WTF is EDF?
Derek B
03-13-2009, 04:57 PM
Widowmaker never claimed EDF.
I am starting to wonder if there are people playing Kong and Cloverfield though.
Alternatively, I suppose, Prophet could be lying and we'd never know.
In a group of mesage Widow changed one of them to the same green as the EDF...
WTF is EDF?
... which was earlier revealed by Bak to be the Earth Defense Force. And Godzilla claimed to be green, of course.
For the purposes of working out how far the monsters can move each night I'd love to see someone claim the woman who was being chased by Kong on the first two movement phases... would definitely clear up a few things, just as if we could work out where Clover was on the times I don't have noted yet. If we can prove 100% where they were, then we can seriously question Prophet on why he chose to chomp down on Shigakai, especially since he KNEW Shiga was going to be there. Seems pretty scummy, cos I seriously don't think a giant reptilian monster is capable of telling right from wrong... and I'm not exactly sure the EDF are here to protect us... I've got a feeling they might be here trying to add to their monster collection.

I've got the same green as EDF/Godzilla, and last I checked. I've got nothing but the long lost art of chivalry, woman and children to defend with myself.

In a group of mesage Widow changed one of them to the same green as the EDF...Yes but the color seems to connected to the movie that that character is from. which means that Widow could very well be some other character from a Godzilla movie and not actually part of the EDF.

Do me a favor, Derek ... find the post where I said I absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, ate Shig. Not using the word maybe, or it's possible.
I admitted who I was before the night 1 write up had me emerge from the water. Which makes me comfortable enough in my desire to protect the people of NYC, or an incredibly stupid player. And I prefer to think that I'm not that stupid.

You'd know if you ate Shig... were you in Midtown West that night? You say that you can't tell us which I find to be more than convenient. And with green apparantly all being people from the Godzilla movie that doesn't rule out some of them being bad. Example, SuperOwens killing the Two and both being the same colour. It also doesn't rule out Kong being a player, though I'm not certain this is true either.
I'd like to hear from bak because he himself said he thinks there are more people from the EDF around... and I can't see there being NO scummy types from the movie if SuperOwens became evil for the purposes of this game, rather than angry.
And Derek... I'd love to know your win condition.
I need to successfully escape Manhattan, but I've got to complete my sidequest before I can do that. And thanks to monster activity in some key areas, I've been hesitant to take the final few steps to be able to do that. Should hopefully be able to complete it on my next turn and hopefully nothing will beat me to it and make it a game of chase the monsters. NO-ONE wants to have to deal with that, trust me.

This is as clear as I can spell it out....
- Shigakai was hung up in Midtown West as monster bait
- Prophet claims to be here to PROTECT us and fight monsters
- 1 monster ate Shigakai and Prophet DOESN'T KNOW if it was him
Kong killed SuperOwens in Chelsea that night so it wasn't Kong.
We don't know where Clover and Godzilla were... but Prophet's vagueness, whether feigned or true, just screams to me that he was in Midtown West that night, eating into the win condition of HIMSELF!!
He claimed he needed 13 people to live in order to win (post #476), so why isn't he able to say "I didn't eat Shigakai". In post 790 he said he would fight other monsters rather than let them eat people.
I don't know about anyone else, but Prophet's entire play style reeks of my own pattern of scumminess. Paraphrased it goes "say something early on, claim later it was a hint, then claim to help the town while eating them".
Prophet either went to Midtown West and knowingly ate Shigakai, or he didn't. It sounds to me like he did and that is in direct conflict with his own win condition and with his stated role as a protector.

Unless, of course, I wasn't actually positive if it was me who ate Shig. Possible, no? I know now. Without a shadow of a doubt that I didn't. But you're so certain that I did, that I'm this evil being within the game world. Tried my best to be forthcoming about everything, and yes, I have limitations that you see as convenience, but I see as a burden, since I know it alleviates me of guilt.
Also, here's a question ... does this sound like an evil killing monster machine?
He was still searching for a pretty girl to spend some quality time with. He heard something in the next block. Taking a shortcut through an ally he reached the source of the noise. He looked up and up, and up some more. This wasn't what he had in mind.
Slowly he slinked back into the alleyway from which he came.
Looks to me like a human got away, even with evil intentions. Oh, that must be the local basketball player in the game ... sure can't be the guy who was claiming Godzilla long before he came out of the water, right?
And something else strikes me as odd ... not this last post, but the post before, you asked where the woman Kong was chasing is. Funny, I remember Act asking this question, and it being pointed out by more than one person that asking a female character to reveal herself was dangerous, due to some people's desire to find a pretty lady. And you didn't really say what your win condition was. Oh, escape Manhatten after ... doing something. Yeah.
Looks to me like the lizard hunter needs one more woman to kill before he can slip over the bridge.

