View Full Version : Wild Cards... too wild?

So in experimenting with mods, I've discovered something that I'm not sure is a bug or by design, but wild cards, even those allied to one another, seem to turn their attention to each other in crimes.

The kicker to this is, not only does this cause friendly wild cards to attack each other... but those who are family members and in the same faction!

I'm not entirely sure this is a coding error or not, but why would wild cards in the same team, or at least allied to each other, be involved in such conflicts?

Because they're wild cards?

Think The Hulk. He's fought Superman almost as many times as he's fought alongside him.

Perhaps Wild Card should be redefined for your mod to mean someone where, no matter what, it is a crap shoot whether they are good or bad. That means that they will turn on their allies, friends, and families at the drop of a hat if it suits their purpose.

With that in mind, Catwoman has a friendly relationship with batman but they still get into the occasional fight. Same thing with Talia, in that case they have an actualy romantic relationship but will still fight each other.

Perhaps a feature should be added to specify whether they would attack friends & family or not so that wild card "groups" can maintain cohesion.

... your best example is Superman and The Hulk?

I think the Batman vs. Talia/Catwoman is much better. Especially Catwoman: she's one of the prototypical wild cards, along with the likes of the Secret Six.

Course, the Six didn't spend too much time trying to kill each other. Maybe Wildcards need another tickbox for either will or won't fight allies/friends/ect. I mean, some wildcards are more dim-witted or crazy and can easily be motivated into fighting anyone. Others should be smart enough to not go "And now I'm gonna try and kill my best friend!!!"

Let me counter your examples with an example of my own. In fact, borrowing from Comradebot.

Ra's Al Ghul's League of Assassins.

Their overall goal is to purge the world of evil by violent means, which makes them on their best days anti-heroes... but they also try to destroy Gotham and people who stand against their destructive ways... such as Batman.

Yet, Talia Al Ghul wouldn't just try to kill her father or vice versa. Nor would the League's faceless minions stand in either of their ways.

The issues I'm having are essentially just that.
