and a main event :) That's why I didn't do much with the Quick Picks just yet. I was on the fence a bit. I mean it's good but it's still CWB, but it's the 'Special Phone Interview with the Masked Patriot' is a brilliant local promotion way to get out of paying the Patriot his exorbinant prices!
I'll go with Campbell due to Allen interfence. And then The Du to counter the evil Jameson anti-Boston stance from the previous show.

Ha, gotcha. Yeah I wanted to redo CWB as I felt with the new features it might really be interesting in TEW08.
I've been watching a lot of Memphis circa early 80's and the same time period for Georgia Championship Wrestling lately so expect to see a VERY old school territory type flavor here :) I got nostalgic for some Lance Russell and Gordon Solie style studio wrestling!

THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES
Saturday Week 4 August 2008

Primus Allen (w/ Ash Campbell) d. Riley McManus
McManus was on loan from MAW as we just needed someone to go in there and put over Allen strong. Riley did just that and I'm sure we'll have him back in the near future. This match was all offense for the Rookie Monster and he wins it in about 5 minutes. E
Ash Campbell grabs the mic: "Did you see that? Did you SEE that? That, you idiots, is what they call domination. Primus Allen is the baddest man on the planet and he is under my control! He's got MY back and Brady Prince and especially you, Masked Patriot, don't stand a chance!" D-
Andy Hartigan: "I think the attack perpetrated by Campbell and his Rookie Monster Allen was just disgusting. Campbell has had two shots at the Boston Heavyweight Title and he has come up short on both occasions. It's time he started looking in the mirror when he's looking for answers. I refuse to give it any more time." E
Duberry Excess d. Davis Wayne Newton
DWN is still getting his feet wet in the area but his performances in ring are really impressing me. Duberry is from South Boston and the crowd just loves him. He gets the win here in about 12 minutes. E+
Duberry: "Whassup Boston?! I'm loggin' on ta cwb.com last month and I see Kuhhk Jameson out he-yah runnin down Bawston. That's crap, guy--"
Before he can get any more words out, DWN blindsides him and then hightails it out of the ring. F-
Andy Hartigan has a special phone set up so everyone in the audience can hear the next segment. He calls The Masked Patriot:
Hartigan: "Patriot, I'm really sorry we can't do this in person but I know that cowardly attack left you pretty injured last month"
TMP: "Yeah, I'm still nursing a severe sprain in my ankle. I will be back next month, though and I'm not going to stop until I rid the territory of both of those creeps"
Hartigan: "They were out here running their mouths about how dominant they are. I think you'll have other things to say about it"
TMP: "Bet on it. I just want to thank all of the fans for supporting me and supporting Championship Wrestling from Boston. I also want to wish Brady Prince the best of luck in tonight's main event. I'll be seeing you all very, very soon!" E+
Ash Campbell (w/ Primus Allen) d. Brady Prince by DQ
About what I was expecting out of these two. The nice thing about only being an f+ in overness allows me to book matches like this and still improve for a bit :). Decent action with Prince making sure not to turn his attention away from Allen too much.
Campbell hit the Shooting Star Press when out through the crowd charges The Masked Patriot!!! Referee Chad Brent has no choice but to DQ Prince as the match turns into a fourway brawl!! E+
As Primus and Ash hightail it out of the ring area, Patriot grabs the mic: "You think you're the only one who can play mind games Campbell?! Brady and I want you two goons in a tag match next month so we can have both of you in the ring where we can keep an eye on you!!" E
Overall Show: E+
Notes: We were able to bump the ticket prices up to $4 which is still a steal! This show we actually made money...$263 to be exact which puts me close to breaking even with the money I started with. A huge relief as I think I'm going to be ok.
This was more of a storyline show than about the matches themselves. Good, solid action but it was forwarding the big main event storyline.

Definite squash here for the entertaining Peverell. He just comes off as a degenerate and plays into that very well. He toyed with the young Vegas before KOing him with his Hands of Stone punch. E+
Andy Hartigan is about to hype tonight's big tag team main event when Ash Campbell comes to ringside and interrupts: "Before everyone gets their panties all in the bunch over the main event, I have a little news for you. In doing some research I see that the last title defense for Masked Patriot was at July's Birth of a Nation, when he cheated to beat me. Patriot has not defended the title for TWO MONTHS when Championship Wrestling from Boston rules clearly state that a champion has to defend his title at least once every 30 days."
Hartigan: "Well, there is room for leniency, especially considering the circum---"
Campbell: "Whatever. If Patriot does not defend his title tonight that means he will go THREE months without defending it. A little more than leniency, wouldn't you say there Mr. Hartigan. I am demanding that, unless you'd like me to make a little call to the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission, that he defend his Boston Hvywt. Title TONIGHT!" E+
The Masked Patriot storms out from the back: "Campbell, you don't have to ask me twice...you want me to defend my belt, I'll do it right now! Get in the ring!" D
A huge grin spreads over Ash's face but the words of Hartigan stop him: "Hold on, hold on. Just because he has to defend his title...it doesn't mean it has to be against you, Mr. Campbell. You're not getting the title shot tonight. Bradford Peverell just had an impressive win and I'm giving the shot to him, if he would like it!"
As flips out as Peverell heads to the ring with a look like the cat who ate the canary. E-
The Masked Patriot d. Bradford Peverell in 18:38 to retain the Boston Hvywt. Title
Really solid match with Patriot dodging Peverell's hands the entire time. Good back and forth action with both men getting in a lot of offense. The finish came when Peverell thought he had Patriot and went for the KO blow. Patriot ducked and picked up Bradford in the Inverted Piledriver for the win. D
Ash Campbell and Primus Allen storm the ring and brutally beat down Masked Patriot. F+ Brady Prince runs out for the main event but Patriot is in no shape to wrestle...
Ash Campbell & Primus Allen d. Brady Prince in 13:28
Prince started out strong by beating down Ash but once Primus was tagged in the heels got and kept the advantage. Patriot returned to ringside, beaten and battered, but it was too little too late as Prince fell victim to the MonsterSlam. E
Overall Show: E+
Notes: In a perfect world. the title match would have been last. I needed it where it was to tell the story though and with our popularity so low, even an E+ helps us. I was really happy with it and we drew 10 more people than last month. So the word is spreading. We also made $273 which puts the company coffers at $2,759.

Masked Patriot to Defend Against Marc Speed
"Since the Powers that Be in Championship Wrestling from Boston don't want to give me a much deserved title shot, I have gone outside the company and acquired the services of Marc Speed," states Ash Campbell.
Speed is most well known for his recent run with Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling and was being brought in for a match on the October Dream On show when Ash Campbell stepped in and acted as Speed's "manager" for the one shot.
The idea was brought to CWB offices and initially turned down. When Masked Patriot got wind of the challenge, he refused to let it go.
"I've billed myself as a fighting champion from day one and if Marc Speed wants to come in for a shot at the title, he's more than welcome. He's a great wrestler although I question his choice of company. I just hope he's not too disappointed when he heads back to CZCW empty handed."
This one promises to be a spectacular contest

Nice job bringing in Marc Speed, I don't think he matches to your product persay, but he is a good worker and who knows, maybe 'Speedball' can slow it down for ya. That or Patriot will have to drop him on the back of the head. Either way it should be good.

Brady Prince in the main event? Seriously? I mean, I like the guy but you're out of your mind. :p
I always love it when outside guys are brought in for one-shot deals to help out someone from the permanent roster - and put over someone on the permanent roster. Hopefully the latter is what's going to happen with Speed coming in.
And yes, you are practically obligated to me to create a Mr. Olympia gimmick! :D

Haha, I'm on a limited budget and he has decent skills and overness. He's like the Johnny Weaver of the Cornellverse. Solid, white meat babyface :)
I kind of look at Masked Patriot like a mix between Mr. Olympia and Wrestling II. I've been watching a lot of old Mid South...Olympia was THE MAN!

