Hi, Guys. This is my first attempt at a Diary on these boards so please don’t been too harsh on me although any feedback is welcome. I have come to this board daily and have been a fan of Adam’s games since the first EWR, I think it was called and bought all the Wrestling and MMA games since. I have no ideas how to add pictures to the story or make fliers like on some of the other stories, if you know how please do share and I’ll use them. Also if anyone could make a logo for TWA that would be cool. If anyone has created fighters that they would like added to the database and story please send me the details and will add them and give updates, also mention if you would like me to hire them or to see what happens on it’s own.
The company I will be using is regional 25% popularity and will be the original database with the latest patch installed.
Many Thanks and hope you enjoy. Paul.
The Dimmest Light In Vegas
1st December 1998
It was earlier afternoon by the time I got out of bed and my head was pounding as a result of drinking far too much alcohol to celebrate my 21st birthday. I was unemployed and had been feeling sorry for myself for a few months now, after being sacked from Gamma for attacking Matt Tripp, their President and part owner for not keeping his part of the deal to a pay rise I was promised if I won the 3 fights on my initial contact, which I did. Sure it wasn’t my smartest move but I am a man of principle if nothing else.
Still this happened 6 months ago and as a result I was set packing back to England, tail tucked between my legs after telling everyone I was going to be a household name and burnt too many bridges doing so. I received a 2 year ban from competing in any MMA contest in America as a result. I had an offer from The BCF to go their, but it was America, Japan or nothing for me; BCF just wouldn’t make me the Star I wanted to be.
Now I don’t remember much about the events of last night but I do have feeling that I spoke with Lance Decker owner of The Warriors Arena in Nevada. Lance is strange one, he’s brutally honest and talks some **** sometimes but you always know where you are with him. I never met the guy until after I left Gamma and to be honest never would have if I hadn’t busted Matt Tripp up. Lance called me the day after it happened and said I had a job with him whenever I wanted it as he to had been double crossed with money by Matt when they formed Gamma together.
I had a shower, made myself a strong coffee and checked my answer phone. Sure enough there was a message from Lance. It didn’t make to much sense, just said so do we have a deal? Check your email and call me back. I did as Lance asked me and checked my email deleted the usual spam mail including one about penis enlargement, settled down with my drink and read the email; to say I was surprised by the content would be an understatement. Lance was offering me the job of President of his company. They had a average roster of some veterans and some untested rookies and had been losing money as Lance had other business he was taking care of as well as The Warriors Arena and wanted me to run and put Gamma out of business or at least take the lime light and be America’s number one MMA company. We shared a mutual love of MMA and hate of Matt Tripp and saw this as the fuel to destroy them.
I didn’t have to think twice about the offer and called him back straight away. I didn’t have a clue what the time was his end but he answered the phone and we agreed a deal that would see me take over officially on the 1st of January 1999. The company had $100,000 left in the kitty but said we would talk if more was needed provided we were heading in the right direction. I also arranged for my cousin LK and girlfriend Alanna to move over with me. LK would work alongside me and Alanna would do the accounts.
Lance emailed me across the contracts I signed mine and took LK and Alanna theirs, they were shocked but excited by the news and I faxed them back to Lance. The Deal was done in one short month Paul “Bad Intentions" Bradley would be back in US and running Lance’s little MMA Company.

2nd January 1999
A press conference had been set up for me where my new job role as president of TWA would be made official. I only had been back in the US for less than a week as I wanted to have Christmas with my family back home before the move. I was feeling good, the jetlag had gone as so was the hangover from yesterday, I made my way out and took a seat.
Lance introduced me, as I was seated and waited for the press to question me.
Reporter:
“Welcome back, to the US Paul. I hope this time you can make a name for the right reasons. What made you want to take on this challenge?”
Me:
“Well, Lance and I spoke and I was interested straight away. I’ve never thought of doing this kind of thing before but I love this sport, the fans and I hate Matt Tripp.”
Reporter:
“Matt’s made it clear that he doesn’t like you either and will do his up most to put you out of business. Gamma are much larger than TWA and have a lot of big names, how do you expect to compete?”
Me:
“It’s gonna take time, Rome wasn’t built in a day and nor was Gamma. There are a few good unknown fighters here under contract, which I think we can build up and draw in new fans. There’s a big fan base for this sport here and we will provide a cheaper option.”
