UFC ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT
UNDER CARD
SHANE CARWIN (9-0) VS CHASE GOMEY ( 6-0)
Round 1
Carwin starts off brightly, firing in a couple of right hands and a fizzing kick that catches Gormley across the hip. Gormley tries an immediate response by coming in for a big left hook, but is forced to back up by a lightning-like head kick that flashes across his face. Carwin storms in and hits a crisp jab and a snap right hand, then ducks out of the way of a counter punch. Gormley comes forward, and again takes a kick across the hip, then a second one that slaps across the shin of his front foot. Carwin's kicks are allowing him to control this round, Gormley has so far had no answer. They meet in the center; Carwin comes in from low-down, but misses a right hand. Gormley scores with a right hand to the side of the head, then a stinging right hand to the ribs. Carwin shoots off a kick to the ribs, then comes back in from an angle. A faked takedown fools Gormley, and another kick hits home. Gormley clinches up, and must be wondering what on earth he can do to stop these kicks from taking him apart. Time runs down as they engage in a struggle while in the clinch, and the round ends without any further noteworthy action. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Carwin.
Round 2
There is some tentative circling to begin with, before they meet in the center for the first action of the round. It's a tight affair, both fighters heavily using the jab, but Carwin looks to get the better of it, landing with one crisp strike to the face in particular. Gormley backs off, a little shaken. Replays show that it landed right on the nose. Carwin press the action, forcing Gormley back against the cage and upping the tempo with rapid-fire lefts and rights, bobbing and weaving at the same time to keep from getting caught with a counter punch. Gormley clinches up. Carwin is displaying a much more accomplished and confident striking game than Gormley, the technique and speed with which the punches are being delivered is leaving Gormley looking ragged in comparison. The pattern continues once they've been separated, with Carwin looking the sharper of the two. He isn't overwhelming Gormley by any means, but he is comfortably controlling the pace and tempo of the round, and preventing Gormley from stamping any sort of mark on it. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Carwin by 10-9.
Round 3
Fast start by Carwin, who has thrown three crisp jabs in the first twenty seconds, although none of them got past the gloves. Gormley circles, drawing a lunge from Carwin, allowing him to score with a nice low kick to the front leg. Carwin ignores that and darts in for a takedown, but only ends up holding one leg, Gormley hopping on the other to remain vertical. Carwin tries to push forward to complete the takedown, but Gormley manages to pull them all the way back to the cage before ultimately going down. That's a much better position to be in though, he has his corner right there, and can use the cage to effectively cut off any form of attack to the left hand side of his body. Carwin has one leg trapped between Gormley's, and is struggling to get it free. He throws a couple of punches, none of them doing much damage, and then tries to work on one of the arms. It might be a kimura that he looking for. Gormley defends it well, without fully escaping it, Carwin can't really do a lot with it due to how much he is having to stretch to apply it, due to his leg being trapped. Gormley suddenly releases the leg and scrambles up, looking to take Carwin's back. Carwin was ready for it though, and blocks it by pinning a half-standing Gormley up against the cage. It's a precarious position for both fighters. Gormley throws a couple of short-range punches. Carwin gets a leg in and trips Gormley, putting him back on the ground, albeit this time in full guard. It was a nice escape attempt from Gormley, at least he can take heart from the fact that it resulted in a better defensive position. Time is running out, it looks like this round will end with them in this position. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Carwin. All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Shane Carwin.
- ** Don't mind the results the winner is undefeated and will start his rise to in the Heavtweight division.
BRANDON VERA (8-2) VS RYAN BADER (7-0)
Round 1
Vera and Bader circle to start. Bader throws a couple of looping punches, neither hitting, while Vera sits back, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Bader comes in closer, looking to unload with a right hand; that misses, and it allows Vera to slip a nice jab in, catching Bader just underneath the right eye. Vera comes in and scores with a straight left, then bounces a right hand off the body. Bader misses with a right cross, then backs off. Vera stalks him, forcing Bader back up against the cage. Vera doesn't rush in, instead standing back and throwing the occasional punch. Bader throws a big left hand in response, but it misses by quite a margin. Vera pounces, hitting lefts and rights. Bader covers up from the first two punches, then clinches up to prevent any more coming in. They're up against the cage, Vera in the dominant position. They remain that way as the time ticks down. Vera throws the occasional knee, but can't really do much with his arms tied up like that. The referee finally tells them to break, and they return to the center. That clinch ate up a lot of time though. Bader comes in hard and fast, bobbing and weaving, and throws a couple of big shots. Vera parries them with his gloves and scores with a well-executed counter punch, hitting just above the eye. They come in close again, throwing punches, but wind up clinched again. The time expires with them like that, and that round will definitely go down in Vera's favour. End of round 1. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Vera.
Round 2
Bader starts out with a few straight rights, range-finding rather than actually dangerous. Vera keeps out of their way. Bader steps forward and tries to unload with a looping left, but Vera moves to the side and fires off a powerful right hand of his own, landing above the left eye. Bader doesn't go down, but definitely felt that shot. Vera moves in closer and fires off two punches to the face and a big hook to the body. Bader parried the first two, but the third hit home hard. Vera begins to stalk Bader, who may be slightly winded. They meet again in the center and exchange blows. Bader hits a high jab but gets caught with another hard punch to the side of the head. Bader clinches up, stopping Vera from following up. It looks like Bader needs to change his game plan, standing up and banging with Vera is playing right into his opponent's hands, as Vera clearly has the more powerful strikes in his arsenal, and Bader is going to get floored sooner or later, judging by this round. The referee parts them from the clinch. Vera continues to look ready to unleash some big punches. Bader takes a takedown, then comes in much closer, throws a jab, and clinches back up. Bader looks like he is going to grapple, stopping Vera from throwing bombs. Bader gets in a few short punches to the ribs. The round ends with them still in the clinch. Vera will take that round on points, having used the threat of a knock out to basically control everything about that round except the clinches. The 2nd round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Vera.
Round 3
Vera starts fast, immediately going on the attack with jabs and straight rights. Bader covers up from the initial burst, then starts throwing some raking rights and lefts. Vera bobs and weaves out of harm's way, countering by flicking off jabs whenever possible, peppering Bader with strikes. None of them are likely to knock Bader down, but they will add up over time. Bader moves in and tries to back Vera up against the cage, but he is too quick, and won't allow himself to get caught. Bader is having a real problem with Vera's movement, which is allowing him to dart in and out almost at will, hitting quick jabs and avoiding any counters. There's another example, as Vera scores with a sharp left hand to the chest, and is gone before the big right hand of Bader hits. Bader looks frustrated, and switches tactics, no longer looking for the big punches but trying to stop Vera getting in close by using low kicks and long, raking punches. Vera is kept from doing any further damage, but Bader isn't generating any offence either. Vera comes in from an angle, takes a right hand, but scores with a flurry of his own. Bader tries to hit a low kick, but misses. Time is running down, Vera is going to take this round on points, he has been able to dominate it thanks to his superior movement. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Vera. The official scores are in; two judges give 30-27, the other 29-28, all for Brandon Vera.
-** I like Vera so a win here is great.
ANOTHONY JOHNSON (5-1) VS BEN SAUNDERS (5-0-2)
Round 1
Saunders starts strongly, hitting two stiff jabs to the gloves, stinging the hands of Johnson. The third strike is a meaty left hook that narrowly misses. If that had hit, Johnson may well have been decapitated. Despite leaning backwards, Johnson throws a mighty kick that explodes across the chest, Saunders staggers back. That was an enormously powerful blow, and Saunders didn't see it coming at all. They circle for a moment, sizing each other up. Johnson throws a flurry of jabs, but Saunders blocks them easily. A right hand from Saunders lands below the eye, and a straight left glances off the shoulder. Another exchange doesn't see either fighter get an advantage. Saunders throws a heavy left, but Johnson goes underneath it. Another hard kick from Johnson, this time smashing into the left thigh. Saunders almost get knocked down. He throws a left hook in retaliation which misses by a mile, and gives Johnson the chance to hit another big kick, this time to the ribs. The round has been pretty even, with the exception of those kicks by Johnson which have really made a big difference. As the round comes to an end, it looks like those will make sure that Johnson wins the round on points. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Johnson by 10-9.
Round 2
Johnson and Saunders circle to start. Saunders throws a couple of looping punches, neither hitting, while Johnson sits back, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Saunders comes in closer, looking to unload with a right hand; that misses, and it allows Johnson to slip a nice jab in, catching Saunders just underneath the right eye. Johnson comes in and scores with a straight left, then bounces a right hand off the body. Saunders misses with a right cross, then backs off. Johnson stalks him, forcing Saunders back up against the cage. Johnson doesn't rush in, instead standing back and throwing the occasional punch. Saunders throws a big left hand in response, but it misses by quite a margin. Johnson pounces, hitting lefts and rights. Saunders covers up from the first two punches, then clinches up to prevent any more coming in. They're up against the cage, Johnson in the dominant position. They remain that way as the time ticks down. Johnson throws the occasional knee, but can't really do much with his arms tied up like that. The referee finally tells them to break, and they return to the center. That clinch ate up a lot of time though. Saunders comes in hard and fast, bobbing and weaving, and throws a couple of big shots. Johnson parries them with his gloves and scores with a well-executed counter punch, hitting just above the eye. They come in close again, throwing punches, but wind up clinched again. The time expires with them like that, and that round will definitely go down in Johnson's favour. End of round 2. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Johnson.
Round 3
The two fighters circle. Saunders flicks out a couple of jabs, then an unconventinal looping right hand. Johnson easily side-steps it, but trips and falls to the ground! He is up quickly, before Saunders could get in. Replays confirm that it was purely a stumble, the punch was well wide of the mark. Johnson moves in, ducks under a big right hand, and gets two crisp jabs in before getting smothered into a clinch. One of those jabs landed hard, Saunders is a little rattled. They struggle in the clinch, both throwing small punches to the back and ribs. The referee separates them. Saunders forces Johnson back up against the cage, and starts throwing jabs. He looks to be keeping Johnson in position, waiting to unload a big punch. Saunders does, lunging in with a huge right cross, but Johnson saw it coming and goes underneath it, scoring with a right hand to the gut on the way past. Saunders turns and tries to follow up immediately, but gets tagged with a wicked left hook that drops him to one knee. Saunders is up quickly, causing Johnson, who was about to dive in, to back off. Replays show that the punch connected, but Saunders was already going downward to duck the punch, so it wasn't as powerful as first thought. Saunders throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Johnson to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Johnson. All three judges give a score of 30-27 to Anthony Johnson.
-* Once again a win win situation, that is the theme tonight. I think it is bull**** that Johnson lostin real life by getting poked in the eye.
ANDRE GUSMAO (5-0) VS GORAN RELIC (8-0)
Round 1
Gusmao hits the first punch of the round, scoring with a jab to the cheek. Reljic throws a left hook in response, but it's well wide of the mark. Gusmao steps in and hits a low kick. Reljic ignores it and shoots in for a takedown. Gusmao saw it coming though, and defends it brilliantly, sprawling at first, then pushing Reljic face-down to the ground so that he can take his back. Reljic turtles up. Gusmao hits a couple of hard shots to the body, but can't stop Reljic working his way up and turning over, pulling guard. The fight falls into a lull as a pattern develops; Gusmao punctuating attempts to pass guard with some sharp punches to the body and face, while Reljic parries away any big blows and puts all of his effort into making sure Gusmao doesn't get a better position. Things heat up as Gusmao manages to break the guard and get through into a half mount. Reljic hits a nice clean right hand in response. Gusmao throws a couple of hard punches to the stomach. He has one leg trapped, and is trying to pull that free so that he can move further up the body and really start pounding away. Reljic knows that having the leg trapped is his key to not ending up in huge trouble, and so has it locked up tight. Gusmao tries a half-hearted attempt at a kimura, but Reljic defends it well. The round ends with Gusmao still unable to transition into side control, although he has landed enough shots to have lit up Reljic's upper body with red marks, and definitely won the round on points. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Gusmao.
Round 2
They start the round with an exchange of strikes, all from fairly long range as they circle and try to work angles. None of the blows did any damage, either missing or being straight into the opponent's gloves. Gusmao is the first to land a worthwhile blow, hitting a straight right that catches Reljic on the side of the cheek. Gusmao follows up by backing him up against the cage, throws a couple of big punches, but gets pulled into a clinch without doing any serious damage. Reljic goes for a trip and almost gets it, but Gusmao is able to regain his footing at the last moment. Reljic has Gusmao against the cage, and hits three right hands to the side of the ribs. Gusmao reaches down and picks up a leg, using that as leverage to topple Reljic, who pulls guard. Gusmao starts pounding away and does some damage before Reljic grapples and pulls him down into a clinch. Reljic has both of Gusmao's arms tied up, preventing much in the way of attacking action. Gusmao uses some shoulder shrugs to the face, but Reljic isn't going to be too bothered by that. Gusmao pulls one arm free. Reljic still has tight control of the other, and brings his legs up, trying to apply an armbar. Gusmao sees it coming and blocks it easily, getting in a couple of punches for good measure. Gusmao steps through the legs and forces Reljic to release the arm so that he can cover up against a series of strikes. Reljic manages to ensare one leg though, and so Gusmao has to make do with being in half guard instead of getting the full mount that he wanted. Gusmao hits a couple of punches, takes one back, then attempts to get side control. Reljic keeps him at bay. Time is ticking away, if Gusmao is going to use this position to finish the match, it had better be done soon. Gusmao pulls Reljic's left arm to one side and straightens it out, perhaps looking to turn it into an armbar. Reljic rolls over to stop the arm getting trapped. Gusmao continues to work for it though. Time expires though, the round is over. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Gusmao.
Round 3
Quick start to the round from Reljic, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Gusmao defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Gusmao connects. Reljic gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Reljic pushes Gusmao back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Gusmao blocks it. Gusmao suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Reljic down to the ground, into guard. Reljic has the guard held very high. Gusmao throws a big right hand, but almost puts himself right into a triangle as a result, and he is forced to fight free. Reljic throws a punch and it lands right above the nose. Gusmao throws four massive punches as a response, threatening to try and knock Reljic right through the canvas, Reljic is forced to simply cover up and try to survive. Gusmao is controlling the round from this position, although it has to be said that he hasn't yet truly looked like he can stop the match from here. Reljic moves to butterfly guard and then tries to scramble back up, but Gusmao stops that by throwing another set of big punches, forcing Reljic to go back to the full guard. The round ends with them still like that, with Gusmao having totally controlled the round from the guard. End of round 3. Blurcat.com gives that one to Gusmao by 10-9. The official scores are: 30-27 (twice), 29-28 for Andre Gusmao.
-* Hoping for Reljic to win but oh well.
CLAY GUIDA (23-9) VS ALVIN ROBINSON (9-3)
Round 1
Robinson starts fast, firing off several crisp jabs that keep Guida on the back foot. A solid left hits gloves, but it's really just a set-up for Robinson to step in and use an uppercut. Not sure how much of it caught Guida, but certainly enough to to make him grab a clinch to stop any further punishment. Great start to the round from Robinson, it has been total domination so far. The clinch is broken, and the two fighters exchange some long range jabs that are easily avoided. Guida is looking a little lost so far, Robinson is controlling this round by virtue of his crisp accurate punches and higher aggression levels. Robinson looks to be working an angle. Robinson leads with the left, then moves in and gets in a wicked right hand that grazes the cheek. Guida was fortunate there, if that had landed properly it would have been over. Guida comes back with a leg kick to set up a one-two combination, but the round is coming to a close and it's going to be too little too late. The one bright spot for Guida is that although Robinson clearly won the round, he didn't actually turn that dominance into any sort of real damage. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Robinson.
Round 2
Exchange of punches to start, nothing really hit though. They go into a clinch, and the pace disappears as both fighters try and get the advantage. Eventually the referee separates them. Jab from Robinson, who then has to react quickly to avoid a right hook that was aimed right at the chin. Robinson puts on a burst of energy and fires off a big sequence of punches, maybe twelve or thirteen in a row, although not many actually connected. Guida covered up well, and gets in a couple of shots of his own before moving out of range again. Other than a few half-hearted jabs, there's been a definite lull over the past minute. Low kick from Guida, almost to the groin, although it didn't look intentional. They come together in a clinch again, and it returns to a stalemate. Not a great round by anyone's standard, but that flurry should mean that Robinson will take the round on points. End of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Robinson.
Round 3
Guida is quickest out, and comes at Robinson with a series of jabs and straight punches. Robinson covered up well, and I don't think anything got through. Robinson hits a body shot, but it didn't connect solidly. They get in close, and it's Guida who takes it to the ground. Robinson pulls guard. There's a lull, as Guida tries to pass, and Robinson defends it. Punches get thrown every so often, but it's really a stalemate at the moment. Robinson almost gets a guillotine, but it's blocked and almost leads to a kimura for Guida, but that too goes nowhere. The referee stands them up, but the time is almost over. The third round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-8 for Guida. All three judges give a score of 29-27 to Alvin Robinson.
