Sometimes a poor ground fighter will unintentionally get a dominant ground position, usually after knocking the opponent down and trying to finish the fight. Up to now I've never seen them intentionally try to leave this position and stand up. I've seen them avoid going to the ground to begin with, but never an intentional attempt to leave a dominant ground position in order to keep the fight on the feet.
Perhaps my sample size is bad and this actually does happen, but so many times I see these guys get a good position on the ground and start throwing strikes, when you know the moment the opponent attempts a submission they will get tapped out 100% of the time. (which is what seems to happen almost every time)