How do you know NOW that it wasn't you eating Shigakai? You were either in Midtown West eating him or you were elsewhere NOT eating him. And if you were in Midtown West NOT eating Shiga, then Clover must have been doing the eating... in which case why weren't you fighting Clover?
It STILL doesn't add up with the other things you have been saying.
ON top of that, I'm asking someone to account for what they were doing 2 and 3 movement phase ago. I'm not asking someone to tell me where they are now, which would be a very dangerous thing to do. But narrowing down where monsters have been in order to track their movement and better learn what they are up to... that seems like a very good idea indeed. That's the kind of info that saves lives, which is something I thought you'd appreciate for someone who needs 13 people to escape in order to win.
Let me ask again, jsut so I'm sure.... did you eat Shigakai?

My win condition is important... if I don't turn something off (which sounds less important than it is, trust me) then another monster can get released into the game... and if it does, I'll have to take care of it myself meaning I'll be stuck in town for even longer. As long as I turn it off first, we don't need to worry about the other monster appearing.
I'm a couple of steps away still though thanks to monsters like.. well.. you.

No, I did not eat Shig. I know because I checked something the past night phase. Without a doubt, I did not eat Shig.
When I said maybe I did, I tried to find reasons that would justify it. Because it would've been something out of my hands. It's why I wondered if I ate red labels, or if it was to appease me to continue to serve the city. I checked it out the best way I could, and know for a fact I didn't eat him.

Which would make sense... but doesn't explain why you weren't sure you didn't kill Shiga in the first place. If you weren't there then OBVIOUSLY you didn't kill Shiga, but you didn't know for sure if you had. Since you didn't KNOW something that SHOULD be OBVIOUS that makes me believe you are lying.

Just a placeholder location for now, but I think it's slightly poetic that he's being nominated to die in the same place where he killed Shigakai. I'm not asking WHERE you were now... I'm asking what you know now that you didn't before. So unless you had no idea where you were, which I wouldn't believe anyway, I'm readying the extra large, scale proof noose for ya...
... though I may resist slapping ya upside ya scaly head, at least til I'm sure you are dead.
Personally, I'd rather have 2 killer monsters running around town than 3 (potentially 4). Much easier for everyone involved and fits in rather nicely with the name of this game. DESTROY ALL MONSTERS
The last guy we offered up is still active yeah?

Don't put words in my mouth, I said I don't know if there is anyone else from the EDF in the game.
He seems to be working a double-standard, too.
So I'm reluctant to put a vote down on someone who may or may not be Godzilla.
On one hand, I'm slightly suspicious that two protector roles would come from the same movie, let alone be in the same game. But he was in the write-up, and while I only guard against monsters, a monster (assumedly Godzilla) guarded against a human killer.

No monsters went and ate them... so they untied themselves and wandered off. Hardly a surprise there, didn't we discuss this waaaay back?

Apologies, I've noted down in my notes (next to a post number) that you thought there might be, but what you said was that you didn't know for sure... Chinese whispers in my own notes.
Yeah, look, I was mildly suspicious of Prophet.
But now I'm suspicious of you.

Yes, I'm going for him hard. He should know if he ate Shiga or not based on if he was in the area or not... since there wasn't a monster fight, only one monster was in the area (going by his own claim of fighting other monsters if he meets them) and he STILL didn't know if it was him that ate Shiga. That reeks of him trying to worm his way out of being caught out... and it's something he says he can't address directly. Which is pretty convenient for him.
I know I'm suspicious of the fact that after our lady killer gets his first kill, Derek's suddenly wanting another female character to reveal themselves and where they are.
Where they WERE on phase 1 and phase 3... I have no interest in knowing where they ARE NOW after phase 7/during phase 8.
He seems to be working a double-standard, too.

I'm okay with some suspicion, expected it, to be honest. I had some on you, due to your ability to say where you've been and where you're going. But I figured out that our characters seem to be two parts to a whole. You can choose to stay put, whereas I can't. Every hour, I have to be somewhere new. It makes us like a sentry/sniper combo, where I keep a perimeter to spy incoming enemies, where you set up a spot to take them out, if that makes sense. (Not the best analogy, but I'm tired, so it's the best I got. lol)
I will also say that this mysterious monster boggles me. I don't see any mention of a caged creature, or of an incoming doom, or anything like that. Maybe I'm wrong. It's very possible I may have missed something, but the sidequest Derek claims doesn't seem to fit, to me.

