Also, I just need to say this.

Lynching someone JUST to get info when there is NO EVIDENCE is FOOLISH at best. We'll get the exact same info if/when we see corpses after night 1 and we'll have one less dead person on our hands to worry about. The odds of mislynching on Day 1 are probably the highest of all days and I have NEVER belived it to be worth doing as a result of this.

There simply isn't time to establish voting patterns or work out who is working with who based on Day 1 banter so lynching someone on the basis of that assumption is killing people for the sake of killing people, a trait that more often than not (going by previous evidence) has turned out bad for the town. I know I always seem to be in the minority on this viewpoint but I'll never stop trying to get other people to understand the general futility of revealing info on Day 1 and lynching people for the hell of it. It detracts from the town's ability to do anything, slows down the game and makes me a very saaaad panda indeed. :(

What I'm trying to say, is stick to your guns if that's what you want to do. Don't be swayed into thinking one way because people want you to go that way. I acknowledge that me saying that is a viewpoint I'm trying to persuade you towards... but don't just go with the flow unless you really think it's the right thing to do. You'll play a better game if you go with your own instincts rather than listening to everyone else, at least that's what I found in my first game. First off, you are picking up quite quickly, and I'm glad to see someone trying. Just had to get that out of the way.

And secondly. You are being paranoid quite a bit. My gut feeling was the basis of my lynch.

It just wouldn't happen so early. I mean, if a mafia group starts with 3, and day one they lynch one of them, 2 for the rest of the game. That means in a game of 40.

They have to outlast 35 players. Quite a feat.

that changes the formula drastically. is there any way to tell how many of them roughly there are?

The ratios varies from game to game but it would be really unlikely to have an even balance of scum/town unless there were a LOT of mafia groups. The ratio varies with the number of groups in the game but the town are always the majority and usually by a fairly significant margin. But the number of groups and the number of potential kills per night are a huge factor in that.

I just can't get onboard with The Aussie lynch. Maybe he is scum, but the logic if it confounds me. Couldn't one argue he tried to deflect votes off of him onto others because he was trying to get people to look into the possibility that the people trying to get him lynched are scum?

If anything, this now has me tempted to put my vote on Nick. I still can't get over the idea of "This guy hasn't posted yet, but I've got a feeling he's evil."

Well, him being unaligned I presume he can get an alignment later. And I would presume some kind of ability could go along with that. So perhaps he could potentially be a valuable townie role in the future.

But he'd be equally likely to be a valuable scum role in the future as well. And since he's in the open now the chances of him being a useful townie decrease more so than the alternative.

But this is all based on things I can't know for sure. So the safest thing would be...