-** I am a Clay Guida fan but I think Alvin Robinson has more potential.
ALESSIO SAKARA (12-7) VS NATE LOUGHRAN (8-0)
Round 1
Loughran goes to the center, and immediately throws some jabs, looking to engage in a striking battle. Sakara doesn't commit though, instead circling and looking for an angle. Sakara comes in, ducks a right hand, then unleashes a flurry of punches. Loughran covers up at first, then throws a scathing right hand, but Sakara is already out of range. Sakara repeats the trick, working a new angle, darting in, then firing off strikes while keeping out of the way of any counter punches. It happens a third time, and Loughran is beginning to look frustrated. Sakara's footwork and general movement is looking good, Loughran is being made to look very slow and lumbering in comparison. Furthermore, Sakara is being able to launch multiple short bursts of offense without really being in any danger, Loughran has yet to hit any sort of meaningful punch, simply because Sakara is too quick. Loughran finally gets in close enough to grapple with Sakara, clinching up. Loughran scores a nice body punch, then steps back and goes for a vicious right hand, but Sakara bobs out of the way and hits a right hook of his own. Time is ticking away, and Loughran is well behind in this round, he needs to do something special. Loughran swings for the fences, but Sakara has no problem avoiding it. The round peters out. End of round 1. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Sakara.
Round 2
The fighters come together right in the center. Loughran throws out a jab, but Sakara bobs out of the way and uses a right hand to glance a blow off the side of the ribs in response. Sakara works an angle and storms in suddenly with three crisp jabs and a looping overhand punch, Loughran covered up quickly but at least one of the jabs hit home. Sakara is making Loughran look sluggish in comparison, such is the speed and crispness with which he is delivering strikes. Loughran hits a low kick before back-pedalling to avoid a clubbing blow. Loughran narrowly misses a right cross. They meet in the center to exchange a flurry of strikes that gets the crowd on their feet. Sakara got slightly the better of it, he definitely snuck through a right hand that rocked Loughran slightly. Loughran initiates a clinch, and the action grinds to a halt. Loughran looks out of ideas, he is being repeatedly lured into these exchange of strikes, but Sakara is clearly winning them. Loughran needs to find some way to deal with them. Not much time left in this round. The referee separates them. Sakara tries a speculative high kick, but Loughran saw it coming and was well out of range by the time it came. Loughran tries to work an angle, but Sakara is having none of it and fires off a straight right hand to keep him from stepping in. Comfortable round for Sakara, he will probably be disappointed not to have done more damage given his dominance of the striking in this round. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Sakara.
Round 3
Good start from Loughran, taking Sakara down almost immediately! Sakara scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Loughran will be disappointed with that. Sakara comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Loughran to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Sakara felt that one for sure. He stalks Loughran, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Loughran keeps out of the way. Sakara tries a kick, but Loughran catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Loughran gets Sakara down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Loughran throws some punches, then tries to pass. Sakara doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Loughran easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Loughran followed by a pass attempt, with Sakara blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. End of round 3. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Loughran. Alessio Sakara wins the match, getting a score of 29-28 from all three judges.
- ** sometimes the fight doesn't work out the way you want it to.
MAIN FIGHT CARD
TYSON GRIFFEN (12-1) VS MAC DANZIG (18-4-1)
Round 1
Nice fast-paced start from Griffin, who gets right in Danzig's face from the beginning of the round, throwing some crisp jabs and then a vicious uppercut. The two jabs got parried, the uppercut missed as Danzig side-stepped. Danzig fires back with a left hand, then a right to the body. Griffin steps in, but only into a waist-high kick from Danzig. Griffin is quick though, and manages to catch it around the knee. Using it as leverage, Griffin sweeps Danzig's standing leg and takes them to the ground. Danzig quickly pulls guard. Griffin throws out a right hand, parried away by Danzig. The guard is quite tight, for the moment at least Griffin looks content to stay there and throw some punches. Danzig isn't offering any sort of attacking threat yet, instead concentrating on keeping the strikes from landing. A big punch is driven into the ribs, Danzig thought it was going for the face. Another punch lands in the same place, and a red mark starts to develop. Danzig reaches up and pulls Griffin down into a clinch, and tries to work an armbar from the bottom. Griffin defends it easily, and gets in a sharp jab to the face too. He stands up slightly, leaning forward into the guard, and starts throwing some right hands. One gets through, the others are parried. Danzig looked like he might be considering trying to apply a triangle then, as Griffin was very exposed, but he didn't get a chance due to the ferocity of the punches. Griffin gets back down to kneeling in the guard. Another right hand lands to the ribs. Danzig fires off two punches from his back, but Griffin defends them easily by simply leaning backward out of reach. Griffin stands again, the guard remaining tight around him, and throws another couple of bombs. This time Danzig does try to apply the triangle, and an armbar at the same time, but Griffin breaks free. Time is ticking down, looks like Danzig will survive this ground and pound attack. The round ends without further note. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Griffin.
Round 2
Quick start to the round from Danzig, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Griffin defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Griffin connects. Danzig gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Danzig pushes Griffin back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Griffin blocks it. Griffin suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Danzig down to the ground, into guard. Griffin tries to work free from the guard, but can't. Danzig reaches up to try and bring Griffin down into a clinch, but the attempt gets swatted away. Griffin fires off a couple of punches, leaning forward to get some leverage, and Danzig is forced to cover up. Griffin switches and starts firing off some rapid-fire shots to the chest, Danzig deals with it by pulling the guard tighter and punching upward. Griffin looks like he is happy to sit there and throw punches at his leisure, with no real effort to pass guard. Danzig occasionally tries to roll his hips to get free, but it may be that he has realised that this round is beyond saving, and is just making sure that he doesn't put himself into a position to be knocked out or submitted by trying to escape. Indeed, time ticks away with nothing breaking the pattern of occasional strikes and defensive positioning. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Griffin.
Round 3
Danzig is quickest out, and comes at Griffin with a series of jabs and straight punches. Griffin covered up well, and I don't think anything got through. Griffin hits a body shot, but it didn't connect solidly. They get in close, and it's Danzig who takes it to the ground. Griffin pulls guard. There's a lull, as Danzig tries to pass, and Griffin defends it. Punches get thrown every so often, but it's really a stalemate at the moment. Griffin almost gets a guillotine, but it's blocked and almost leads to a kimura for Danzig, but that too goes nowhere. The referee stands them up, but the time is almost over. The third round is over. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Danzig. All three judges give a score of 29-28 in favour of Tyson Griffin.
-** The build up of Tyson Griffen begins.
JAKE SHIELDS( 20-4-1) VS JOSH KOSCHECK (11-2)
Round 1
Quick start to the round from Shields, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Koscheck defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Koscheck connects. Shields gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Shields pushes Koscheck back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Koscheck blocks it. Koscheck suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Shields down to the ground, into guard. Shields is forced into defending an attempted armbar straight away, although in truth Koscheck was leaning into it and really didn't have the leverage to apply it, he would need to get past the guard to really make that a dangerous tactic. Speaking of which, Koscheck does try to pass guard, but Shields keeps him tightly caught up in the guard. Koscheck shuffles them all the way over to the cage, so that he can get instructions from the corner. A couple of punches come raining down, but Shields covers up nicely. Shields tries to generate some attacking threat of his own, reaching up and trying to secure a guillotine, but Koscheck pops his head out quite easily. Shields drags him down into a clinch, and they remain that way for a while, with Koscheck throwing the occasional punch to the ribs, Shields throwing them to the back. Koscheck breaks free and quickly tries to pass guard, getting as far as half guard. He tries to secure an armbar, but Shields brings his legs in to defend it. Koscheck stands, still holding the arm, and ends up almost sitting on top of a balled-up Shields. He can't do a great deal from that position, although Shields will have found it hard to breathe, and the time expires without any more noteworthy strikes hitting. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Koscheck.
Round 2
They circle to begin the round. Shields throws two short jabs, then a long-range looping right hand. Koscheck had to be on his toes to get out of the way, and does. Shields goes to follow up, and narrowly avoids walking right into a right cross. He bobs underneath it, then comes in fast with a right hand. Koscheck parries it with his gloves, then shoots in and scores with a nice takedown. Shields tries to sprawl, but was too late and can only pull guard as he crash-lands to the ground. Koscheck immediately tries to pass guard, but Shields is not allowing it. Koscheck fires off some punches, but Shields blocks them before grabbing a butterfly guard to keep Koscheck trapped. They stay like that for a while before Koscheck breaks free, but only back into regular guard. Shields tries a cheeky guillotine attempt, but Koscheck easily defends it, I don't think Shields really thought that was going to work. Koscheck tries to get side control, but Shields defends it. Not the second time though, and Koscheck has the side. Shields has him tied up pretty well though, and the clock is running down. Koscheck gets in a firm couple of elbows to the ribs, but the time expires and the referee gets them to part. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Koscheck.
Round 3
Good start from Shields, taking Koscheck down almost immediately! Koscheck scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Shields will be disappointed with that. Koscheck comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Shields to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Koscheck felt that one for sure. He stalks Shields, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Shields keeps out of the way. Koscheck tries a kick, but Shields catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Shields gets Koscheck down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Shields throws some punches, then tries to pass. Koscheck doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Shields easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Shields followed by a pass attempt, with Koscheck blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Shields. Josh Koscheck wins, with a score of 29-28 from two judges, 30-27 from the other.
-** WOW wasn't expecting that result but that gives Koscheck a solid win to build on.
SERGEI KHARITONOV (15-3) VS JOSH BARNETT (22-5)
Round 1
Kharitonov meets Barnett in the center. They exchange tentative long-range punches. Barnett steps in to press the action, but gets caught with a right hand. Kharitonov scores with a left too, then a crisp jab. Barnett backs off, that exchange did not go in his favour by any means. Kharitonov presses the advantage and gets in a couple more jabs, forcing Barnett onto the back-foot, all the way until he is up against the cage. Kharitonov stands just in range and starts throwing occasional straight rights, forcing Barnett to try and react in time. Barnett parries a few shots away, but also gets caught with a couple. He steps forward and tries to get a clinch, but Kharitonov keeps away from it and continues to flick quick jabs out. Barnett is really getting schooled so far, Kharitonov's hand speed and technique have allowed him to completely control everything about this round, Barnett hasn't been able to generate anything of note. Barnett tries to change that by coming after Kharitonov, but Kharitonov meets him in the center and exchanges punches, again winning the encounter comfortably. The final minute of the round sees Barnett try two more times, and in neither can he manage to break Kharitonov's control. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Kharitonov by 10-9.
Round 2
Barnett comes out quick and immediately starts pressing Kharitonov back toward the cage. Barnett tries to use the position to his advantage, pinning Kharitonov in to prevent him from moving freely, but the exchange of punches that follows is clearly won by Kharitonov, who catches Barnett with a wicked right cross during the flurry of blows. Barnett tries again, but Kharitonov is looking sharp and parries away any dangerous shot, getting in a few crisp jabs of his own along the way. Barnett finally backs off, realising that this isn't working. Kharitonov is showing superior ability with his hands, they're fast and accurate, Barnett isn't able to cope with them at close quarters, being made to look slow and ragged in comparison. Barnett switches to using raking right hands and looping punches, keeping Kharitonov back, but its effectiveness is limited as Barnett's punches are easily parried away, and Kharitonov can still hit the occasional right hand. The round ends with that being the pattern. Kharitonov has used his better punching technique and hand speed to confound Barnett, and has controlled this round almost entirely. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Kharitonov by 10-9.
Round 3
Barnett starts strongly, immediately rushing in for a takedown. Kharitonov got taken by surprise a little, but wrestles his way free of the grapple and pulls to safety. Kharitonov doesn't hang around for a second attempt, he uses a looping left to set himself up to come in close and score with a series of strikes, two or three nice body shots included. Barnett covers up, throwing the occasional jab as a counter. Kharitonov goes for a vicious uppercut, but gets pulled into a clinch. Barnett goes for a takedown via a trip, but Kharitonov defends it. Another trip attempt, another failure. Barnett pushes Kharitonov up against the cage and tries to wrestle him to the ground, but Kharitonov keeps his balance and sprawls to stop it. Kharitonov gets in a hard right hand to the side of the face, taking advantage of the fact that Barnett was leaning in too far. Kharitonov reverses so that Barnett is against the cage. They remain clinched, with nothing more than minor strikes being thrown, for a long time. The referee finally breaks them apart and gets them back to the center. Kharitonov throws a kick, waist-high, but Barnett avoids it. That could have been used for a takedown attempt if Barnett had been quicker and caught it. Kharitonov hits two or three punches in a row, stinging the gloves of Barnett. The round draws to a close. It'll be interesting to see where the judges go with this, as Kharitonov clearly got the better strikes in throughout the round, but Barnett did probably show more aggression by virtue of his almost constant attempts to get the takedown. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Kharitonov. The judges scores are unanimous, and give a score of 30-27 to Sergei Kharitonov.
-** Winner takes a step up in the Heavyweight division.
ROBBIE LAWLER ( 15-4) VS YUSHIN OKAMI (22-4)
Round 1
Good start from Okami, taking Lawler down almost immediately! Lawler scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Okami will be disappointed with that. Lawler comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Okami to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Lawler felt that one for sure. He stalks Okami, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Okami keeps out of the way. Lawler tries a kick, but Okami catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Okami gets Lawler down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Okami throws some punches, then tries to pass. Lawler doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Okami easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Okami followed by a pass attempt, with Lawler blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Okami.
Round 2
Tentative start to the round, the fighters are circling. Lawler throws out a couple of range-finding jabs, but they aren't anything that will trouble Okami. Kick to the thigh from Okami, but it lacked power. Okami narrowly misses a right cross. Okami gets caught with a solid right hand out of nowhere, and is rocked. Lawler follows up with another one, and Okami looks in trouble all of a sudden. He is backed up against the cage and Lawler is unloading. The punches are raining down, Okami is covering up. The referee has seen enough and stops the fight, clearly feeling that Okami was unable to defend himself intelligently. Lawler wins. Official time of the TKO is 1:49 of the second.
- ** Got to belive Lawler is now the number one contender for the middlewieght title. The only fight of the night to not go the distance.

Ok so the first question is what do these points mean. Well like I said you the fans will help shape the UFC. The points are to be used by you guys to help make match ups. You earn a point for every correct matchup you guess, so the more you guess the more points you earn. what do these points earn you. Well......
10 points = to match up a fighter of your choice (non title) against another fighter of your choice.
20 points = send a favorite fighter to a training camp to improve an area in his game. ie. boxing, submission, wrestling.
25 points = to match up a champion of your choice against a top 5 contender.
Winning the pick for a fight night = you get a two free match ups of you choice (non title)
Winning a pick for A PPV Event = you get a title match pick of your choosing. and to name a main event on a fight night.
More rewards may follow. Of course I am up for suggestions. One idea I have is to allow you guys to hire or fire guys.
So of course I will have to work with you guys a little on these as far as when a guy is resting or injured. But there is no time limit for when you pick your matches. So like in this case Dublin Sky could pick a fight for the next card and save his next pick for a year later, or whenever he wants it.
This means the more you pick the more you win. So even if you can't pick the most winners everytime you still get a chance to particiapate. So Dublin Sky you can email me with some fight match ups now or if you have a question about the roster send it in to.

UFC 87 SEEK AND DESTROY
SAM STOUT (13-4-1) VS JOE LAUZON (16-4)
Round 1
Stout is the first to score a meaningful blow, tagging Lauzon with a jab to the cheek. Lauzon uses a nice straight left to return fire. Stout comes in to work the body, but Lauzon saw it coming and uses a quick takedown to put Stout onto the floor, falling into guard. Lauzon tries to pass guard, but Stout doesn't allow it. Stout throws a couple of punches, but they're parried away. He breaks his guard to bring a leg across and try to kick Lauzon in the face, but it's a mistake as Lauzon pushes the leg aside and gets side control. Lauzon pushes them closer to the cage, near his own corner so that they can give him instructions. Following what they say, Lauzon throws some heavy blows to the unprotected stomach of Stout, then tries to isolate the closest arm. Stout frantically tries to stop that happening, but does indeed give it up. He does manage to roll to the side, giving himself some good leverage and preventing Lauzon from extending the arm. Lauzon continues trying to apply an armbar, but Stout is not allowing it. Eventually Lauzon turns and tries to get a crucifix position instead. Stout fights that off too. The round ends with Lauzon still doggedly trying to get an armbar submission, and Stout tenaciously stopping it. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Lauzon.
