Only played with the demo so these are my initial thoughts on the game.

First of all, what I like about the game. The options available to you are numerous, track is a pretty fun way to engage with the characters you want quickly. The ability to form teams is fun and the missions you can engage on whilst in a team offer something different to the normal patrol action. Finally the concept of crimes being schemes devised by a bigger fish behind the scenes is also very good.

What I feel is not fully explored is the relationships between you and other characters, especially any nemesis you have, and a more immersive feel with the stories. At the moment you go on patrol and a fight may occur and be finished within that turn, any unmasking of a mastermind, puzzles and so on a dealt with in a single turn. It would be interesting if certain schemes had a longer narrative arc spanning several turns, or 'issues', similar to how feuds in TEW span several turns. You would be engaged in that storyline for a while and feel caught up the game, as turns progress you and the villain may trade successes as it builds towards a big conclusion.

In a similar vain quite a lot more could be done with your nemesis. At the moment, and correct me if I am wrong, but the main purpose of a nemesis is deciding how often they will reoccur as a villain during one of your patrol sessions? It would be very cool if, like the stories suggestion, your nemesis interacted with you in more depth. They would target you over several turns/issues (this would basically be a scheme/story as mentioned above). They would do this by appearing but not directly engaging with you during patrols (i.e sending henchmen and disappearing upon their defeat), they would target your allys, family members and civilians with whom you have a relationship with, they would send you messages/threats, and they would attempt to create traps just for you (maybe using the supporting cast as bait) all leading to another big conclusion.

The short version is that it's a good game that I will be purchasing upon release. It's also one where I am already excited for the squeal because, whilst it's additive and decent thus far, you get the feeling that it's a game whose true potential and ideas will be realised in the next version. That alone is a reason to buy the v1.0 because it would be a tragedy if a game of such promise is abandoned. Imagine this game with the years of development that TEW had? It would be epic!

I really like your suggestion about the feuds/stories between heroes and villians.

I like the game but I don't think I like it enough to buy it, at least not immediately. The fighting system annoys me and I know it's a text based game and it's to be expected but I'm just really not a fan of that particular aspect. I totally agree that the game has plenty of potential, the next game will probably have the option to play as a villain which would be very cool.