DREAM ON
Sunday Week 4 October 2008
66 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
check out show highlights at breakingtheice.johnkeating.biz (http://breakingtheice.johnkeating.biz)!
Roderick Remus d. Daredevil Aero in 10:21
A good high flying opener between two babyfaces. Remus is still finding his way with his character and this gave him a chance to get over with the Boston crowd on his ringwork. Not a bad match but Aero is still very green. E+
Ash Campbell comes to the ring with Marc "Speedball" Speed: "Tonight you are going to get the privilege of seeing one of the most highly touted athletes on the indy scene. Marc Speed doesn't need to conceal his identity and use the comissions and authorities to win his matches. He does it the old fashioned way, he earns his wins in the middle of this ring...just like Ash Campbell! Patriot, your celebrated title reign comes to an end tonight! Just remember Marc, I do get 30% commission...that's what we agreed to, right?" E+
Brady Prince d. Air Attack Weasel in 13:54
An excellent match and this is the kind of output I really want to see from Prince. Weasel, despite a ridiiculous name, really busted his ass here and I can see really good things from him in the future. Prince needed a strong win here as he is set to take on Primus Allen in the rookie's biggest singles match yet at Brawlapalooza. D-
Prince asks for the mic (God help us): "Primus Allen...I've already signed to meet you at Brawlapalooza next month. You and that toady Campbell are gonna pay for your crimes. Payment is due son!" E-
The Masked Patriot and Marc Speed (w/ Ash Campbell) fought to a double countout in 18:23
The best match in CWB to date. I wanted Speed to put over Patriot cleanly but he put up a stink. He still busted his ass in the double CO, though and I would consider signing him to a contract for this match alone (and then he'll have to do what I tell him!). Speed had the advantage early using a lot of mat wrestling until Patriot could unlock the puzzle and gain advantage, using a lot of high impact suplexes and slams. The match tumbled outside the ring and both men were counted out as the crowd was really into this one. D+
Campbell jumps Patriot from behind after the match and furiously tries to yank the mask off his head. Patriot fights him off though and delivers a thunderous belly to back suplex sending Ash scrambling. E
Patriot: "Campbell, I'm tired of you and your cowardly attacks. Lets you and me settle this thing once and for all at Brawlapalooza. You want a title shot...you got one...in an I QUIT MATCH!!!" E+
Overall Show: D
Notes: Without a doubt our best show yet. Two pretty strong matches and a solid opener. I'm hoping Brawlapalooza can be a destination show for us and so far with Patriot vs. Ash in an I Quit Match and Prince vs. Primus, it's shaping up as a big deal.
This show was so well received that I got a call from a bunch of beer sponsor's who wanted to promote at the show (hey, we're in a bar...their beer is only a reach away). I got about $11,000 in sponsorship (5x the money I started out with!) so that's going to allow me to open the purse strings a bit. Brawlapalooza is going to be a 2 hour show and I've already contracted some names to bring in. I love my core roster though so I'm giving them a chance to establish themselves and not just retooling the entire roster.
EDIT: I didn't realize match types had "size" limitations on them so at Small I'm not able to hold a steel cage match. I kind of like that limitation so I'm doing some retcon here...lets pretend TMP challenged Ash Campbell to an I Quit Match, shall we? OK, good...let us continue :)

I don't think Patriot's going to say "I quit". Plus it's a feel good moment to end your big show. You might go for a title change to make the big show feel special too, though.
Brady Prince vs. Primus Allen
Like I said, I like Prince but having Allen lose here would be cutting him off at the legs.
Roderick Remus vs. Bradford Peverell
Hands of Stone trump the feeble cruiserweight - and breaks Remus's jaw in the progress.
Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Pearce) vs. Duberry Excess
The home town boy FTW
CWB DEBUT! Stevie Grayson vs. Thomas "Trademark" Morgan
You've shown that you have a soft spot for Morgan before, but Grayson is probably more useful for you at this early growth stage.

QUICK PICKS:
I QUIT MATCH for the BOSTON HVWYT TITLE: The Masked Patriot (c) vs. Ash Campbell
- Shenanigans lead to a slightly shock upset. I think Ash gets a quick run, as a heel on top is very old school which shipshirt is going for. Especially with Primus running interference for him.
Brady Prince vs. Primus Allen
- New champ needs a new challenger. Primus loses and the first seeds of discontent are sewn between Allen and Ash.
Roderick Remus vs. Bradford Peverell
- I like the new Peverell character.
Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Pearce) vs. Duberry Excess
- The Boston Duuuuuu shocks the overconfident Jameson and voila... insta-feud.
CWB DEBUT! Stevie Grayson vs. Thomas "Trademark" Morgan
- Debut = the win.
Davis Wayne Newton vs. Ben Williams

BRAWLAPALOOZA
Saturday Week 4 November 2008
59 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
The turnout was a little disappointing as we dipped below our 65 fan average the past two months. It's still slow going...
Davis Wayne Newton (w/ Kristen Pearce) d. Ben Williams in 5:21
DWN is now a part of the Pearce Foundation. He looked good here in what is his first win in CWB. Good squash. E
Pearce takes the microphone: "I've already started adding assets to the Pearce Foundation portfolio. Davis Wayne Newton is one of the hottest free agents on the scene...well, at least he was. He'll have to relocate, just like Kirk Jameson did, to the Greatest City in the World...New York City!!" D-
Stevie Grayson d. Thomas "Trademark" Morgan in 12:07
Excellent match with Morgan getting a lot of offense in. Grayson made a comeback and had the crowd on his side. Definitely a main event player. D
Andy Hartigan calls Graysin over to the announce table:
Hartigan: "Congratulations on a great win on your debut here in Boston. Fans are surely familiar with your work from TCW but what are your plans here in Boston?"
Grayson: "Thank you. There are a lot of great wrestlers in CWB and unfortunately, there are a lot of jerks too. Guys like Ash Campbell, Bradford Peverell, Kirk Jameson...I not only want to take on these guys and prove myself but I also plan on, one day soon, wrapping that Boston Hvywt. Title around my waist" D-
Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Peare) d. Duberry Excess after Pearce interfered
The battle of Boston as Southie takes on Chestnut Hill. Duberry was none too happy that Jameson renounced his Boston heritage for a Manhattan address and started off aggressively. Jameson was able to ground him and take out the legs. The Du came back and had Kirk down, heading to the top rope for the Excess Force but DWN pushed him off the top rope (as the ref was distracted by Pearce), allowing Jameson to hit the Bullseye for the win. Very good match D
Primus Allen (w/ Ash Campbell) d. Brady Prince in 10:32
Primus was on offense most of the time here as this move was all about him showing off his impressive attack. Prince was none too happy about doing the job (when isn't he?) so I tried to give him enough offense without taking away the purpose of the match...making Primus look like a legit threat. He wins clean with the MonsterSlam. E+
Ash grabs the mic: "Did you see that Patriot? There's your buddy, Brady Prince flattened on the mat. He didn't even get a chance to quit...but you will. You're going to have plenty of chances to scream I Quit tonight when I beat the living hell out of you!!" D-
Roderick Remus d. Bradford Peverell in 17:51
This match went way too long for these guys as they don't have the psychology, even with the script, to pull it off. That was my fault. The finish was good, though, as Peverell hit Remus with the "Dream Left Hook" but then played to the crowd, allowing Rod to get his bearings. He went for the pin but Remus small packaged him for a flash 1-2-3. Peverell was shocked by the loss E+
The Masked Patriot: "Tonight I not only defend my Boston Hvywt. Title for the good fans here in Beantown, I'm also partaking in the most dangerous match in the game...an I Quit match. Two words, five letters...Campbell, you and I have been up and down the road for the past few months but it's ending tonight. I'm going to make you quit the match...and then I'm going to make you quit wrestling." D-
The Masked Patriot d. Ash Campbell in an I Quit Match in 20:12 to retain the Boston Hvywt. Title
Another strong match in the series between these two. Campbell surprised a lot of people by actually keeping up with the brawling and really letting his killer instinct show. Primus Allen was about to get involved early on but referee Chad Brent sent him back to the locker room to the thrill of the Boston faithful. Patriot wins with the Inverted Backbreaker. D
Patriot celebrates his win with the fans, even downing a non alcoholic beer! Don't drink and drive kids! E+
Overall Show: D-
Notes: Not the best of show of the year but that may have been because it was 120 minutes instead of 60. Remus-Peverell was the only disappointment but that was my fault for making it too long. I want to do a little series between them.
With all of the sponsor money we cleared close to $10,000 this month. I'm going to look at running two 90 minute shows a month in 2009 if this keeps up. We can definitely afford it and still be above water by a thousand or so.
The main event for Year End Blowout is looking like the first meeting between Primus Allen and Masked Patriot.
There were two new signings this month: Sgt. Bubba Lee West and Warren Technique. That brings our roster total to 17, only one wrestler over the suggested roster for a Small promotion.

The Masked Patriot (c) vs. Primus Allen (w/ Ash Campbell)
This is Allen's first shot at the title but he's looked unstoppable thus far. After Patriot put away Campbell and made him say I Quit at Brawlapalooza has the issue between them ended...or is it just heating up?