Round 2
Very, very slow start to the round. Over a minute has gone before the first meaningful strike connects. It's Stout who hits it, scoring with a shot to the chest. Lauzon fires back with a couple of jabs, both of which connect with the shoulder rather than the face where they were aimed. The two fighters come together in the center and exchange punches, neither getting the clear advantage. Lauzon suddenly shoots in and goes for a takedown, but Stout manages to sprawl long enough to get them all the way back to the cage, which keeps him upright. Lauzon tries to complete the takedown, but realises that the leverage isn't there and instead stands and clinches. Stout hits a couple of shots to the back. Lauzon hits a stomp. Stout lifts his leg to go for a knee, but that gives Lauzon the opportunity to lift him and slam him down to the ground. That was a hard slam! Lauzon is on top, almost sitting on top of a balled-up Stout. He throws some hard downward punches, Stout defends most of them, although one hits hard above the eye. Lauzon leaves his arm in for a second too long and Stout reaches up and almost gets an armbar. Lauzon gets free though, although the effort puts him off-balance enough for him to stumble, giving Stout the opportunity to scramble back up. There's a nasty mark above the eye where the earlier punch connected though. They go back to circling each other. There's not much time left. Stout tries one last big attack, swinging for the fences with two bombs, but Lauzon avoids both, adding a nice shot to the stomach after the second dodge. The round ends there. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Lauzon.
Round 3
Quick start to the round from Stout, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Lauzon defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Lauzon connects. Stout gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Stout pushes Lauzon back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Lauzon blocks it. Lauzon suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Stout down to the ground, into guard. Stout tries to push free, but Lauzon forces him to go back to guard by raining down some jabs. Lauzon reaches over and tries to apply some sort of neck vice, but Stout breaks it by bringing his arms up. Lauzon steps through in an effort to mount Stout, but can only get to half guard as one of his legs gets trapped. Lauzon throws some strikes, then tries to work an armbar on the closest arm. Stout rolls over and uses his free arm to keep that from happening. That goes on for quite a long time, with Lauzon determined to try and work the arm free and get an armbar, while Stout uses everything at his disposal to block it. The round ends without Lauzon having made the breakthrough, although he clearly ran away with the round in terms of points. The third round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Lauzon. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Joe Lauzon.
- * I like Joe Lauzon so this works great for me.
DOUNG HYUN KIM (9-1-1) VS TAMDAN MCCROY (8-1)
Round 1
Kim starts fast, unleashing a bomb of a right hand, but McCrory avoids it without too much trouble. Kim isn't disheartened though, swinging two more huge punches, with McCrory getting out the way each time, but being forced all over the place. Kim finally backs off a little, breathing hard. That was quite a frantic start. McCrory opts to use that, and comes in to throw some jabs. Kim is backed up against the cage, covering up. McCrory clinches. They struggle, and the fight enters a lull. Kim hits a knee strike to the hip. McCrory slips one leg behind Kim and uses that as leverage for a big trip. Kim landed hard, with McCrory on top. They're in half guard. It's to Kim's advantage that they're right next to the cage, that is blocking McCrory from attacking the left hand side of the body. Kim is forced into action to defend a kimura attempt. McCrory tries to step over to mount, but Kim keeps his legs in position and ends up almost rolled into a ball. McCrory fires some stiff punches to the back, then one to the face. He reaches through and tries to secure an armbar, but has to be careful as he is in danger of getting picked off with a counter armbar too. Kim doesn't appear to be trying that though, instead trying to shift his weight so that he can get back up. McCrory isn't allowing it though, and gets a couple more punches in before settling back into half guard. Kim ties him up in a snug clinch. The action halts, and time expires before McCrory can get free. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to McCrory.
Round 2
The two fighters touch gloves to start the round, and almost immediately come together in a clinch. There's a struggle for supremacy, but neither seems to be able to gain the advantage. They struggle all the way to the cage, neither seems to have a clear-cut advantage when it comes to wrestling. Things stall, neither fighter seems willing to risk attempting a takedown. The referee waits thirty seconds, then pulls them apart due to the inactivity. McCrory leads with a right hand, then delivers a brutal uppercut, Kim had to step back quickly to avoid getting caught. He winds up back against the cage, and McCrory doesn't relent, moving in fast to unload with a series of jabs. Kim got some of his own in, but the upper hand is definitely with McCrory. Vicious right hand! Out of nowhere, it caught Kim flush in the face, and he slumps down against the cage. McCrory follows up with more punches, and the referee dives in to break it up. It's all over. Kim wasn't knocked out, but that one punch was a beauty, and it stopped him getting any sort of defence together to stop the following punches. McCrory wins via 2nd round TKO with the official time being 2:51.
** solid win for Mccroy.
MARTIN KAMPMANN (16-2) VS EVAN TANNER (32-8)
Round 1
Kampmann scores with a straight left, but gets one right back from Tanner. Tentative opening. Kampmann comes in slowly, faking a straight left, but Tanner goes for the legs and takes him down to the floor. Kampmann gets guard. Tanner tries to grab an arm to work a submission, but Kampmann is defending it well by using short, sharp strikes to keep him back. Tanner tries to pass the guard, but has no luck. A punch from Tanner connects, but there was no real power behind it. Tanner fakes Kampmann out cleverly, and slips to a half mount. Kampmann manages to hit a firm elbow, then is forced to defend the full mount attempt. Tanner switches tactics and tries to work a kimura on the other arm, but Kampmann blocks it, squirms his leg free, and secures the guard again. Tanner looks frustrated at losing the half mount after having worked so hard to get it in the first place. Kampmann is liable to lose the round on points, but he has done a fine job of defending the submissions attempts so far. Tanner tries to secure a leglock, but the guard is tight and Kampmann is safe. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Tanner by 10-9.
Round 2
Kampmann comes out fast and quickly backs Tanner up, all the way up against the cage. Kampmann throws a series of rights and lefts; none of the strikes to the head got through, but two nice body shots did. He doesn't follow up though, instead keeping a few steps back, clearly not wanting to get tied up in a clinch. Tanner throws a low kick, then advances with some jabs, forcing Kampmann to back off a little. They meet in the center and exchange strikes, with Kampmann looking the crisper striker of the two, although without doing any real damage. Tanner shoots in for the takedown, but Kampmann sprawls and eventually pushes free. Right hand from Kampmann, then two jabs which both find their mark. Tanner bats away a third, then comes in hard and fast for a second takedown attempt. Kampmann sprawls again, but gets pushed all the way up against the cage. Tanner has a leg, but is low down to the ground and doesn't have the leverage to complete the takedown. He works to a better standing position, but has to lose the leg and grab a clinch instead. They both fire off some small punches from there. Tanner tries for a trip, but Kampmann avoids it and works free from the clinch. He returns to the center, clearly wanting a striking battle rather than a grappling match. Tanner follows, hands held high, and throws a couple of jabs. Kampmann connects with one instead though, and then with a looping right hand that catches Tanner above the eye. He felt that, but doesn't go down. Best strike of the round so far. Tanner throws a low kick. Kampmann comes in to strike again, but this time cannot sprawl quickly enough and gets taken down. Kampmann pulls guard. Unfortunately for Tanner, now that he has finally gotten the takedown, there's less than thirty seconds left. He tries to pass guard to get to side control, but Kampmann comfortably defends it until the round is over. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Kampmann.
Round 3
They touch gloves. Tanner begins brightly, putting together several crisp jabs to put Kampmann on the back foot early. Kampmann parries the final jab, and uses that to move in close and hit two right hands and a vicious uppercut. Tanner got his chin out of the way at the last second, otherwise that could have very well caused a knock out. Kampmann keeps up the pressure by coming in swinging, looking for another brutal shot, but Tanner ducks under it and drops Kampmann to the ground with a quick takedown. Kampmann pulls guard. Tanner doggedly tries to pass guard, but Kampmann keeps him at bay. The referee tells them that he wants to see more in the way of action or he'll stand them up. Not much of an incentive for Kampmann to do anything, but it does inspire Tanner to throw a couple of hard punches, albeit ones that are easily parried by the gloves of Kampmann. Tanner manages to work past Kampmann's right leg, but gets caught in half guard before he can get the mount that he was looking for. The fight once again slows right down, with Kampmann's tenacious defence frustrating Tanner. Kampmann sucks Tanner into a clinch, and even tries a cheeky guillotine. Tanner pushes him away though, and nails a beauty of a right hand to the cheek in response. I don't think Kampmann will be trying that move again for a while. Tanner grabs an arm and tries to twist it backward to create some torque. Kampmann uses his free arm to grab his own wrist, preventing that from happening. The time expires without anything further of note happening. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Tanner. All three judges give a score of 29-28 to Evan Tanner.
* I can't lie, this was booked for Tanner to lose but since his death I say let him ride to the championship, maybe with your help he can!
CUNG LE (6-0) VS PETE SELL (7-4)
Round 1
Sell comes out fast, and looks like he is aiming for a quick takedown, but Le stops that plan with some looping punches. Solid right hand from Le connects, and that's the best moment of the opening minute of the round. Sell is mainly defending against punches, it looks like he is trying to work an angle to try for a takedown. Le seems to have noticed, as he is purposely positioning against that. Straight left from Le, then a low kick, then a wicked body shot. Sell felt that, and backs off. Sell tries to get in for a clinch, perhaps looking for a takedown from that position, but Le gets him to back off with some jabs. Le has really been able to stamp his gameplan on this round, Sell has been blocked at every turn. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Le.
Round 2
Le starts brightly by throwing some looping punches. Defended well by Sell. They circle, throwing tentative jabs. Sell goes for a single leg and puts Le on the floor, but he is up very quickly, preventing Sell from getting on top. Le definitely seems to want to keep this standing. Sell hits a nice jab, avoids a counter left hook, then comes in low and takes down Le again. This time Le isn't able to get up, and has to pull guard. Times ticking away though, Sell will have to hurry to finish. He goes for an armbar, but Le defends. Sell tries to slip past to get side control, but Le just about manages to keep guard. A second attempt works though, and Sell has the side. Two big elbows land, and Le seems in trouble. Sell goes for the kimura, but can't quite get it. The time expires before he can try again, and the referee separates them. End of round 2. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Sell.
Round 3
Le leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Sell deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Sell uses a knee to the ribs before backing Le up against the cage. Right hand from Le connects though, that was well timed. Sell breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Le was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Sell sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Le fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Le drives Sell up against the cage and sweeps him for an astonishingly easy takedown. Le seems to be feeling it, he starts raining down punches! A big shot catches Sell right in the mouth, followed closely by one above the right eye. This could all be over very soon, Sell is getting creamed. Le fires off another big punch, this time grazing the ear...but Sell suddenly snaps his guard shut, catching an overconfident Le in a triangle choke! It looks like Sell lured him into that one. Le tries to fight it, but he is caught and looks like he is fading fast. Sell squeezes even harder. Le taps out! It's over. Sell wins via 3rd round triangle choke submission with the official time being 3:57.
** Horrible conclusion Sell was on his way out. Hoping to build Cung Le.
NATE DIAZ (9-2) VS GRAY MAYNARD (5-0)
Round 1
Diaz throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Maynard throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Diaz steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Maynard hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Diaz. They struggle all the way back, with Diaz ending up backed up against the cage. Maynard hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Diaz stomps downward onto his foot. Diaz manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Maynard gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Diaz ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Diaz tries a high kick to start, but Maynard saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Maynard who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Diaz on the nose. Diaz hits a straight right, enough to stop Maynard from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Maynard.
Round 2
Diaz comes out fast, but gets hit with a counter right hand strike when he throws a left hand which was too high. Maynard moves in and hits a nice body shot before they clinch. Diaz gets in a short, sharp jab to the side of the head, it looked to hit right on the ear. Maynard didn't like that, and scores with two knee strikes and a punch to the cheek. They break apart. Maynard swings and hits a nice right hand. Diaz fires off a series of sharp jabs, all hitting gloves. He throws out a looping left, but gets tagged with a punch to the jaw and stumbles to the ground! Maynard dives in to finish him off, but he scrambles back up quickly and they end up facing off on their feet again. Replays show that the punch barely connected, it was more of a stumble on Diaz's part than anything else. It might not look that way to the judges though. Maynard looks more confident after that, and puts together a nice chain of strikes, ending with a scathing low kick that catches Diaz on the outside of the calf. He definitely felt that. Time is running out; Maynard will probably take this round on the judges' score cards, primarily due to that one dubious knock down. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Maynard.
Round 3
They touch gloves to begin. Diaz throws out a looping right hand, setting up a mid-level kick. The punch found gloves, the kick found nothing but thin air as Maynard had stepped back in time. They meet in the center, exchanging a series of blows, and Diaz gets the better of it, scoring with a crisp jab that causes Maynard to back up quickly. Sensing a chance, Diaz follows and forces him up against the cage with some jabs. Maynard covers up, as two hard strikes find the gloves from Diaz. A right hand misses, and that is the chance Maynard needs to quickly get out of trouble and back to the center. Great start to the round from Diaz. They come together, both throwing punches. Diaz gets a nice clean shot in, and Maynard stumbles backwards and falls to the floor. Diaz is on top of him quickly, and unloads with two more big punches, both connect solidly. The referee jumps in and pulls him away before a third is thrown, this match is over by TKO. Replays show the referee may have been slightly early. Official time of the TKO is 2:55 of the third round.
** Another classic win win situation.
FRANKIE EDGAR (8-1) VS EDDIE ALVAREZ (14-1)
Round 1
Edgar leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Alvarez deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Alvarez uses a knee to the ribs before backing Edgar up against the cage. Right hand from Edgar connects though, that was well timed. Alvarez breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Edgar was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Alvarez sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Edgar fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. A thunderous kick connects from Alvarez, catching Edgar hard across the chest. He staggers back up against the cage, looking stunned. Alvarez follows in and scores with several punches. Edgar tries to cover up, but falls down and becomes overwhelmed with more punches. The referee has seen enough and jumps in to stop the match. Official time of the TKO is 3:16 of the first round.
** Building Alvarez.
BEN ROTHWELL (29-5) VS MICHAEL RUSSOW (10-1)
Round 1
Tentative start, neither fighter is willing to commit yet. Rothwell fires off a jab, but it was easily blocked. Russow fakes a kick, then comes in hard and fast with a takedown, sending Rothwell to the floor. The momentum causes Russow to almost go completely over the top though, and Rothwell is able to flip him to the side and end up on top, in the guard position. Rothwell fires off a couple of tentative punches, testing out the guard of Russow. Rothwell tries to pass the guard, but can't, Russow isn't going to let him get a better position, as he knows that Rothwell will start raining down punches. Rothwell tries a big right hand, but it's easily defended. Russow gets a punch of his own in, but it didn't connect properly. Rothwell again tries to get past the guard, but again is foiled. It's turned into a bit of a stalemate, although the referee probably won't stand them up as long as the punches continue to flow. Rothwell fakes an elbow before trying to pass the guard for a third time, and briefly has side mount, but Russow fought it hard and gets back to guard within seconds. Butterfly guard by Russow, and Rothwell is having trouble generating any attacking threat. He'll probably win the round as he has been more aggressive, but Russow has defended the danger well. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Rothwell.
Round 2
They start the round with an exchange of strikes, all from fairly long range as they circle and try to work angles. None of the blows did any damage, either missing or being straight into the opponent's gloves. Rothwell is the first to land a worthwhile blow, hitting a straight right that catches Russow on the side of the cheek. Rothwell follows up by backing him up against the cage, throws a couple of big punches, but gets pulled into a clinch without doing any serious damage. Russow goes for a trip and almost gets it, but Rothwell is able to regain his footing at the last moment. Russow has Rothwell against the cage, and hits three right hands to the side of the ribs. Rothwell reaches down and picks up a leg, using that as leverage to topple Russow, who pulls guard. Rothwell starts pounding away and does some damage before Russow grapples and pulls him down into a clinch. Russow has both of Rothwell's arms tied up, preventing much in the way of attacking action. Rothwell uses some shoulder shrugs to the face, but Russow isn't going to be too bothered by that. Rothwell pulls one arm free. Russow still has tight control of the other, and brings his legs up, trying to apply an armbar. Rothwell sees it coming and blocks it easily, getting in a couple of punches for good measure. Rothwell steps through the legs and forces Russow to release the arm so that he can cover up against a series of strikes. Russow manages to ensare one leg though, and so Rothwell has to make do with being in half guard instead of getting the full mount that he wanted. Rothwell hits a couple of punches, takes one back, then attempts to get side control. Russow keeps him at bay. Time is ticking away, if Rothwell is going to use this position to finish the match, it had better be done soon. Rothwell pulls Russow's left arm to one side and straightens it out, perhaps looking to turn it into an armbar. Russow rolls over to stop the arm getting trapped. Rothwell continues to work for it though. Time expires though, the round is over. End of round 2. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Rothwell.
Round 3
Nice fast-paced start from Rothwell, who gets right in Russow's face from the beginning of the round, throwing some crisp jabs and then a vicious uppercut. The two jabs got parried, the uppercut missed as Russow side-stepped. Russow fires back with a left hand, then a right to the body. Rothwell steps in, but only into a waist-high kick from Russow. Rothwell is quick though, and manages to catch it around the knee. Using it as leverage, Rothwell sweeps Russow's standing leg and takes them to the ground. Russow quickly pulls guard. End of round 3. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Rothwell. The official scores are: 30-27 (twice), 29-28 for Ben Rothwell.
