Scheduling Bug Fix?

Hello,

I am the UW Huskies in the Pac-10 in the excellent NCFA (http://www.simgamingnetwork.com/ncfa/leaguehtml/reports/) and I understand that in BBCF you cannot manually even try to schedule games against Conference opponents that are missed on your schedule.

This is a problem becuase the real Pac-10 has a "Round-Robin" schedule in that you play each team in the Conference each season. In BBCF you only play 8 teams and skip one. I tried to fix it by attempting to schedule the missing team- but it does not allow it.

This is also a problem for other 10 and 12-team conferences that split into 2 Divisions - and yet they do not even let teams play every team in their own Division so one could lose a spot in a Conference Championship Game because they are tied with the team that they did not even get a chance to play :(

Can this be fixed?

Yes, can this issue be fixed? It is rather frustrating sometimes with the schedule rotations, i.e. playing one team at home for 5 or 6 straight seasons or not playing a team fron your division.

Also, what about adding the BCS championship game?

This is the suggestions forum, this isn't the location that technical support would typically be looking for issues.

At this time there are no "official" updates to the game planned. Arlie's developmental time is currently devoted to Bowl Bound's coming Pro counterpart. If there are further changes needed to BBCF to enhance BBPF, that would be the most likely source of any future update (but is far from a confirmation that there would even be one).

By NCAA rule you are not allowed to hold a conference championship in a league with fewer than 12 teams, which would resolve the 10 team issue. 12 team conferences with two divisions should function properly with the team playing all divisional opponents. While from within the game you can't schedule a conference opponent, have you tried manually editing the database. This should allow you to get around the issue.

I can confirm that this works perfectly using the SchedMatch table. As you can see, this will allow you to play a full round-robin schedule in the Pac Ten. You can also do the same thing with the Big Ten.

I'm curious as to how you ascertain which teams to hard schedule vs one another? You can't know which 8 opponents a team has until the schedule comes out.

If you edit the schedule portion of the dat file post schedule release, is the schedule edited?

The key is to save the game in Week 18 (during player training) before rolling over to the next season. After the game is saved, roll over into the next season and you can make a list of which game is not scheduled for each team. Exit the game without saving. Then, go to the SchedMatch table and schedule the missing games for each team. I keep a spreadsheet to make sure that I balance the team's home and away games. Then, you can reload the saved game and roll over to the next season and voila, you have a full round robin schedule.

Hey, good know about that workaround.

I notice that in some conferences that one team will play at another teams place like 6 years in a row. For example, I think Tennessee will play at Florida about 6 years in a row before playing at Tennessee. Is there any way to change this? My guess is no, but I thought I would ask.

You can't do anything about the conference games that are automatically scheduled, but it is important to go into the SchedMatch table and swap the manually scheduled games (like USC/Notre Dame) before rolling over to a new season. Otherwise, you'll get teams playing at the same site every year.