Patriot's had a good run, Ash is in Allen's corner and Allen's big push and current status as an unstoppable force in CWB would be damaged should he lose here.
Duberry Excess vs. Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Pearce)
The Du's got Jameson figured out this time. I just know it.:)
Ash Campbell vs. Brady Prince
You seem to be high on Prince and maybe he'll get a shot at the title in a few months. Plus Ash doesn't really need a win... Unless you want him to feud with Patriot for costing him the belt... Or unless Patriot gets by Allen... So what I'm saying is, this one could go either way and I have no idea who'll win but I don't want to copy anyone elses predictions.:p

YEAR END BLOWOUT
Saturday Week 4, December 2008
56 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Andy Hartigan welcomes the fans (at this rate he could almost do it personally) and makes a big announcement: "Championship Wrestling from Boston is back and I couldn't be more thrilled. One of my favorite aspects of pro wrestling has always been the tag teams. Boston has seen it's share of great tag teams making their way through the area. Guys like Boston Bomber & Iron Mike Milligan. The team of McBride & Haggns. Edmond Jackson & Othello Dawson, the original Masked Patriot and Cheif Two Eagles...the list goes on and on. So what better way to pay homage to the past and build for this promotion's feature than to introduce the Boston Tag Team Titles!
In the coming months, I'll be scouting teams from all over the world as well as wrestlers right here in Boston wanting to tag up for the honors. We're working on planning a tournament to crown new tag champions and we couldn't be more excited about it. I hope you'll join us each and every month here at The Bike to see that happen. OK, enough babbling from me...on with the show!" D-
Sgt. Bubba Lee West d. Keith Vegas
A total squash match to get over the ruthlessness of the Sadistic Sergeant! E
West calls for the mic: "You out of shape, Boston slobs. Look at you, drinking your alcohol and bringing down the American way of life. You are disgraces and should be ashamed to call yourselves Americans! I am here to clean up this putrid promotion. You've got a guy in a mask calling himself a Patriot...in a MASK! You know who wears masks? Terrorists! Now I hear talk about tag team titles being introduced. Fantastic. I'm here to find one recruit who doesn't make me want to puke my guts out. One recruit who has the fortitude to team with Sgt. Bubba Lee West...the greatest American of them all!" D-
Stevie Grayson d. Warren "Machine" Technique
I was originally going to start Warren out as a heel but I'm a little heel-heavy so he'll most likely work babyface. There was nothing heelish in this match, just a well fought clash of styles between a high flyer and a technician. Good stuff with Grayson getting a clean win. D
Bradford Peverell d. Roderick Remus after KOing him with a roll of quarters
I kept this one to about 13 minutes...BIG improvement. Peverell was livid about last month's loss to Remus and came out overly aggressive here. In doing so, he went for a wild KO punch on Remus outside the ring and ended up smashing his left hand on the ring post. The rest of the match was him trying to use his Dream Left Hook but unable to because of the injury. Desperate for the win, he pulls out a roll of quarters with his RIGHT hand and KO's Remus, falling on him for the pin. D
Peverell runs around the ring like he just won the World Title and Hartigan stops him to get a word:
Hartigan: "Mr. Peverell, how can you be proud of that?"
Peverell: "What are you talking about?! I'm the winner...I'm the winnnnnaaahhhhhhhh!!!!"
Hartigan: "What's all that in the ring?"
Peverell: "I have no idea...that's the people. People threw that in there!"
Hartigan: "What? You just hit him with a roll of quarters!"
Peverell: "I hit him with NOTHING! Nothing but power!! WHoooooooo!!! I can getcha lefty OR righty!" D-
Ash Campbell d. Brady Prince
Shocker...Prince bitched about doing the job. Ash needed a win here as he had been on the losing end of the feud with Patriot. Not a good match at all and my love affair with Brady Prince is definitely on the waning side. Ash wins with his Shooting Star Press. E
Duberry Excess d. Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Pearce)
Another excellent match between these two and this has been the surprise hit of the year. Duberry gets the win when Kirk whips him into the corner and he hits a gorgeous moonsault bodyblock for the 1-2-3. D
After the match, Davis Wayne Newton charges in and Pearce screams at both men to take out The Du!! They beat on Excess and toss him out of the ring to the jeers of the crowd. F
Ash Campbell leads Primus Allen to the ring for the main event: "Patriot, you think you got one up on me by beating me last month. Bully for you, sir. I don't see it that way...I got to see how you work up close. I know your strengths and more importantly, I know your weaknesses! I've told this man everything I know from wrestling you...you don't stand a chance!" D-
Primus Allen (w/ Ash Campbell) d. The Masked Patriot by CO; Patriot retains the Boston Heavyweight Title
An all out brawl. A notch below last months I Quit match but here Patriot got to show some of his selling which is pretty good. Primus is not only freakishly strong but very quick and agile. He got the majority of the offense in the match and the finish came when Allen slammed Patriot hard on the concrete, rendering him unable to get back in the ring for the 10 count. D
Overall Show: D-
Notes: Even though the crowd turnout is pretty dismal, we're still making great cash on our sponsorship deals. This is allowing me to bring in high priced talent like West and Grayson.
In December we were part of our first Reginal Battle with NYCW and RIPW...we actually came in SECOND! I was thrilled. NYCW was first and the Rhode Island group was last. We're still about as low as prestige as you can be but people are taking to our product.
Without any official awards, the CWB Wrestler of the Year would have to be The Masked Patriot as his strong, babyface presence really held us together for the past six months. His match with Marc Speed, even without a conclusive finish was the best Match of the Year.

FIRST NIGHT
Saturday Week 4, January 2009
61 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Check out show highlights at www.johnkeating.biz! (http://www.johnkeating.biz!)
Warren Technique d. Daredevil Aero
A decent opener but not much more than that. Technique is working a clean, technical style. Aero got a little momentum with some highflying towards the end but was cut off and the match ended from there. E+
Featured Attraction (Air Attack Weasel & "Trademark" Thomas Morgan d. Keith Vegas & Ben Williams
Hartigan hyped Featured Attraction as they are partaking in the tournament to determine new Boston Tag Team Champions. Williams and Vegas were not good here...at all. The heels showed good teamwork and this will be a fun team to explore in the future. E-
Sgt. Bubba Lee West d. Riley McManus
McManus is on loan from MAW. He was in once before and he's a solid talent. He may become a regular later in the year. West just brutalized the youngster from the opening bell and wins with the Recon Wrench. E
West refuses to stop beating on Riley, screaming that he's "weak and doesn't deserve to be in the ring". Stevie Grayson charges to the ring as the crowd cheers him on to stop the carnage. E
West: "Grayson, how dare you interfere in my business! You are the typical young American, with your iPod and your interweb...you're weak and soft like all of these idiots!"
Grayson: "Why don't you find out just how weak I am and take me on next month at Top of the Hub?" D-
Kristen Pearce leads Kirk Jameson and Davis Wayne Newton to the ring: "Next month, at Top of the Hub, the new Boston Tag Team Champions will be decided in a four team tournament. My team, the Pearce Foundation, is already entered and you can be sure when we win those belts we'll take them back to New York...the Greatest City in the World. Maybe we'll have to rename them the Manhattan Tag Team Titles" D-
Duberry Excess d. Davis Wayne Newton (w/ Kristen Pearce) by DQ when Kirk Jameson interferes
Once again, this feud has been the surprise hit of the company. Very good match between these two with the crowd solidly on The Du's side. DWN is a fantastic worker and I wouldn't be surprised to see him shooting up the card soon. The Du was about to put Newton away with Excessive Force but Jameson ran in for the DQ. D-
Ash Campbell d. Stevie Grayson after Sgt Bubba Lee West interfered
Not a great match as I was expecting much more from these two talents. Ash needs someone like a Patriot to really guide him through the match. Neither of these two are a match leader. West attacked Grayson on the outside and whaffled him with a steel chair, tossing him back in the ring for Ash to hit a Shooting Star Press. E+
The Masked Patriot: "Last month I did the one thing I promised I wouldn't do...I let the fans of Boston down. I lost my first match in this territory and I lost to Primus Allen. I can't take anything away from him...he's powerful, fast and vicious. An amazing competitor. I've been training all month, though. Harder than I ever had before. What happened last month will not happen again!" E+
The Masked Patriot and Primus Allen (w/ Ash Campbell) fight to double stoppage; Patriot retains the Boston Heavyweight Title
These two tore into each other right from the get go. Patriot scored first with a thudding clothesline. Primus regained control with a spear from out of nowhere. At about the 18 minute mark the action spilled out of the ring. The battle raged on as referee Chad Brent had no choice but to call for the bell, unable to get control of the match back. D
Overall Show: D-
Notes: I couldn't be happier with Duberry Excess vs. The Pearce Foundation. It's giving solid matches that could main event most shows. Next month, Duberry will be teaming with Roderick Remus in the tag tournament.
Coming in for the Boston Tag Title tournament is the team of Dragon del Arco Iris Jr and Amo del Gato from FCW. The brackets will be Team FCW vs. The Pearce Foundation and Featured Attraction vs. Excess/Remus.
Primus is really handling himself well in the past two main events.

He'll win again! And this time he'll win for realz!
Stevie Grayson vs. Sgt. Bubba Lee West
I kind of like Sarge better but I'm going with Grayson since he is probably more logical, setting up a challenger for Primus at the next show.
TOURNAMENT FOR THE BOSTON TAG TITLES:
Featured Attraction vs. Duberry Excess & Roderick Remus
As much as I'd like to see Morgan get a push, you've got to have a home town team in the finals.
Amo del Gato & El Dragon del Arco Jr vs. The Pearce Foundation
Putting you own guys over the talent on loan seems logical here. Plus, the Foundation is likely to have a good match with Rod & Du because of chemistry and whatnot.
PLUS:
Brady Prince vs. Warren Technique
This is pretty much a filler match I think. Maybe it's building towards something for Prince or maybe he's putting over the new guy - kind of hard to tell but I'm going with Prince even though your "love affair with him could be over".
Bradford Peverell vs. Daredevil Aero
Peverell takes on another on of the biggest, baddest, and most monstrous opponents he can find, further proving his dominance in CWB~!