I'm no monster expert by any means... but to me Godzilla = destroying Tokyo and eating people. The reasons may vary between each one, but Gozilla as your friendly neighbourhood vegetarian monster protector has about a 0% chance of being true.
If I could track where Kong had been moving early in the game (phases 1 and 3, which someone KNOWS because they were there) then I'd be able to track the movement patterns of each monster and could prove logically and beyond doubt that Prophet is eating people, which would be contrary to his claimed win condition AND his claimed abilities.

His answer was always "I can't tell you where I've moved to". He then said he'd learned something that could confirm he hadn't killed Shiga... but then never said what it was, only that he couldn't say it. So...
1. He learned where he was, meaning he didn't previously know where he was despite saying he chose where he went.
2. He's got more things he can't talk about
3. He's trying not to say anything else that contradicts himself.
For a giant monster protector who has free roam of the city, he should know where he was. The only thing he COULD have said was that he never knew where he was... which wouldn't have been incriminating (therefor shouldn't get him modkilled) but would have been a very, very poor defense. He hasn't even said that. He just said he's got new info and now he knows he didn't do it.
I'm used to people thinking I'm up to something, but I know I've got him bang to rights. He has systematically failed to put up a defense against questioning, stemming from him not being able to say he didn't eat Shiga. When put together with the other "facts" he's told us about himself, it's clear he is lying about something.
Lynch All Liars.
Especially giant monsters who are eating through their own win condition, going against their own role and who don't apparantly seem to know where they are at any given time. I know I'll rest easier knowing we only need to keep track of monsters with seemingly limited capacity for movement, it'll help more of us win.

Especially giant monsters who are eating through their own win condition, going against their own role and who don't apparantly seem to know where they are at any given time. I know I'll rest easier knowing we only need to keep track of monsters with seemingly limited capacity for movement, it'll help more of us win.

I know I seem to be going after this with pitbull like ferocity, but it's not often I'm online to catch people in their lies. And one aspect of my mafia gaming skills that has never been great is the actual leading of things. I'm making an active effort to not just watch things transpire and to push things I catch. It's a new playstyle to me and people don't seem to appreciate it entirely... but if anyone can honestly reconcile Prophet's claims with a convincing argument that he DIDN'T eat Shigakai then I'd love to see it.
I just don't think it's possible as Prophet's own words contradict themselves. Oh, and I looked back at the write-ups... still don't see anywhere that has a monster protecting anyone. I see some monsters NOT eating people but one of those was Kong on his wasy to SuperOwens and another was Zilla the Basketball Player (shirt #999999999) wandering through town... both of those look like monsters not killing people because they haven't reached their destinations yet.

He was still searching for a pretty girl to spend some quality time with. He heard something in the next block. Taking a shortcut through an ally he reached the source of the noise. He looked up and up, and up some more. This wasn't what he had in mind.
Slowly he slinked back into the alleyway from which he came.
This is definitely a monster of some kind.
Fits well enough with his story.

Whoa, I never said I got new information. Derek, the way you're twisting things I've said really makes me believe your win condition is my dying. I said that I checked something. Checking something and learning something are two different things.
Also, I don't know what info you send in at night, but I send in locations, so my saying what I checked, essentially gives away location, which is a blatant crossing the line of "where I've been or will be" ... something else I've said throughout. So no, I won't go into specifics that cemented the notion that I didn't eat Shig. I know where I've been every step of the way, and when Shig was eaten, I had questions, so I raised possibilities of whether or not I could have been the one to do the act. I answered those questions the past phase. That's all you get.
I have been as forthcoming as I believe I can be, with every question posed to me. When asked for a role title, I never flinched. I was posting the roar long before you acknowledged Godzilla as a playable character, which means you chalked it up to me being a goof, or you waited until it was cemented I was the big lizard, so you could kill me and fit your goal. I'm leaning towards the latter, because you're a smart player. A lot of people figured I was Godzilla early on, my guess is you did as well, and waited until I flat out claimed, before pouncing.
And then there's the Stay Puft notion. I never considered Stay Puft a monster, as he was in a movie called Ghost Busters. And in the movie, he was forged from a thought ... came from the mind of Ray. So your goal is to turn off Ray? I don't get it. You tippy-toe around who you are, and what you do, and lob these accusations, hoping to bandwagon me, when I've been out in the open from the start. You're either completely overzealous, or your seeking something seedier.

