It has been confirmed that Travis "Tyson" Tomko, 32, was released from his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment a few weeks ago. Tomko re-signed with the company in November.
Tomko's first match back in the company was a dark match prior to the December 15, 2008 episode of Raw in a winning effort over Paul Burchill. However, he was greatly limited by a torn pec and Vince McMahon thought he looked terrible during his lone outing. The former TNA World Tag Team Champion looked noticeably soft during the match.
WWE's Senior Vice President of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis took a lot of heat over signing Tomko. There was a feeling he should have had a full medical exam before signing him to see if there was a major injury.

Not a surprise. I'm sure he'll land somewhere.

I'm not shocked in the least. Tomko sucks, and will likely forever in my eyes be a poor man's Matt Morgan with a stupid goatee.

Dude, watch those headers. In light of the recent Test news I was thinking "Oh man, not Tomko too." Makes the fact he was merely released from WWE a relief. Don't see much of a place for him and I hope his next spot is someplace I'm not likely to see. I always thought much more of Test than I do Tomko. So if Tomko does show up in TNA or something, it will be hard to fight the "Oh they had to get him because Test is dead" feeling.

Well Tomko was semi main eventing TNA before he left so it would be easy to write him back in and he wasn't too bad although admittadly haven't seen much of his work.

I like Tomko, but I'd be surprised if he ends up back in TNA. He's kind of screwed them twice now.

Quick question while Tomko's fresh on the mind. Is he by chance any relation to Al Tomko who runs the Vancouver territory in DOTT?

Al Tomko is not the father of TNA star Travis Tomko. He does have two sons who also wrestled - Todd Tomko (who used the ring name Rick Davis) and Terry Tomko (who competed as The Frog, first while wearing a mask, and later unmasked).