TOP OF THE HUB
Saturday Week 4, February 2009
58 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
check out show highlights at www.johnkeating.biz (http://www.johnkeating.biz)
Andy Hartigan welcomes the fans to TOP OF THE HUB and has a special, surprise announcement: "As you may know, we also broadcast show highlights at www.johnkeating.biz (cheap plug!) and as much as I love announcing the shows, I thought it would be even more fun to announce with someone. So please, help me welcome, the guest color commentator for tonight's show...JESSE "THE POWER" CHRISTIAN!"
The fans applaud politely as he's not exactly a household name in Boston.
Jesse: "Thanks Andy and thank you Boston. I've actually lived in the area for a bit and while I'm not an active wrestler any longer, I do enjoy the sport. When Andy asked me to come down and provide some commentary I was thrilled as this company puts on some exciting shows"
Andy: "I don't think tonight's will be any different, Jesse. OK, enough rambling from me...on with the show!"D-
Bradford Peverell d. Daredevil Aero in 10:21
Aero is on his way out after this match. A very good match though as Peverell has really stepped up his game. Some brief hope spots and ending with a Dream Left Hook. D-
Rod Remus & Duberry Excess d. Featured Attraction to advance to the finals of the Boston Tag Team Title Tournament in 12:58
I was really hoping for a better match between these two teams. It's Rod and The Du's first teaming though, so that's understandable. Decent action in a very formula tag match. E+
Brady Prince d. Warren Technique in 14:07
This one went a little too long. Prince did not look happy even though he was going over. He doesn't ever seem to be happy. Poor guy. Technique is definitely one of those "glue" guys that can hold together a decent match. He really carried this one here. Prince wins with the Maryland Crossface. E+
Kristen Pearce leads the Pearce Foundation to the ring: "When I first came to this dingy little town...from the Greatest City in the World! New York, New York! I promised you that I would be taking over. Tonight, by winning the Boston Tag Team Titles, I will start phase one of that corporate takeover. " E+
The Pearce Foundation d. Amo del Gato & El Dragon del Arco Jr in 14:21 to advance to the finals of the Boston Tag Team Titles Tournament
This was an excellent match with Gato and Drago showing EXCELLENT chemistry as a team. You can be sure they are being considered for a full time run in the company. Just classic heat spots with Kirk and DWN beating down Dragon until he could make the hot tag to Gato. The heels win it with The Manhattan Transfer (a backbreaker/legdrop combo). D-
Sgt Bubba Lee West: "Attention you maggots!! I walk through the streets of this town, where the country was formed and it makes me sick. Boston is full of drunks and fat people with goatees and shaved heads...don't even get me started on what the men look like! Stevie Grayson, you represent everything that's wrong with this country and what has become of the youth...I'm gonna beat some respect into you!" D-
Stevie Grayson d. Sgt. Bubba Lee West by DQ in 16:20
A really strong match and contender for Match of the Night. West was all out brawling and just tried to maul Grayson. The latter used his speed and quickness to sting and move. West was getting frustrated as he could never get a decisive advantage over his foe and earned the DQ by bashing him with a chair. D
West wouldn't stop there, though, as he tossed Chad Brent out of the ring and prepared to set Grayson up for a piledrive on the chair. BRADY PRINCE charges out from the back and the crowd cheers him on to make the save.
Prince gets in the ring and an evil smile forms on his face. He instead helps West piledrive Grayson on the chair!! E+
Andy Hartigan: "That was one of the most cowardly, disgusting things I've ever seen Jesse. I can't imagine what would possess Brady to do something like that."
Christian: "I've known Brady Prince for a long time, even teamed with him on occasion and I can't wrap my head around this. That is certainly not the man I knew."
The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) d. Rod Remus & Duberry Excess to win the Boston Tag Team Titles in 14:44
A decent match with Duberry coming so close to gaining his revenge on The Pearce Foundation. It was not to be, though, as Kristen gets involved and distracts The Du leading to Jameson hitting the Bullseye for the win. The Pearce Foundation is very reminiscent to a Midnight Express style team. They celebrate their title win as the fans are not happy. D-
Ash Campbell comes leads Primus Allen to the ring for the main event. He grabs the mic: "My my my, if it isn't Southern wrestling legend Jesse Christian. Hm, you look a lot older in person. Probably for the best you you're sitting behind that desk.
Onto bigger, more important matters...tonight you will see the Rookie Monster Primus Allen utterly destroy the Masked Patriot once and for all. This will not be for the faint of heart." D
Primus Allen d. The Masked Patriot in a Boston Street Fight to win the Boston Hvywt. Title in 20:21
A total non stop brawl from the get go. This one spilled out of the ring in about 5 minutes and the two wrestlers battled around the bar for a good stretch of time. One big spot was Primus Allen spearing Patriot through the Men's Room door! The finish came when Patriot had an opening and was going for the Backdrop Driver but exhaustion prevented the move. Allen spun around and whipped Patriot into the ropes, executing a MonsterSlam for the win and the title. D
Overall Show: D-
Notes: Jesse Christian did a great job on commentary. He should be a great addition to the, ahem, roster.
It was a night for heels as Allen takes the Hvywt Title, The Pearce Foundation make good on the Tag Titles and Sgt. West finds his recruit in Cpl. Brady Prince.

Haha! Thanks! Yeah you called all of them...you win the coveted "No-Prize"!
I always find the first few months of starting a promotion like this alternately the most fun and also the most by the numbers. I have to establish at least a handful of guys and pretty much book them A B C before I can start throwing some interesting stuff in and shake it up.
Prince just has that military look to him...I think they'll turn out to be a decent team.

How did it make Patriot look bad? Just because he lost the title, he still was strong in doing so. It's the only match he lost so far and Allen has been pushed as "the unstoppable force". It's all part of the larger storyline, though. Patriot is over but he's not a "recommended main eventer" yet. So I'm building both men in the process.
It's not over yet...it's building to something.

THIS AIN'T NO TEA PARTY
Saturday Week 4 March 2009
64 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA

Andy Hartigan opens the show, along with color commentator Jesse Christian:
Andy: "Well, we held out for the best but unfortunately, due to that cowardly attack by Sgt. West and Brady Prince last week, Stevie Grayson has been sidelined with a neck injury. We were hoping he'd be able to be here tonight but that won't be the case."
Christian: "You know, Andy, when you start out in this business you understand there's a certain amount of risk involved in competing but something like this...well, there's no excuse for it."
Andy: "OK, enough rambling from me...on with the show" D
Featured Attraction d. Amo del Gato & El Dragon del Arco in 10:23
Excellent opener and this was Gato and Dragon's last match on their talent trade. They showed excellent chemistry teaming together and I'm already looking at bringing them in under a contract at some point to bolster the tag division. Morgan and Weasel get a needed win here to keep them strong. E+
Sgt. Bubba Lee West leads Brady Prince to the ring: "When you maggots refer to my new recruit here, you will reference his rank and show proper respect. Cpl. Brady Prince has seen the light..he was soft, undisciplined and it showed in his won/loss record. Now, under my command, he will be molded into a proper, killing machine! Cpl. Prince, what say you?"
Prince: "SIR, YES, SIR!!!
West: "Stevie Grayson, you were the example. I suggest you lick your wounds and stay home, boy. You're a little boy in this man's world." D-
Cpl. Prince d. Antonio in 10:34
Originally, Antonio was going to be brought in to defend his MAW colleague Masked Patriot and end up putting Primus over. He refused. He would, however, do the job for Brady Prince...go figure. So that's what he did. Instead of a solid main event, he gets the second match from the bottom and a virtual squash. Prince looked good and won with the Crossface. D-
Kirsten Pearce: "Last month, I made good on my promise to have Davis Wayne Newton and Kirk Jameson win the Boston tag team titles. Tonight, in singles competition, Mr. Jameson shows you exactly why they call him the Marksman as he takes apart Rod Remus." E+
Rod Remus d. Kirk Jameson (w/ Kristen Pearce) in 14:82
This one was match of the night as they really busted their ass. Jameson got a lot of heat on Remus and got the crowd behind him. Remus wins when he escapes the Bullseye and rolls into a Remus Clutch for the tapout. D
Ash Campbell d. The Masked Patriot in 18:20 after interference from Bradford Peverell
Patriot started out strong with the crowd behind him. He refused a pre match interview as he didn't want to complain about his title loss. He dominated the offense and even got color on Ash. Peverell came to ringside and sucker punched Patriot with the Dream Left Hook. This allowed Ash to hit the SSP for a cheap win. D-
Ash and Peverell were not finished yet. With Patriot KO'ed, they sport evil grins as Peverell holds Patriot and Ash Campbell attempts to UNMASK HIM!! The crowd is booing as Ash yanks at the hood!!! E+
All of a sudden, JESSE CHRISTIAN jumps up from the announcer's table and slides into the ring. Ash yanks off the mask but Christian throws his shirt over the unconscious Patriot to cover his identity!! E-
Christian gets some help for Patriot to be taken to the back with the shirt firmly protecting his identity. Christian calls for the mic: "Ash Campbell, you are a piece of crap, man. I may not be an active member of this roster but with Mr. Hartigan's permission and if Patriot will have me...I'm challenging you and your boyfriend Peverell to face us NEXT MONTH!!" E+
Primus Allen d. Duberry Excess in 16:51 to retain the Boston Title
The Du scores major points with me to step in for Antonio in the main event. He sold his ass off for Primus, who was working without Ash in his corner for the first time. Allen gave Excess a few hope spots and some decent high flying offense (Primus never leaving his feet) and wins with the MonsterSlam. D-
Overall Show: E+
Notes: The rating took a bit of a hit because of the huge Patriot Unmasking angle but that was needed. Primus, right now, is just being established as the dominant champion and probably won't have a true, toe to toe challenger for a month or two.
We're really excited to see Jesse Christian back in the ring and he's been a great influence on this very young locker room.
In other hiring news, RILEY McMANUS has been signed to a PPA contract.