Why would you need to check anything or clarify if it was you that ate Shigakai though? You were either there, or you weren't. And you say you knew where you were... so what were you checking? What doubt could you have had? What possible reason could you have for at any point doubting whether or not you had ate Shiga? I mean, seriously... if I'm wrong about anything, it's because you fell over yourself repeatedly over a period of days about things you were saying.
You said you were unsure if you ate Shiga. Repeatedly. How could you have any doubt? It sounds like you've been trying to protect yourself from being found out, but when called on it, you've just said "I can't say" as your defense. If I done that, I'd be lynched on the spot.
I send in PMs of where I want to go, and I'm on foot. Said so aaaages ago. The game isn't a canonical account of movies, otherwise all these disasters befalling the city couldn't happen at once, that much is obvious. From what I can gather in my PM, I'm securing the Containment Unit and making sure there is no chance anything can escape from it. If anything does, I'll be picking up some gear (and probably some wheels) to put it back.
And if it helps, I'm not one of the 4 guys you would expect me to be. I'm short, bespectacled and determined not to end up having ghosts wandering the town while I'm supposed to be in charge. I'm 2, maybe three steps (dependent on monsters) away from doing what I need to do at the moment.
So once again... why was there any doubt AT ANY TIME? Cos I'm having a really hard time believing you are anything other than another monster at the moment, eating people when you can and hoping to get away with it.

Yes.
Prophet is hiding behind his usual jokey self, but he knows he's been caught doing something he shouldn'e be doing and is now using the old "mod told me I can't say X or I'm modkilled" excuse to avoid getting himself deeper into trouble.
Just playing devil's advocate here, but he said that from the beginning.

For the benefit of ... I was gonna say town, but there really isn't a town here, is there?
No town, exactly... so bak was lying for the benefit of... bak? And to the detriment of anyone else who would put themselves at risk for another couple of phases in order to go where he told them.
Likewise, Prophet not being sure about stuff and having to check it then not be able to say it because of his role. It reeks of, for example, a miller claim... if you say miller (or might be) BEFORE you are investigated people might believe you (unless you are me :p)... claim it afterward and it's scum trying to make a claim. Prophet said he wasn't sure of something, then HOURS after the evidence (I assume widow not being chomped is that evidence, he can't/won't say) he says he knew it. He didn't say it at the time though... he was clearly online and under pressure and it took him ages to come up with any sort of defense.
I don't believe for a moment that he's in favour of the town, but if everyone is willing to risk their own lives against that fact... then so be it. Just don't think I won't be saying I told you so later because, by golly, I will.
I come on strong when I think I'm right OR if I'm trying to force home a point. Alignment isn't really relevant... if the town does something stupid that I'm not a part of, I'll make sure the town knows it. If it does something stupid I am a part of... well, I'll quieten down and accept my share of the blame. Always have, always will.

You kept pestering him to answer, and then decided that no matter his answer, it still made him scummy.
Should have just come outright and said that, but you didn't.
Seems off.
/nod
Here's where things stand, as far as I'm concerned. Prophet may or may not have consumed Shig. He claims he didn't. We don't really know.
Shig was tied up by the rest of us and was clearly worth sacrificing. The fact that he is gone, regardless of who made him their nom nom, is a good thing.
And since I don't know if it was Zilla or Clover, I'm not going to push the matter.
If we see something that looks like Zilla eating an innocent person in the write-up, I saw we act. Until then, I'm willing to let him roam about on the assumption that he fights other monster.
Because sure, Godzilla does scream "destroying Tokyo, flee for your lives!" but, even more than that, Gozilla screems "giant monster battle movies".
And more to the point, my win condition says reunite with the family and escape. Doesn't say "Destroy All Monsters" and, frankly, I'm not terribly interested in trying, as it sounds fairly dangerous.
In short, Derek's play reminds me very much of someone that needs to see Godzilla dead as part of his win condition (hence why I asked earlier) or of someone that is afraid that the big green lizard might interfere with his goals.

I want you to hang, but it's nothing to do with my win condition, which I've already said in the thread. If you are going to be vague about stuff like whether or not you killed someone, then you are going to get questioned until you've made it clear. The onus is on you to NOT put yourself into a position where you look guilty. You failed at that, then took a long time to make a coherent story... and I still don't believe it now, simply for the length of time it took for you to get to that point.
If your first post after the last write up had been "Turns out I don't auto-munch the sacrifices on account of widow not being chomped on... which means I didn't eat Shiga" then this never woulda happened. I still think you aren't here to help people live and it's nothing to do with my win condition. Though as long as you don't eat me, feel free to chow down on the rest of the town...