** Making a Heavyweight contender
BROCK LESNAR (1-1) VS DAN EVENSON (10-2)
Round 1
Evensen throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Lesnar throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Evensen steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Lesnar hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Evensen. They struggle all the way back, with Evensen ending up backed up against the cage. Lesnar hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Evensen stomps downward onto his foot. Evensen manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Lesnar gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Evensen ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Evensen tries a high kick to start, but Lesnar saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Lesnar who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Evensen on the nose. Evensen hits a straight right, enough to stop Lesnar from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Lesnar.
Round 2
Lesnar and Evensen circle to start. Evensen throws a couple of looping punches, neither hitting, while Lesnar sits back, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Evensen comes in closer, looking to unload with a right hand; that misses, and it allows Lesnar to slip a nice jab in, catching Evensen just underneath the right eye. Lesnar comes in and scores with a straight left, then bounces a right hand off the body. Evensen misses with a right cross, then backs off. Lesnar stalks him, forcing Evensen back up against the cage. Lesnar doesn't rush in, instead standing back and throwing the occasional punch. Evensen throws a big left hand in response, but it misses by quite a margin. Lesnar pounces, hitting lefts and rights. Evensen covers up from the first two punches, then clinches up to prevent any more coming in. They're up against the cage, Lesnar in the dominant position. They remain that way as the time ticks down. Lesnar throws the occasional knee, but can't really do much with his arms tied up like that. The referee finally tells them to break, and they return to the center. That clinch ate up a lot of time though. Evensen comes in hard and fast, bobbing and weaving, and throws a couple of big shots. Lesnar parries them with his gloves and scores with a well-executed counter punch, hitting just above the eye. They come in close again, throwing punches, but wind up clinched again. The time expires with them like that, and that round will definitely go down in Lesnar's favour. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Lesnar.
Round 3
Dull first sixty seconds to the round, as neither fighter looks willing to commit much to attack. They're both looking for angles to come in from, but they're constantly countering each other. A crisp jab from Lesnar that almost found its way through the guard is the sole highlight as we reach the minute mark. Lesnar is looking the slightly more fit of the two fighters. Evensen ducks out of the way of a punch, then back steps quickly, just in time to avoid the uppercut that was coming. Better from Lesnar, although no damage has actually been done yet. Lesnar clinches with Evensen. A quick trip sends Evensen falling backward, pulling guard to take Lesnar down with him. Evensen struggles to contain Lesnar, who passes to half guard without too much trouble. A few hard shots get thrown, and Evensen does well to defend them, deflecting them off his gloves. Lesnar is trying to get his leg free so that he can get into side control. Evensen throws a couple of punches from his back, but they do very little damage. Lesnar half-stands, and throws a couple of big punches with a lot of force behind them. One is blocked, but the other hits home just below the left eye. Evensen tries to cover up, while Lesnar manages to get his leg free and get into a mount. Evensen is in big trouble. He tries to roll his hips and shift Lesnar's weight, but it's not working. Lesnar fires off a couple of punches, then drops an absolute bomb of a right hand, landing flush on the chin! Evensen is out, just for a second, but the referee has already pulled Lesnar off. Sharp-eyed refereeing there. This match is over by knock out. Lesnar wins via third round knock out at 2:18.
*** Wrestling Fan so yeah Brock is getting a push, well has much as you can do that in MMA.
MATT SERRA (9-6) VS MATT HUGHES (42-7)
Round 1
Serra hits some tentative punches, then comes in fast and forces Hughes to back up against the cage, where they clinch. Serra hits a nice body shot, but takes two short punches to the side of the head in return. Hughes tries a trip, but it doesn't go anywhere. They separate, with Serra having to stay sharp to avoid a scorching right hand from Hughes. Hughes scores with a quick single leg trip but falls right into guard. He tries to throw a couple of big punches, but completely exposes himself to a triangle. Serra tightens it up and there doesn't look to be anyway out. Finally Hughes taps out. Official time of the triangle submission is 3:15 of the first.
*** Love it, I hate Hughes so this works for me.
LYOTO MACHIDA (13-0) VS THIAGO SILVA (13-0)
Round 1
Silva throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Machida throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Silva steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Machida hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Silva. They struggle all the way back, with Silva ending up backed up against the cage. Machida hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Silva stomps downward onto his foot. Silva manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Machida gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Silva ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Silva tries a high kick to start, but Machida saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Machida who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Silva on the nose. Silva hits a straight right, enough to stop Machida from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Machida.
Round 2
Right hand from Machida was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Silva. Machida follows up by coming in close, but Silva is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. Silva throws a right hand, narrowly missing. Machida almost seems to be inviting him on to throw punches, he could be trying to lure him into over-committing. Silva throws a jab that connects, albeit without much power, but it causes Machida to back up quickly, back toward the cage. Silva comes in quickly, throwing looping punches, but gets reckless and Machida grabs the opportunity by nailing a big right cross! Silva collapses in a heap, his left leg buckling underneath him in at an awkward angle. Machida has knocked him out cold with a killer punch. The official time is 1:58.
*** Someone was leaving still undefeated
CHUCK LIDDELL (21-5) VS RASHAD EVANS (11-0-1)
Round 1
They circle to start, both throwing a few tentative jabs. An uppercut misses its mark from Evans, providing the first moment of real action. Liddell hits a nice combination of body shots to set up a big right hook, but Evans side-stepped to safety. A few punches get thrown, but there's a lack of real action to talk about. Liddell is being slightly the more aggressive, but neither fighter is really going for it. They come together again and exchange punches, but no big shots get through, and they end up clinched for a while. The referee separates them, but the time is ticking away and this round looks like it's going to the judges. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Liddell.
Round 2
Slow start to the round, Evans is circling while Liddell seems content to just throw the occasional looping punch to cause him to back up. Evans steps in and fires off two jabs, neither connecting, then has to almost throw himself to one side to avoid a devastating looking punch! Liddell was clearly looking for the highlight reel K.O. punch, had that connected there is no way that Evans was getting back up. There's a warning to Evans, he must now know, if he didn't already, that Liddell has knock out intentions tonight. Evans throws a right hand, then backs up sharply, clearly not loving the idea of getting too close. Liddell still looks calm, throwing the occasional jab or two to keep Evans off balance. Liddell throws a nice combination of punches, but Evans was out of range and untroubled. Liddell comes in quick, just as Evans throws a wild high kick. The kick connects, crunching into the temple, and Liddell is out cold, falling painfully face-first to the floor. Evans's wild kick wins the match with a knock out. Official time of the knock out is 3:23 of the second round.
**** I swear I am not lying and this is a great result, this might be as good a knock out as real life was.
GEORGES ST PIERRE (16-2) VS JON FITCH (17-2)
Round 1
Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. St. Pierre works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Fitch backed up against the cage. St. Pierre gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Fitch, who uses his legs well to defend. St. Pierre pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Fitch gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. St. Pierre follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. St. Pierre hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Fitch tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Fitch leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to St. Pierre by 10-9.
Round 2
The two fighters circle. A series of looping punches from St. Pierre forces Fitch back up against the cage, and he has to cover up to withstand the three strikes that follow. No real damage caused, but St. Pierre is aggressively chasing this match. A hook finds the body and Fitch clinches. They almost lose their balance as they jockey for position, Fitch gets in a couple of knees when they regain their footing. St. Pierre seems to be trying to break the clinch, it's Fitch who is holding it tight, perhaps hoping to calm the energetic start that St. Pierre had. The referee finally does break them up, after nearly a full minute of inactivity. Fitch scores with a jab, then another, then comes in fast with a takedown. St. Pierre scrambles and after an extended period of struggling manages to get himself into north and south position, on top of Fitch. St. Pierre hits a hard right to the chest, then turns and gets a full mount. Fitch is really struggling, and can barely get his arms up to cover up from the strikes that St. Pierre is now raining down. A quick transition and St. Pierre has an arm and applies an americana. Fitch has no choice, there's the tap out. St. Pierre wins via 2nd round americana submission with the official time being 4:58. Georges St. Pierre is still the UFC Welterweight champion.
**** St. Pieere is a beast so this makes since.

FIGHT NIGHT SEPTEMBER
MW AMIR SADOLLAH (1-0) VS MATTHEW RIDDLE (1-0)
Round 1
Two jabs from the left hand of Sadollah set up a hard waist-high kick, but Riddle steps back to avoid it. Nice attempt though. Sadollah moves in closer, bobbing and weaving, and looks to score with a looping right hand, but Riddle uses the gloves to parry it away, then counter-strikes with a crisp jab and a kick to the knee. Good opening to the round, both fighters are looking lively. Sadollah finds himself backed up against the cage briefly, and has to scramble to safety to avoid a flurry of strikes. Riddle is working for position, and is currently looking the more composed of the two. Sadollah throws a big right hand, but misses and is wide open, allowing Riddle to take him down with ease. Sadollah scrambles, Riddle tries to stay with him , and a battle for ground supremacy happens. Sadollah manages to sweep Riddle, and the frenetic grappling ends with Sadollah in Riddle's guard. Sadollah manages to get past the guard and almost gets a mount, but Riddle wakes up and manages to restrict it to half guard only. Sadollah does not look in the mood to play around though, as he explodes with a barrage of punches. Riddle covers up, and even throws a few in return, but the sheer number of punches completely overwhelms him and the referee is forced to pull Sadollah off. A bit of a controversial decision there, as Sadollah hadn't been able to get free of the half guard and so was somewhat restricted, but Riddle was taking quite a few shots to the face anyway. Sadollah wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 2:20.
** nice win for Sadollah, He finishes fights.
WW PAUL TAYLOR (9-3-1) VS YOSHIYUKI YOSHIDA (10-2)
Round 1
Tentative start, neither fighter is willing to commit yet. Yoshida fires off a jab, but it was easily blocked. Taylor fakes a kick, then comes in hard and fast with a takedown, sending Yoshida to the floor. The momentum causes Taylor to almost go completely over the top though, and Yoshida is able to flip him to the side and end up on top, in the guard position. It takes a minute, but Yoshida's persistence allows him to pass guard and get to side control. Taylor needs to try and get out of this quickly. Yoshida seems content to simply control the action at the moment, rather than trying to actually end the fight. He fires an occasional punch to the body, but other than that there's very little going on. Taylor isn't being allowed to do much, and has the added problem of having a 170lb man across his chest, making it difficult to breathe properly. Yoshida tries to get an armbar on the far arm, but Taylor links his hands together to stop the elbow getting hyper-extended. Yoshida drives a back-fist into the face, hitting right below the left eye, but Taylor shifts his weight and manages to get himself into a better defensive position. The time expires with them in that position, with Yoshida having controlled the ground game entirely. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Yoshida.
Round 2
Yoshida hits a nice left hook. Taylor felt it, and throws a ragged punch in response, missing by a mile. Yoshida comes in close and hits a couple of big body shots, bobbing out of the way of the jabs that were aimed for his jaw. Taylor clinches up, but gets pushed all the way back to the cage, where Yoshida uses a trip to send them both down to the ground. Yoshida immediately tries to pass guard, but Taylor is not allowing it. Yoshida fires off some punches, but Taylor blocks them before grabbing a butterfly guard to keep Yoshida trapped. They stay like that for a while before Yoshida breaks free, but only back into regular guard. Taylor tries a cheeky guillotine attempt, but Yoshida easily defends it, I don't think Taylor really thought that was going to work. Yoshida tries to get side control, but Taylor defends it. Not the second time though, and Yoshida has the side. Taylor has him tied up pretty well though, and the clock is running down. Yoshida gets in a firm couple of elbows to the ribs, but the time expires and the referee gets them to part. The second round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Yoshida.
Round 3
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Yoshida puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Taylor defended well. Straight right from Taylor in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Yoshida probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Taylor gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Yoshida. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Yoshida by 10-9. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Yoshiyuki Yoshida.
** Yoshida should have won so no surpirse here.
WW RORY MARHAM (12-3) VS CHRIS WILSON (13-4)
Round 1
Markham throws the first punch of the round, a high searching jab that didn't carry a great deal of threat with it. Wilson throws a one-two combination in return, neither connecting, then steps in and delivers a hard kick to the outside of the thigh. Markham steps back, throwing a right hand as he does to buy himself space. They circle, then move in again to exchange strikes, neither fighter getting a clear advantage. They come together again and the same result. It has become something of a stalemate at the moment. They come together to exchange strikes for the third time, and this time they wind up in a clinch. Wilson hits a knee to the ribs. A couple of shots to the back from Markham. They struggle all the way back, with Markham ending up backed up against the cage. Wilson hits another knee, but there wasn't much power behind it. Markham stomps downward onto his foot. Markham manages to reverse their positions, but that only lasts about thirty seconds before it gets reversed once more. Wilson gets an arm free and tries to throw a big shot to the cheek, Markham ducks under it and gets the arm back under control. The referee finally breaks them up, and we're back to where we started. Markham tries a high kick to start, but Wilson saw it coming and easily avoids it. They come back together in the center, and it's Wilson who gets the first sustained attack of the round, hitting two hard body shots and a jab that caught Markham on the nose. Markham hits a straight right, enough to stop Wilson from following up any further. The time expires with them standing. Not a great round for either of them or the crowd, it was very scrappy. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Wilson.
Round 2
Right hand from Wilson was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Markham. Wilson follows up by coming in close, but Markham is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. They come together, both throwing punches. Wilson gets a nice clean shot in, and Markham stumbles backwards and falls to the floor. Wilson is on top of him quickly, and unloads with two more big punches, both connect solidly. The referee jumps in and pulls him away before a third is thrown, this match is over by TKO. Replays show the referee may have been slightly early. Wilson wins via 2nd round TKO with the official time being 1:27.
* Building up some contenders.
LW MARK BOCEK (5-2) VS JEREMY STEPHENS (13-3)
Round 1
The round starts slowly, with both fighters circling, tentatively throwing out the occasional jab. Bocek is the first to make a positive move, stepping in to throw a right hand, although he probably wishes that he hadn't, as Stephens picks him off with a crisp jab to the cheek. Bocek throws a wild punch as a counter, but Stephens ducks and backs off out of range. They meet again in the center for an exchange of punches. Bocek gets a clubbing blow to the side of the head in, but takes a hard shot to the stomach in return. The early pattern seems to be that Bocek is looking for big punches, Stephens is happy to avoid them and use quick counter punches instead. They clinch up, and Bocek manages to back Stephens up against the cage. Bocek takes a half step backward and throws a big right hand to the head, but Stephens ducks under at the last second, scores with a pair of punches to the gut, then darts out of trouble before Bocek can unload. Bocek may need to think about changing tactics, Stephens is looking far sharper in these striking battles, and is beginning to control the pace and tempo of the round. Bocek fakes a right hand, then shoots out a low kick, catching Stephens on the thigh. Stephens presses forward for the first time, getting in close and using a couple of jabs to the body. Bocek gets a nice left hook in, glancing off the gloves, and then clinches up. Time ticks away and the round ends just a few seconds after the referee separates them. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Stephens by 10-9.
Round 2
They circle each other. Bocek misses with a low kick, and Stephens darts in to hit a jab before retreating. They come together and exchange punches, both got a few shots in. Stephens is looking much lighter on his feet, and keeps moving in, hitting a few punches, then getting back out of range. Bocek is trying to catch him coming in, but doesn't have the timing quite right. It happens again. Stephens isn't getting much power on the punches, but he is getting ahead on points. Bocek tries to get in close, but Stephens is keeping moving, and isn't letting himself get cornered. About thirty seconds pass without any contact, and the crowd become a little restless. Stephens gets a solid punch in, catching Bocek just above the left eye. Bocek finally gets a clinch, forcing Stephens up against the cage, but it's too little, too late as the round ends. The second round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Stephens.
Round 3
Bocek starts the round by throwing some low kicks. Stephens checks them, then comes in and clearly wants to trade punches. Bocek doesn't seem too bothered by that, and they enter into the first exchange of punches of the round. Difficult to say who came out on top, neither of them did a great deal of damage, most of the shots hit the opponent's gloves. Bocek cleverly head-fakes, allowing him the time and angle that he needed to catch Stephens with a beauty of a right hook. Stephens stumbles backward, but doesn't go down. Bocek presses the advantage by following in with a kick, then a right hand. Stephens clinches. They remain clinched for a while. Stephens scores with a nice knee, it appeared to catch Bocek in the gut. Bocek uses a single leg trip and takes the fight to the ground. Bocek gets to side control upon impact, and immediately goes for an armbar. Stephens reacts quickly, but is in real danger. Bocek has his left arm straightened out, fortunately Stephens has managed to roll and get a good position that is stopping Bocek from getting the leverage needed to apply an armlock. Bocek tries to step over and fully apply it, but Stephens breaks free and gets him to back off with a couple of up-kicks. Bocek steps back and motions for him to stand up. They go back to circling in the center. Stephens hits a nice right hand, but takes one back too. The time runs down; Bocek will probably get that round on points, he hit the best punch of the round, and got the only takedown, plus was the one who was working toward a submission. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Bocek. The official scores are: 29-28 (twice), 30-27 for Jeremy Stephens.