OVERKILL
Friday, Week 4 April 2009
70 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Kristen Pearce opens the show by introducing her latest signing...Warren Technique: "Ladies and Gentlemen of this hellhole you call Boston. The Pearce Foundation will go to any length to find and acquire new talent...even as far as Canada. May I introduce to you, Warren Technique...a technical wrestler so precise and methodical, the rest of the CWB roster is put on notice." E
Warren Technique (w/ Kristen Pearce) d. Amo del Gato in 10:11
A good opener. Gato started off strong and took Technique by surprise with some high flying lucha moves but Technique ground him down and won the match with a rear naked choke. The Technique signing came about due to an upcoming situation that will be detailed in the CWB Newsletter this month. E+
Rod Remus and Duberry Excess come to the ring and since Pearce is there already, they want to get their tag title shot going....now!
Du-Rod d. The Pearce Foundation by DQ in 16:50; Pearce Foundation retains the Boston Tag Titles
These four men have not disappointed since they started feuding. A great, old school formula tag with Duberry playing "Ricky Morton" and making the hot tag to Remus. The finish came when, after a double Superplex on Davis Wayne Newton, Excess went for the pin. Pearce couldn't take the chance of losing and sent Technique into the ring to earn the DQ but save the titles. D-
Internet Exclusive! Fans who visit CWB's website were treated to a workout video with Sgt. Bubba Lee West putting Cpl. Brady Prince through his paces in a grueling workout. Prince had to run uphill holding a giant tree trunk, run a military obstacle course and do what amounted to 500 squats as West screamed at him and called him weak the entire time. E
Ash Campbell and Bradford Peverell come to the ring. Ash is "wearing" Patriot's mask: "Patriot, two months ago you lost the Boston Title. Last month, I took the last thing from you that I could...no, it's not this ragged piece of cloth...it's your dignity. This mask represents the last vestiges of your dignity and I took it from you. You are truly a man with nothing, now. It's time for you to pack it in and head on home." E+
Jesse Christian & Masked Patriot d. Ash Campbell & Bradford Peverell in 18:01
The babyfaces charged the ring as the "largest crowd in recent CWB history" cheered them on. Patriot had a new mask and Christian was wearing a red, white & blue bandanna across his eyes. The heels scooted out of the ring. This one was all the babyfaces as their frustration and anger poured forth with every punch and kick. No short arm scissors or Space Flying Tiger Drops in this one. Christian gets the pin on Peverell as Ash and Patriot brawled outside. D-
Primus Allen charges to the ring and blindsides Christian. He then assists Ash with Patriot and the heels continue to beat down the faces. Security enters the ring before any further damage can be done. E+
Primus Allen d. Dragon del Arco Iris Jr. to retain the Boston Title in 10:23
A mistake headlining this one. I like to give the title respect but the tag match was the true main event. Allen isn't a leader in the ring yet and still needs someone in there that can bring him to a great match. This was not a good match but not a terrible one.... although there was some good power displays by the champ. Allen wins with the MonsterSlam. E+
Jesse Christian comes to the ring but security is holding him back....he and Allen stare at each other intently. E
Overall Show: E+
Notes: As mentioned, I should have put the tag match on last. I thought Allen and Arco might be able to get at least a D- but not to be. Oh well, I'll know better next time.

Hair vs. Mask?
After the events of the past few months between Ash Campbell and The Masked Patriot, the latter has made a bold challenge for BEANTOWN RUMBLE.
Patriot will put his mask up against Ash Campbell's hair. Hair vs. Mask.
"Ash was right when he said that he stole my dignity by ripping my mask off like a coward," stated Masked Patriot. "It did take something from me. This is my way of getting that back. If he wants to unmask me and see my face, let him beat me in the middle of the ring and I will take it off for him. If he loses though, I'm going to take his pride away...along with those long, blonde locks."
Ash Campbell cautiously accepted the challenge but refused to comment. So we're set for BEANTOWN RUMBLE and the first ever Hair vs. Mask match in CWB.
Tag Team Title Turmoil
It appears that Pearce Foundation member (and one half of the Boston Tag Team Champions) Davis Wayne Newton will be leaving the promotion before next month's event. Newton has been courted by many companies in his native Canada and has decided to explore other options. CWB officials were prepared to vacate the title until Kristen Pearce filed a formal complaint against the decision.
"Since Warren Technique is a member of the Pearce Foundation and the contracted names of the Boston Tag Team titleholders reads as "The Pearce Foundation" I am replacing Newton in the team with him. Mr. Technique will pick up all of the championship obligations of the departing Mr. Newton."
It appears the buisness savvy Pearce has exploited a loophole in the Championship Wrestling from Boston by-laws and the decision will be that the belts remain with The Pearce Foundation.
Jesse Christian goes for the gold
"I wasn't planning on returning to the ring but I feel like I have no choice now. It's like the old saying: 'watch out what you wish for, because you just might get it."
After defending The Masked Patriot's honor at OVERKILL and suffering a three on two beatdown at the hands of Ash Campbell, Bradford Peverell and Boston Champion Primus Allen, Christian will return to singles competition in return for a shot at Allen's title.
"The three of these degenerates have been running roughshod over CWB for quite some time. Patriot has battled valiantly but no man can do it alone. I'm planning on hitting them where it hurts and getting the Boston Heavyweight Title."
New Faces Come to Boston
In addition to the recent signing of Amo del Gato and Dragon del Arco Iris Jr to the CWB tag ranks, another big signing was recently completed. Second generation star Greg Gauge has come to terms on a PPA contract with CWB.
"I've done a lot of work in Japan," states Gauge, "but now it's time for me to start to make a name for myself here in the States. I think Boston is the perfect place to do so."
Gauge will debut at May's BEANTOWN RUMBLE event in a match with "Trademark" Thomas Morgan and most believe that, if successful in that match, he is a shoo-in for a spot in June's GENE PLUMELLI MEMORIAL CUP TOURNAMENT.

HAIR vs MASK: Ash Campbell vs. The Masked Patriot
The Patriot unmasks.
BOSTON Hvwt. TITLE: Primus Allen (c) vs. Jesse "Power" Christian
I'm a big fan of Christian but Primus is on a roll and Christian is getting up there in age. You've out the belt on him before, though, and because of his age this might be the last chance for him to have a run where he can deliver as far as match ratings go. But yeah, Primus is probably a more likely choice.
GRUDGE MATCH: Stevie Grayson vs. Cpl. Brady Prince (w/ Sgt. Bubba Lee West)
The re-vamped Prince is up for a push... maybe...
BOSTON TAG TITLES: The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) vs. Du-Rod
The change in tag partners for the champs will cause miss-communication leading to a year-long Du-Rod reign. I'm sure of it.
Greg Gauge vs. Riley McManus
Gauge is leagues better than McManus, quite frankly.
DARK MATCH: Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Antonio
The sarge is entirely too intense and sadistic for Antonio to handle.
Somehow I'd managed to miss the newsletter post, but I'm still reading as well.

HAIR vs MASK: Ash Campbell vs. The Masked Patriot
One of the easier picks - although it does mean having to put up with Smith's ugly on the posters :(
BOSTON Hvwt. TITLE: Primus Allen (c) vs. Jesse "Power" Christian
Have rub, will give - Allen actually puts me in mind of what JC must have been like, back in the day
GRUDGE MATCH: Stevie Grayson vs. Cpl. Brady Prince (w/ Sgt. Bubba Lee West)
Grayson is a flake - hard to get behind him when the Corp seems to be on a roll
BOSTON TAG TITLES: The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) vs. Du-Rod
Just to annoy Kristen
Greg Gauge vs. Riley McManus
Wasn't this meant to be Thomas Morgan's spot?
DARK MATCH: Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Antonio
Throw the guy a bone :p

HAIR vs MASK: Ash Campbell vs. The Masked Patriot
- By DQ most likley. As Ash flees to save from having his hair cut. Patriot earns the win, but Ash keeps his hair... for now.
BOSTON Hvwt. TITLE: Primus Allen (c) vs. Jesse "Power" Christian
- Primus looks more like a Monster by going over 'tha Powah' also if he looses he looks weak losing to a retired colour commentator. Allen needs this MUCH more than Christian.
GRUDGE MATCH: Stevie Grayson vs. Cpl. Brady Prince (w/ Sgt. Bubba Lee West)
- Prince's Tough Army Love contiues.
BOSTON TAG TITLES: The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) vs. Du-Rod
- I think the switch-up allows the Pearce Foundation to sneak out a bit longer reign. Or Warren Technique immediately becomes the 'Terry Taylor as Red Rooster' of the Foundation. And yes, I could have said 'Taylor Made Man' but... damn Taylor has some LAME gimmicks.
Greg Gauge vs. Riley McManus
- I know Gauge, I have no idea who McManus is.
DARK MATCH: Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Antonio