I STILL don't understand why you would even say something like "it might've been me that ate Shiga" unless you were trying to protect yourself for later in the game. Maybe it's just you being naive, but saying that put you firmly in my sights, for reasons I've stated a million times now. You don't want attention? Then don't say something stupid like that to draw attention to yourself, don't seed a roleclaim as a giant man-eating, city destroying monster in a game where people are running away from giant man-eating, city destroying monsters and generally don't play the way you have done. If I am wrong, it's because you basically laid a trail of evidence to your own doorstep saying "I'm a threat to everyone in the city" while claiming to be a protector... which is frankly an unbelievable claim from the point of view of a short sight, 5 foot tall guy trying to stop another giant monster from being set loose on the city.
I still don't believe you, nor will I trust you til I see your role PM at the end of the game. But since you have enough other people believing you with no evidence to support you, then lead us in a different direction.
Is there anyone we should be stringing up for a monster who isn't you to chow down on? Who do you think we should be looking into?

Just in case it helps, there are 18 people left... and your win condition (as you told it in post 476) requires you to have 13 people left alive. I wanted to find out some old movement patterns of monsters so I could track how far they could move and likely places for protectors to go/people to avoid... but apparantly that was scummy so it's up to you to hunt down killers and work out where monsters are going to be... specially since it'd help you if you are telling the truth about protecting people in areas with other monsts (post 790).

If I was to diagnose it I'd say that with most of the groups in the game seemingly already close to achieving victory and a bunch of individuals running around on their own, that this has led to a lot of people not needing to communicate. Since no-one feels the need to discuss anything that isn't to do with saving themselves, and lynches not being required to eliminate bad people... well, people just don't care.
They don't need to post... at least til we find out for sure whether bak was telling the truth about the exit points having limited numbers of escapees allowed. I'm not sure, but I can't help thinking the family and a few others have all headed to Chelsea with escape plans... remember bak has said only 5 people can escape that way!!

Harsh. I guess you're just waiting for there to be no innocents left before you escape rather than helping them all escape, right?
Well, the way I see it, I can go either route.
Since I can only be killed by people/being tied up, I could just wander around aimlessly. Or sit on an exit, or something.
But then I'd probably get tied up.
Plus, wandering around aimlessly when I could (and am supposed to be) helping people, seems stupid.
And, if your nuke were to, say, take out every single innocent left in the game, I'd probably try to lynch you as I made my way towards the exit.
Glotnot
03-15-2009, 01:06 PM
Actually, my role doesn't really say anything about living people.
It just says I can't leave until all the innocents escape. So, I'm assuming I can still escape if they all die.
I'd just, y'know, rather that not happen, given the nature of my ability.
But theoretically speaking, I could win that way.
Derek B

Less than 40 minutes... guess my nuke didn't go off. Wish something was happening here... if no-one cares enough to talk or do anything, can we at least go for a no lynch next time we get that far? My patience at the lack of posting is wearing thin already....

And yeah, the no lynch thing kind of sucks.
Given that we lynched widowmaker yesterday.
And he didn't die.
And then we got no new information, either damning or relieving.
And then we didn't lynch him anyway.
Hm.

I've pretty much indicated exactly who I am.
Sorry, I'm not much of a movie watcher so if it's in the hints then I'm not likely to get them. I was lucky that I knew my character, and even then I had forgotten his name... but I at least recognised who I was. Other than myself, Zoolander and Godzilla pretty much everyone else is an unknown name to me. *le sigh*

Hm.
I'm sure Godzilla won't mind, he needs 13 people to live so offering up people to the other monsters probably isn't his thing. Though a thought strikes me... the write ups have made it fairly clear that some people are out to find bad people... wonder if their win condition allows them to win even if they don't catch/find them?
Also... deadline seems to have passed a while back, unless I've got the times confused. *le sigh part deux*

With little direction the citizens of New York argued amongst themselves. Perhaps, the citizens were un-worried or perhaps they merely only cared for their own safety, whatever the case, there was little cooperation at this time and no sacrifices were offered.

While you guys hammer out your plans, remember that bak says there are limited numbers allowed to exit from the same place. Plan accordingly and don't all end up in the same place, that would probably be bad for you and your win condition, which would be bad for anyone who wants you out before they can win themselves.
So yeah... planning. It's what's for breakfast and what I intend to eat when I wake up again in 6 hours to get ready for the stupid early shift at work. :(

Does the fact that Comradebot was attacked right before exiting lead any creedance to the possibility all the monsters are being controlled by people?
I mean...it could be coincidence. But, we all knew exactly where he was and that he was about to skip town.
And if C-Bot was here, he would probably tell us there are two things he doesnt believe in; coincidences and leprechauns.