Reporter:
“Will you be releasing any of your fighters from their contracts, and any others you have an eye on?
Me:
“No one will be leaving, as for new talent, there are a few people that I have my eye on but now’s not the time to go into that. Although if Hassan, wants to leave Alpha-1 and fight here for free I won’t say no. ”
We finished the press conference with announcing our first event to take place on the 4th Saturday of January.

TWA 1 – A New Dawn
Saturday Week 4 January 1999
Welterweight Championship Tournament 1st Round
(W) Rich Robinson (2-0) beat Pirmun Zubriggen (11-7) by TKO in 3.55 Round 2
Both fighters seemed nervous in the first round, mostly keeping their distance and using their jabs. Robinson did some nice work up against the cage at the end of the 1st round. The second started cagey until Robinson got the take down and worked his way in mount and Ground & Pounded his way to victory.
Verdict: Decent
(W) Nathan Chambers (0-0) beat Zachary Gilbert (11-6) by UD in 3 Rds.
The rookie Chambers dominated the fighter with better strikes and some nice leg kicks. He tried to get a takedown but failed on each occasion. Chambers rocked Gilbert in the 1st and 3rd rocks with counter punches but was unable to finish. All 3 judges scored the bout 30-27 Chambers.
Verdict: Decent
(W) Evan Pizzaro (1-0) beat Junmal Skinner(4-3) by UD in 3 Rds.
Pizzaro exploded into action in this one grappling with Skinner and then working a Muay Thai clinch and hitting some big knees that busted Skinner open. Skinner showed great guts and courage by seeing out the round. The second and 3rd rounds where slower paced with Pizzaro using a lot of energy early on. Skinner got desperate late on trying with no avail to land a big knockout punch. All 3 judges scored the bout 30-25 Pizzaro.
Verdict: Decent
(W) Chad Zoff (0-0) beat Cooper Richardson (10-5) by UD in 3 Rds.
This one will go down in MMA history as one of the worst fights ever. Most of the match was fought up against the cage, wrestling for position. The fans grew restless and could smell blood. In The 3rd Zoff got Richardson in the Muay Tha clinch and showed how it shouldn’t be done missing every knee thrown. It looked like a fake wrestling match rather than a MMA one. At least Cooper didn’t sale the missed knees.
Verdict: Poor
Welterweight Championship Tournament Semi Finals
(W) Rich Robinson (3-0) beat Nathan Chambers (1-0) by TK0 in 2.17 Round 3
A great fight with both guys not afraid to trade blows. Chambers threw some big punches each time Robinson tried to shoot for the take down. The match was even heading into the 3rd round. There Robinson caught a body kick and scored with the take down from there worked his way into mount and started to mess Chambers face up with some heavy shots, causing the ref to stop the fight.
Verdict: Excellent
Evan Pizzaro (2-0) beat Chad Zoff (1-0) by UD in 3 Rds
Zoff got the better in the 1st round reversing a takedown, but only got to half guard. Pizzaro won the second with better stand up fighting. Pizzaro won the third by scoring with 2 separate takedowns. All 3 judges scored this one 29-28 Pizzaro.
Verdict: Good
Welterweight Championship Match
Evan Pizzaro (3-0) beat Rich Robinson (4-0) by UD in 5 Rds
Robinson seemed to change his tactics for this one and rarely went for takedowns, Pizzaro instead using this tactic. It was a pretty even encounter with Robinson’s best work up against the cage and Pizzaro with his takedowns. Either fighter looked like getting a knockout or submission on the opponent and so was left in the judges hands. All 3 scored the bout 48-47 Pizzaro crowning him The New TWA Welterweight Champion.
Verdict: Good
Main Event
Sylvester Collins (3-0) beat Stan Blackheath (20-9) by TKO in 1.19 Round 1
Blackheath started off by throwing a jab, from there Collins just exploded with some massive shots that trapped Blackheath against the cage. That was all she wrote and the fat lady in the front row started singing.
Verdict: Great
The feedback on Blurcats website showed that most fans thought the event was excellent. Lets just hope they tell 2 friends, then they tell 2 friends and they tell 2 friends and so on, so we get a bigger crowd than the 255 that showed up for this one. Gate Receipts came to $3,825 causing a monthly loss of $10.696.