BEANTOWN RUMBLE
Saturday Week 4, May 2009
65 fans at Biker's Paradise in Boston, MA
Dark Match: Sgt. Bubba Lee West d. Antonio in 10:01
When there are 65 people in the audience, can there really be a "dark match"? Especially since only the highlights of the show are shown on the web? But I digress... West beat the living hell out of little Antonio and wins with the Recon Wrench. D-
Greg Gauge d. Riley McManus in 6:02
This was originally going to be Thomas Morgan but as always, "card subject to change". I felt Riley was a better first opponent for reasons you'll see after the match. Gauge is awesome. Being able to carry a green rookie like McManus to a D- match is something indeed. Gauge, having spent some time already in Japan, wrestles a clean, strong style. He wins with the Proton Lock. D-
After the match, Gauge helps McManus to his feet and to the surprise of everyone....shows sportsmanship and shakes his hand! F+
Sgt. Bubba Lee West leads Cpl. Brady Prince to the ring: "Stevie Grayson, you should have just left well enough alone, boy, and stayed out of Boston. We put a military hurtin' on you and you just don't learn. You are lazy and undisciplined, like Prince here was before he came to me for help and guidance. We're too much for you and you need to back off!" E+
Stevie Grayson d. Cpl. Brady Prince (w/ Sgt. West) by DQ in 11:32 when West interferes
One of the better matches of the night as Grayson came out aggressive and with something to prove. Prince grounded him after the initial onslaught and tried to get Grayson's weakened neck into the Crossface. Grayson fought out of the submission and surprised Prince with a spinning wheel kick that almost took the Cpl.'s head off. Grayson looked to score the pin but West jumped in the ring and proceeded to beat him down, earning the DQ. D
The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristin Pearce) went to a 20 min. time limit draw with Du-Rod; Pearce Foundation retains the Boston Tag Team Titles
I was a little worried that Warren wouldn't be a good replacement for DWN but he kept up just fine and this match was good. Very basic and nothing too elaborate as to let Technique and Jameson gel a bit and establish them as a legit team. D-
Jesse Christian: "When I was first contacted by Mr. Hartigan to be color commentator for Championship Wrestling from Boston, I was excited. I hadn't been in wrestling for awhile and the style in CWB was right up my alley. It didn't take long, though, for bullies and cowards like Peverell, Campbell and you Primus Allen, to make their presence known. Anyone wo knows anything about me knows I can't abide that kind of behavior. I'm going to take that Boston Title tonight and give it back to these people so they can have a champion to be proud of once again!" E+
Primus Allen d. Jesse Christian after referee stoppage at 16:21 to retain the Boston Heavyeight Championship
There was debate whether to headline with this match or Ash-TMP but with the storyline of the latter and the importance of hair vs. mask, this was put on as the semi-main. Especially, considering the finish. An open brawl right from the get go. Both men tore into each other. Once it spilled to the outside, Allen used Christian's head as a battering ram into the ringpost, opening a huge gash on Jesse. This came into play with the finish as Chad Brent was torn with stopping the match and Christian's blood loss finally forced his hand. D
Ash Campbell: "Oh man, did you see that beating that Allen laid on your buddy Patriot? Beat him within an inch of his life. No matter how brutal that was, it's nothing compared to what I'm going to do to you. I don't mean brutality in the ring, though. I mean brutality in the final humilation...the final nail in the Masked Patriot's coffin. Maybe I'll just small package you right from the start and get a quick 1-2-3...I just need to win this match! Then I get to rip that mask off your head and show the world your ugly mug. This is the greatest day of my life!" D
The Masked Patriot d. Ash Campbell in 18:27; per stipulations Ash is shaved bald!
Campbell came to the ring with Peverell at his side. The match started pretty cautiously as neither man wanted to make a critical mistake with so much on the line. Good action until Peverell hit the Dream Left Hook on Patriot as Ash tried to distract the referee. To no avail as Brent caught it and banished Peverell from the ringside area. Patriot didn't want the win on DQ. The battle raged on until Patriot hit his Backdrop Driver and scored the pinfall on Ash! D
The small crowd cheered as referee Chad Brent takes the microphone: "As a side note, if anyone interferes they will be fired from CWB and if Primus Allen interferes he will be stripped of the Boston Title!!"
Ash comes to and realizes what's going on as TMP, Duberry Excess, Rod Remus, Riley McManus and Greg Gauge are all standing around him. Campbell freaks out and tries to escape but is restrained by the other wrestlers.
Patriot holds the clippers up the crowd and relishes each shear. It takes about 10 minutes as he shaves Campbell's head resulting in.....
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r219/jkeats/Ash_bald.jpg
Overall Show: D-
Notes: Definitely our best show, top to bottom, yet. Greg Gauge is a stud and should shoot to the main events quickly. The main event accomplished two things...1) that all stipulations in CWB will be followed and the fans won't be cheated and 2) Masked Patriot putting his mask on the line may become a theme and it doesn't mean he's going to lose it ;)
Next month, the Gene Plumelli Cup!

GENE PLUMELLI CUP BRACKETS ANNOUNCED!!
The biggest event in Boston wrestling will take place at Biker's Paradise on June 27, 2009...it's the 2nd annual Gene Plumelli Memorial Cup Tournament.
Last year's event was a rousing success as four top competitors battled over not only the prestigious tournament cup trophy but also the Boston Heavyweight Title. This year, the field has been upped to eight wrestlers and the winner would have to be considered the number one contender to whomever is holding the Boston Title.
Word of the tournament has travelled around the wrestling world and CWB officials are pleased to announce that two wrestlers from other territories will be competing. FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling's Matt Hocking and CZCW's Jerimiah Moose have signed on to take part in the tournament.
The brackets have been announced and the first round looks like this:
Greg Gauge vs. "Trademark" Thomas Morgan
Bradford Peverell vs. Matt Hocking
Stevie Grayson vs. Air Attack Weasel
Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Jerimiah Moose
The Pearce Foundation is also scheduled to defend their Boston Tag Titles against Los Luchas (Drago del Arco Iris & Amo del Gato) and there will be a special interview with The Masked Patriot after his emotional win over and shaving of Ash Campbell at Beantown Rumble.
All this for only $4.00!! You can't afford to miss it!

What can I say? I diggeth La Peverell
Stevie Grayson vs. Air Attack Weasel
Grayson's decent enough, but just take a look at Weasel's third row and tell he he isn't better
Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Jerimiah Moose
A couple of upsets make for a good tournament, plus Moose deserves better than he often gets

I don't know... I like Los Luchas.
Greg Gauge vs. "Trademark" Thomas Morgan
As big of a fan of Morgan that I am I just can't see him taking a win over someone like Gauge, who is likely to be the MVP of the tournament.
Bradford Peverell vs. Matt Hocking
Left hook will have Hocking going down in a heap.
Stevie Grayson vs. Air Attack Weasel
I like Weasel + Grayson is so damn bland = I hope Weasel wins.
Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Jerimiah Moose
I'm a big fan of the Psychotic Psarge. Moose might get a surprise win, being an outsider and everything, but I kind of chose Weasel for the "outsider who doesn't immidiately lose"-role. :p
I see a Gauge vs. West final with Gauge taking home the cup.

Thanks man! One of the complaints I got in the last one that there was so much stuff to slog through it made it tough for new readers. So I decided to give it a little slower start. Plus my computer died on me and was out of commission for a bit and I got really busy in my professional life.

Pearce Foundation defeats Los Luchas Locos due to cheating and excessive highspottery!
Greg Gauge vs. "Trademark" Thomas Morgan - since Gauge seems way too good to lose in the first round. Enjoy him while you've got him.
Bradford Peverell vs. Matt Hocking - because Tigerkinney has convinced me that Hocking is a jobber to the island boys and this is the continent of North America. Maybe if this was Championship Wrestling from Brisbane I might change my tune.
Stevie Grayson vs. Air Attack Weasel - He's a Weasel... who attacks... from the air! He's unstoppable!
Sgt. Bubba Lee West vs. Jerimiah Moose - The tough n' gruff dishonorably discharged war hero wins this easily.
Overall I think it will come down to Gauge/West with West stealing the win... honorably I'm sure! Because Gauge is always one call away from a larger promotion, be it in the US, Canada or Japan.