March 4; 11:00PM - 11:45PM
The huddled masses gathered at the Baker & Williams Warehouse. Once used to store the uranium needed to manufacture atomic weapons through the Manhattan Project, the warehouse was now a refuge from the walking weapons that now inhabited the city.
For the first time this night, many felt relief. Families re-united, others simply stopped and took much needed breaks.
And then they heard those crashing sounds. One brave soul stuck his head out the door long enough to see what was happening. The beast was near, and none too happy. In a rage the ape was lifting cars and whatever debris it could find and tossing them about. Buildings were beginning to crumble as they were pelted.
“We have to get out of here” one among them exclaimed.
“But how? He’s too fast, we can’t run for it. Believe me” stated another.
Finally one man came forward. “You all run out the back, I’ll take off down the street and get his attention.”
For some the instructions didn’t need to be uttered a second time, others were a little more reluctant to send one main to his impending doom. But still they all agreed.
He could see the beast from the doorway, but he knew what he had to do. He stepped into the street and began yelling incessantly, until the beast turned its gaze his way.
Quickly the man ran through an ally, the ape in hot pursuit. As agile as he was the beast took to the rooftops in a single leap and tracked the man from above. It was dark as the man ran through the alleyways. He could barely make out the dumpsters and bits of trash and debris as he dodged them on his mad dash. He couldn’t see the beast but could hear it as it jumped from roof to roof tracking him from above as it was much to large to fit in the tight corridors between the buildings.
For just a second he believed that all would be well if he could just stick to the alleys, and then it happened. He burst from between the buildings only to emerge in the middle of the street. Frazzled all he could think to do was dive underneath a parked civic across the street.
He heard the crunch of the parked cars across the way from him as the beast came down from the rooftops. The deafening roar that the beast let loose left his ears ringing. He knew he couldn’t stay underneath this car for too long, as it was only a matter of time before the ape found him there. Frantically he scanned the street for any way out of this mess, and then he saw it. A subway entrance just 20 yards away. He watched from underneath the car, as the beast began his search, tossing debris and pounding through nearby buildings. There was nothing he could do he had to run for it.
He made his dash, away from the beasts eyes as it pounded on a truck parked across the street. Quickly the man dove into the subway, tumbling down the stairs. He would sit and wait there as long as it took, until the beast moved on, satisfied that he’d allowed others to flee to safety.
…………………
The family was re-united. Happy, it was time to end this ill fated vacation. They saw the sign, just a mere mile from their escape. They hurried along beaming that they’d get through this alive. Most of them hurried at least. As they made their way to the exit, one among them continued to have a difficult time of things.
He stopped, looked lovingly at his wife, and wiped the streams of blood from her eyes. She would not be leaving the city with them, that much he could tell. They stopped and sat on the curb letting her rest in their final moments, running his fingers through her hair he stooped in to give her one last kiss. They whispered their love for each other, and then she urged him to take the kids and walk away. Begrudgingly he did, as the family continued on, they heard the loud popping sound coming from behind them.
…………………
He could hear the destruction of the monstrosity throughout the city. Was it close? He couldn’t be too sure, but he really didn’t care. He stopped and looked up at the Federal Reserve building. Finally he had completed his journey, it was time to gather his most precious belongings and leave this city.

Even though I don't doubt the rightness of the lynch, I do think it's bad form to lynch anyone without giving them some time to defend themself. But then, having been the victim of some BAD lynches in recent games I'm starting to develop some strong opinions on lynching... like, remember that time where I was silenced and the scum cop who had a role result on me took several phases to say what had happened to me before then revealing my name? And that time where I was telling everyone about my role, how I'd used it and was answering questions then people STILL lynched me without any actual evidence... yeah.
I'm in favour of giving people time to defend themselves cos it gives people time to think about what they are doing (listening to scum cop) or to realise they are mislynching because of their own paranoia. :p

I'm still curious as to why these are our only exits... there hasn't been any indication in the write ups for why the other tunnels/bridges can't be escaped along/over. Anyone got any word on that yet?Actually I just did with the midnight status report, the routes I get are the ones that have been declared safe by the EDF.
Speaking of the midnight status report here it is.
No changes to report this hour. The exits are: the Lincoln Tunnel in Chelsea (5 people), the Holland Tunnel in Soho (4 people), Brooklyn Bridge in the Lower East Side (7 people) and the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Midtown East (2 people).