As expected we suffered a fairly heavy loss but hopefully these tournaments will help quickly make some stars that can headline upcoming shows. Collins was awesome and the 4 guys that made the semis all have a future in the sport. One thing I will be looking at is making the rounds longer as to many matches went the full duration.
Retirements
Santiago Toss called it quits aged 35 with a record of 8-16
Diana Marr also called it quits aged 33 with a record of 0-3
It’s fair to say that neither will be to badly missed from the world of MMA.
February 1999
February was going to a busy month at TWA HQ with not 1 but 2 events booked, the first on Saturday week 2 and another on Saturday week 4.
The first event for February is entitled TWA 2 – Here Come The Heavies. And will be an 8 man heavyweight tournament, with the main event being the tournament final. The Winner will face the beast that is Sylvester Collins in the near future for the TWA Heavyweight Championship.
The 4 opening round matches are:
Frank Analysis (36-19) Vs Frank Sheedy (22-7)
Eien Kawano (3-0) Vs Don Norman (22-14)
Murilo Satinho (0-0) Vs Collins Lundie (8-3)
Bence Boder (34-18) Vs Barry Strachan (24-15)
The next event is Who You Calling A Lightweight? Again featuring an 8 Man tournament, this time for….you guessed it Lightweights. With the 2 biggest names in the company at the moment Truck Gleeson (14-4) squaring off against Sammy Gaffigan (15-1) for the TWA Lightweight Championship. The news is that both of these fighters have better deals else where, but I’ll deal with them jumping ship if and when it happens.
The 4 opening matches for the Lightweight tournament are:
Ivan Bokhour (5-0) Vs Nuno Valentino (0-0)
Shuler Eigenberg (9-2) Vs H.M Menzal (10-3)
Carl Chenoworth (1-0) Vs Drauzio Simaan (5-0)
Chico Feijo (6-2) Vs Bosco Curbeam (0-0)

TWA 2 – Here Come The Heavies Saturday Week 2 February 1999
Heavyweight No1 Contender Tournament 1st Round
(H) Frank Sheedy (27-7) beat Frank Analysis (36-19) by UD in 3rds.
Analysis took Sheedy down in the first but was quickly swept into mount and pounded on causing a cut under his eye, but managed to survive and scramble back to feet. In the second Analysis used better stand up and again got a take down only for the same to happen again. The 3rd was all stood up with Analysis looking the sharper. All 3 judges scored the bout 29-28 for Frank Sheedy.
Verdict: Decent
(H) Eien Kawano (3-0) beat Don Norman (22-14) by UD in 3 Rds.
Norman rocked Kawano early on with a nice counter, but was soon slammed to the mat and mounted, with Kwano landing several shots in the first. Norman came out swinging in the second, his fists that is; he didn’t put his car keys in a bowl and floored Kawano after 2 big barrages of punches. Kawano scrambled and recovered well. In the 3rd Kawano got a takedown, worked for mount and got Norman’s back after he rolled but couldn’t finish Norman off. All 3 judges scored it 29-28 for Eien Kawano
Verdict: Great
(H) Murilo Satinho (0-0) beat Collins Lundie (8-3) by submission in 3.29 of Round 1.
The big scary Brazilian dominated, wrestling Lundie up against the cage, and then easily took him down. Lundie blocked a Kimura but then took a few shots in the face before Satinho locked in an Arm Triangle for the submission.
Verdict: Good
(H) Barry Strachan (24-15) beat Bence Boder (34-18) by UD in 3 Rds.
Boder rocked Strachan early only with a big punch but after that was mostly controlled against the cage whilst Strachan used dirty boxing to rack up the points. All 3 Judges scored this one 30-27 for Barry Strachan.
Verdict: Decent
Heavyweight No1 Contender Tournament Semi Finals
(H) Eien Kawano (4-0) beat Frank Sheedy (28-7) by UD in 3 Rds.
Kawano dominated the match and it never should have gone the distance, after getting in good positions in all 3 rounds. The mount in the 1st and had Sheedy’s back in the 2nd and 3rd but couldn’t lock in a rear naked choke or finish it with punches although he did threaten to. This was scored 30-27, 30-26 and 30-35 all in favour of Eien Kawano.
