The year is 2006. For more than twenty years now, the war between the evil Decepticons and heroic Autobots has raged across Earth and our solar system.

The Decepticons hold planet Earth hostage - they know that the Autobots would sooner lay down their lives than leave this planet and its inhabitants undefended. The millennia-long war on Cyberton continues to rumble on, but finally, with the return of some of the greatest Autobot heroes from Earth, the good guys seem to have the edge. If ever the Decepticons were defeated on Earth, then the Autobots would surely triumph on Cybertron as well.

The Autobots have constructed their own home in North America, a colossal city that serves as a symbol to the people of Earth that the Autobots have a stake in their planet's future - that they will stand and fight so long as the Energon holds out. It is host both to Transformers visiting from Cybertron, and to those who now feel almost native to Earth... and to a number of uninvited guests. For the Decepticons have made their move. The Battle for Autobot City, a last ditch assault by the forces of evil, a battle that may turn the fortunes of the entire war in just a few short days...

Put me down as an alt for now... haven't been a fan of transformers since I was a kid but even then I was never much of a fan, except in the kiddy sense. So will mull it over and see if I feel like playing later, even though I'm in no doubt that it'll be a fun game... I should give myself some kind of break eventually, my computer will one day die from all the notes I take... or become sentient. :p

Am I to take it this is based in the recent irritation that was the CGI movie? I wasn't aware the Autobots had their own city here on Earth. I tend to think of them being tucked into that desert cliffside from the old-school series.

I take it you didn't watch Transformers: The Movie? Not the Michael Bay special effects flick but the animated movie from 1986, where Optimus Prime dies, Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime, Megatron becomes Galvatron, etc. Autobot City made its debut in that movie, and was present in the regular series following, where Rodimus Prime lead the Autobots.

Nope. Never saw it and hated the garbage that came after it. Rodimus Prime and Galvatron and all that stuff paled for me in comparison to the pre-movie material. But those references tie it. I'm out.

I didn't know who half the characters were going in, now I often scare my friends with dated references to Tommy Rich and the Moondogs.

I'm guessing that this mafia will before the film; i.e. Optimus Prime is still alive, as is Ironhide, Ratchet, etc, since Signor Casey expressed preference for G1. While Autobot City made its first appearance in the movie, since it was pretty much completely built at that time, it's safe to assume it was built before the events of the movie.

I'm wondering if one of our goals is to transform Autobot City into Metroplex: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroplex_(Transformers)

Incidentally, one could watch the film on youtube if they wish.

As for the year, well, the early drafts of the scripts put the (canon) BFAC in 2006, which made it into the British comics, which I read as a kid (and have today in trade paperback...) The date used is a nod to that. I've been developing this for over a year now - I've had time to make it pretty detailed.