THE GENE PLUMELLI MEMORIAL CUP 2009
Saturday Week 4, June 2009
57 fans at Bikers Paradise in Boston, MA
check out show highlights at www.cwb.com (http://breakingtheice.johnkeating.biz)
Dark Match: Ash Campbell d. Ben Williams in 4:01
Squashy McSquashMatch. The fans got into chanting "BALDY" at Campbell (who wore a do-rag the entire match).
Andy Hartigan welcomes the fans and also his guest color commentator for the show, Ash Campbell.
Ash: "You're lucky I don't bring a lawsuit on you and this whole company, Hartigan! After the humiliation you put me through last month and now you're showing it on your website?! I'm here to make sure the truth is told and your lies and conspiracies are stopped!" D-
Bradford Peverell d. Matt Hocking in 7:39 to advance to the semifinals
Might be the "worst" match of the night but it was still a good solid match. Peverell did his usual work the crowd schtick and wins with the Dream Left Hook. Hocking looked solid and is someone we are contemplating bringing in for a run. D-
Greg Gauge d. Thomas Morgan in 7:48 to advance to the semifinals
One of the best matches of the year. Gauge went to shake hands with Morgan prior to the match but was shrugged off. A technical clinic as Mrogan and Gauge exchanged holds and counter holds to the delight of the crowd. Gauge wins clean with his Proton Lock. D+
Andy Hartigan calls over Greg to catch a quick word:
Hartigan: "Greg, that was an amazing win. We've noticed you have a habit of shaking your opponent's hand before the match."
Gauge: "Most of my training is from Japan where the sport is honorable. I'm not used to a lot of the roughhouse style that I've seen here but I'll adapt. It doesn't mean I can't still carry myself in an honorable and dignified way, though." D
Sgt Bubba Lee West d. Jerimiah Moose in 7:41 to advance to the semifinals
Decent match. The crowd didn't know much about Moose but really hates West. West came out guns-a-blazin' and Moose took it to him with a nice aerial assault. Moose misses a moonsault and West nails a kneedrop from the second rope for the win. D-
Stevie Grayson d. Air Attack Weasel in 11:37 to advance to the semifinals
This match was a little disappointing as I was hoping for more from these two high-fliers. There was some sloppy execution early on but Grayson ends up winning with a reverse bodyblock. D-
As Grayson celebrates, Sgt West and Cpl. Prince charge the ring and beat him down. He holds his own at first but is overwhelmed and beaten down. Prince locks on the Crossface as West stomps away opening a cut on Grayson's forehead. E
Greg Gauge d. Bradford Peverell in 12:55 to advance to the finals
Another contender for match of the year. Peverell offered his handshake first and then mocked Gauge by pulling it away. Not a good idea as he received a stiff forearm shot to the chops as a thank you. Gauge has it all over Peverell on technical wrestling so "the Degenerate" had to get a little rough with a low blow to gain control. Peverell went for the Dream Left Hook but Gauge ducked and nails his Shotgun Blast (Stunner) for the win. D+
Sgt. Bubba Lee West comes to the ring: "Grayson, how's that little boo boo on your head son? You think you're going to come in and beat me in this tournament? Think you're gonna face me here in the semifinals and I wasn't gonna have anything to say about it? It'll be over my dead body the day someone like you beats a Bubba Lee West!!" D-
Sgt. Bubba Lee West (w/ Cpl. Brady Prince) d. Stevie Grayson in 11:31 to advance to the finals
Another excellent match as a bandaged Grayson charges the ring. Emotions got the better of him though as he fought West's fight...an all out brawl. These two tore into each other until West re-opened the cut on Grayson. Stevie fought the good fight but loss of blood combined with the all out beating took it's toll and West wins with the Recon Wrench. D+
Kristen Pearce leads Warren Technique and Kirk Jameson to the ring: "I just have one thing to say and that is this...The Pearce Foundation are officially through with the team of Rod Remus and Duberry Excess. We have beaten them all over this pit of a state and there's nothing left for us to prove. I have my lawyers working on an injunction against them and believe you me, they will not be receiving any tag title shots as long as I have something to do with it." E
The Pearce Foundation and Los Luchas fight to a double DQ after Du-Rod interferes; The Pearce Foundation retains the Boston Tag Titles
Gato and Dragon del Arco Iris work amazingly together. Once they get some psychology and experience under their belt they could evolve into one of the greatest teams ever. Technique and Jameson are doing nicely as a team and this was a strong tag team encounter. Du-Rod charge the ring and get involved leaving referee Chad Brent no choice but to throw the match out. D-
Andy Hartigan introduces The Masked Patriot. Campbell, disgusted, leaves the announce table as the crowd taunts him: "Thank you very much for that reception. I see Cueball Campbell put his tail between his legs and took off but that's all fine and good. I'm here to make a challenge. I feel like I got a little bit of my dignity, a little bit of my pride back last month by shaving him bald...but I'm not done yet. I need to prove to myself that I can beat Primus Allen and regain my Boston Heavyweight Title. I need to know. Now, I'm sure Allen doesn't want to face me again...so let me sweeten the pot. Once again, I will put my mask on the line...this time for a shot at the Boston Title. If I lose, I'll unmask...I think that's an offer too good to pass up." D-
Greg Gauge d. Sgt. Bubba Lee West in 20:16 to win the Plumelli Cup
A strong match but I think they might have left a little on the table from the earlier outstanding matches. This was definitely a very good match though as Chad Brent sent Cpl. Prince back to the locker room early on to avoid interference. Great back and forth action with West getting a lot of heat on Gauge and getting some color. Gauge fights back and wins the match with a La Magistral Cradle to win the tournament. D
Overall Show: D-
Notes: I was thrilled with the match quality in the tournament but really disappointed with the turnout. I thought this might put us close to 100 people.
Gauge, playing honorable fighter, is really getting over and now has to be considered the #1 contender facing the winner of TMP-Allen: Title vs. Mask.

BOSTON TITLE; MASK vs TITLE: Primus Allen (c) vs. The Masked Patriot
Ash Campbell vs. Jesse Christian
Thomas Morgan vs. Greg Gauge
SIX MAN TAG MATCH! Du-Rod/Stevie Grayson vs. The Corps/Kirk Jameson
Air Attack Weasel vs. Riley McManus
In all cases backing the superior worker - except in the main where I went with the guy with the most to lose from losing the match. Allen needs to win to stand out from Ash's shadow and make a stand as his own man.

We open the show with Andy Hartigan welcoming Duberry Excess to the ring:
Andy: "Du, last month Kristen Pearce made a bold statement and said that the Pearce Foundation would not defend the titles against yourself and Rod Remus, that they have already proved themselves countless times."
Du: "Yeah I know, so I had an idea. I have hear a contract for myself and a partner to face the Pearce Foundation for the titles. I just want to get back into the ring with them again and I don't care who my partner is...that's why, I'm letting Kristen Pearce PICK my partner. She can sign his name, whomever she picks and we'll get a title shot. Easy as that" E-
Air Attack Weasel d. Riley McManus in 7:30
There's been a groundswell of support on the internet for the "coolest name in wrestling" and AAW picks up a strong win over rookie McManus here tonight. Riley got a little offense in but it was mostly all Weasel taking this one. E+
Kristen Pearce comes to ringside: "Mr. Hartigan, let me see that contract please. Thank you. Now, usually I would have my lawyers go over this with a fine toothed comb, but I feel this is too good of an offer to pass up. I accept the challenge and have the perfect partner in mind for you, Mr. Excess. That partner would be the formidable and talented Ben Williams!!" E
She fills out his name and signs the contract sealing the deal, handing it back to Hartigan.
Andy: "Thank you, Ms. Pearce and it looks like we have a signed match for next month...The Pearce Foundation vs. Duberry Excess and Ben Williams...oh wait, what's this? There's a clause here that CWB regulates the naming of an official of this match...that official being ROD REMUS!" E
Pearce flips out! "This is an outrage! An obvious conspiracy to harm my team's market value!"
Andy: "No, Ms. Pearce, I just don't think it's fair to let the champions dictate policy. Now you have a match to get ready for." E
Stevie Grayson, Rod Remus & Duberry Excess d. Sgt Bubba Lee West, Cpl. Prince & Kirk Jameson in 15:23 when Grayson pinned West
Solid action with barley a moment's rest. A livid Jameson started out and tore into Duberry Excess during the ring intros. Solid back and forth action spotlighting the two feuds and Grayson takes the win when West whips him into the corner and he rebounds with a moonsault bodyblock. D
Ash Campbell d. Jesse Christian in 17:01 after outside interference from Bradford Peverell
Christian is STILL rusty after his hiatus and I'm hoping that will wear off soon. He's still putting in decent performances though, especially for a company at this level. Ash took a lot of bumps to get over Christian as a powerhouse. Peverell made his way to ringside at around the 15 minute mark and nailed Christian with a Dream Left Hook to KO him for Ash to pin. D-
Greg Gauge d. Thomas "Trademark" Morgan in 10:23
A rematch from the Plumelli Cup and these two had the same high quality match. This was something to give Gauge another match as he awaits his Boston title shot against the winner of the main event. Gauge offered a handshake to Morgan, which was refused. Great technical wrestling with Gauge winning with his dreaded Proton Lock. D+
Ash Campbell is leading Primus Allen to the ring for the main event but Allen stops and sends Campbell back to the dressing room, saying he doesn't want his help. D-
The Masked Patriot: "Allen, you and Campbell have put me through hell this last year. You took my belt, beat me down, tried to unmask me and make me look weak in the eyes of the Boston fans. Tonight it all comes down to this. Either I win back my title or I unmask you finally win this war. It's true I've never beaten you before but tonight I'm a man with everything to lose" E+
The Masked Patriot d. Primus Allen in 16:12 after botched interference from Ash Campell; Patriot regains the Boston Hvyt. Title
These two have been noted not to have good chemistry against each other but they still managed a great match, one of the best of the year. It was raw emotion as Patriot battled from underneath, trying to beat the one man he's never pinned. The finish saw Ash make his way back to ringside and try to interfere. Primus screamed at him and this momentary distraction was enough for Patriot to slide in behind and nail the Backdrop Driver for the 1-2-3! D+
Patriot celebrates into the crowd and even downs one of the locals beers!
Overall Show: D
Notes: Patriot regaining the title will hopefully pop things a bit. Primus wasn't really going anywhere as champion and there wasn't a ton left to do with him as he didn't really have the experience to carry the company and have main event matches with anyone. The friction between he and Ash should be interesting to develop.