Verdict: Decent
(H) Murilo Satinho (1-0) beat Barry Strachan (25-15) by submission in 2.11 of Round 1
Satinho is just scary when he gets going and looks like we have a future star in our hands. Satinho used his wrestling skills then picked up Strachan like he was nothing and slammed him to the ground causing the arena to shake, slipped into mount with ease grabbed an arm and locked in an armbar for the easy win.
Verdict: Fantastic
Heavyweight No1 Contender Tournament Final
(H) Murilo Satinho (2-0) beat Eien Kawano (5-0) by submission in 1.04 of Round 3
We found out that Satinho is human after all I this one. He was behind after the first 2 rounds after being held against the cage and wrestled for best part of the match and couldn’t get Kawano off his feet. The 3rd round was business as usual, Satinho came out knowing he had to finish it as was behind and planted Kawano with a huge punch that decked Kawano, he quickly pounced on an arm for the armbar submission.
Verdict: Good
The show was again voted as being excellent, but the gate was disappointing, only up by 31 people from the last show for 286 and $4,290 in gate receipts. We lost another $10,363 but we are gaining popularity fingers crossed the bigger names and an actual headline match will bring in a bigger crowd. Murilo Satinho was the star of the show without a doubt and with a bit of luck will be a huge draw for us in the future, Kawano also looked pretty good although only fought journey men.

News In General
Lance has been pretty cool with things so far and doesn’t seem to pi$$ed off with fact that we have lost money, as we have been getting more popular and feels that we are going in the right direction. LK has been working on a website for us I don’t see the point of it, I can’t really see this whole worldwide web thing being to popular, and he was more excited than me watching a Jenna Jameson film when he heard that Microsoft Windows 98 would be released next week. He’s done some profiles for some of our fighters here’s part of one he’s done for Sylvester Collins.
Name: Sylvester Collins
From: Thunder Bay, Ontario
Why are you called the Big Show?
“You’ll have to ask my girlfriend see came up with it.” Gives a wink.
When was the last time you cried?
“Last year when I watched Titanic, why did Jack have to die, couldn’t they have taken it in turns? Next question my head hurts thinking about it.”
Favourite Food:
“Fried Chicken…Damn this is easy.”
Who would you most like to fight?
“Once I’ve been that samba muppet Murilo, I’d like to fight Hassan if I got the chance he’s the best in the world. He must be the only man alive that gets free kebabs wherever he travels.
Why did you chose fighting as a living?
“Coz I can’t act, dance or sing.”

Satinho is a beast. He's definitely someone that a start-up promotion can be built around. I've played a couple of games as HILITE and he's been a real star for me both times. So has Sylvester Collins, whose size, look, and decent starting name recognition make him a great headliner for a smaller promotion in the US. In my games I always tried to protect Collins early in his career, and he generally shot up in popularity very quickly. In my last attempt at HILITE, he had mid-level national popularity after only three or four fights--all main event victories against glorified cans. I've found it easier to build up his popularity than Satinho's, although Satinho is probably the better fighter.
I've also found that it's pretty easy to take down GAMMA once you get a PPV deal and can afford to compete for bigger name fighters. If destroying GAMMA is your goal, I'd suggest selling out to gain popularity as quickly as your finances will allow because I've found that GAMMA management tends to be unwilling to pay market wages to their big name fighters. If you're not there to steal their headliners when they become available, ALPHA-1 probably will be.
Looking forward to seeing how your HILITE develops. I'll be reading . . .

TWA 3 – Who You Calling A Lightweight? Saturday Week 4 February 1999
Lightweight Tournament 1st Round
Nuno Valentino (0-0) beat Ivan Bokhour (5-0) by submission in 4.51 of Round 1
In the battle of the pretty boys, Ivan showed of his better stand up game forcing Valentino to shoot for the takedown, from there he quickly got into mount, grabbed an arm and cracked it good and tight forcing the tap out.
Verdict: Great
Shuler Eigenberg (9-2) beat H.M Menzal (10-3) by KO in 1.46 of Round 3
A clash of styles with Menzal wanting to fight on the ground, and Shuler wanting it a stand up affair. Both showed their advantage in the chosen areas for the first two rounds. At the start of the 3rd Shuler throw a bomb of a right hand that knocked Menzal out cold instantly.
