Put me on the reserves list, just in case I get killed off early in Sin and need something to do. Haven't played this one, but I've played Morrowind lots so I've got a vague idea what's going on! :)

The premise is essentially the same as that of the game's main quest line.

Obviously, how things turn out will be dependent on how people play.

Anyways, if this ends up at 25, it really won't all that small... Didn't Barebones have 25 players?

Take a page out of my book, play both.

Exactly. Both are fantastic games in their own right. I think Fallout 3, in comparison, is slightly better... but hopefully it means the next time (whenever that is) they make an Elder Scrolls game, it'll follow in the footsteps of the great work they did on Fallout. I seriously get annoyed running around Bruma and everyone sounds EXACTLY the same. Oh well, still a great game.

Um I meant the mafia game here(oblivion) or the mafia game over at mj's off shoot site(fallout).

(Own both games, both are excellent, really wish they would release a windows XP version of Daggerfall though)

Oblivion is much much more fun gameplay wise compared to Fallout in my opinion. Trying to stay alive long enough to have fun in Fallout is a chore. Plus, Oblivion is much bigger in size and scope.

Also, it's funny that you describe Oblivion as monotonous when I think Fallout is more guilty. For one, they borrowed most of the sound effects and voice actors from Oblivion for it, and everything in Fallout looks the same (due to the environment no doubt, but it's still drab and boring...)

Also, Oblivion never takes itself too seriously. There is plenty of comic relief to be had. However, Fallout is a bit more grim a bit more often, and that tends to get old. And, lastly, I "care" more about my character in Oblivion. Fallout is uber-linear character wise and when one considers character creation and customization to be the most appealing aspects of an RPG, Fallout falls short.

/rant

...

Anyways, mistaken, I'd say pop over to my site as I believe dww is looking for more players and I'm sure I'll reach quota over here. Also, I doubt it'd be too hard to play in both. If you look, there aren't so many post-maniacs signing up for my game and the games on my site are very slow paced. :D

Didn't play Barebones. I prefer a themed game, even though half of the theme's here are unfamiliar for me.

I discussed this with MJD some time ago I think. I preferred Fallout because of the variety of characters and the setting. But having said that: I finished the game...I'm a bit disappointed with the storyline and speed. I mean: everything starts out great and the first steps in the main mission are really good (and difficult). But once you reach The Citadel, you can finish the rest of the game in about an hour....what's with that? Seems like halfway through they just ran out of ideas and went "Ooh, F this! Let's finish it and earn some money".

Bah! Oblivion and Fallout are both great games IMO. Though I admit to preferring Picard over Ducard. If you want a disappointing Bethesda published game, go play their Star Trek game. Great potential, but fell short on many fronts. Whoever decided steering a starship should be like steering a beached whale is a silly, silly person.

Oh, and since recess is officially over, in!

Comrade, will we see an Elder Scrolls inspired Boris?

Possibly, though I'd imagine SIN mafia will take precedence. Of course, it could come down to which ever game starts first, and admittingly making an Oblivion Boris would probably be easier. Guess we'll see.

I'm confused by this Boris speak as well...

Anyways, I've just gotten back to GDS after being busy with stuff for a day or so, so let me get situated.

I believe I'm still short a couple for this game, and I'd rather not strip it down, so I'll hold out until at least day phase is over in SIN before starting this up.

It's a travesty for GDS to be without mafia for more than a few hours, so I'll count MLT in and if I can get one more player, I'll start this tonight. :D

Not sure what I want to do here. Never played the game so I don't know any of the characters all that well. Yet I liked the flow of the Recess game despite the fact I spent most of it in a haze trying to make sense of people. Either a more willing player needs to step forward or something needs to tip the scales for me.

I would, but with the season I've got enough on my plate keeping track of one game in the event I'm called in for it. I'd like to jump in this one, but seeing as I've only gotten about three hours into the game my knowledge is just barely north of nil.

EDIT: Actually, I'm now "officially" in the SIN game, so that rules me out for now. Sorry, I'd rather give the spot here to someone who would be more able to follow the events in the game.

mjdgoldeneye
02-09-2009, 08:39 PM
Well, as Derek_B just reminded me, the point of the short games is to accommodate those who die in the bigger game.

However, it seems like in this game there are tons of newer players still learning the ropes and a few people who aren't involved in the big game.

I assure you, seeing as you're out of the other game, you'd do well here. The flavor of the game doesn't really lend itself to benefiting anyone game play wise. Regardless, for the sake of clarity (and his renders) I include a link to the wiki for each character in the game to put each player in context.

Honestly, false claiming won't be too hard when there are a multitude of major characters I never even considered stuffing into such a small game. :D

Fair enough. To be honest, I've barely gotten into the main quest yet, but I know the game and did my research for this.

If you ever have second thoughts, I can put you into the reserves.
