You are Gruntmark the l33t Gank Guild Aligned Vindictive Guild Master

You've had it up to hear with those PvE carebears interfering with your ganking. The zerglings have got to go. The realm is better off without them! And so, it's time to gank some realmmates.

Of course, you haven't gotten this far by being reckless. You know that the zerglings don't like gankers and so you've make it a point to keep yourself hidden. To this degree, you maintain a separate gaming account and often interact with zerglings using an alternative character. Because of your efficient use of alts, you will be described as a "non-threat" if investigated at night.

Your fellow guildmembers include Midnightnick the Prepubsecent Trashtalker, Prophet the Insufferable Glory Hog, and Gonvick the Jealous Gossip Queen. You may communicate with them outside of the thread.

Each night, you must select one person to kill. You may send anyone from your guild to make the kill (including yourself), provided that they did not use any day abilities. However, anyone sent out for a nightkill will be unable to complete any other night actions (active or passive). Meaning, if you perform the kill yourself and happen to be investigated during that night you will be described as a "threat".

To perform the night kill, PM the mods with the following information (Target, Hitman).

You win when the l33t Gank Guild are equal in numbers to the rest of players in the game.

Pretty typical don role.

So what.... Did I win?

Nope.

DAY 7: Epilogue

---------

He had helped the Casual Gamers win. He had the lead the realm for a long time now.

But it was time to walk away. He couldn't tolerate the immaturity. He couldn't tolerate the impulsiveness. The recklessness.

And so, The Aussie walked away.

---------

The Aussie the Casual Gamer Aligned Leader of the Zerg has left the game.

Actarus was still alive and the town win condition had been met, so we had to do something to remove The Aussie from the game. He gets something like a half-win.

You are The Aussie the Casual Gamer Aligned Leader of the Zerg

You've always done what you thought was right for the realm. Whether this meant organizing PvE or PvP raids, you've always been there. Unfortunately, there are those out there that make it hard for you to do your job.

For one, you have to deal with these idiot Gankers. All they care about is kill spam and individual glory. They don't care about the realm at all!

And, you have to deal with that idiot, the Reckless Hothead. That jerk is always running forward when you say stop, going afk when you say to pay attention, and just generally ruining your plans, and screwing up your raids.

You have a lot of influence in the realm, and, accordingly, your voice carries extra weight. Your votes count as two votes.

Moreover, once in the game, you can stop a lynch. You're good at getting people to calm down and think things over. To do so, PM the mods and state: Stop the Lynch. After doing so, the day phase will be ended. Note, however, if you wish to use this role, you must do it before a lynch is achieved (in other words, you cannot use this ability after a majority has been achieved).

You win if all threats to the Casual Gamers are eliminated and if the Reckless Hothead is dead.

The Aussie played a good game, driving home a couple of lynches with double voting force.

It was, ultimately, going to be a tough game for him to win, as long as Actarus didn't out himself.

The Survivors:

You are widowmaker the Casual Gamer Aligned Sexy Chat Princess

Every server and every faction has a chat princess, and here, you're it. As the chat princess, it's your job to make young, hopeless males feel like women are attainable and approachable. Of course, for most of them, that's just not true. But hey, at least you can make them feel better in-game, right?

Each night, you may chat with another player. To do so, PM mods the following information: <target> and <message: you may send up to 50 words to your target>. Your message will be delivered to that player and they may, if they like, send a response which you will receive at the end of night phase.

Of course, there are downsides to being a princess. If you happen to die, everyone that has had contact with you will be deeply saddened.

You win when all threats to the Casual Gamers are eliminated.

Similar to Lostrelms role in Lakeside. I like the night messenger mason variant. I suppose I can't use it in the next game I'm involved in though.

Rather enjoyed Widowmaker's PMs :p

To Gonvick (Night 1):

>Hello Casual Gamer's chat line. Ginger speaking. Purrrrrrr.

Impressions? Just for you sweetie. Looks like deception from the ones that are doing all the talking. Keep your eye on both of the m boys. Quiet ones worry me. You?

Call again, I kinda like the way you handle that joystick! :p <

Gonvick response:

>Nice to hear a friendly voice.

Agreed on the m boys. Thought first one was noticeably odd. Wary of second on general principle.

Quiet ones not too worrisome this early, but more so if it is persistent.

Hope to talk to you again when we have more info to share.<

I'd post the rest, but it'd take me awhile to dig through my PMs.

You are Destiny the Casual Gamer Aligned Tattle Tale

The CSR (Customer Service Representatives) know you by name. There isn't a day that goes by where you don't summon them to tattle on a player. And to be fair, it's true - MMOs are full of cheaters and exploiters and rule-benders. If everyone would just play by the rules, you'd stop telling on them. But they don't, so you keep filing reports on them.

This skill might come in handy in the upcoming days. Each night, you may select a player and send the CSRs to admonish them. To do so, PM the mods with your target.

Of course, customer service is so extraordinarily cumbersome that the CSR will prevent them from doing anything for the entire night and the following day.