Verdict: Fantastic
Carl Chenoworth (1-0) beat Drauzio Simaan (5-0) by TKO in 0.46 of Round 2
Chenoworth had the better of the first round, blocking a takedown attempt with a good sprawl and forcing a face lock, from the pounded away until Simaan got to his feet. Chenowrth then rocked Simaan with a punch that wobbled him. At the start of the second Simaan shoot in for the take down but was rocked by a counter punch, Chenoworth then unleashed a big barrage of punches calling the ref to stop the fight.
Verdict: Great
Bosco Curbeam (0-0) beat Chico Feijo by UD in 3 Rds.
Bosco looked strong throughout the matched and spent most of the match forcing Chico up against the cage. True action was pretty much no existent, with Bosco getting a Muay Thai clinch and failing to land any offence. The match went to the score cards. 2 Judges scored it 30-27 and 1 29-28 all in Curbeam’s favour.
Verdict: Decent
Lightweight Tournament Semi Finals
Shuler Eigenberg (10-2) beat Nuno Valentino (1-0) by KO in 3.48 of Round 2
Shuler showed of his sticking skills in the first round, having a clear advantage before Nuno got a takedown at the end of the round. Nuno didn’t get the chance to do much from there as the time expired. In the second Nuno, looked really sharp scoring with some nice legs until…Boom..Huge Punch out of nowhere from Shuler and Nuno is out like a light.
Verdict: Great
Carl Chenoworth (2-0) beat Bosco Curbeam (1-0) by UD in 3 Rds.
Chenoworth took the first round using kicks and punches to rack up points and keep Bosco at a distance. The second Bosco dominated using his dirty boxing skills to keep Chenoworth up against the cage. Even Steven going into the last round. Chenoworth blocked a takedown got a facelock latched in and pounded away and then used a variety of kicks and punches to take the round. All 3 judges scored this bout 29-28 for Chenoworth.
Verdict: Decent
Lightweight Tournament Final
Shuler Eigenberg (11-2) beat Carl Chenoworth (2-0) by KO in 4.21 of Round 3
An exciting match with both fighters wanting to slug it out, Shuler with his fists and Chenoworth with kicks, the first 2 rounds were pretty tight but Chenoworth did knock Shuler to the ground with a big head kick which he shook off. Chenoworth looked good in the 3rd using the kicks that had worked so well until…Boom big bomb out of nowhere again and Shuler takes the win.
Verdict: Great.
Main Event for the TWA Lightweight Championship
Truck Gleeson (14-4) beat Sammy Gaffigan (15-1) by TKO in 3.28 of Round 4
An explosive match packed with drama, saw Truck Gleeson pull of a major upset up beating the highly touted Sammy Gaffigan. Gaffigan rocked Gleeson in the first as they traded punches back and forth. In The second Gaffigan scored with a knock down after hitting 2 big barrages of punches that put Gleeson down, but couldn’t get the advantage on the ground as were stood up. In the 3rd Sammy wobbled Truck with a sweet high kick only for Gleeson to fire back with a brutal head kick, somehow Sammy’s head remained attached to his body and he didn’t go down. In the forth Sammy went swinging looking for a big punch but has knocked down with another brutal head kick from Gleeson, who has on top of him in a heartbeat dropping bombs causing the referee stoppage. Gleeson is the new TWA Lightweight Champion.
Verdict: Fantastic.
Another excellent show, but the most pleasing aspect was the jump in attendance with 625 people for $12,500 in ticket sales. Still after hiring some new fighters our new balance is $70,747 which could be worse. Again the worry is that the better fighters in this division have better deals elsewhere and can walk if they want including my new Champion. TWA 4 – Stuck In The Middle With You - Saturday Week 2 March1999
Middleweight Tournament 1st Round
Esteban Vega (2-0) beat Drew Jenks (5-1) by KO in 0.27 of Round 3
Jenks looked pretty good for the first 2 rounds catching Vega’s leg for a takedown in the 1st. Vega responded by locking in a triangle that Jenks somehow got out of by lifting Vega and Powerbombing him Psycho Sid style into the mat. Drew also got into mount as the second round ended. He really should have finished it there as Vega came out, hit a head kick and that was all she wrote.
Verdict: Decent
Casim Yenkini (11-2) beat Carson Neuwirth (10-14) by submission in 3.36 of Round 1
Yenkini finished this one quick, hitting a couple of strike before getting the takedown and locking an armbar from side control.