March 5; 12:00 - 12:45 AM
The General stopped and looked up at the statue. Funny, this statue was one that was intended to invite and welcome visitors, but then, this city had never seen visitors the likes of those that were now tearing it apart.
He lit his cigar, shaking his head at the sight of the missing face of New York City. He had prepared himself for what must be done, although he knew the opposition would be formidable.
He watched as the baby faced soldier made his way over to him.
“Sir. The briefing is ready to get underway. The Secretary of Defense, the United Nations, and the Earth Defense Force are already here. They are all waiting on you.”
“At ease soldier. Before I head on over there; what’s the status?”
“Well Sir, with little means to contain these things, they’ve torn apart most the city already. Now, it’s just a matter of getting as many survivors out of the city as possible; if there even are any survivors. I mean; have you ever seen anything like this?”
The General ****ed his head and showed just a hint of a smile. “You ever hear of Silverton, son?”
“No, Sir.”
“Well thank the good lord you haven’t.” He stared coldly at the young soldier. “You could say I walked straight through hell on earth in my time in that cesspit. Now let’s get going.”
The young soldier brought the General to the small tent that had served as the base of operations. Upon entering the tent the General wasted no time, in expressing his intentions. “Gentlemen, I think we all know what must be done. We have lost a countless number of lives this night, could be millions, but; if we let this continue and these things break free from Manhattan, we’ll be putting billions of American lives at risk. And I can’t let that happen.”
Immediately, the rest of the table rose up and began to argue the man’s case. But his resolve was steel. “If any of you can make a single reason why, Operation Hammerdown shouldn’t commence immediately, then we’ll talk, but at this time all I hear is a bunch of men afraid to make a tough decision.”
As the crowd began to quiet down, the representative from EDF spoke. “Sir, I respect the delicacy of the situation at hand, but we owe it to the citizens of this city to give them a chance to escape. As it is, many have already escaped through the bridges and tunnels and there are EDF officials already in place. Dealing with these things is our specialty, we’ll get as many people to safety as possible, we just need a few more hours before you make that decision.”
The General paused; the cold hard truth was, just like everyone else at the table the thought of dooming the people of Manhattan to death turned his stomach. Unlike them however, he was strong enough to push past that and make the tough decisions.
He thought long and hard, and eventually spoke. “Alright then, you guys do what it is you do. But realize that you have very little time left, and the next time we convene like this the order for Operation Hammerdown will have already been given.
Also, since the citizens over there insist on running around like chickens with their heads cut off, you need to get a hold of your people ASAP. I’ve read the reports, most of these bridges and tunnels have been damaged beyond repair and have been structurally compromised.”
“As of now, only these exit points shall remain open,” he stated as he pointed the areas out on the map behind him.
“All right gentlemen, you all do what you have to do. Let’s save some lives and then wipe these creatures off the face of the earth.”
…………………
They left with heavy hearts. They knew that nothing would ever really be the same, but at least they would have each other.
…………………
He sat and waited, not even attempting to loosen the duct tape and rope that bound him. In the end he knew he was a bad person and deserved far worse than what was about to happen to him. The building shook as the beast climbed to the top. The man gasped as the enormous hand gripped the roof railing in front of him. And then the face of the ape emerged, gnarly teeth flashing as the beast no doubt anticipated its meal.
He closed his eyes and readied himself for what was to come. But then, an even larger rumble shook the building. He looked up and saw the monstrosity before him. He screamed as its jaws bit into his abdomen, tearing him in half.
Enraged at the missed meal the beast roared at the creature before him. At 30 feet tall, even the beast was dwarfed by its size. Still the beast charged and bound from the rooftop, onto the monstrosities back. He began pounding his fists against the monsters crab-like hide causing it to shake and thrash about. As it did the monstrosity struck buildings sending debris flying.
One such piece of debris, flew straight at a man videotaping the entire event, missing by a fraction of an inch and exploding through the building behind him. Satisfied that he had got what he came for, he quickly left the area, as the beast continued its assault.
Fierce as he was, the beast knew he could not kill the monstrosity, and as quickly as he had mounted the creature, he was off; making a hasty retreat before the thing could recover.

Good work on the family for escaping.
By the looks of things both Kong and Clover tried to eat sprinklefurball, with Clover winning. And after comparing writeups, I can say with certainty that it was Clover that killed both sprinklefurball and Shigakai. The word 'monstrosity' has been mentioned four times now in scenes involving death (if you include where Gruntmark got bitten). It was also the word used to the monster that tried to kill c-bot. On the other hand, 'beast' is the word used to describe Kong (even if both words were used in Self's demise).
It amuses me that a confrontation between monsters did not end in the death of one. Maybe Godzilla needs to be involved.