* Nice win for Stephens here.
LHW MATT HAMIL (4-1) VS WILSON GOUVEIA (10-5)
Round 1
The round starts with some tentative striking. Both fighters look to be using their strikes merely to keep the opponent off-balance while they work for an angle for a takedown, rather than actually trying to inflict too much damage. Gouveia goes for the first takedown, but Hamill has it well-scouted and they merely end up in a clinch. They tussle, ending up all the way back against the cage. Both fighters try trips, but neither gets anything. Finally, the referee steps in and separates them. Hamill storms back in almost immediately and takes Gouveia down, into guard. It's hard to say whether that was just a good takedown or whether Gouveia just had a lapse in concentration. Hamill tries to pass the guard but can't, with Gouveia employing a rubber guard now. There's a definite stalemate, Gouveia is defending very well but isn't really offering any attacking threat or really trying to get out of this predicament. Hamill makes a big effort to pass, and manages to get to half guard, but Gouveia has him tied up pretty well all the same. Time is ticking away, what has been a very tame round looks set to end without much in the way of highlights. It'll have to go to Hamill on points, the takedown is really the only noteworthy thing that has happened. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Hamill.
Round 2
Hamill works an angle and comes in from the side of Gouveia, getting two good jabs in before a ragged left misses by quite a margin. Gouveia hits a low kick to back Hamill against the cage, then works the body with a series of short punches. Hamill fights out and the action returns to the center. They come together, both throwing punches. Gouveia gets a nice clean shot in, and Hamill stumbles backwards and falls to the floor. Gouveia is on top of him quickly, and unloads with two more big punches, both connect solidly. The referee jumps in and pulls him away before a third is thrown, this match is over by TKO. Replays show the referee may have been slightly early. Official time of the TKO is 2:43 of the second.
** Goveia with a nice win here and will help climb the stacked LHW division.
HW BOBBY LASHLEY (0-0) VS MARK COLEMAN (15-8)
Round 1
Coleman throws a nice series of straight rights from the start, bobbing and weaving to keep Lashley from landing anything in return. None of the punches got through though, Lashley parried them away. Nice crisp start to the round though. Lashley forces Coleman back against the cage and comes in close to try and unload. Coleman pushes him away with a shove, palm across the face, and Lashley loses his balance and is dumped onto the ground. Coleman leaps into action to follow up. A clubbing blow from Coleman connects, hitting home across the left cheek. Coleman gets into full mount, Lashley is in enormous trouble from this position. Right hands rain down, and Lashley can only cover up. One or two got through though, and there's blood coming from a cut below his left eye. Coleman pulls back and throws an absolute bomb, Lashley brought his hands up to block but could do almost nothing against it, that had power to spare. Lashley looks groggy, and that allows Coleman to start throwing a barrage of rights and lefts to the face. The referee has seen enough, he doesn't think Lashley can defend himself, this match is over. The official time of the TKO is 1:31 of round 1.
** Surpirse win here Mark Coleman comes in to show the pro wrestler this is a real sport, and you are no Brock Lesnar.
HW ALEX EMELIANENKO (13-3) VS AARON BRINK (21-17)
Round 1
Brink goes to the center, and immediately throws some jabs, looking to engage in a striking battle. Emelianenko doesn't commit though, instead circling and looking for an angle. Emelianenko comes in, ducks a right hand, then unleashes a flurry of punches. Brink covers up at first, then throws a scathing right hand, but Emelianenko is already out of range. Emelianenko repeats the trick, working a new angle, darting in, then firing off strikes while keeping out of the way of any counter punches. It happens a third time, and Brink is beginning to look frustrated. Emelianenko's footwork and general movement is looking good, Brink is being made to look very slow and lumbering in comparison. Furthermore, Emelianenko is being able to launch multiple short bursts of offense without really being in any danger, Brink has yet to hit any sort of meaningful punch, simply because Emelianenko is too quick. Brink finally gets in close enough to grapple with Emelianenko, clinching up. Brink scores a nice body punch, then steps back and goes for a vicious right hand, but Emelianenko bobs out of the way and hits a right hook of his own. Time is ticking away, and Brink is well behind in this round, he needs to do something special. Brink swings for the fences, but Emelianenko has no problem avoiding it. The round peters out. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Emelianenko.
Round 2
Brink starts out with a few straight rights, range-finding rather than actually dangerous. Emelianenko keeps out of their way. Brink steps forward and tries to unload with a looping left, but Emelianenko moves to the side and fires off a powerful right hand of his own, landing above the left eye. Brink doesn't go down, but definitely felt that shot. Emelianenko moves in closer and fires off two punches to the face and a big hook to the body. Brink parried the first two, but the third hit home hard. Emelianenko begins to stalk Brink, who may be slightly winded. They meet again in the center and exchange blows. Brink hits a high jab but gets caught with another hard punch to the side of the head. Brink clinches up, stopping Emelianenko from following up. It looks like Brink needs to change his game plan, standing up and banging with Emelianenko is playing right into his opponent's hands, as Emelianenko clearly has the more powerful strikes in his arsenal, and Brink is going to get floored sooner or later, judging by this round. The referee parts them from the clinch. Emelianenko continues to look ready to unleash some big punches. Brink takes a takedown, then comes in much closer, throws a jab, and clinches back up. Brink looks like he is going to grapple, stopping Emelianenko from throwing bombs. Brink gets in a few short punches to the ribs. The round ends with them still in the clinch. Emelianenko will take that round on points, having used the threat of a knock out to basically control everything about that round except the clinches. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-8 for Emelianenko.
Round 3
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Emelianenko puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Brink defended well. Straight right from Brink in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Emelianenko probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Brink gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Emelianenko. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Emelianenko. Aleksander Emelianenko wins the match, getting a score of 30-26 from all three judges.
* Not the most exiting win for Aleksander but a dominant performance.
LW MATT WIMAN (10-3) VS MANVEL GAMBURYAN (8-2)
Round 1
Slow start to the round. Not much happens before they wind up clinched together, struggling for supremacy. Wiman uses a trip to make a takedown, but doesn't go down himself, instead staying back. He pushes the raised legs away and dives in to get side control, but Gamburyan scrambles and manages to get up, pushing Wiman down to the ground. Gamburyan ends up on top, in guard. Gamburyan stands into a half-crouching position, dragging Wiman's guard with him. Wiman reaches up, parries away a couple of strikes, and tries to grab an arm to apply an armbar to. Gamburyan knocks the attempt away and nails a hard shot to the ribs before reaching over and trying to nail a downward punch to the chin. Wiman blocks it. Gamburyan floats over and gets into side control. Wiman scrambles to try and get back up, but is too close to the cage, which works against him. Gamburyan lays in a couple of punches to the chest to soften Wiman up, then tries to move up and isolate one of the arms. Wiman makes sure to bring his body around to give him as much protection as possible. It works, as Gamburyan can't get either arm isolated properly. Gamburyan changes tactics and tries to get into crucifix position. Wiman fights it for as long as he possibly can, but eventually gets caught. The length of struggle is, in itself, a good defence though, as the round ends before Gamburyan can do anything with the position he has achieved, which will frustrate him enormously. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Gamburyan.
Round 2
Gamburyan hits the first punch of the round, scoring with a jab to the cheek. Wiman throws a left hook in response, but it's well wide of the mark. Gamburyan steps in and hits a low kick. Wiman ignores it and shoots in for a takedown. Gamburyan saw it coming though, and defends it brilliantly, sprawling at first, then pushing Wiman face-down to the ground so that he can take his back. Wiman turtles up. Gamburyan hits a couple of hard shots to the body, but can't stop Wiman working his way up and turning over, pulling guard. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Gamburyan.
Round 3
Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. Gamburyan works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Wiman backed up against the cage. Gamburyan gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Wiman, who uses his legs well to defend. Gamburyan pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Wiman gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. Gamburyan follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. Gamburyan hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Wiman tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Wiman leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Gamburyan by 10-9. All three judges give a score of 30-27 to Manvel Gamburyan.
** Manveul with a nice win here.
MW MICHAEL BISPING (16-1) VS CHRIS LEBEN (18-4)
Round 1
Exchange of punches to start, nothing really hit though. They go into a clinch, and the pace disappears as both fighters try and get the advantage. Eventually the referee separates them. Jab from Bisping, who then has to react quickly to avoid a right hook that was aimed right at the chin. Bisping puts on a burst of energy and fires off a big sequence of punches, maybe twelve or thirteen in a row, although not many actually connected. Leben covered up well, and gets in a couple of shots of his own before moving out of range again. Leben glances at the referee, not sure why. Low kick from Leben, almost to the groin, although it didn't look intentional. They come together in a clinch again, and it returns to a stalemate. Not a great round by anyone's standard, but that flurry should mean that Bisping will take the round on points. End of round 1. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Bisping.
Round 2
The round starts slowly, with both fighters circling, tentatively throwing out the occasional jab. Leben is the first to make a positive move, stepping in to throw a right hand, although he probably wishes that he hadn't, as Bisping picks him off with a crisp jab to the cheek. Leben throws a wild punch as a counter, but Bisping ducks and backs off out of range. They meet again in the center for an exchange of punches. Leben gets a clubbing blow to the side of the head in, but takes a hard shot to the stomach in return. The early pattern seems to be that Leben is looking for big punches, Bisping is happy to avoid them and use quick counter punches instead. They clinch up, and Leben manages to back Bisping up against the cage. Leben takes a half step backward and throws a big right hand to the head, but Bisping ducks under at the last second, scores with a pair of punches to the gut, then darts out of trouble before Leben can unload. Leben may need to think about changing tactics, Bisping is looking far sharper in these striking battles, and is beginning to control the pace and tempo of the round. Leben fakes a right hand, then shoots out a low kick, catching Bisping on the thigh. Bisping presses forward for the first time, getting in close and using a couple of jabs to the body. Leben gets a nice left hook in, glancing off the gloves, and then clinches up. Time ticks away and the round ends just a few seconds after the referee separates them. End of round 2. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Bisping.
Round 3
Leben starts fast, coming out almost immediately with a three punch combination. None of them get through, and Bisping manages to squeeze a jab of his own through and score just above the left cheek. They exchange a flurry of blows right in the center, it's difficult to see who got the best of it, and both of them retreat a few steps to recover. Good start to the round, early indications are that this is going to be all about the striking, neither fighter has even hinted at going for a takedown. Bisping uses a low kick to set up a nice right hand, and Leben is forced back against the cage. Bisping picks his shots and gets a big punch to the body in. Leben uses a couple of looping punches to make Bisping keep back, but it doesn't last for long, as Bisping bursts forward and hits two big right hands, taking a counter punch to the body though, and they wind up in a clinch. They exchange weak-looking blows from that position, before the referee grows tired of the inactivity and breaks them apart. Leben scores with a low kick. Bisping with a body shot. Bisping unwinds a right hook that narrowly misses. That will be the last action of the round though. End of round 3. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Bisping. The official scores are in; two judges give 30-27, the other 29-28, all for Michael Bisping.
*** Great performance by Bisping and he climbs closer to a title shot.
LHW KEITH JARDINE (13-4-1) VS RICARDO ARONA (13-5)
Round 1
They meet in the center. Arona hits a nice jab, a second misses. Jardine steps in close and hits a brutal body shot, causing Arona to back up quickly. That was a really powerful shot. Jardine stalks Arona, flicking occasional jabs. It looks like Jardine wants to stand and trade punches with Arona. Jardine gets within striking distance and throws a bomb of a right hand, narrowly missing. Arona fires off a raking left hook in response, but that is off target too. They meet and exchange punches. Arona goes for the body, but gets tagged with a left hand to the side of the head. Arona is rattled by it, but doesn't step off, instead throwing a couple of crisp jabs. Jardine throws another big punch, this time thundering it into Arona's shoulder. They clinch. So far it looks like Arona simply can't live with the power that Jardine has in his hands, you get the sense that if this continues, Arona is going to wind up knocked out sooner or later. The clinch is broken, but within thirty seconds they are right back in it, this time leaning against the cage. By the time that is broken, the round only has a few seconds left. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Jardine by 10-9.
Round 2
Jardine starts brightly by throwing some looping punches. Defended well by Arona. They circle, throwing tentative jabs. Arona goes for a single leg and puts Jardine on the floor, but he is up very quickly, preventing Arona from getting on top. Jardine definitely seems to want to keep this standing. Arona hits a nice jab, avoids a counter left hook, then comes in low and takes down Jardine again. This time Jardine isn't able to get up, and has to pull guard. Times ticking away though, Arona will have to hurry to finish. He goes for an armbar, but Jardine defends. Arona tries to slip past to get side control, but Jardine just about manages to keep guard. A second attempt works though, and Arona has the side. Two big elbows land, and Jardine seems in trouble. Arona goes for the kimura, but can't quite get it. The time expires before he can try again, and the referee separates them. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Arona.
Round 3
Exchange of punches to start, nothing really hit though. They go into a clinch, and the pace disappears as both fighters try and get the advantage. Eventually the referee separates them. Jab from Jardine, who then has to react quickly to avoid a right hook that was aimed right at the chin. Jardine puts on a burst of energy and fires off a big sequence of punches, maybe twelve or thirteen in a row, although not many actually connected. Arona covered up well, and gets in a couple of shots of his own before moving out of range again. Arona narrowly misses a right cross. Low kick from Arona, almost to the groin, although it didn't look intentional. They come together in a clinch again, and it returns to a stalemate. Not a great round by anyone's standard, but that flurry should mean that Jardine will take the round on points. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Jardine. Keith Jardine wins the match, getting a score of 29-28 from all three judges.
** Jardine shows again he can grind a victory against top competition, but his jaw is still suspect.

UFC 88: GUNFIRE
LHW HOUSTON ALEXANDER VS JAMES LEE
Round 1
Not much happening at first. Lee is the first to make a move, coming in with a right hand that narrowly misses. Alexander gets in a jab that landed on the left cheek of Lee, and leaves a mark. Quite a slow paced round so far. Lee takes another jab and moves in to retaliate, but it was a set-up and he gets creamed with a high right kick to the side of the head! Lee stumbles but doesn't go down, and has to cover up as Alexander comes in with a series of punches to try and finish the job. Lee somehow manages to hold on long enough to get his senses back, and buys some time by clinching. Hard knee from Lee from the clinch, and Alexander felt that, he looks a little tired from unloading that barrage. They break, and Lee gets in a nice right hand. Alexander throws out a few jabs, nothing too dangerous though, Lee easily avoided them. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Alexander.
Round 2
There's a few minor exchanges of punches to start the round, and Alexander gets the better of them. Neither fighter is throwing any bombs, but Alexander is showing the better technique, and has hit a few nice body shots. They come together again, and Alexander shows quick hands to get in three nice shots. Lee definitely felt them. Neither fighter seems interested in taking this to the ground, they're just circling, throwing a few punches, then regrouping. Lee is struggling to inflict much damage. He may need to switch tactics, as so far Alexander is looking very comfortable. Lee comes in with left, but Alexander saw it coming and slipped in a great right hand counter punch. Lee is getting frustrated. The remainder of the round is no different, as the occasional exchanges of strikes are clearly go the way of Alexander's superior technique. End of round 2. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Alexander.
Round 3
Slow start to this round, Alexander is being tentative and Lee looks like he is waiting for an angle to appear. The first exchange of strikes doesn't really go anywhere. A second set falls in Alexander's favour, as he gets a nice jab in, hitting right above the nose, and a solid shot to the body. Lee goes in for a takedown but only manages to secure one leg. Alexander hammers down two shots to the back, but can't really do a lot else. Lee tries to push him over onto his back, but Alexander manages to pull free and back off. Lee throws a high left handed jab then goes in for another takedown. Good sprawl from Alexander, and he backs off. Lee doesn't get a chance to go for a third, because Alexander takes the fight to him with a barrage of lefts and rights, forcing him back against the cage. Alexander clinches up, only after hitting a hard shot to the stomach though. The clinch seems to go on forever, with Lee unable to get a good enough position to try a takedown, and Alexander tied up too much to really throw any decent strikes. Eventually the time runs out and they head back to their corners. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Alexander. All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Houston Alexander.
** I don’t know why anyone would want to stand with Alexander, Alexander improves with a win.
WW JOSH BURKMAN VS JON KOPPENHAVER
Round 1
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Koppenhaver puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Burkman defended well. Straight right from Burkman in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Koppenhaver probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Burkman gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Koppenhaver. That's the end of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Koppenhaver by 10-9.