Verdict: Good
Bixente Fontaine (8-2) beat Bradley Dixon (17-9) by TKO in 4.40 of Round 3
Not the most exciting match until the last round, as all that happened before that was swapping jabs with Bixente being the busier. In the 3rd Bixente countered a takedown with a punch that dropped Dixon. Bixente pounced into side control and dropped some big punches until the ref stopped the match.
Verdict: Good
Jakuchu Abe (0-0) beat Bart Diggs (5-2) by KO in 2.27 of Round 1
This one looked pretty even as the wrestled with each other, then within 10 seconds of separating Diggs was looking for his missing teeth after being knocked out by a huge punch from rookie Abe.
Verdict: Fantastic
Middleweight Tournament Semi Finals
Esteban Vega (3-0) beat Casim Yekini (12-2) by TKO in 2.28 of Round 2
Casim took round one, catching a leg after both had been trading strikes and getting the takedown, from there he just smothered Vega. Casim tried and failed getting a takedown in the second, so threw a jab at Vega, who dodged it and hit a brutal head kick sending Casim to the floor. Vega tried to get on top but Casim scrambled to his feet only to be hit with a big barrage of punches up against the cage for the stoppage.
Verdict: Great
Jakuchu Abe (1-0) beat Bixente Fontaine (9-2) by submission in 3.30 of Round 1
Abe made in 2 wins in just under 6 minutes of fighting after wrestling Bixente to the mat, mounting him and getting the submission via armbar.
Verdict: Great
Middleweight Tournament Final
Jakuchu Abe (2-0) beat Esteban Vega (4-0) by UD in 3 Rds
A match up that I as well as the crowd where looking forward to, turned out to be a bit of a disappointment and had controversial ending. Abe was wobbled in the first and knocked down in the second and third rounds with strikes but still manage to win 29-28 with all 3 judges. Abe did get a couple of takedowns but didn’t do much from there and was saved by the bell at the end of the 2nd. Vega looked unhappy with the decision and appeared to spit in Abe’s direction.
Verdict: Decent
Main Event TWA Middleweight Championship Match
Alex Cole (9-0) beat Greg Atteveld (37-14) by UD in 5 Rds.
A technical battle that was one due to Cole scoring with the more takedowns, from there both tried and failed submission attempts on each other from every position they where in. Hardly a punch was thrown in this one whilst they were standing. Cole nearly finished the match in rounds 2 and 3 with strikes from mount position but the bell saved the grizzly veteran on both occasions. All 3 judges scored this one 50-45 for Cole making him the TWA Middleweight Champion.
Verdict: Average
Show Ranking: Excellent
Attendance: 619 down by 6
Gate: $12,380
Although slightly disappointed by the attendance it wasn’t a surprise as we didn’t have the same name value headlining this event as last time, and our next show has Zachary Gilbert in the main event coming off a loss as Evan Pizzarro is the only fighter available big enough to headline…Oh The joy of working on a budget. Still I was very impressed with Esteban Vega despite his defeat in the final with Jakuchu looking a future contender also. Vega and Abe will lock horns again in the future I’m sure. This show has again got me thinking that the rounds aren’t long enough as both Vega and Cole could have finished their matches had they had more time. As for Vega I’ll watch the replay to see if he did spit at Abe and deal with it then.
The Next Day
I reviewed the footage of the match between Vega and Abe and Vega did spit at Abe, so I called him into my office. He came in wearing baggy jeans and a white vest…As if I’d expect anything else.
Me: “What the f**k where you thinking spitting at Abe?”
Vega: “I was pi$$ed off, that was a f**ked call you feel me?”
Me: “Yeah…I feel you but I can’t have that kind of behaviour in our company it’s not good for business. I’m fining you your match purse for the last match which you’ll give to the charity of Abe’s choosing.”
Vega: “Ok Holmes…I’ll do it…But I want a rematch.”
Me: “Don’t worry that’ll happen I don’t know when but it will. Now keep out of trouble, take a holiday or something just chill out, everyone loses…We’ll everyone but Hassan.”
With that Vega went… and the phone started ringing it was Eugene Clough saying that he was going to retire after his next match, which was in 2 weeks time against Kanezane Fujii. No idea what the future holds for this veteran but it’s safe to say it won’t be modelling.

