SURELY, there is some mistake.
Is nobody else considering this?

I've seen someone talking about it already. I just don't remember who

Me and damientheomen3 were talking about it.

Some way or another I expect that the key players of Shounen Jump will find themselves represented once modding gets going

All you need to do is read around a bit. :P I've been talking about it plenty in the mod development thread and will be making one.

Cool, then let's make a team and figure out how to do it and do it. If you want. xD

I'd rather stay mostly solo on it, but I guess once I release it people can do with it what they please.

I am going to go ahead and officially announce my DragonBall mod. If it is possible to set "debut dates" to force the game to hold off on some characters then I will incorporate every canonical character from DragonBall and DragonBallZ (GT was never a manga and therefore not canonical; what's more, it sucked).

Or perhaps we can collaborate on the mod. No sense in having 2 separate mods for the same thing.

I don't know how seamless the process will be for importing an exporting, but have either of you guys considered going the open, iterative route that I discussed in another topic?
That is to say that instead of working for a long period of time getting every single worker, location, power, and relationship just perfect before the data sees the light of day, how about doing frequent open updates of "this is what we've done so far"? If everyone on these forums did that, there would potentially be a lot less overlap of work and things may get made quicker.
e.g., if I'm working on my 9000-verse mod and released frequent iterative updates, either of you might take a look at what I've recently done and say "oh, I see that Crayon's just finished statting out King Cold and Mr Popo. I was just about to do those characters, but now I'll save the time and just import his and tweak what he's done to suit my tastes"

Well, that could work; however, I would prefer my work to be my own. Frankly, I'm doing the hard part right now and amassing all face and body portraits. If Adam does confirm that you can set Debut Dates, then I will be covering all of the DragonBall and DragonBall Z MANGA material - that is, what is Canon. There will be no GT, no film characters that aren't canon (i.e., I will include Dodoria from Father of Goku because he makes it to the Manga), and no filler garbage like Garlic Jr.
However, should he not have a Debut Date system, DragonBall Z material will probably get the axe so I can just have DragonBall; DBZ is more complex than what CBH is intended for as compared to DragonBall, which keeps with the more 'mortal' super-heroes.
Anyone interested in assisting me is more than welcome to join and will get full acknowledgement for their contribution to the project; however, it is my project and my direction of it. I see no harm in friendly competition here if others prefer to take a DB Mod their own direction.

Crayon, I was planning on doing something sort of like what you said. That is, I was planning on making all of the locations and such to my liking, and release the characters piece by piece, so as to not take months to release the mod.

I think that making a mod for CBH will take a matter of weeks, not months. Adam said it takes much less time to make a mod for CBH than for WMMA or TEW. What's more, for DragonBall/Z specifically, we're not talking about the monster universe of Marvel or DC. I am guesstimating that the number of characters for my mod won't surpass 200.

While I'm not going to claim one thing or the other without going hands-on with the editor, I think that a couple of weeks for a 200 worker mod is still overly optimistic. It could take a week just to test a mod. It could take two weeks to cut 200 worker pictures, alone. It could easily take more than two weeks to write the bios in some cases (depending on the importance of the characters and how much information you have to condense into the allocated space).
Don't get me wrong -- I'd love if we can expect to get a turn around of that kind of speed, but I just want to keep everyone grounded, since I've seen far too many modders get a shock when it turns out to be more than what they were expecting. Just to run a quick bit of math:
Assuming that a modder has no work/family commitments and has the freedom to work on his/her mod full-time like a job, 8 hours a day, 7 days a week.. Assuming that, that leaves the modder with 112 hours (2 weeks) to do the modding in
So 112 hours divided by 200 workers (excluding other stuff for the sake of the formula)
112/200 = 0.56 = 33minutes (rounded)
That's 33 minutes to complete each worker AND any additional gameworld stuff (e.g., tracking down / cutting pictures; creating powers/abilities; creating locations; creating relationships; creating dialogue; [anything else not yet mentioned in the journals])
YMMV, though. I don't know what your history is with modding, so I'll say that I'm positive that it'll be entirely possible for all of that stuff to be completed in 33 minutes depending on your workflow, determination and motivation, familiarity of the characters, and the level of effort you want to put into things like bios, dialogue, and descriptive text; just from my personal experience, however, I can confidently say that I've spent thirty minutes just doing a single workers bio in some cases (and even longer for cutting difficult full bodied pictures). Even if I could work full time on a mod anymore, 33 minutes would be a tough feat

Well, unless the pictures absolutely have to be on that background, I won't be cutting pics for my contributions to the mods.

Nah, no rules for pictures. People just tend to stick with the same format so everyone can use the same pics. Completely understandable if you don't want to do cutting though. (I only "cut" for the TEW 9000-verse when the backgrounds are plain or horrible... otherwise I keep the natural setting, but that's just me. For CBH I'll probably be cutting, but that's due to various reasons)

I just wanted to show you this post Adam made. Specifically the part I quote. Just more as a friendly warning than anything that someone else is allowed to edit your data and repost it.

Mods Forum
There will be one major change in rules that will apply to the CBH mods forum once it opens. Unlike with the TEW, WreSpi and WMMA mods forum, the rule will be that if you post content (whether that be pictures or data) then it's available for anyone in the community to use as they see fit..

Firstly, there's a certain way pictures have to be cut other than fitting 200x200 and 400x600?
And secondly, where everyone is now at liberty to do as they please with each others work, I will always ask that people have the courtesy to ask me before using my material. Obviously, however, I have no say-so in that.

Sorry if I wasn't clear before. No, there's no specific way that pictures have to be cut. Generally speaking, modders keep things consistent so that they can share pictures around between the community (e.g., the kyky cuts that are so prevalent among the TEW crowd). But there's no rules saying you have to do that at all