Round 2
Slow start; nearly a full minute of circling, occasional fakes, and long-range jabs. Neither fighter is creating much. Burkman works an angle, but takes a low kick to the shin when he advances. They clinch, and end up with Koppenhaver backed up against the cage. Burkman gets a couple of right hands to the body, but his attempts at knee strikes are deflected by Koppenhaver, who uses his legs well to defend. Burkman pulls free and takes a step back, then powers in a right hand. Koppenhaver gets out the way, ducks under a second right hand, and backs up to the center. Burkman follows, and we're back to circling. Uninspiring action so far, they've both been fairly devoid of inspiration. Burkman hits a couple of right hands, both hitting gloves, then a left hand to the body that connected. That was the best shot of the round so far. Koppenhaver tags him with a flicked jab to the cheek, but it had virtually no power on it. Koppenhaver leans in to a looping left, but it puts him off balance and it's only at the last second that he gets his chin out of the way of a vicious right cross that comes back. If that had hit, we may have had a knock out. Time runs out with them standing, circling again. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Burkman.
Round 3
Koppenhaver leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Burkman deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Burkman uses a knee to the ribs before backing Koppenhaver up against the cage. Right hand from Koppenhaver connects though, that was well timed. Burkman breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Koppenhaver was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Burkman sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Koppenhaver fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Burkman clinches with Koppenhaver. A quick trip sends Koppenhaver falling backward, pulling guard to take Burkman down with him. Burkman drops a bomb of a right hand, smashing into the hands of Koppenhaver and forcing them back into his face. Another right hand finds its way through, landing right above the eye, stunning Koppenhaver. With his opponent's wits scrambled, Burkman moves from the guard into a mount with ease, and starts unloading with rights and lefts. Koppenhaver tries to cover up, but is getting decimated, and the referee is forced to come in and pull Burkman off, signalling the win. The official time of the TKO is 3:47 of round 3.
* Josh Burkman puts a stop to War Machine, still has a long way to go in this division.
HW CHRIS TUCHSCHERER VS AUSSUERIO SILVA
Round 1
Very, very slow start to the round. Over a minute has gone before the first meaningful strike connects. It's Silva who hits it, scoring with a shot to the chest. Tuchscherer fires back with a couple of jabs, both of which connect with the shoulder rather than the face where they were aimed. The two fighters come together in the center and exchange punches, neither getting the clear advantage. Tuchscherer suddenly shoots in and goes for a takedown, but Silva manages to sprawl long enough to get them all the way back to the cage, which keeps him upright. Tuchscherer tries to complete the takedown, but realises that the leverage isn't there and instead stands and clinches. Silva hits a couple of shots to the back. Tuchscherer hits a stomp. Silva lifts his leg to go for a knee, but that gives Tuchscherer the opportunity to lift him and slam him down to the ground. That was a hard slam! Tuchscherer is on top, almost sitting on top of a balled-up Silva. He throws some hard downward punches, Silva defends most of them, although one hits hard above the eye. Tuchscherer leaves his arm in for a second too long and Silva reaches up and almost gets an armbar. Tuchscherer gets free though, although the effort puts him off-balance enough for him to stumble, giving Silva the opportunity to scramble back up. There's a nasty mark above the eye where the earlier punch connected though. They go back to circling each other. There's not much time left. Silva tries one last big attack, swinging for the fences with two bombs, but Tuchscherer avoids both, adding a nice shot to the stomach after the second dodge. The round ends there. The round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to Tuchscherer by 10-9.
Round 2
Right hand from Silva was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Tuchscherer. Silva follows up by coming in close, but Tuchscherer is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. Tuchscherer pushes Silva up against the cage in a clinch. Tuchscherer throws a knee, then a couple of short punches to the side of the head. Silva pushes him away and steps in to score with an uppercut. Tuchscherer took it flush on the chin and is rocked! Another right hand drops Tuchscherer against the cage, and Silva follows up by unloading with a barrage of punches. The referee gets in and pulls Silva away, he wins the match by TKO. Silva wins via 2nd round TKO with the official time being 1:30.
* Silva with a solid TKO here
WW CHRIS LYTLE VS MARCUS DAVIS
Round 1
Exchange of punches to start, nothing really hit though. They go into a clinch, and the pace disappears as both fighters try and get the advantage. Eventually the referee separates them. Jab from Davis, who then has to react quickly to avoid a right hook that was aimed right at the chin. Davis puts on a burst of energy and fires off a big sequence of punches, maybe twelve or thirteen in a row, although not many actually connected. Lytle covered up well, and gets in a couple of shots of his own before moving out of range again. About thirty seconds pass without any contact, and the crowd become a little restless. Low kick from Lytle, almost to the groin, although it didn't look intentional. They come together in a clinch again, and it returns to a stalemate. Not a great round by anyone's standard, but that flurry should mean that Davis will take the round on points. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Davis by 10-9.
Round 2
The fighters come together right in the center. Lytle throws out a jab, but Davis bobs out of the way and uses a right hand to glance a blow off the side of the ribs in response. Davis works an angle and storms in suddenly with three crisp jabs and a looping overhand punch, Lytle covered up quickly but at least one of the jabs hit home. Davis is making Lytle look sluggish in comparison, such is the speed and crispness with which he is delivering strikes. Lytle hits a low kick before back-pedalling to avoid a clubbing blow. Lytle looks for an opening. They meet in the center to exchange a flurry of strikes that gets the crowd on their feet. Davis got slightly the better of it, he definitely snuck through a right hand that rocked Lytle slightly. Lytle initiates a clinch, and the action grinds to a halt. Lytle looks out of ideas, he is being repeatedly lured into these exchange of strikes, but Davis is clearly winning them. Lytle needs to find some way to deal with them. Not much time left in this round. The referee separates them. Davis tries a speculative high kick, but Lytle saw it coming and was well out of range by the time it came. Lytle tries to work an angle, but Davis is having none of it and fires off a straight right hand to keep him from stepping in. Comfortable round for Davis, he will probably be disappointed not to have done more damage given his dominance of the striking in this round. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Davis.
Round 3
Lytle starts the round by throwing some low kicks. Davis checks them, then comes in and clearly wants to trade punches. Lytle doesn't seem too bothered by that, and they enter into the first exchange of punches of the round. Difficult to say who came out on top, neither of them did a great deal of damage, most of the shots hit the opponent's gloves. Lytle cleverly head-fakes, allowing him the time and angle that he needed to catch Davis with a beauty of a right hook. Davis stumbles backward, but doesn't go down. Lytle presses the advantage by following in with a kick, then a right hand. Davis clinches. They remain clinched for a while. Davis scores with a nice knee, it appeared to catch Lytle in the gut. Lytle uses a single leg trip and takes the fight to the ground. Lytle gets to side control upon impact, and immediately goes for an armbar. Davis reacts quickly, but is in real danger. Lytle has his left arm straightened out, fortunately Davis has managed to roll and get a good position that is stopping Lytle from getting the leverage needed to apply an armlock. Lytle tries to step over and fully apply it, but Davis breaks free and gets him to back off with a couple of up-kicks. Lytle steps back and motions for him to stand up. They go back to circling in the center. Davis hits a nice right hand, but takes one back too. The time runs down; Lytle will probably get that round on points, he hit the best punch of the round, and got the only takedown, plus was the one who was working toward a submission. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Lytle. The judges scores are unanimous, and give a score of 29-28 to Marcus Davis.
* Pretty boring fight but Davis gets a hugh win here
LW KENNY FLORIAN VS RICH CLEMENTI
Round 1
The two fighters circle. A series of looping punches from Florian forces Clementi back up against the cage, and he has to cover up to withstand the three strikes that follow. No real damage caused, but Florian is aggressively chasing this match. A hook finds the body and Clementi clinches. They almost lose their balance as they jockey for position, Clementi gets in a couple of knees when they regain their footing. Florian seems to be trying to break the clinch, it's Clementi who is holding it tight, perhaps hoping to calm the energetic start that Florian had. The referee finally does break them up, after nearly a full minute of inactivity. Clementi scores with a kick to the outside of the thigh, but it didn't have a great deal of power on it. Florian returns fire with a jab, and then tries for a takedown. Clementi doesn't pull guard, but instead tries to spin out of it and get back to his feet, but it proves to be a mistake as he isn't able to get free and only ends up giving his back to Florian! Clementi turtles up, and takes a few heavy shots to the ribs. Florian gets his legs around Clementi and uses them to roll him over. Exposed, Clementi tries to turn so that he is on top, but Florian has already rammed one arm around his throat and has a tight choke-hold applied. Clementi is in big trouble, and obviously can't see a way out as he taps out pretty quickly. The official time is 3:15.
** Kenny just finishes fights, on his way up to a title sot. To bad the LW division is so stacked right now
WW DIEGO SANCHEZ VS HAYA TO SAURAI
Round 1
Two jabs from the left hand of Sakurai set up a hard waist-high kick, but Sanchez steps back to avoid it. Nice attempt though. Sakurai moves in closer, bobbing and weaving, and looks to score with a looping right hand, but Sanchez uses the gloves to parry it away, then counter-strikes with a crisp jab and a kick to the knee. Good opening to the round, both fighters are looking lively. Sakurai finds himself backed up against the cage briefly, and has to scramble to safety to avoid a flurry of strikes. Sanchez is working for position, and is currently looking the more composed of the two. They clinch, although it's an ugly-looking one. Sanchez forces his way to the side, still grappling for supremacy, and then manages to get all the way behind. Sakurai gave up his back quite easily. Sanchez takes Sakurai down with a variation on the suplex, but Sakurai keeps his wits and makes sure that he is able to pull guard pretty quickly upon landing. Sakurai is trying to turn. Sanchez fires off a big punch, and it connects right on the point of the chin. Sakurai goes limp, he is out cold from one brutal shot, Sanchez manages to get the knock out from the guard position. The referee leaps in and makes sure that Sanchez doesn't throw any more bombs. The official time of the knock out is 2:40 of round 1.
** Impressive win for Sanchez and outstanding knockout, I didn’t think Sanchez would pull out a win here.
MW JASON MILLER VS RICH FRANKLIN
Round 1
Franklin is the first to score a meaningful blow, tagging Miller with a jab to the cheek. Miller uses a nice straight left to return fire. Franklin comes in to work the body, but Miller saw it coming and uses a quick takedown to put Franklin onto the floor, falling into guard. Miller passes guard and gets into side control, but it's an awkward position; Franklin has the entire right hand side of his body up against the cage, and both his legs wrapped around Miller's left arm. Miller's attacking options are fairly limited. He uses a couple of back fists to strike away at the face, but Franklin covers up to defend them. Miller tries to pin down one of Franklin's arms and bring his legs around to trap them fully, but Franklin uses his free arm to stop that from happening. The ground battle enters a stalemate, as Miller finds himself unable to do any real damage other than occasional strikes, which he doesn't have the leverage to get much power behind, with virtually no chance of gaining a submission thanks to his left arm being trapped. The referee eventually stands them up, and the time expires before anything interesting can happen with them standing. The first round is over. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Miller.
Round 2
An exchange of strikes in the center starts the round, both fighers hit nice jabs amongst the flurry of punches. They end up clinched. Franklin hits a punch to the ribs, and takes one back in return. Miller pushes forward and the rush causes Franklin to stumble and get taken down, pulling guard as they hit the ground. Miller stands into a half-crouching position, dragging Franklin's guard with him. Franklin reaches up, parries away a couple of strikes, and tries to grab an arm to apply an armbar to. Miller knocks the attempt away and nails a hard shot to the ribs before reaching over and trying to nail a downward punch to the chin. Franklin blocks it. Miller floats over and gets into side control. Franklin scrambles to try and get back up, but is too close to the cage, which works against him. Miller lays in a couple of punches to the chest to soften Franklin up, then tries to move up and isolate one of the arms. Franklin makes sure to bring his body around to give him as much protection as possible. It works, as Miller can't get either arm isolated properly. Miller changes tactics and tries to get into crucifix position. Franklin fights it for as long as he possibly can, but eventually gets caught. The length of struggle is, in itself, a good defence though, as the round ends before Miller can do anything with the position he has achieved, which will frustrate him enormously. End of round 2. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Miller.
Round 3
Good start from Miller, taking Franklin down almost immediately! Franklin scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Miller will be disappointed with that. Franklin comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Miller to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Franklin felt that one for sure. He stalks Miller, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Miller keeps out of the way. Franklin tries a kick, but Miller catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Miller gets Franklin down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Miller throws some punches, then tries to pass. Franklin doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Miller easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Miller followed by a pass attempt, with Franklin blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. The 3rd round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Miller. All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Jason Miller.
** Usually unless your name is Anderson Silva, Franklin wins. Making this win for Jason Miller all that more impressive.
MW MATT LINDLAND VS NATE MARQURDT
Round 1
The two fighters meet in the center with an exchange of jabs, but neither gets anything but gloves or air. They go right into a clinch, with only a few seconds of the match gone. Marquardt gets a knee to the ribs in, but it wasn't particularly hard. They break. The two fighters are circling. Marquardt comes in for a punch, but Lindland countered well by coming in fast and low and using a good solid takedown. Lindland is in Marquardt's guard. Lindland manages to push the guard apart, and leans over Marquardt, trapping one leg underneath his body. Bad position for Marquardt to be in, and Lindland now starts throwing big lefts and rights. Marquardt tries to deflect them away but quite a few are hitting home. Marquardt tries to bring his free leg in to add some leverage, but Lindland swats it aside and gets the full mount. More punches start raining down, and Marquardt is left just covering up to try and weather the storm. It's no use though, as the barrage of punches without answer convince the referee to call a halt to the action. Official time of the TKO is 1:24 of the first round.
** Matt Lindand was dominate as he should be, getting close to a match up with Silva.
LW GILBERT MELENDEZ VS LUCIANO AZVEDO
Round 1
They circle to begin the round. Melendez throws two short jabs, then a long-range looping right hand. Azevedo had to be on his toes to get out of the way, and does. Melendez goes to follow up, and narrowly avoids walking right into a right cross. He bobs underneath it, then comes in fast with a right hand. Azevedo parries it with his gloves, then shoots in and scores with a nice takedown. Melendez tries to sprawl, but was too late and can only pull guard as he crash-lands to the ground. Azevedo stands into a half-crouching position, dragging Melendez's guard with him. Melendez reaches up, parries away a couple of strikes, and tries to grab an arm to apply an armbar to. Azevedo knocks the attempt away and nails a hard shot to the ribs before reaching over and trying to nail a downward punch to the chin. Melendez blocks it. Azevedo floats over and gets into side control. Melendez scrambles to try and get back up, but is too close to the cage, which works against him. Azevedo lays in a couple of punches to the chest to soften Melendez up, then tries to move up and isolate one of the arms. Melendez makes sure to bring his body around to give him as much protection as possible. It works, as Azevedo can't get either arm isolated properly. Azevedo changes tactics and tries to get into crucifix position. Melendez fights it for as long as he possibly can, but eventually gets caught. The length of struggle is, in itself, a good defence though, as the round ends before Azevedo can do anything with the position he has achieved, which will frustrate him enormously. End of the round. Blurcat.com gives that one to Azevedo by 10-9.
Round 2
Tentative start, neither fighter is willing to commit yet. Azevedo fires off a jab, but it was easily blocked. Melendez fakes a kick, then comes in hard and fast with a takedown, sending Azevedo to the floor. The momentum causes Melendez to almost go completely over the top though, and Azevedo is able to flip him to the side and end up on top, in the guard position. The round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Azevedo.
Round 3
Azevedo is quickest out, and comes at Melendez with a series of jabs and straight punches. Melendez covered up well, and I don't think anything got through. Melendez hits a body shot, but it didn't connect solidly. They get in close, and it's Azevedo who takes it to the ground. Melendez pulls guard. There's a lull, as Azevedo tries to pass, and Melendez defends it. Punches get thrown every so often, but it's really a stalemate at the moment. Melendez almost gets a guillotine, but it's blocked and almost leads to a kimura for Azevedo, but that too goes nowhere. The referee stands them up, but the time is almost over. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Azevedo. All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Luciano Azevedo.
** Luciano Azevendo has a good win over a name LW. Melendez continues on his losing streak.
LHW Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton Jackson
Round 1
Jackson starts the round by throwing some low kicks. Silva checks them, then comes in and clearly wants to trade punches. Jackson doesn't seem too bothered by that, and they enter into the first exchange of punches of the round. Difficult to say who came out on top, neither of them did a great deal of damage, most of the shots hit the opponent's gloves. Jackson cleverly head-fakes, allowing him the time and angle that he needed to catch Silva with a beauty of a right hook. Silva stumbles backward, but doesn't go down. Jackson presses the advantage by following in with a kick, then a right hand. Silva clinches. They remain clinched for a while. Silva scores with a nice knee, it appeared to catch Jackson in the gut. Jackson uses a single leg trip and takes the fight to the ground. Jackson gets to side control upon impact, and immediately goes for an armbar. Silva reacts quickly, but is in real danger. Jackson has his left arm straightened out, fortunately Silva has managed to roll and get a good position that is stopping Jackson from getting the leverage needed to apply an armlock. Jackson tries to step over and fully apply it, but Silva breaks free and gets him to back off with a couple of up-kicks. Jackson steps back and motions for him to stand up. They go back to circling in the center. Silva hits a nice right hand, but takes one back too. The time runs down; Jackson will probably get that round on points, he hit the best punch of the round, and got the only takedown, plus was the one who was working toward a submission. The round ends. Blurcat.com gives that one to Jackson by 10-9.
