I'm playing as BCF and just got on TV. Running regular events in london, I'd been getting 1000+ crowds however, even with a full strength card, I only get like 120 people for a TV taping. Why does attendance drop so badly?

Because it's just a TV show. Fans are trained to not expect free TV shows to match up to big shows they have to pay for.

I accept that a TV show isn't as big as a PPV but surely it is bigger than a non-televised event? Cage Rage didn't lose 90% of their crowd when they got onto TV.

Yes, it is bigger than a non-televised event. That's the order of importance - PPV > Non-PPV Events > TV Tapings. That's why the game doesn't expect you to use major talent for the latter, but does for the others.
