What about a game based on pro cyclism?

You are the manager of a cycle team.

You must decide

Sponsors
Season goals
Hire cyclists (different style: sprinter, crawler, cronoman...)
Maybe you must hire even pysiotherapist and trainer
Race tattics
Training to decide at what time of the season the different racers are on top

Of course there's a "team war" to establish who's the no.1 team of the year.
Of course young characters can grow and develop and older must loose some (i.e. endurance, sprint..)
Of course there would be a "looker room harmony"

Of course you must decide the different role for the races:

Captain for the long races (i.e. Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta d'Espana)
Main Sprinter
"Lineman"
Jolly
And so on..

It could be even decide that you got a boss who give you same goals (as in TEW) for the season or middle time period goals

Some examples of goals:
For a small team could be: win at least no. X races in a year and obtain at least X point in the team wars. Or try to enter in the best X teams.

For a medium one: try to enter in the top no. X teams in 3 years. Conquest the right to partecipate in 1/2 high level Tour Races

For a big one: win the Pro Tour. Win at least one of the Main three long tour (Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta d'Espana)

There is already a game like this, the 2009 version is coming out in a week or so. It's pretty good in my opinion and it'll be hard for smaller teams like GDS to make a better game in that genre.

How is it on folks who don't really know the sport? Would this a way to learn it or do you have to know it already?

I personally think it's not that fun if you don't know the sport. Not much to learn about it though. The goal is to get over the finish line first. :p It's more a strategy game than a manager game though, you have to decide when you attack, who and when you refill your empty drink cans, after which rider yours should position before the sprint etc... There's a demo somewhere on the site I think.

Dude, you play PCM as well? You should come to the forum i'm on. It's procyclingmanager.com :)

anyway, I don't think Adam should make this. Firstly, I'm gambling that he doesn't know a thing about cycling, or just basic things. And with already 2 competing products, one of them which is free, (even though they might suck) would just be a bit foolish. And the market is WAY smaller on a worldly basis then with wresling/mma.

Yup, I play it. Not much anymore though. And I'm already a member of that forum.

You're right about the market being smaller. It would be foolish for a company based in the USA to make a cycling game in my opinion. :)