Round 2
Silva doesn't waste any time and throws two jabs to the face, but Jackson easily side-steps both and circles to the left. Jackson throws a head fake, then comes in fast from an angle with a looping punch, but misses and takes a glancing shot to the shoulder from a left hand counter. They are circling, then come in close. Both fighters are tentatively looking for the chance to strike. Jackson is the first to go for it, throwing a three-punch combination. Silva covered up well, taking very little damage. Jackson goes to throw a bomb, but gets clipped with a right hand before it can connect. He felt that. Silva steps in and throws a bomb of his own, and it crunches into the side of the cheek of Jackson, who goes down! Replays show the shock wave passing through his entire body as that powerful punch connected. What a strike! Silva wins this by a brutally clean knock out. Silva wins via knock out at 1:33 of the second round.
**** Awesome fight with a great finish.
HW CROP COP VS RANDY COUTURE
Round 1
Tentative start to the round by both fighters, neither looks willing to commit themselves and make the first mistake. Cro Cop stalks Couture, working him back toward the cage. There's an exchange of strikes...and Cro Cop is down! Couture goes to finish it, but gets sucked into the guard position. Replays show that Couture stunned Cro Cop with a nice straight right to the cheek during the earlier flurry, and that's what dropped him. Couture tries to move quickly into side control, but Cro Cop isn't letting that happen. Cro Cop reaches up and tries to grab an arm, but takes a right hand to the cheek in response. Couture tries to power him way through, raining down four or five hammer fists, but Cro Cop covered up well. Couture pushes a leg down and moves to the side, but Cro Cop spins out. Couture moves with him though and gets his back! No, Cro Cop scrambled like crazy and manages to turn right back over and pull guard again. That was an exciting sequence though, and the fans enjoyed it. Couture won't be pleased that he had both side control and the back, but didn't hold onto either for more than a few seconds. The fight unfortunately enters a lull, as Couture punctuates unsuccessful attempts to pass guard with easily defended jabs. The referee eventually gets them back up to their feet due to inactivity. Not much time left in the round though. Cro Cop will need to do something a bit special to avoid losing the round on points. He tries just that, throwing a big right hand and a high kick, but Couture backs off, safe in the knowledge that he has won this round. The time expires. End of round 1. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Couture.
Round 2
Cro Cop starts brightly by throwing some looping punches. Defended well by Couture. They circle, throwing tentative jabs. Couture goes for a single leg and puts Cro Cop on the floor, but he is up very quickly, preventing Couture from getting on top. Cro Cop definitely seems to want to keep this standing. Couture hits a nice jab, avoids a counter left hook, then comes in low and takes down Cro Cop again. This time Cro Cop isn't able to get up, and has to pull guard. Times ticking away though, Couture will have to hurry to finish. He goes for an armbar, but Cro Cop defends. Couture tries to slip past to get side control, but Cro Cop just about manages to keep guard. A second attempt works though, and Couture has the side. Two big elbows land, and Cro Cop seems in trouble. Couture goes for the kimura, but can't quite get it. The time expires before he can try again, and the referee separates them. The round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Couture.
Round 3
Cro Cop is the first to score a meaningful blow, tagging Couture with a jab to the cheek. Couture uses a nice straight left to return fire. Cro Cop comes in to work the body, but Couture saw it coming and uses a quick takedown to put Cro Cop onto the floor, falling into guard. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Couture. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Randy Couture.
*** Who doesn’t like to see Couture grind out a win over a man who should beat him.
LW BJ PENN VS JZ CALVANCANTE
Round 1
Calvancante works an angle and comes in from the side of Penn, getting two good jabs in before a ragged left misses by quite a margin. Penn hits a low kick to back Calvancante against the cage, then works the body with a series of short punches. Calvancante fights out and the action returns to the center. Calvancante throws a combination but gets smothered into a clinch. They back up against the cage. Penn hits a wicked uppercut, taking Calvancante completely by surprise, then starts wailing away with lefts and rights. Calvancante can only cover up against the ferocious attack, but that doesn't stop a couple of big shots landing. More shots rain down, and Calvancante is getting obliterated, he can't throw any counter punches as he can't move his hands down without getting hit again, and he can't get past Penn to safety either. The referee finally sees enough and covers Calvancante up. Penn wins via 1st round TKO with the official time being 2:16. BJ Penn retains the UFC Lightweight title.
** BJ finishes JZ in great fashion to show the rest of the LW he is the champion and it won’t be easy to take it from him.

ok so here is the situation. I realize now this type of format can be diffiuclt to work with. I just got a request for Wanderlai Silva VS Forrest Griffen for the title. and Randy Couture VS Fedor. Well both Silvia and Randy are out four months so that put a halt to the other two fighters. here is some ideas I have to resolve this.
1. The fights go as asked for (You pick it you get it)
2. You get to name a number one contender ( So if there is a long resting period the champ can still defend in but the winner will fight the contender)
3. I give you a list of champions ready to fight this month and you pick it so.
Just looking for the input to try and give people what they want. The idea now is
Rashad Evans VS Forrest Grrifen LHW title winner fight s Wanderlai.
Fedor vs Big nog winner fights Randy.
So what do you guys think??

I like the number one contender idea. We can pick the number one contender out of the top 5 contenders for a title and then you set the title match up as soon as its possible.

I also like the number one contender idea.

I guess there goes my idea of creating a fighter and giving him a title shot at 0-0. If the UFC keeps up their current pace it could happen one day...

ok so now when you win a ppv pick you get to pick a number one contender in any division to be first ( or second depending on wait times) for a title shot.

LW JORGE GRUGEL VS TERRY ETIM
Round 1
Nice fast-paced start from Gurgel, who gets right in Etim's face from the beginning of the round, throwing some crisp jabs and then a vicious uppercut. The two jabs got parried, the uppercut missed as Etim side-stepped. Etim fires back with a left hand, then a right to the body. Gurgel steps in, but only into a waist-high kick from Etim. Gurgel is quick though, and manages to catch it around the knee. Using it as leverage, Gurgel sweeps Etim's standing leg and takes them to the ground. Etim quickly pulls guard. Gurgel doggedly tries to pass guard, but Etim keeps him at bay. The referee tells them that he wants to see more in the way of action or he'll stand them up. Not much of an incentive for Etim to do anything, but it does inspire Gurgel to throw a couple of hard punches, albeit ones that are easily parried by the gloves of Etim. Gurgel manages to work past Etim's right leg, but gets caught in half guard before he can get the mount that he was looking for. The fight once again slows right down, with Etim's tenacious defence frustrating Gurgel. Etim sucks Gurgel into a clinch, and even tries a cheeky guillotine. Gurgel pushes him away though, and nails a beauty of a right hand to the cheek in response. I don't think Etim will be trying that move again for a while. Gurgel grabs an arm and tries to twist it backward to create some torque. Etim uses his free arm to grab his own wrist, preventing that from happening. The time expires without anything further of note happening. End of round 1. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Gurgel.
Round 2
Good start from Gurgel, taking Etim down almost immediately! Etim scrambles though, and gets back to his feet without taking any damage at all. Gurgel will be disappointed with that. Etim comes in and throws two big right hands, but neither connects, and they put him off balance, allowing Gurgel to score with a nice right hook to the side of the head, crunching into the top of the ear. Etim felt that one for sure. He stalks Gurgel, trying to back him up against the cage. It doesn't work though, Gurgel keeps out of the way. Etim tries a kick, but Gurgel catches the foot and uses it for a trip. Gurgel gets Etim down for the second time, and this time is right on top of him in guard position. Gurgel throws some punches, then tries to pass. Etim doesn't allow it, and tries to grab an armbar in response. Gurgel easily stops that, and throws some more punches. That becomes the pattern, as the fight falls into a predictable pattern; punches from Gurgel followed by a pass attempt, with Etim blocking the pass and throwing the occasional punch in response. The round ends like that, just as the referee was about to stand them back up. End of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Gurgel.
Round 3
Quick start to the round from Etim, he comes storming in with a flurry of jabs. Gurgel defends it well, parrying them away. Nice straight right from Gurgel connects. Etim gets in close and hits a pair of nice body shots, then they clinch up. Etim pushes Gurgel back against the cage and goes for a trip, but Gurgel blocks it. Gurgel suddenly pushes forward off the cage and uses the momentum to take Etim down to the ground, into guard. End of round 3. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Gurgel. All three judges give a score of 30-27 to Jorge Gurgel.
- * Nice win by Gurgel, Noone gave him a shot against Etim but he out worked him for three rounds.
WW ANOTNIO MCKEE VS TONY DESOUZA
Round 1
McKee starts fast, squeezing a jab past the guard and catching DeSouza above the right eye. DeSouza swings and misses with a big right hand, which puts him off balance long enough for McKee to floor him with a hard left. McKee goes to follow up, but gets caught in the guard position. The replay shows that the punch wasn't actually that powerful, it looked worse than it was because DeSouza was already falling slightly. McKee fires off a couple of tentative punches, testing out the guard of DeSouza. McKee tries to pass the guard, but can't, DeSouza isn't going to let him get a better position, as he knows that McKee will start raining down punches. McKee tries a big right hand, but it's easily defended. DeSouza gets a punch of his own in, but it didn't connect properly. McKee again tries to get past the guard, but again is foiled. It's turned into a bit of a stalemate, although the referee probably won't stand them up as long as the punches continue to flow. McKee fakes an elbow before trying to pass the guard for a third time, and briefly has side mount, but DeSouza fought it hard and gets back to guard within seconds. Butterfly guard by DeSouza, and McKee is having trouble generating any attacking threat. He'll probably win the round as he has been more aggressive, but DeSouza has defended the danger well. End of round 1. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 McKee.
Round 2
DeSouza is quickest out, and comes at McKee with a series of jabs and straight punches. McKee covered up well, and I don't think anything got through. McKee hits a body shot, but it didn't connect solidly. They get in close, and it's DeSouza who takes it to the ground. McKee pulls guard. There's a lull, as DeSouza tries to pass, and McKee defends it. Punches get thrown every so often, but it's really a stalemate at the moment. McKee almost gets a guillotine, but it's blocked and almost leads to a kimura for DeSouza, but that too goes nowhere. The referee stands them up, but the time is almost over. The second round is over. Blurcat.com gives that one to DeSouza by 10-9.
Round 3
Tentative start to the round by both fighters, neither looks willing to commit themselves and make the first mistake. DeSouza stalks McKee, working him back toward the cage. There's an exchange of strikes...and DeSouza is down! McKee goes to finish it, but gets sucked into the guard position. Replays show that McKee stunned DeSouza with a nice straight right to the cheek during the earlier flurry, and that's what dropped him. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for McKee. The official scores are: 29-28 from all three judges for Antonio McKee.
** Nice win my McKee working his way up the division.
MW DAMIEN MAIA VS CB DOLLOWAY
Round 1
Maia and Dollaway meet in the center, and both throw looping right hands at the same time. Neither hits home. Maia throws a couple of nice jabs that cause Dollaway to cover up. He throws a sharp right hand in response which narrowly misses. They clinch in the center. Dollaway tries to trip Maia, but it is easily dealt with, and Maia cheekily does the exact same thing to Dollaway, except with more success. Dollaway goes crashing to the ground with Maia on top. Maia tries to grab an arm to work a submission, but Dollaway is defending it well by using short, sharp strikes to keep him back. Maia tries to pass the guard, but has no luck. A punch from Maia connects, but there was no real power behind it. Maia fakes Dollaway out cleverly, and slips to a half mount. Dollaway manages to hit a firm elbow, then is forced to defend the full mount attempt. Maia switches tactics and tries to work a kimura on the other arm, but Dollaway blocks it, squirms his leg free, and secures the guard again. Maia looks frustrated at losing the half mount after having worked so hard to get it in the first place. Dollaway is liable to lose the round on points, but he has done a fine job of defending the submissions attempts so far. Maia tries to secure a leglock, but the guard is tight and Dollaway is safe. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Maia.
Round 2
The round starts with some tentative striking. Both fighters look to be using their strikes merely to keep the opponent off-balance while they work for an angle for a takedown, rather than actually trying to inflict too much damage. Dollaway goes for the first takedown, but Maia has it well-scouted and they merely end up in a clinch. They tussle, ending up all the way back against the cage. Both fighters try trips, but neither gets anything. Finally, the referee steps in and separates them. Maia storms back in almost immediately and takes Dollaway down, into guard. It's hard to say whether that was just a good takedown or whether Dollaway just had a lapse in concentration. Maia tries to pass the guard but can't, with Dollaway employing a rubber guard now. There's a definite stalemate, Dollaway is defending very well but isn't really offering any attacking threat or really trying to get out of this predicament. Maia makes a big effort to pass, and manages to get to half guard, but Dollaway has him tied up pretty well all the same. Time is ticking away, what has been a very tame round looks set to end without much in the way of highlights. It'll have to go to Maia on points, the takedown is really the only noteworthy thing that has happened. The round is over. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Maia.
Round 3
Dollaway doesn't hold back, starting by immediately shooting in for a takedown. Maia sprawls and keeps him at bay. Dollaway pushes harder, but Maia has the much better position and manages to flip him over, putting Dollaway on his back. Maia gets sucked into his guard though. Maia tries to pass guard, but Dollaway doesn't allow it. Dollaway throws a couple of punches, but they're parried away. He breaks his guard to bring a leg across and try to kick Maia in the face, but it's a mistake as Maia pushes the leg aside and gets side control. Maia pushes them closer to the cage, near his own corner so that they can give him instructions. Following what they say, Maia throws some heavy blows to the unprotected stomach of Dollaway, then tries to isolate the closest arm. Dollaway frantically tries to stop that happening, but does indeed give it up. He does manage to roll to the side, giving himself some good leverage and preventing Maia from extending the arm. Maia continues trying to apply an armbar, but Dollaway is not allowing it. Eventually Maia turns and tries to get a crucifix position instead. Dollaway fights that off too. The round ends with Maia still doggedly trying to get an armbar submission, and Dollaway tenaciously stopping it. End of the round. Blurcat.com scores 10-9 Maia. The three judges all give the match as 30-27 to Demian Maia.
* Demian Maia remains undefeated and CB Dollaway gets what he deserves talking in third person. There is only one man who can get away tlking in third person and that is The Rock, you sir are no Rock.
LHW VALENTINO PETRESCU VS TIM BOETSCH
Round 1
Right hand from Boetsch was thrown with power, but bounced off the gloves of Petrescu. Boetsch follows up by coming in close, but Petrescu is ready with a straight right hand that glances off the side of the head. For a second it looked like Petrescu was about to go for a takedown, but nothing came from it. Petrescu leads with a right hand, then comes in for a quick takedown. Boetsch saw it coming and smartly turns out of the grapple, pushing Petrescu to the ground, and ending up taking his back in a great defensive move. Petrescu tries to fight out of it, but Boetsch keeps position well. Hard shot to the ribs by Boetsch. Can he capitalise on this great position though? He tries to apply a choke hold, but Petrescu defends it. However, in doing so, he leaves his left arm exposed, and Boetsch is able to float over and trap it inbetween his legs. Boetsch falls forward and pulls, forcing Petrescu to tap out rather than have his arm hyper-extended. The official time of the armbar submission is 1:53 of round 1.
* good first round submission by Boetsch who shows he is not just a guyh who can throw you on your head.
MW GEGARD MOUSASI VS NATE QUARRY
Round 1
The round begins, and it is Mousasi who starts better, energetically bounding straight into action by throwing a three-punch combination and a scything leg kick. Quarry defended all four blows well, but is forced to be on the backfoot right from the word go. Mousasi works for an angle, coming in from the left hand side with a high right hand. Quarry ducks under it and nestles a stiff jab in the solar plexus. It doesn't seem to slow Mousasi down much though, as he swiftly turns and hits a crisp left to the side of the head, followed almost instantly by a mid-level kick that smacks above the hip of Quarry. Interesting first minute of action, Mousasi is looking particularly sharp. Quarry tries to turn the momentum by advancing quickly and driving Mousasi back against the cage with a series of jabs and hooks, and they end up clinched. Quarry tries a knee from that position, but it is blocked. Mousasi scores with two sharp blows to the ribs, and then they break away from each other. Quarry looks to be working an angle. They square up to each other in the center. Mousasi throws a head fake and comes in from low down to hit a rising shot that catches Quarry on the side of the head. Quarry got a shot in too though, although it hit the shoulder rather than the head. Time is running down; Mousasi has probably done enough to win the round, but it has turned quite scrappy since the clinch against the cage, both will probably be slightly unhappy with that. Quarry tries a late surge, coming in hard and fast with a leading left, but Mousasi defends it well and scores the only meaningful shot of the exchange with a crisp left hand. The first round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Mousasi.