You win when all threats to the Casual Gamers are eliminated.

Jailer-type role.

Honestly, I wouldn't have put this role in, if I had known the activity level of the game.

You are Actarus the Casual Gamer Aligned Reckless Hothead

You like to get things done! Screw planning and waiting around, let's play the game people!

The other Casual Gamers get a bit annoyed with you at times. They say you "ruin their raids", "get every aggro", and "suck at directions". LOL. It's a game, what a bunch of dorks.

Once, during the game, you may rush a lynch. During the day phase, you may select a player that has at least 1 vote on him and may complete the lynch. To so, you must post the following in the thread: LEROY JENKINS. For this to acknowledged as a day ability, the letters must be capitalized and bold-faced.

Unfortunately, if you happen to rush a lynch against another Casual Gamer, you're pretty sure that the rest of players will kill you. Kinda sucks, huh? One of them, the so-called "Leader of the Zerg" is definitely out to get you.

You win when all threats to the Casual Gamers are eliminated.

I was hoping to get to do a Leroy Jenkins write-up, but there never seemed to be a good time for Actarus to spring into action.

You are SuperOwens / Astil the Casual Gamer Aligned Crafting Carebear

Mobs? PvE? PvP? Realm wars? What are these things? You thought that this was a crafting game!

And if it was a crafting game, you would have already won! You a master crafter and have became rich in-game by selling your wares. Of course, you'd like to keep selling your wares... but no one is buying, now that everyone is fighting. Well, you could the realm out for free... but just this once.

You have the material to make the following items: (1) The Dagger of Dying, (2) The Crystal Carapace, (3) The Paladin's Shield, (4) The Potion of Celerity, (5) The Potion of Knowledge, and (6) The Cloak of Night

Of course, given that you only craft, you don't really know what any of these items do. You do know, however, that they are each good for one use and that normally, people pay a lot of money for them. Furthermore, you only have the material to make each item once.

During the day phase, you may PM the mods and indicate which item you would like to make. During the night phase, you may then deliver this item (PM the mods with your target). Your abilities are optional. You do not have to make an item each day (and, in fact, if you do not send in a day PM, you will not make an item). Nor do you have to deliver your items. After you make and deliver all six items, you will have no abilities.

You win when all threats to the Casual Gamers are eliminated.

And finally, the crafter. No items were used, which is kind of entertaining to me.

As for the items:

(1) The Dagger of Dying - allowed for a one-shot delayed kill (target would die at the end of the next day phase)
(2) The Crystal Carapace - passive one-time bulletproof (would not have stopped Prophet)
(3) The Paladin's Shield - one time protection
(4) The Potion of Celerity - one shot, allowed for two night actions in one night phase
(5) The Potion of Knowledge - one shot protection
(6) The Cloak of Night - one shot untargetable

d_w_w, I just want to say that I love the roles that you put together for this game. I hate that the participation was lacking. I agree that the death of Crychon on night one was a huge blow. Would have loved to see the game proceed with him in it.

d_w_w
12-04-2008, 02:23 AM
And that's that.

Final thoughts:

1. The inactivity hurt both sides, but it seemed to hurt the mafia more.

2. Crychon dying early seemed to hurt the mafia too, as it made it hard for them to eliminate town numbers fast enough.

3. I'm sleepy and going to bed.

If you have questions or comments, please post them. I'll check in tomorrow, at some point.

Night 3 to masterded

Message
>Hello Casual Gamer's chat line. Ginger speaking. Purrrrrrr.

Hey sweetie! That went well. Were is everyone? Usual callers have gone quiet. Makes me think they are behind the mischief. Potential baddie list:gonvick*, Midnightnick, Actarus.

What do you think?

Call again, I like the way you handle that joystick! <

Night 4 to Destiny

>Hello Casual Gamer's chat line. Ginger speaking. Purrrrrrr.

Night 5 to glotnot (this is the big call that helped the town win)
Hello Casual Gamer's chat line. Ginger speaking. Purrrrrrr.

Hey sweetie! Two killer's down. masterded was investigating Midnightnick the night he was killed. A connection maybe? You could pass on your info, that way someone would know if you know, well...

Call again, I like the way you handle that joystick!

Response from glotnot

Hello Mr. widowmaker. Admittance: slightly suspicious of you, having hard time figuring out who's gank and who's not. Destiny is CSR. Watching gonvick night he was blocked, is when figured out masterded was town. Probably 2 more gank. Bak24: no target Night 4. Suspicion: Gruntmark, Actarus, Aussie. Following Aussie tonight.

Night 6 to Astil:

>Hello Casual Gamer's chat line. Ginger speaking. Purrrrrrr.

Hey sweetie! Nearing end game now. From Glotnot's information, know that Destiny is CSR. Actarus is not gank. Which means Gruntmark is. Finish this in case I can't.

Call again, I like the way you handle that joystick!

response from Astil.. lol..

I loved the write ups in this game and seeing the role PMs now makes me very happy indeed. Between this and Lakeside, I'm now going to make sure I never miss a DWW game in future. Great stuff. :D

That was a very entertaining game to read, and also to play. And some very cool roles. Well done.