That put one over the internet marks ;)
Have to include myself in that list, especially as i know you like your long title reigns. Can see the logic behind it though mate.
Great show as always :)

Well I had planned that for awhile but a little surprise doesn't hurt! I had wanted to tear down Patriot and then build him back up again, have him go through some tough times.
I'm looking forward to the Gauge-Patriot "Battle of Respect" for the title next month :)

BOSTON HVYWT. TITLE: The Masked Patriot (c) v. Greg Gauge - Although I'd pull the swerve, I don't see Patriot dropping the belt just yet. However, if you're planning on going with this where I think you're going with this... *rubs hands in anticipation*
BOOT CAMP MATCH! Sgt. Bubba Lee West v. Stevie Grayson - Never voting for Grayson again in any diary. And I mark for BLW :p
Bradford Peverell v. Jesse Christian - One guy has a future, one guy doesn't
BOSTON TAG TEAM TITLES: Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) v. Duberry Excess & Ben Williams; Rod Remus is Special Guest Referee - Gotta say it, this seems like swerve country to me
"Trademark" Thomas Morgan v. Riley McManus - You like McManus a lot, it seems

BOSTON HVYWT. TITLE: The Masked Patriot (c) v. Greg Gauge
I'm gonna say this one is a draw for storyline purposes.
BOOT CAMP MATCH! Sgt. Bubba Lee West v. Stevie Grayson
Grayson can't beat the Sarge in his own match!
Bradford Peverell v. Jesse Christian
Hans of STONE, baby~! STONE, I say! What I'm getting at is; it will hurt a lot, when he punches Christian in the mouth.
BOSTON TAG TEAM TITLES: Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) v. Duberry Excess & Ben Williams; Rod Remus is Special Guest Referee
I choose to believe in the goodness of Rod Remus, but chances are that I'll regret it.
"Trademark" Thomas Morgan v. Riley McManus
The Trademark isn't what he used to be in '07 and as such he isn't winning this one...

THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES
Saturday Week 4, August 2009

Thomas Morgan d. Riley McManus in 8:21
Good action, nothing to write home about. Morgan needed a win to keep some sort of momentum if his team with AAW is going to do anything. I'd like to have them challenge for the tag titles at some point. E+
Andy Hartigan: "We had the Boston Tag Team Title match scheduled for next but as far as I know, special referee Rod Remus has not appeared at the building yet. I know he's in town and apparently he called citing car trouble but that's all we know." E+
Duberry Excess comes to ringside and pleads with Hartigan for more time: "Mr. Hartigan I know it's asking a lot but I trust Rod Remus and he gave me his word he'd be here. We just have to hold off the match for a bit until he gets here." E+
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," interrupts Kristen Pearce, "How many concessions do we have to make for Mr. Excess here. If the person he hand picked as special referee is having car problems, that's not our problem. We signed for this match and the match is supposed to take place now...unless Mr. Excess is too afraid to get going without his biased officiating, we need to do this match NOW! Or else I might have to file a formal complaint against what I see as a bias on the part of Championship Wrestling from Boston and it's employees!"
Hartigan: "As much as it pains me, Duberry, she has a point. Unfortunately, we're going to need to get this match underway as we have a whole show to get to. We'll need Chad Brent down here and we'll have to start the match." E
The Pearce Foundation (w/ Kristen Pearce) d. Duberry Excess & Ben Willaims in 8:01 to retain the Boston Tag Team Titles
The Du started the match off and got the upper hand early on but was double teamed and beaten down. He makes the hot tag to Ben Williams who immediately gets the snot beaten out of him and falls victim to a vicious Bullseye by Jameson to end the match. Pearce is as smug as can be.E+
Sgt. Bubba Lee West d. Stevie Grayson in a Boot Camp Match in 17:02
Just a brutal brawl right from the opening bell. Cpl. Prince was not allowed at ringside but it didn't look like West needed him. West took the upperhand and opened up a gusher on Grayson. Stevie fought back and even busted West open with a chairshot. The finish came with Grayson making a last ditch desperation move and missing a plancha on West. The Sgt. rolled him back in the ring and used the Recon Wrench for the win. D-
As the ring is being cleared, Rod Remus comes through the crowd dressed in street clothes. He approaches Andy Hartigan at ringside:
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry...I had some car trouble but I'm here now. Let me get changed into my ref's shirt and lets get this match going!"
Hartigan: "Rod, I'm sorry but you missed your chance. We had to hold the match already. I understand you had some car problems but we couldn't appear to be biased towards one team or the other so we had to hold the match as scheduled."
Duberry Excess comes to ringside to explain things to his partner.
Remus: "That's BS! I'm here, lets do this!"
Kristen Pearce comes to ringside with her team to the groans of the audience.
Pearce: "Mr. Remus, I'm sure it took you quite a while to fix four flat tires on your car but that's really no concern---"
Remus: "What did you say? What did you just say about the flat tires?"
Pearce: "What? You had four flat tires, you just said so yourself--"
Remus: "I said I had car problems but I never said NOTHING about any flat tires, let alone four! Why you sunova---" E+
Pearce is terrified and high tails it to the back as The Pearce Foundation and Du-Rod brawl until security can pull them apart. E
Jesse Christian d. Bradford Peverell by DQ when Ash Campbell interferes in 16:37
Good brawling style match with decent psychology. Christian is still rusty so it's taking some time for that to wear off. It would be nice if he'd, oh I don't know, maybe work out between shows. The minute Christian got the upper hand on Peverell, Campbell charges to ringside and does a run in with the two heels beating down Jesse and leaving him laying. It's clear he can't battle them on his own. D
The Masked Patriot d. Greg Gauge to retain the Boston Title in 19:21
A handshake starts off the match and we get an amazing display of mat wrestling and puroreso strong style wrestling. During a lockup, Gauge fell out of the ring. Patriot held the ropes for him to come back. We almost see tempers flare during one spot in the turnbuckle but cooler heads prevailed and no punches were thrown. The finish was Gauge hitting a German Suplex on Patriot and both men's shoulders were pinned down. As the ref counted, TMP lifts his shoulder at the last second and sneaks out the win. D+
A great match but Gauge looks visibly frustrated once he finds out what happened. Patriot approaches and extends his hand...there is a moment of tension and then Gauge shakes it as the crowd chants "One More Match!" E+
Overall Show: D
Notes: Hey! We broke the 100 fan barrier! :)
For anyone wondering, the Du-Rod and Pearce Foundation angle is an homage to one of my favorite storylines/angles ever. It took place in Georgia between the Freebirds and Austin Idol/Kevin Sullivan and you can read about it here (http://kayfabememories.com/Regions/gcw/gcw2.htm). This is the first of many homages to old school storylines I'll be running with the diary. I hope you're enjoying it!
Definitely not a decisive win for Patriot over Gauge but a win nonetheless. With such a great matchup I feel pretty confident we may see a rematch :)

MASKED PATRIOT-GAUGE II SIGNED FOR WICKED PISSAH
After a somewhat controversial finish to the Boston Heavyweight Title match at THE WHITES OF THEIR EYES, CWB officials have declared that there will be a rematch between current champion Masked Patriot and challenger Greg Gauge.
"I actually went to the officials after the match," said Patriot, "and asked them for this. Greg Gauge is a fantastic, honorable competitor and he deserves a fair shake."
The finish in question was during a German Suplex attempt by Gauge, he ended up pinning his own shoulders to the mat. As the referee's hand counted three, Patriot lifted his shoulder briefly.
Greg Gauge, on tour with the INPSIRE group on Japan had this to say: "I'm really pleased to hear this decision. I felt that I was in an aggressive move and bearing that, my shoulders should not have been counted down. I'm looking forward to returning to Boston and having the rematch."
It was reported that Gauge injured his right hand during the Japanese tour but he will still be able to make the scheduled title rematch.
PRIMUS ALLEN RETURNS
After taking a few months off from competition in Boston, former Boston Heavyweight Champion Primus Allen will be returning at the behest of his "player coach" Ash Campbell in the latter's war with Jesse Christian.