Round 2
The fighters touch gloves, then circle. Mousasi throws a low kick, but it was without any conviction, it seemed designed more to keep Quarry from coming inside. Mousasi works an angle, then comes in with a one-two combination, Quarry responds with a crisp uppercut that wasn't far off from connecting. Mousasi backs off slightly, maybe a bit relieved not to have taken that one on the chin. Neither fighter appears to be looking for any sort of takedown or grapple, this is all about the striking. Quarry circles and throws a series of high jabs, but Mousasi blocked them with ease, using the gloves. Mousasi fakes a high kick, then storms in with a wild looking right hand and a series of body shots. Quarry covers up and rides out the storm, clinching to stop any further blows. It was a nice attack from Mousasi though, best action of the round. They stay clinched for a while, exchanging occasional punches to the ribs, then are separated by the referee. It looks like this round is going to the judges though, as there's only a few seconds remaining. Mousasi throws a leg kick that connects, albeit without too much force, and the round is done. End of round 2. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Mousasi.
Round 3
They come together in the center and exchange strikes. Quarry gets the better of it, and throws a wild right hand with evil intentions. Mousasi saw it coming, and ducks under it, allowing him the perfect position to hit Quarry with a takedown and put them on the ground. Mousasi gets past the guard, but only just, one leg is trapped by Quarry. A couple of right hands by Mousasi leave ugly red marks where they hit the unprotected stomach of Quarry. Mousasi gets both legs free and transitions higher up the body, putting Quarry in huge trouble. Mousasi manages to get a forearm firmly across the throat of Quarry and he pushes down. Quarry, with no way of getting out, has no alternative but to tap out. Mousasi wins via choke submission at 0:45 of the third round.
** Mousasi owns Quarry for the first two rounds and then sink in the choke.
HW JOSH HENDRICKS VS ANTONI HARDONK
Round 1
Not the most interesting of starts to the round, it's mainly a lot of circling. The referee apparently gets bored, as he tells them to get on with it and fight. Hendricks complies, firing off a dangerous right cross, narrowly missing. Hardonk throws a couple of stiff jabs, but they only find gloves. Hendricks fakes left, then comes in from the right, hitting a nice body blow. Hardonk steps forward and unleashes a big kick, thundering it into Hendricks's ribs. He felt that one for sure. Hardonk follows up by hitting a right hand too. Hendricks finds himself backed up against the cage. Hardonk advances, and throws a scythe-like kick to the legs. Hendricks can't get out of the way, and almost gets felled by the impact. Hardonk steps in and scores with a high head kick. Hendricks partially blocked it with his hands, which was probably the only thing stopping it from being a knock out blow. Hendricks gets a right hand jab out in response, then pulls Hardonk into a clinch. Knee strike from Hardonk. They break. Hendricks still looks hurt from that first kick. Hardonk gets in close and gives a receipt for that earlier body blow, nailing a right hand to the gut. Hendricks hits a jab to the cheek in response, then clinches again. Time runs down, the round will end before anything more can happen. Hardonk has used those powerful kicks to dominate this round. The round is over. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-8 Hardonk.
Round 2
Slow start, both fighters are throwing tentative punches without threatening anything more powerful. Hardonk puts together the first exciting moment, stringing together four punches in quick succession, but Hendricks defended well. Straight right from Hendricks in response, but it caught nothing but gloves. They start circling. The referee tells them to fight, the lack of action so far is worrying. They get in close and exchange body shots, Hardonk probably getting the slightly better punches in, and then fall into a clinch. That goes nowhere, and the referee separates them. Hendricks gets a nice kick in just before the time expires, but it's unlikely that is going to stop the judges giving that round to Hardonk. End of round 2. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Hardonk.
Round 3
The two fighters circle. Hendricks flicks out a couple of jabs, then an unconventinal looping right hand. Hardonk easily side-steps it, but trips and falls to the ground! He is up quickly, before Hendricks could get in. Replays confirm that it was purely a stumble, the punch was well wide of the mark. Hardonk moves in, ducks under a big right hand, and gets two crisp jabs in before getting smothered into a clinch. One of those jabs landed hard, Hendricks is a little rattled. They struggle in the clinch, both throwing small punches to the back and ribs. The referee separates them. Hendricks forces Hardonk back up against the cage, and starts throwing jabs. He looks to be keeping Hardonk in position, waiting to unload a big punch. Hendricks does, lunging in with a huge right cross, but Hardonk saw it coming and goes underneath it, scoring with a right hand to the gut on the way past. Hendricks turns and tries to follow up immediately, but gets tagged with a wicked left hook that drops him to one knee. Hendricks is up quickly, causing Hardonk, who was about to dive in, to back off. Replays show that the punch connected, but Hendricks was already going downward to duck the punch, so it wasn't as powerful as first thought. Hendricks throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Hardonk to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. The round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Hardonk. Antoni Hardonk wins, with a score of 30-26 from two judges, 29-27 from the other.
* Hardonk embarasses Hendricks for all three rounds.
WW KARO PARISYAN VS DAN HARDY
Round 1
Parisyan hits the first punch of the round, scoring with a jab to the cheek. Hardy throws a left hook in response, but it's well wide of the mark. Parisyan steps in and hits a low kick. Hardy ignores it and shoots in for a takedown. Parisyan saw it coming though, and defends it brilliantly, sprawling at first, then pushing Hardy face-down to the ground so that he can take his back. Hardy turtles up. Parisyan hits a couple of hard shots to the body, but can't stop Hardy working his way up and turning over, pulling guard. Parisyan passes guard and gets into side control, but it's an awkward position; Hardy has the entire right hand side of his body up against the cage, and both his legs wrapped around Parisyan's left arm. Parisyan's attacking options are fairly limited. He uses a couple of back fists to strike away at the face, but Hardy covers up to defend them. Parisyan tries to pin down one of Hardy's arms and bring his legs around to trap them fully, but Hardy uses his free arm to stop that from happening. The ground battle enters a stalemate, as Parisyan finds himself unable to do any real damage other than occasional strikes, which he doesn't have the leverage to get much power behind, with virtually no chance of gaining a submission thanks to his left arm being trapped. The referee eventually stands them up, and the time expires before anything interesting can happen with them standing. The 1st round ends. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Parisyan.
Round 2
Parisyan and Hardy circle to start. Hardy throws a couple of looping punches, neither hitting, while Parisyan sits back, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Hardy comes in closer, looking to unload with a right hand; that misses, and it allows Parisyan to slip a nice jab in, catching Hardy just underneath the right eye. Parisyan comes in and scores with a straight left, then bounces a right hand off the body. Hardy misses with a right cross, then backs off. Parisyan stalks him, forcing Hardy back up against the cage. Parisyan doesn't rush in, instead standing back and throwing the occasional punch. Hardy throws a big left hand in response, but it misses by quite a margin. Parisyan pounces, hitting lefts and rights. Hardy covers up from the first two punches, then clinches up to prevent any more coming in. They're up against the cage, Parisyan in the dominant position. They remain that way as the time ticks down. Parisyan throws the occasional knee, but can't really do much with his arms tied up like that. The referee finally tells them to break, and they return to the center. That clinch ate up a lot of time though. Hardy comes in hard and fast, bobbing and weaving, and throws a couple of big shots. Parisyan parries them with his gloves and scores with a well-executed counter punch, hitting just above the eye. They come in close again, throwing punches, but wind up clinched again. The time expires with them like that, and that round will definitely go down in Parisyan's favour. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Parisyan.
Round 3
Parisyan starts the round like a house on fire, hitting three quick jabs and a vicious right hook. Hardy covered up well, but at least one of the jabs got through and landed above the left eye. Hardy backs up to buy some time, but Parisyan keeps coming and lands a right hand to the body. Hardy scores with a jab in return, then goes with a kick to the waist. Parisyan catches the leg though and quickly rushes forward with a takedown. Hardy pulls guard. Parisyan tries to grab an arm to work a submission, but Hardy is defending it well by using short, sharp strikes to keep him back. Parisyan tries to pass the guard, but has no luck. A punch from Parisyan connects, but there was no real power behind it. Parisyan fakes Hardy out cleverly, and slips to a half mount. Hardy manages to hit a firm elbow, then is forced to defend the full mount attempt. Parisyan switches tactics and tries to work a kimura on the other arm, but Hardy blocks it, squirms his leg free, and secures the guard again. Parisyan looks frustrated at losing the half mount after having worked so hard to get it in the first place. Hardy is liable to lose the round on points, but he has done a fine job of defending the submissions attempts so far. Parisyan tries to secure a leglock, but the guard is tight and Hardy is safe. End of the round. Blurcat.com has it down as 10-9 Parisyan. The official scores are: 30-27 (twice), 29-28 for Karo Parisyan.
** Karo jumps back into title contention with a big win over Hardy.
LHW STEPHAN BONNAR VS REESE ANDY
Round 1
The two fighters circle. Andy flicks out a couple of jabs, then an unconventinal looping right hand. Bonnar easily side-steps it, but trips and falls to the ground! He is up quickly, before Andy could get in. Replays confirm that it was purely a stumble, the punch was well wide of the mark. Bonnar moves in, ducks under a big right hand, and gets two crisp jabs in before getting smothered into a clinch. One of those jabs landed hard, Andy is a little rattled. They struggle in the clinch, both throwing small punches to the back and ribs. The referee separates them. Andy forces Bonnar back up against the cage, and starts throwing jabs. He looks to be keeping Bonnar in position, waiting to unload a big punch. Andy does, lunging in with a huge right cross, but Bonnar saw it coming and goes underneath it, scoring with a right hand to the gut on the way past. Andy turns and tries to follow up immediately, but gets tagged with a wicked left hook that drops him to one knee. Andy is up quickly, causing Bonnar, who was about to dive in, to back off. Replays show that the punch connected, but Andy was already going downward to duck the punch, so it wasn't as powerful as first thought. Andy throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Bonnar to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Bonnar.
Round 2
The fighters come together right in the center. Andy throws out a jab, but Bonnar bobs out of the way and uses a right hand to glance a blow off the side of the ribs in response. Bonnar works an angle and storms in suddenly with three crisp jabs and a looping overhand punch, Andy covered up quickly but at least one of the jabs hit home. Bonnar is making Andy look sluggish in comparison, such is the speed and crispness with which he is delivering strikes. Andy hits a low kick before back-pedalling to avoid a clubbing blow. Bonnar tries to back Andy up against the cage wall, but it comes to nothing. They meet in the center to exchange a flurry of strikes that gets the crowd on their feet. Bonnar got slightly the better of it, he definitely snuck through a right hand that rocked Andy slightly. Andy initiates a clinch, and the action grinds to a halt. Andy looks out of ideas, he is being repeatedly lured into these exchange of strikes, but Bonnar is clearly winning them. Andy needs to find some way to deal with them. Not much time left in this round. The referee separates them. Bonnar tries a speculative high kick, but Andy saw it coming and was well out of range by the time it came. Andy tries to work an angle, but Bonnar is having none of it and fires off a straight right hand to keep him from stepping in. Comfortable round for Bonnar, he will probably be disappointed not to have done more damage given his dominance of the striking in this round. The second round is over. Blurcat.com scores it 10-9 for Bonnar.
Round 3
Andy comes out fast, but gets hit with a counter right hand strike when he throws a left hand which was too high. Bonnar moves in and hits a nice body shot before they clinch. Andy gets in a short, sharp jab to the side of the head, it looked to hit right on the ear. Bonnar didn't like that, and scores with two knee strikes and a punch to the cheek. They break apart. Bonnar swings and hits a nice right hand. Andy fires off a series of sharp jabs, all hitting gloves. He throws out a looping left, but gets tagged with a punch to the jaw and stumbles to the ground! Bonnar dives in to finish him off, but he scrambles back up quickly and they end up facing off on their feet again. Replays show that the punch barely connected, it was more of a stumble on Andy's part than anything else. It might not look that way to the judges though. Bonnar looks more confident after that, and puts together a nice chain of strikes, ending with a scathing low kick that catches Andy on the outside of the calf. He definitely felt that. Time is running out; Bonnar will probably take this round on the judges' score cards, primarily due to that one dubious knock down. End of the round. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Bonnar. All three judges give a score of 30-27 in favour of Stephan Bonnar.
* Stephan Bonnar with a solid win.
LW JOE STEVENSON VS NICK DIAZ
Round 1
Stevenson leads with the right hand to set up a low kick, Diaz deals with it well. They clinch, but only for a few seconds before it gets broken. Both throw stiff jabs at the same time, neither connects properly. Back to the clinch. It has been a disjointed start to the round, the flow hasn't quite developed properly. Diaz uses a knee to the ribs before backing Stevenson up against the cage. Right hand from Stevenson connects though, that was well timed. Diaz breaks the clinch and backs off. That was sloppy on his part, Stevenson was basically gifted a free shot. Three quick jabs from Diaz sting the gloves, then a crashing hook to the body finds its mark. Good recovery. Stevenson fires off a low kick again, but it's well wide. Stevenson forces Diaz back against the cage, where they clinch up. Stevenson has the better position, all the leverage is with him. He uses that to lift Diaz up onto his shoulder, turns...and hits a running slam that gets the crowd going crazy! Big power takedown from Stevenson. Diaz pulls guard, but he has to be stunned from that. Stevenson drops a bomb of a right hand, smashing into the hands of Diaz and forcing them back into his face. Another right hand finds its way through, landing right above the eye, stunning Diaz. With his opponent's wits scrambled, Stevenson moves from the guard into a mount with ease, and starts unloading with rights and lefts. Diaz tries to cover up, but is getting decimated, and the referee is forced to come in and pull Stevenson off, signalling the win. The official time is 3:27.
** Stevenson manages humble Diaz Jijitsu.
HW FRANK MIR VS FABRICIO WERDUM
Round 1
Werdum is quickest out, and comes at Mir with a series of jabs and straight punches. Mir covered up well, and I don't think anything got through. Mir hits a body shot, but it didn't connect solidly. They get in close, and it's Werdum who takes it to the ground. Mir pulls guard. There's a lull, as Werdum tries to pass, and Mir defends it. Punches get thrown every so often, but it's really a stalemate at the moment. Mir almost gets a guillotine, but it's blocked and almost leads to a kimura for Werdum, but that too goes nowhere. The referee stands them up, but the time is almost over. The first round is over. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Werdum.
Round 2
Werdum starts fast, firing off several crisp jabs that keep Mir on the back foot. A solid left hits gloves, but it's really just a set-up for Werdum to step in and use an uppercut. Not sure how much of it caught Mir, but certainly enough to to make him grab a clinch to stop any further punishment. Great start to the round from Werdum, it has been total domination so far. The clinch is broken, and the two fighters exchange some long range jabs that are easily avoided. Mir is looking a little lost so far, Werdum is controlling this round by virtue of his crisp accurate punches and higher aggression levels. Werdum throws out a few jabs, nothing too dangerous though, Mir easily avoided them. Werdum leads with the left, then moves in and gets in a wicked right hand that grazes the cheek. Mir was fortunate there, if that had landed properly it would have been over. Mir comes back with a leg kick to set up a one-two combination, but the round is coming to a close and it's going to be too little too late. The one bright spot for Mir is that although Werdum clearly won the round, he didn't actually turn that dominance into any sort of real damage. The 2nd round ends. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Werdum.
Round 3

Mir throws a high kick, but it doesn't do anything but cause Werdum to step back. The time expires without anything further of note happening. End of round 3. Blurcat.com sees it 10-9 to Werdum. The official scores are in; two judges give 30-27, the other 29-28, all for Fabricio Werdum.
** Werdum creeps closer to a title shot, too bad he shares the division with Fedor and Couture.

Ok I very first post on the forum has alot of information. It tells you all the fighters there record, win/loss streak since the beginning of the game, when they last fought, and when they can fight again.. This should help out you guys making matches, since you need to know how long I guy will be out for. Also, another thing is you guys don't have to make matches. So you guys can look at this and figure out matchups better instead of me having to say sorry one of your guys is out for a while. I will update it fully later today. Right now I will not charge any matches you guys sent in so you can start from stratch you fights.
ALSO FEDOR VS BIG NOG IS GOING TO HAPPEN EVEN WITHOUT YOUR PICKS AND THEN THE WINNER WILL FIGHT COUTURE.
The idea behind your title picks is to give a guy who may not get a shot right away a title shot.
I AM THINKING OF EXPANDING OUT THOSE ELIGABLE FOR TITLE FIGHTS TO THE TOP TEN IN THE WEIGHT DIVISION.
as always any thoughts or ideas about these changes is apreciated.