The mafia could pick their killer. Gonvick night 1, Midnightnick on night 2.

Except... well, the killer was selected via RNG. As was the target. Didn't receive mafia kill order that night.

So that's what happened. I thought the plan for that night was Prophet killing Masterded. I was quite surprised when I saw MJD was killed, and even more so when I learned that MNN made the hit.

Did anyone actually use an item they were given?

Hey, I had an excuse! I COULDN'T use my item.

I was hoping to get to do a Leroy Jenkins write-up, but there never seemed to be a good time for Actarus to spring into action.

If Aussie hadn't come in near the end of the phase, I totally would have Leroy Jenkins the vote. Oh well, maybe next time.

Damn you Actarus. If only you died so that I would have won.

I was wondering if you were the Leader of the Zerg. At the very beginning, I wans't sure if it was a townie or scum role. Once I saw the L33t aligned guys, I was thinking townie. And when you seemingly rushed one of the votes, I assumed you had the same ability as mine (didn't occur to me you had in actuality a SIMILAR ability to mine).

I find it funny that we were buddy, buddy at the end of the thread game there.

Also...even if you leave the game (without dying), since you were a townie, don't you technically win anyways?

Nah, half of my win thing was that Reckless Hothead (i.e- you) had to die.

DAY 7

---------

Last official vote count:

---------

He'd almost made it through the day. They made an early rush at him, but he dodged their accusations with ease. If he could make it to the night, he'd make them suffer.

But it was clear that they weren't going to let this man go. One man had his finger on the trigger. He was itching for some action. He was itching to scream his name and charge into battle. But he never got the chance to do so.

The leader of the Casual Gamers stepped forward. "We do this by the numbers and we'll all make it out of this alive." Of course, today he was making a sacrafice. For the Casual Gamers to win as a whole, independently, he would have to lose.

With a plan in place, they attacked GruntMark. He held them off for awhile. After all, you don't lead the most successful Gank Guild in Server history by sucking. But the attack was surgical and soon, he was dead. What a crappy night.

---------

His night was about to get a whole lot worse.

Those n00bs had killed him! He'd lost to a bunch of PVE Carebears! Oh, how embarressing!

*DING-DONG*.

Someone was at the door. Probably the pizza delivery man, he thought to himself.

He opened the door. This was no pizza delivery man. Instead, it was a large muscle-made mountain of a man, wearing a black leather jacket and dark sun glasses. He was very terminator-esque.

The man looked down at a list in his hand. "Do you play Dark Age on the World of Grey Dog Quest as..." He looked at the list again. "... GruntMark?"

The young man was confused. This was strange. "Uh, yeah, I do actually."

The large man lunged into the house and grabbed its inhabitant by the shirt. "So, you're some sort of tough guy, huh?!"

"Wha...what are you talking about?"

"Yeah, I play that game too. I go by bak42. And I'm sick of you Internet Tough Guys. Always talking trash about how bad you are! About how tough you are! About how you'd F-me up if we met in real life! Well, punk, this is real life! Now mess me up!"

"Uh... dude, it's a game!"

The man shoved him back. "Yeah, that's what I thought. You're just a scared piece of crap. And I pieces of crap like you for breakfast?"

bak42 seemed satisfied, happy to have put this Internet Tough Guy in his place.

"You eat pieces of crap for breakfast?" Why? Why did those words come out of his mouth?

GruntMark doubled over in pain, as bak42 slammed his knee into his stomach. Then he was shoved to the ground. bak42 looked at the man for a moment. He thought about kicking him while he was down. He thought about really, really hurting him. But he decided that it wasn't worth it.

Instead, he stomped through GruntMark's house. He found his computer. He jerked the tower off the ground and launched it into an expensive 24-inch monitor. Then he picked up again, and flung it through a nearby window.

And with that, he felt satisfied.

---------

The realm was at peace.

---------

Gruntmark the l33t Gank Guild Aligned Vindictive Guild Master is dead. And, he's been assaulted IRL.

That was awesome!

THE GAME IS OVER!

The Casual Gamers have won!

Congratulations to the survivors!

GG Town. Though you are all still noobs.

Sorry I wasnt around more. RL kicked my butt the first phases and it just felt too scummy to suddenly pop up and be super townie.

We shoulda never killed Crychon night one. His extra kills coulda swung the balance the other way.

Oh well...

Hey Grunt,

Out of curiousity, near the end, why did you choose to go after bak instead of widow? I mean, widow had the dirt on people. In fact, I was certain he'd be killed, and then the town would have been directionless with no real info.

Hey Grunt,

Eh....kinda an assortment of things.

I wanted to kill the guy who kept running to the CSR, I wanted to kill someone who was in all likelyhood in everyone elses eyes town...but also knew I was probably screwed either way, and kinda figured Widow had played a slightly better game and deserved to survive.

In restrospect, I suppose I should have killed him, if he's really the princess type I coulda made an extra pointless kill next night. :D
