Surely it is based on the rules of the promotion but wrestling and jijitsu seem very important and knock out and clinch skills less so. Most strikers win based on decision for me. Even Chuck Dooley versus Khru Dhrugan went to Decision in a 45 minute fight.

To me one of the single most important stat seems to be the Killer Instinct 'cause it results the fights to be ended with a KO, TKO or submission and not a decision. Or atleast the fighters are going for the definite ending of the fights which seems to increase the match rating :)

That is mainly due to the stats. Remember, the stats are done on a fairly linear scale, so when it comes to knock outs you need to look primarily at the power of the blow vs. the opponent's chin (obviously there's more to it than that, but the basic calculation starts with that).

Khru has a chin of 100 and punch power of 73.

Chuck has a chin of 64 and punch power of 91.

Therefore Chuck is going to find it very very hard to KO Khru without hitting a perfect punch, so his most likely finish is a Decision. Khru can KO Chuck, but it's far from a foregone conclusion as there's only 9 points difference, so a Decision is still quite likely for him too.