So 13 players... 8 spaces to exit...
I'm assuming that Godzilla can escape perfectly well on his/her own once enough people escape. How many people have escaped though? Zilla needs 13 in total and I think only 4 have got out so far (off the top of my head)... so does that mean the EDF have their own way out, like helicopters or something? It'd suck if our friendly Zilla couldn't win after the grilling I gave him.

Unless you know for sure that the Clover and Kong are being human controlled, then I'm not sure you are right. Though to be fair, I know very little about your role... though I suspect you were in the first two write ups being chased by monsters, though if I'm right I wish you'd said something about it when I was questioning Prophet.
Which reminds me... with Bateman dead, there should be a few more people out there who can start talking about themselves. If there are only 8 spots left to get out, we should be planning to get out of here ASAP. I'll be heading for the Lower East Side once I'm done, which is soon. I don't think I need to keep it secret any more that I'm heading to Lower Manhattan to get my task done.

At first I wasn't sure, then I agreed with the notion that we all had to get out of Manhattan after completing our assigned task like it said in the first posts. But when Prophet claimed Godzilla, combined with the monster's movements becoming more unexpected, I realised that someone was controlling the monsters.
Look at Clover. Going from Soho to Midtown West in one move? At first I thought it's move was forced because it was a sacrifice, or that it was Godzilla. But the next turn it ignored the sacrifice in an attempt to kill c-bot.
Of course this is all just observation. I'm no more sure of this then I am that it was Clover that killed Shigakai. (That is to say I'm certain without having any actual proof.)

In that case, who do you think we should be looking at? Most of the players left have got a claim of some sort while others have said nothing. With you being one of the people who hasn't claimed anything (I've only speculated about your role) then you'd be one of the people I'd be looking at to clear before looking at the fairly short list of other players who haven't claimed.

Mention another group that couldn't be larger(Than the red 4-6). Would require the monsters to be together for those numbers to even come out close to right.
Is how I read it at first.

Glot, do you think you can go to Gramercy?
Can do. I hid out in East Village last night.
For the record, there appears to be an exorbitant number of green...I don't think all can be entirely innocent.

Huh. I never meant to imply the monsters were a untied group as such; only that of the 6-8 possible scum, 2 were monsters.
So you are a woman... anything else? Like a name? Or a colour? You make it look like you have something to hide by not answering questions, which in turn is making me want to vote on you.

Unless she's a major villain in a movie, I'll trust pretty much everyone over Cloverfield or Kong. They're the big bads afterall.

I hope that the exiits are for civilians and you guys have a different way out. Otherwise it's gonna be a tramplefest to fit 13 into 8.

Widow hinted at being green here (http://67.19.230.90/~arles/forum/showthread.php?p=599646#post599646), but that about it.

I don't believe I technically "escape" per se. And Operation Hammertime or whatever scares me some. :(

Maybe that's simply a time limit, and monsters win if they've survived and completed their objective at that point.

Hmm... now I honestly don't know if each of the movie groups have 2 people plus 1 monster, or 3 people plus 1 monster; but if its the former, either Huss or Widow is lying. Having said that, Widow was telling the truth when he said he'd been mugged, and Huss' claim fits.
Do we go for the other inactive?

He's stalling and trying to redirect attention elsewhere... Upper West Side because it's as far from both exits as it's possible to be. I'm off to watch Destination X (spoiler free!) for the next few hours, Librarian... well, you'd better have given us something because right now you aren't giving us anything.

My mistake. It was Librarian, who claimed you claimed green.
In the movie page, I got this:
Silken Floss: A femme fatale scientist and accomplice to the Octopus.
I'm not based on the comic, I'm based on the movie.
Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss: A femme fatale scientist and accomplice to the Octopus[6]
Eva Mendes as Sand Saref.[7] The actress told director Frank Miller that she wanted to work with him on The Spirit before she had seen a script for the film.[8] Saref is a femme fatale, who perennially seduces and marries wealthy men, has them killed, and uses their money to fund her crime empire in Istanbul and expand her influence and control over the underworld. She is also a tragic anti-heroine, with her police-officer father killed in the line of duty, causing her to have a hatred of police and to break up with her childhood sweetheart, aspiring police officer, Denny Colt.
Hrm. :/
Right next to each other on the list, too.
I haven't actually seen the movie, and I don't know why you'd have any reason to lie anyway, but also considering that your claim wasn't bolded and I don't know what to think. :/
