Gridiron Glory will debut with the release of Bowl Bound as an online league.

The league website is ready to go, pending links for the various reports.

I'm not sure at this time, since I don't know how the game will work, just how many human owners I'll allow, but those who might be interested can post said interest in this thread with their contact information, a list of 5 teams that they'd like to run, and their thoughts on the Bowl/Playoff aspect of this league.

As I said, we'll debut shortly after release.

Cooley,

I know from OOTP that you run great leagues and I would like to join this one. Here are my choices

1. Notre Dame
2. Wisconsin
3. Ohio State
4. Arizona State
5. Penn State

As far as the bowl/playoff system, I would love to see a playoff system. It will give teams an incentive to play tougher opponents because they wont have to worry about finishing in the top 2. You can be in the top 16 and be in the playoffs, I also think it will give more owners a chance to be successful and also give them more incentive to pay attention and be involved in the league.

I think AZJAZ is wrong about the playoff system. Playoffs are good if everybody is playing elite teams that will almost always be in the top 16 but not so good if you play a mid-major or lower. I think that bowls would give more teams a chance at the post season. Having said that I am on the fence and could be talked into supporting a playoff. Especially if the winners of the less elite conferences get an automatic playoff slot.

AZJAZ
09-11-2005, 02:31 PM
If a mid major goes 10-1 or 11-0 or something like that you will be in the top 16.

Roger Kaputnik
09-11-2005, 02:49 PM
How about lower than mid-major? What you said about a teams being more willing to play tougher competition would be reversed for the lower to mid-level teams. They would have more incentive to pad the schedule. As I said before, you are right with regard to the elite teams but not everybody is going to want to play elite teams.

Yeah I meant for the bigger teams like OSU-UT, not for Vanderbilt or Colorado State.

I prefer a Bowl-based system. Prefer to keep it as realistic as possible from the get-go. Then, after a few seasons... potentially, would then welcome Playoff-based System discussions...

Anxiously waiting any news on a release date and start playing, now that Football Season's in full swing. Anybody have any ideas as to when this thing will be released.

And I think there should be a bowl system. I'd originally think that top 4 teams play a tourny for the national championship, leaving the rest to bowl games.. but I don't think you can do half-half in this game.. so I'd choose more just bowl games!

Prefer Bowl system over playoff. Reason I like the bowl system is more for records and stats then anything else.

I like the fact that on a mediocre team a quarterback has a chance to break an all-time passing record based on a 12-13 game season. If you have a playoff all records will come from your best teams based on 15-18 games played in a playoff system.

When exactly is this league starting up? I'll be gone for most of December starting the 16th, so if it's kicking off before the New Year, I won't be able to jump in right away.

If it starts after the New Year though, I'd be happy to take Kentucky. :)

The forums are up at the league site.

If you're listed, feel free to join as your teamname/whatever you like and get in on the discussions.

Hey Cooley, your PM's are full so I'll post this here.

Hey, sorry I totally forgot about Temple being independent now and I'd prefer to be in a conference, anyway I could change?

If so here's a list of teams that I see are available:

Texas
Fresno State
Miami Ohio
Florida Atlantic
Cincinnati
South Florida

My email is givler.5@osu.edu

Thanks.

Here's a quick question for you Cooley. Since when is Iowa State in the Big Ten? You put them there instead of Illinois. ;)

I think I'll have to resign as coach of Colorado, because my life is a little bit hectic right now and I don't think I'll have time to be active in both this league and NCAAsim...

I'm sorry! As of right now the Colorado Job is open...

Hey CooleyVol, what's up. I remember you from my OOTP days. I started the USBA league and turned it over to Scott Fite who has done a phenominal job with it since then.

Anyway, I'd love a spot in your league, here are my choices:

(1) South Carolina
(2) Georgia Tech
(3) Clemson

Hey, great idea.

Teams:
1. UCLA
2. Oregon State
3. Southern Miss
4. Northern Illinois
5. South Carolina

Editing my original list since Comey neglected to tell me there was a list of current owners and teams. Heh.

I'd prefer a bowl-based system, just to keep things realistic. But if issues arose, there could always be a vote for a playoff system, or whatever.

Whoa, LL didn't start USBA?

Heh, no but he is the sole reason it's still in existence.

I wrote the constitution, designed the site, chose the owners and ran it for I think through the first 2 seasons (it's been a long time so Scott will have to correct me on that one) before RL took over.

I'm most proud of the fact that more than half of the original 10 owners are still going strong in the league 3+ years later.

I think Cooley ran the Chicago franchise for a season or two at one point.

We currently have 66 owners, but would like more.

Check out the Owner's Directory at our site and drop me a line or PM on the forums if you'd like to get in on some great Gridiron Glory action!
