Just a reminder to those of you who don't download the temporary patches on a regular basis, it is well worth getting the latest version. There are multiple improvements to the match engine, including several new moves and counters, improvements to existing features, some new move commentary variations that give extra information, and new colour commentary parts that give extra information on the fighters.

Do I have to download all the patches to get everything that's been in them, or do they come in this patch as well ?

You just need the most recent one.

Matches run longer now so we definately need more fighters. No longer are stand up fighters screwed though.

Can you explain why longer matches have any impact on how many fighters are needed please, I can't see what logic you are basing that statement on.

Probably that longer matches seem to mean longer recovery times for the fighters before they can be booked again.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Fighters might need 4 months after KO'ing someone in less then a minute.

Anyway, thanks Adam for the continuous support. _O_

Slightly longer matches aren't going to have any effect on recovery times at all.

Matches run longer now

Why is this? Did I miss discussion on this somewhere?

I actually noticed this with my first post patch card and was coming here to see if it was a bug. Seems to be working as intended though. Was shocked to see Manuel Silva, Diego Arteta and Danny Akabaro all fail to finish their cans on the card. Was even more shocked to see Tony McCall fail to finish an end of the line Norbert Vinkus in a 3 round battle that never hit the ground and then in the main event Mike Watson go to a decision as well.

Danny Akabaro couldn't finish an old rigid paper bag in 3 rounds in my game.

I've not installed the new patch yet, but I'm sort of interested in seeing if this changes some of the good fighters who can't seem to win into winners through UD.

It is the result of a change to the way submission are handled, in that the fighter on the defense can focus his attention purely on avoiding \ blocking submissions rather than worrying about anything else, and as such is more likely to be able to survive for longer when being on the ground. Therefore fights that involve a fighter going for a submission will likely last a little bit longer than they did before.

The standing game has not been altered in any significant way (just new strikes being added), so your comments about McCall and Watson are purely coincidental, nothing in the patches would have made them less able to finish a fight with strikes.

Ah, was just an awful card I guess. :D

Although I guess the game telling me the card was awful after it was ran should have been a huge clue.

I've never not seen him turn out to be a top 5 MW.

He's like 2-6 for me. He can beat middle of the line guys sometimes, but will get destroyed by anyone else.

2-6? He's 18 and talented. Baby steps man, baby steps. Keep him away from the best early and you will be happy as he hits his prime.

I tried feeding him cans for his first 6 fights, he won twice and lost 4 times. Lately he gets whoever I'm trying to build up, but wouldn't be to hurt if they lost since I'm almost positive he'll loose, but he's got enough skills to upset anyone.

In my game he's currently 10-1 (9 match winning streak), my reigning Light Heavyweight Champion, and has achieved low level national status in Europe. Oh, and he's only ever won one match by decision with 9 (T)KOs being the rest of his victories.

Akabaro is now 11-11 in my game. I sorta use him as a can to the stars, he's just not that good for me.

Before a fight started in the pbp it said one of my fighters was rumored to have a virus but his camp denied it. Never seen it before, does this affect his performance?

I've had a similar pre-fight thing with Milton Harvey rumoured to be not concentrating on training for the fight. He was subbed in minutes. That usually happens anyway though I guess.

Also had this for a fight, and he too lost. But he was supposed to as well!

My fight saw Murilo Satinho come in with the virus. He gassed about half way through the first round and was TKO'd standing in the third by Tank Manu'a.

Just had Rav Kapur have 'motivation issues' and he got TKO'd. So far 3 for 3 with build-up problems leading to defeat.

Love the between round corner reports as well.

4 for 4 - early impressions are any pre-fight problems are not good news!

Same here, had a big match in my UKC dynasty between Eien Kawano and Sylvester Collins. Kawano came in with "rumors of an illness" during training camp and Collins made short work of him in what should have been a competitive fight.

I love this addition BTW.

I've had Villar win his first 'can'-fight, although he had problems before the fight started. He did have a very tough time finishing his opponent though.

Motivational issues do make a difference. Right now I'm 3/4 as for the note appearing and the fighter in question losing.