TWA 5 – He’s Not Heavy, He’s A Light Heavyweight
Saturday Week 4 March 1999
(H) Kanezane Fujii (0-0) beat Eugene Clough (37-35-2) by UD in 3 Rds
Fujii looked fantastic up until actually finishing the fight; he took Eugene down at will and easily got into mount and had his back, but couldn’t finish it by submission or strikes. All 3 judges scored this one 30-26 for Fujii.
Light Heavyweight Tournament 1st Round
William Harrison (3-0) beat Lenny McFadden (6-0) by UD in 3 Rds
Harrison controlled the whole match but will need to improve his ground game to get further in sport. He got takedowns at will but couldn’t get a better position on the ground and never threatened with strikes. He did however land 2 big slams and looked very strong wrestling. All 3 judges scored this one 30-27 Harrison.
Allen LeFleur (0-0) beat Arkan Gleiser by TKO in 0.40 Seconds of Round 1
LeFleur shot in for the takedown from the opening bell, got it and pounded away from guard for the victory. A very impressive victory.
Verdict: Great
Affonso Villar (0-0) beat Cliff McAddam (31-21) by submission in 2.56 of Round 3
Villar showed some great wrestling skills and was unlucky not to get victory in the first round after gaining mount and then McAddam’s back only for the bell to stop proceedings. In the 3rd Villar used some nice low leg kicks then unleashed a big punch that floored McAddam, from side control Villar made the old man tap with an armbar.
Verdict: Good
Adrian Swall (3-0) beat Adrian Pascal (2-0) by TKO in 2.59 of Round 2
Pascal showed off his wrestling skills in the first round and scored with a takedown, but only managed to get in strikes from guard. In the second Swall landed a big slam before gaining mount and getting the stoppage via ground and pound.
Verdict: Good
Light Heavyweight Tournament Semi Finals
William Harrison (4-0) beat Allen LeFleur (1-0) by submission in 4.11 of Round 2
LeFleur was denied victory in the first round after pounding away and getting Harrison’s back only for the round to end. In the second LeFleur got another takedown and threw some strikes from guard. From his back Harrison reached up and got LeFleur in a guillotine choke for the submission.
Verdict: Great
Affonso Villar (1-0) beat Adrian Swall (4-0) by UD in 3 Rds
Villar’s better stand up won him the first round using his jab and low kicks to rack up points, in the second Swall made it a close up fight and scored with a takedown but made no progress once there. Villar used strikes and a sloppy Muay Thai to take the 3rd. All 3 judges scored this bout 29-28 for Villar.
Verdict: Decent
Light Heavyweight Tournament Final
William Harrison (5-0) beat Affonso Villar (2-0) by Split Descision in 3 Rds
A disappointing fight with little action or excitement, Villar was the better wrestler getting Harrison against the cage and using dirty boxing. Harrison scored with takedowns although he failed to progress after taking Villar down. This one was scored 29-28 Harriosn by 2 judges and 29-28 Villar by the other.
Verdict: Average
Co- Main Event
Alekos Karabatsos (12-4) beat Bill Cumming (27-12) by TKO in 0.53 of Round 3
In a pretty poor match the former kebab shop owner came out victorious late in the match after reversing a takedown attempt and ground and pounding his way to victory.
Verdict: Decent
Main Event – Welterweight Championship Match
Evan Pizzarro (4-0) beat Zachary Gilbert (11-7) by UD in 5 Rds
The Champion Pizzaro made a far from impressive first defence of his crown, failing to finish journeyman Zachary Gilbert and not even really threatening to. Pizzaro was the better fighter for the first 4 rounds and used better strikes and takedowns but never put Gilbert in any real danger. Pizzarro was a spent force in the last round and could hardly keep his hands up and Gilbert could have got a major upset if he could have put more power in his punches. 2 judges scored it 49-46 Pizzarro and the other 50-45 for the champ.
Verdict: Average

Fantastic show really happy that the crowd loved it and that more of them showed up again for this one. In fact it’s our biggest show by 17 people. Manuel Silva looks like a star in the making and was more than impressive as was Arteta. Satinho has no real challenger at the moment so his 1st defence may be an easy one until some is ready for the challenge.
