View Full Version : I have a cult promotion in the U.S (cverse)...

with 50 popularity in every area in the US except the midwest (70 pop-home region).
I'm running a touring promotion that goes two months on, two off starting February, either 2 or 3 shows a week. Don't know which yet.
Roster puts on shows in the C- to C+ range for the most part, favorable to sponsorship.
Which network should I start with? I am doing an 80/80 split. I want a network that doesn't kick me off because I'm too small for them but gives me good coverage.
Sports America, The Pop Network and Arcadia seem like my best bets, but looking for other opinions. What should my time slot be?
Will the promotion being on a touring schedule affect the TV deal? If so, how?

The T.V deal will be a highlight package, not a show, so you just run your tour as normal.
But if your tour sucks show sucks.
I'd go for pop network, but I just like the name:D
but aim for 80/90 or 90/90 split, as that's what you're likely to get

Okay cool thanks for the tips.
I just want to pick a network that isn't going to kick me off. I'll run some sims. :)

Kobe1724.. No offence but you seem to do 1-3 new topics a day. Put the questions in the official tip thread or somewhere else or start your own "Kobe Question Corner" topic or something. :o

I like it, I can't be bothered to search through the tip thread to find what I want, too long winded.
Now if a finnish person were to release a TEW 2008 survival guide...

I actually counted all the topics that Kobe has made just in the TEW08 General section: 15. :o

Wouldn't that be the same as the Tip Thread after a while though :p
Maybe we should update the TEW2007 (might even have been 2005 actually!) Unofficial FAQ, created by a Cornish person, and add Finnish-ness to it...
I would do it today, but my girlfriend would be unimpressed, so I'll wait until I get home tomorrow if nobody else has. :p

Keeping the questions to 1 topic...
Is running two TV shows at once while at cult feasible?
I start with 2.5 million in the bank as a touring fed running 2 shows a week and a big event at the end of the month. It's an 8 month schedule, 2 months on 1 off. 50 popularity in every region in the US (except a 70 in the midwest). spillover popularity is all I have elsewhere.
Thinking of picking up a very small TV/highlight show in Japan with my cult US fed to try and hit national faster.
I'm not sure if the financials work out though. I'm a touring promotion so work rate won't be a problem, I just don't know. Going to run some sims regardless I just want to know if I'm spinning my wheels.

Also at what level does a PPV deal become practical?

ppv is always practical as it will always make money even at a 0.01 buyrate. For the 2 tv shows set two of em and then sim a year seeing as these questions are for the draft.

Is there a way to have scheduled events for an area?
Like my US promotion tours in the US when the AI sims.
Any way to have it tour in Japan as well, for instance?

Do PPV deals raise your popularity?
How useful are they and in what way?

Have you ever played TEW? :p
Yes, PPV deals increase popularity... they also provide an extra source of income through buyrates, meaning you can make a lot of money AND be seen in a lot of areas through PPV. And before you ask, weekly PPVs make a lot LESS money... though are still often profitable for any company running them. Touring companies can't run weekly PPVs.

PPV also increase your companies prestige.;) Dont forget to switch your events to PPV. And use the advance booking at your PPV event

Man, if anything ever made me want to try a pre-existing low-level fed with realistic cash reserves, this post is it. I haven't run a weekly PPV since 04. But in that game it did help me keep my AWA afloat through a bad economy despite four figure viewership. Could be a lot of fun running someplace like NYCW or MAW that way.

Yeah I play it, I just never play anything bigger than a Cult fed for more than a a few months game time so PPVs don't come up. :)

Anyway to increase the change of the AI getting a ppv? EG better bussiness skill of the owner etc? My draft company starts at regional so cant trade/draft a ppv deal but gets to cult pretty sharpish, problem is the AI never gets a ppv deal even when their overness is sufficient for one.

You can cheat though and run four "annual" PPVs in one month though.

Makes matches more brutal and realistic, and works particularly well on japanese promotions.
